As you may have noticed, all of my blogposts today (with the small exceptions in Les News) have been about Whitney Houston and the shockwaves caused by her untimely death yesterday. Barring any majorly significant news that may break today, I’m keeping the blog all Whitney today. Things will be back to normal tomorrow with the usual variety of entertainment goss but … I need today to be about Whitney. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I spent part of my evening last night just mourning the loss of such an amazing talent by engulfing myself in her music. I will forever remember Whitney Houston by the music she gave us … and thankfully, we have a lot of music to remember her by.

While many of us are struggling with the sudden and extremely tragic loss of Whitney Houston, I’m quite certain the pain is even more palpable for the family and friends who knew her. Almost immediately, touching tributes of love and remembrance started showing up on Twitter from many of Whitney‘s close, personal friends. Additionally, other artists who worked with Whitney on projects in the past were asked for comment on her passing. All together, these messages of love and loss formulate a very touching and heartfelt tribute to the amazing Whitney Houston. As was reported earlier, it appears that Whitney Houston passed away by drowning yesterday afternoon just hours before she was scheduled to appear and reportedly perform at The Recording Academy and Clive Davis Annual Pre-Grammy Party that famously takes place annually each night before the Grammy Awards. Because the event was so beloved by Whitney, her mentor and friend Clive Davis decided that the show would go on despite her death and would, instead, be turned into an impromptu memorial for the late Whitney Houston. Clive Davis opened the show last night with remarks about Whitney‘s passing and then led the assembled audience in a respectful moment of silence … and then the party got underway. The world is still reeling from the incredibly sad news of Whitney Houston‘s passing yesterday afternoon at the age of 48 but there is a LOT of new information to pass along in order to update the tragic story. According to new reports from TMZ, it’s starting to look like Whitney passed away by drowning in her hotel bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hilton. Apparently, Whitney has been taking the prescription drug Xanax to treat anxiety and depression and it appears that she may have taken the drug and fallen asleep in the bath while she prepared for the big Clive Davis Grammy Party that took place last night. According to the report, Whitney was found in the tub underwater. Wow … just … so sad.

No … NO! I am … in total shock. Just moments ago the Associated Press announced on Twitter that singer Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. I absolutely did not believe it … no way. There are far too many death hoaxes on Twitter that I refused to believe it … but, I’m sad to say … the news is true. Whitney has died :(

Earlier this month, Melissa blogged about a new film titled Sparkle that stars Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks. Today we get to check out a fantastic new promo photo of the pair in the film. As I understand it, Sparkle is a film loosely based on the life story of The Supremes where we follow the meteoric rise of the protagonist character Sparkle (played by Sparks). Back in May we learned that troubled popstar Whitney Houston voluntarily checked herself into rehab and then in June we learned that she decided to extend her stay. Since then, Whitney has kept a relatively low profile … but today we get to check out a new photo of Whitney from a recent appearance in London. Whitney was among the celebrity guests in attendance at the birthday part of the Prince of Brunei … and thankfully, she was lookin’ great!

At the start of this month, we learned that troubled singer Whitney Houston decided to voluntarily submit to rehab treatment in order for her to get a better handle on her addiction(s). Just last week, we learned that Amy Winehouse, too, decided to return to rehab for addiction treatment. Today we learn the positive news that Whitney has decided to extend her treatment in the hopes of continuing to clean up her life. Sadly, Amy has not decided the same … and checked herself out of rehab after only a week of treatment.

I’ve got a bit of sad news to pass along today … it turns out that Whitney Houston has checked herself into an outpatient rehab program for drug and alcohol addiction. As you may recall, I reported that Whitney surprised the audience at the Prince concert last Thursday night by jumping on stage to perform with both Chaka Khan and Prince himself.
