Last month it was rumored that actor John C. Reilly was up for the role of Haymitch Abernathy in The Hunger Games and Woody Harrelson was being considered for the role of Seneca Crane. But in the weeks that followed, Reilly‘s name dropped from casting consideration and the role of Seneca Crane went to Wes Bentley. Today we learn, officially, that Woody Harrelson has won the role of Haymitch in the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games. Fans of the books know that Haymitch is the adult lead in the story and will play a very integral role in all 3 of the movies to come.

Last weekend New York magazine reported that actor John C. Reilly was up for the role of Haymitch Abernathy in the much-anticipated big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games and altho that report has yet to be confirmed, the magazine is reporting new casting rumors about the film. It is being reported that actor Woody Harrelson has been offered the role of Head Gamemaster Seneca Crane. There is also word that both Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz have been offered roles in the film. Altho unsubstantiated, this new casting talk is very interesting.

BFFs Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson are enjoying a bit of a holiday together in Portofino, Italy this week and the men were snapped enjoying some playtime together on an inflated floaty in the ocean. As you can see from this photo of the friends rough-housing together, they appear to be very close friends:

The guys have been friend forever and this is NOT the first time they’ve frolicked in such a close way … you may recall that the bros, let’s call them Wooden, spent time together in Hawaii early last year and then got nekkid in Florida — first Woody, then Owen. You cannot deny a lurve like theirs. Bromance ’til death do they party. Ain’t they adorable?
