Now that the matter of who will be playing Jacob Black in the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon has been settled (and how!), the focus can now turn to other roles in the film. I’m pretty sure that all of the other actors who had roles in the Twilight movie (ie. the Cullen family) will be coming back to reprise their roles but there are a few new characters not introduced in the first movie that have to be cast for the next movie. It turns out that Vanessa Hudgens, of High School Musical fame, has already auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater, who plays the Twilight Saga‘s sole female werewolf. If she gets her way, she will be among the new castmembers joining the Twilight Saga — BE WARNED! The following report contains SPOILERS that may ruin your New Moon experience if you have not read the books:

Now here’s a role Vanessa Hudgens would like to sink her teeth into. The High School Musical star has auditioned for the part of werewolf Leah Clearwater in the Twilight sequel New Moon, according to Ashley Green, who played Alice in Twilight. “I think she’d be great,” Greene tells MTV. As Leah, Hudgens, 20, would be a foil to Taylor Lautner, who will reprise his role as werewolf Jacob Black. In the Stephenie Meyer novels, Leah is her pack’s lone female werewolf – and a jilted one, at that. Unlike Hudgens’s Gabriella in HSM, Leah experiences heartbreak, being ditched by classmate (and fellow werewolf) Sam Uley.

HMMM … you know, I’m not immediately repulsed by the idea of Vanessa playing Leah in New Moon. Truth be told, I’ve never seen Vanessa Hudgens act so I can’t comment on that regard but judging by looks alone, I think she could play a respectable Leah Clearwater. I’m sure there are many diehard Twilighters who may balk at the idea of Vanessa joining the Twilight cast … but she will add some more starpower to the Twilight sequel. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen. I’m very curious to see if she manages to get the part … I guess I always figured they’d cast a newcomer but … HMMM. I may have to think on this some more. What do y’all think … could Vanessa Hudgens actually bring Leah Clearwater to life?

Here are a few pics of some of the celebs who made their way out to the Staples Center in downtown LA last night to cheer on the LA Lakers as they faced the New York Knicks. David Beckham met up with David Arquette and the pair rooted for the boys in Purple and Gold as they sat together courtside:

Becks was lookin’ just supercute in his dressed down, casual outfit. It’s pretty ridic how the man can just look good even when he’s not trying. But Davids Beckham and Arquette weren’t the only celeb couple who came out to cheer the Lakers on to victory (they beat the Knicks by a score of 116-114) … here are a few pics of the overly tanned, somewhat unwashed lookin’ Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens:

Nothing about either of these two screams sports fan to me but they really were doing their best to look interested in the game when they weren’t making goo-goo eyes at one another. It’s funny how sometimes you can see more celebs sitting inside a sports arena than you can on a red carpet. You gotta love LA.

Here are a couple of cute pics of Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron out and about yesterday in celebration of her 20th birthday. As you may recall, Vanessa was on hand to help Zac celebrate his 21st birthday back in October and was with him when he vacayed in Hawaii afterward … so it was Zac‘s turn to help her celebrate her birthday. The pair decided to keep things pretty low key … the most exciting thing they did yesterday afternoon was enjoy a quiet dinner together at one of their fave restaurants:

In fact, they make too perfect a couple which is why I’m always suspicious of the verity of their relationship … but, whatever the case may be, Zanessa do a really good job of taking care of one another. They’re practically inseparable and they do tend to look happy together. It looks like the pair enjoyed a really nice afternoon together … nothing too exciting for the big 2-0 but, then again, we have no idea how they celebrated last night. UGH, on second thought … I don’t think I want to know. Happy Birthday, Vanessa!

Yesterday we got to see a few pretty hawt photos of the fully adult-aged Zac Efron and his tween High School Musical girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens frolicking on a Hawaiian beach over the weekend and you may recall that Zac was, proudly, showing off his half-nekkid physique. Today, we have new photos of Zanessa but this time everyone is fully clothed … the couple have ended their Hawaiian sojourn and made their way back to LA. While these pics aren’t nearly as fun as yesterday’s batch of pics, I think it’s worth noting that the couple still look all coupley and it’s worth updating the locale of Mr. Efron … you know, should he decided to disrobe on the beaches here in SoCal, it’s worth being on the look-out, I think. The just-turned 21 year old Zac Efron and his co-star/girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens took a respite from promoting their new movie High School Musical 3: Senior Year (which just opened in theaters this past weekend) and made their way to Hawaii this weekend to attend the nuptials of a friend. The couple also took some time to relax at the beach … it should also be noted that Zac opted to leave his shirt at the hotel:

I, uh … yeah … so Zac Efron recently turned 21 years old and stuff and … uh, I guess it’s not a bad thing to, um, admire the guy’s physical fitness. Yessir … it looks like someone has been very diligent about adhering to his work-out schedule … yep. It should also be noted that Zac is the latest member of Team Calvin Klein Underwear, who has really been on a roll lately. Um, yeah … I am running out of things to say here other than enjoy the pictures. Oh, and Vanessa Hudgens is a lucky beyotch.

Late last week we learned from Zac Efron himself that he was planning on “laying low” this weekend when celebrating his transition into full adulthood on his 21st birthday (which was Saturday). Zac‘s girlfriend and High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens interjected that she had a “surprise” in store for Zac on his birthday. So … just how did the boy, now man, wonder celebrate the big 2-1? Read on and find out:

It’s party time for Zac Efron! The star of High School Musical 3: Senior Year celebrated his 21st birthday Saturday with an intimate two-hour dinner party at L.A.’s Pace restaurant with a group of friends and family that included his parents and brother, girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, HSM3 costars Monique Coleman and Ashley Tisdale, her boyfriend Jared Murillo and pals Michelle Trachtenberg, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Snow and singing sisters Aly and AJ Michalka. Efron kept it causal in a T-shirt and jacket while Hudgens, 19, who “helped plan the party,” a source says, donned a colorful mini-dress. Guests arrived with wrapped gifts, including bottles of liquor for the actor, who can now legally drink alcohol. Efron and Hudgens left the rustic Italian eatery hand-in-hand just before midnight and disappeared into a waiting car. But the celebration continued at a nearby hotel, where the birthday boy hosted an afterparty with some of his dinner guests.

Indeed, I understand that Zac and Vanessa met up with popstars Aly and AJ at the very private Chateau Marmont for the after-birthday dinner party. As you can see, Zac was presented with a nice gift basket of birthday booze … no word on if he cracked into that particular gift on Saturday night but, well, I think it’s a safe bet that he did. For the most part, Zac did keep things on the downlow, managing to celebrate his 21st without causing too much of a ruckus. While I would’ve preferred to have seen some photos of Efron Gone Wild, I think he’s too smart for that kind of behavior. The Golden Child is now the Golden Man Child … in these tough economic times, it behooves him to remain as squeaky clean as possible and stay out of controversial trubs. In any event, Birthday Lurve goes out to Zachary Efron. Here’s hopin’ it’s not all downhill from here on out.

Teen Vogue magazine held their 6th Annual Young Hollywood Party at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in SoCal last night and managed to cull together only the biggest names in Young Hollywooddom (like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens) … and a whole bunch of young nobodies (pretty much everyone else). Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet arrivals last night:

Well, you know that Zac had to be there since he is on the cover of the current Young Hollywood issue of Teen Vogue … and where Efron goes, Vanessa isn’t too far behind. The rest of the celebs who showed up were … well … in my opinion, less than stellar. Without any of the Gossip Girl kids or any of the girls from 90210 in attendance, I’m not sure what Teen Vogue was thinking by parading around these leftovers … the Willis sisters and the Sprouse brothers aren’t my idea of the future of Hollywood, sorry ’bout it. Meh. The party looks like it was a big dud.

Last night the 2008 Teen Choice Awards infiltrated and took over the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City in Hollywood, CA in order to honor the previous year’s stellar achievements in categories which include music, movies, sports and TV, as voted on by teens aged 13-19.
