Woot! After one day of availability on iTunes, Britney Spears‘s new single Womanizer has already rocketed to the #1 position on the Top Songs chart. While Brit Brit‘s legion of fans did their part to download the track yesterday, it’s clear that many folks had a hand in helping make Womanizer the top downloaded track in iTunes right now — holla! Here is a pic of Britney making her way into the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, CA yesterday afternoon:

I understand that Britters, in addition to lunching at the Chateau, spent part of Womanizer Download Day gettin’ her hair did at her favorite hair salon. You may recall that last year Britney‘s song Gimme More also made its way to the #1 position on the iTunes Top Songs chart but it took her a little bit longer to reach the top. Womanizer was #2 for much of the day yesterday but by late last night, it surpassed T.I.‘s song Life Your Life to take the top position. Well done! So far, Britney‘s comeback is right on schedule … next up, the music video. Don’t forget, the Womanizer music video will be debuting on ABC‘s 20/20 this Friday night. I expect that it will be available for download on iTunes shortly thereafter. Will Britney reach the #1 position on the Top Music Videos chart? I guess we’ll have to wait and see ;)

To celebrate, Britney.com has been updated with a few photos that were snapped on the set of the Womanizer video that is set to world premiere this Friday night on ABC‘s 20/20 … behold:

ABC News has announced that Britney Spears will premiere the music video for her new single Womanizer on the October 10th episode of 20/20:

Britney Spears’ second comeback is in full swing: She’s due to release a new album in December, on her 27th birthday. “Circus” is set for release Dec. 2, a little over a year after she released last November’s “Blackout,” which was perhaps her most critically acclaimed CD, but came during her infamous year of erratic behavior, rehab, custody battles and at least one hospitalization. She barely promoted it, and the album — though it was certified platinum — was one of her least successful.

Yeah, basically the news report is a reiteration of release info that we already know but we do now have a premiere date for the Womanizer music video. Set your DVRs, y’all :)

It’s out! Britney Spears‘s first single off her upcoming new album Circus has finally been released. Radio stations across the globe began playing Womanizer early this morning and now, courtesy of Z100 here in NYC, so can you. Click below to hear Womanizer in full:

The track is hot, yo. It sounds infinitely better than the crappy leaked snippet that we got to hear last weekend. I know some folks were worried that the song might not be great after reading the lyrics but, trust me, they work in the actual song. It’s a great up-tempo song … it’s bound to be a megahit. I’ve already listened to it about 5 times, you have to hear it for yourselves. I absolutely love it, so worth the extra few days wait … I gotta know, do you love it?

Britney.com has been updated with the official announcement that Britney Spears’s new single Womanizer will, in fact, debut on US radio tomorrow morning and on Britney.com at 12PM ET:

You guys get the Best Fans Award for being so damn patient all week! Drum roll, please… It’s been confirmed!!! “Womanizer” is ready to go and will hit radio stations across the country TOMORROW morning! We’ll also have it posted here on Britney.com by 12pm ET, as well. Wee! I managed to get some inside scoop from the set of Britney Spears‘s new music video for the single Womanizer from her upcoming new album Circus. The video was filmed on location last night at Takami Sushi & Robata in downtown LA, which is why she was seen wearing that sassy black wig in the wee hours this morning. But, before we get to the spoilery video deets, let’s talk about the track itself. Popjustice was lucky enough to get a listen to the full track and offers some info about the song as well as our first look at the promo single artwork:

Without wishing to stir up any of that boring Christina vs Britney nonsense, Britney’s new single ‘Womanizer’ is exactly what Christina is trying – and failing – to do with her own new single. We heard the track in full earlier today and while we enjoyed (what we could hear of) the clip that leaked on Monday hearing the track in full – and at full volume – throws the whole thing into a brand new realm of amazingness. Stylistically it shares a lot in common with Rachel Stevens’ ‘Some Girls’ but in Britney terms it’s a brilliantly executed mashup of ‘Toxic’ with the last album’s more insane moments like ‘Ooh Ooh Baby’. Most important thing: it doesn’t fade at the end – the beat drops out while Britney trills the main “YOU’RE A WOMANIZER OH WOMANIZER OH YOU’RE A WOMANIZER BABY” hook. This track lays a really strong foundation for the fully-realised comeback that didn’t quite happen last time and it’s hard not to think of it as a late contender for single of the year. Like we said above, it’s literally quite good.

OMG … love it. I now understand that Womanizer is FINALLY GOING TO MAKE IT TO RADIO TOMORROW, so we should be hearing it for ourselves very, very soon. After the jump, find out some deets from the Womanizer video set including some exclusive info sent to me from an insider on set last night …

The tool overeager radio DJ who leaked the snippet of Britney Spears‘s new single Womanizer last week (and was subsequently fined by Sony/BMG and removed from his job at his radio station because of it) is now talking to Tennessean.com in order to tell his side of the story … while he still can cuz in about 45 mins. no one is gonna even remember his name (which I’m confused about … the initial reports stated that his name is Adam Sevalia but this new article claims his real name is Adam Davis):

WRVW (The River) personality Intern Adam said today he has been taken off the air for leaking the new Britney Spears’ single, “Womanizer” on the radio station’s Web site. “I was the first person in the world who had this, the Britney Spears’ comeback single,” he said. “I got excited; I got eager. I wanted to get this out there already, so I did. And I guess I got a little too eager.” Intern Adam, whose real name is Adam Davis (and he’s not an intern), said he doesn’t yet know if he’s been suspended or fired from the station for which he’s worked since 2004. WRVW’s Rich Davis did not return a call today. Intern Adam, 25, taped the song during a Jive Records conference call with radio programmers and posted it on the station’s Web site. He said he never played the song on the air. He would not comment on whether anyone else at the station knew beforehand what he had done. “If anyone has ever listened to The River, they know I”m a big supporter of Britney Spears. It’s ironic that Britney’s biggest supporter on the air here is off the air because I played a Britney Spears song. I don’t know what is going to happen next,” he said. “All I can say is bad press is better than no press when you are off the air. Hopefully, I’m not fired. Hopefully they’ll let me back.”

See, it’s one thing to be a supporter of someone’s professional career but I find it highly unlikely he was out for anything other than his own fame at being the first person to leak the new Britney Spears track. Did he really believe he was helping Britney by leaking a snippet of a low quality, unfinished version of her new song? I really don’t think so. In the end, he acted extremely unprofessionally and I’m not surprised that Britney‘s record company is going after him and that his radio station employers have yanked him off the air. He’s really trying to ride this wave of “fame” for as long as he can … I hope he enjoys the ride. I doubt it’ll last much longer.

It looks like the world is going to have to wait with bated breath a wee bit longer for the official world premiere of Britney Spears‘s new single Womanizer which was scheduled to debut on radio today. According to a press release by Brit Brit‘s parent record company, the radio premiere of the single has been pushed back to September 29, one week from today:

According to BreathHeavy.com, the single has been delayed so that it can be further mixed and edited. The site also claims that the single premiere may actually be “the middle of the week” but the press release clearly states a premiere date of September 29. While bummed, I prefer that the track be made as perfect as possible before it gets released. I remember fondly how well Gimme More was received last year when it was released to radio, I’d love to see Womanizer enjoy the same popularity. I’m not sure if she can top It’s Britney, Bitch! but I’m sure she’s gonna give it her best try.
