Now that Ricky Martin is well out of the closet as a gay man and after he very publicly acknowledged his relationship with longtime boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez at the GLAAD Media Awards in NYC last month, there is a new report going around that claims that Ricky and Carlos are planning to get married. Now, because Ricky and Carlos can’t get married legally in Puerto Rico, the belief is that the couple may get married in Carlos‘s home country of Spain … where same-sex marriage has been legal since 2005. Could we be hearing wedding bells soon for Mr. Ricky Martin?

Ricky Martin, newly openly gay pop star and father of twin boys he named Matteo and Valentino, will make an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday November 2 to be interviewed publicly for the first time about his decision to come out of the closet as well as his life as a single father of two. He was guarded about his sexuality for years and reserved about his new adventure as a family man – now Ricky Martin is sharing his joy of becoming a father via a surrogate mother on the Oprah Winfrey show. Ricky welcomed cameras to his home for a candid portrait of his happy family home life for his interview with Oprah, in which he talks about his sons and his sexuality for the first time. The 39-year-old Puerto Rican megastar quietly became father of twin boys, called Matteo and Valentino, in August 2008. Previously, the star has only released occasional pictures of himself with the two gorgeous children via his official Twitter account, then ‘came out’ on his website in March this year. The singer said at the time : ‘I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.’ But he has never before opened up about becoming father or finally going public with his sexuality … Ricky is on the chatshow conveyor belt to plug his new autobiography. Titled ‘Me’, it details his life, career and journey to officially come out. The book hits shops in the US next week. Meanwhile, the singer’s first new material in six years is due out before the end of the year. ‘The Best Thing About Me Is You’ is a described as an emotional duet featuring Ricky and Joss Stone and is the first track from a new studio album, due out next year.

Ricky Martin (who came out of the closet as a gay man back in March) and his twin sons Matteo and Valentino (who were born via surrogate back in August of 2008) are featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of People En Español magazine. As you may recall, Ricky and his boys were featured on the cover of People En Español back in December of 2008 but this latest appearance in the mag is significant because it is the Father’s Day Issue. The coverstory article talks about Ricky as a father and reveals that he is happily attached to a Puerto Rican man:

The Father’s Day issue of People en Español features Ricky Martin and his two sons on the cover. The popular magazine is read by more than 6 million people internationally. The issue includes interviews with several people who are close to Martin and who share intimate details about his romantic and family life. Among those interviewed is Martin’s brother Eric Martin, who tells People en Español: “My nephews have the best father.” He adds, “The whole family loves him very much and we support him in everything. If he’s happy, we are too.” The magazine confirms that Martin has been in a relationship with his partner, a friend from childhood in Puerto Rico, for over a year. “Who better than Ricky Martin to grace the cover of the People en Español issue dedicated to Father’s Day? Ricky is an artist in every sense of the word,” editor Armando Correa told GLAAD. “It’s great that we now know his sexual orientation. But more important is who he is as a human being, a philanthropist, a man adored by millions of fans and even more important still, that he’s a great father.” The issue features other Latin American celebrity parents, and is now on newsstands.

Two months after coming out gay, Ricky Martin is speaking up about his boyfriend. In a cover story for the Father’s Day issue of People en Espanol, Martin talks about his twin sons, Valentino and Matteo, and the man he’s sharing his life with … Ricky Martin says he’s involved with a Puerto Rican man. He told People that his love is a childhood friend. The pair lost touch but became reacquainted over a year ago in Miami. The investment analyst also helps with raising the children. “I found strength as a couple and having a family is what was missing,” Martin said. Matteo and Valentino, who’ll turn 2 in August, are the center of his life, the 38-year-old dad says: “I feel comfortable taking care of them. There is a paternal instinct that is beautiful” … The entertainer, who had previously denied his sexual orientation, said writing his memoir had prompted him to come out of the closet: “Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And this is something worth celebrating.”

This is FANTASTIC! I have to commend People En Español for deciding to put gay dad Ricky Martin on the cover of their Father’s Day Issue particularly because homosexuality is not widely accepted in the Latino community … so the magazine is making an important statement by giving Ricky and his sons the cover. I am just elated that Ricky finally found the courage to come out because he can truly inspire Latino gay youths to follow his example. I’m also very happy to know that Ricky is happily attached to a partner … he’s too hot a man to be rollin’ single ;)

OH and remember that photo we saw of Ricky Martin in NYC last month? It turns out that he has just signed on to play the role of Che Guevara in the Broadway revival of Evita! Evita is one of my fave musicals, I think he’ll be amazing as Che. It really sounds like Ricky Martin is in a good, happy place right now … I couldn’t be more thrilled for him. Proud papa Ricky Martin, who became a father to a pair of twin boys via surrogate mother last August, is showing off his sons Matteo and Valentino on his official website. As you may recall, Ricky debuted his sons on the cover of People en Español last December and when last we saw him out and about with his sons, the family was out for a chilly winter stroll in NYC last January. He used to live the “vida loca,” but life has slowed down considerably for Ricky Martin since welcoming his fraternal twins, Matteo and Valentino, by gestational surrogate last August. Sharing personal photos of himself enjoying the sun and surf with the boys on his Web site, Martin, 37, says that fatherhood “feels amazing.” “I’m so happy! Everything they do, from smiling to crying, feels like a blessing,” Martin says of his 1-year-old twins. “This has been the most spiritual moment in my life.”

He is SUCH a mom! His baby boys are so cute and already one year old … where does the time go. To be honest, with cute kids like these, I can totes understand why he’d be very happy and willing to show them off to the world wide web. When last we saw new papa Ricky Martin he was posing on the cover of People En Español magazine introducing his twin sons Matteo and Valentino to the world. Since then, father and sons have been keeping a relatively low profile out of the public eye. At last, the Martin men have surfaced in NYC where they were spied enjoying a brisk winter stroll in Central Park last week:

Despite the frigid temps, Ricky thought it would be nice to bundle up his boys and pack them into a baby stroller to push them around in the cold NYC weather … tho, I’m not sure why. In any event, it appears that Ricky is happily enjoying his new role as single dad. I seem to recall that Ricky was seriously dating some chick a couple of years ago but we don’t hear very much about any love interest in his life these days. I wonder whatever happened to that chick? Since Ricky‘s sons were born via gestational surrogacy, I assume the woman who bore the children is not at all involved with Ricky or the twins at all. HMMM. Clearly, Ricky heeded the call of his biological clock and decided to take on fatherhood all on his own. I wonder if he will ever find true, honest love. As wonderful as being a parent is, I’m sure, I hope he is able to be honest with himself and find that special someone to share his life and his new family with.

A joyful Martin, 36, spoke candidly with PEOPLE at home in Puerto Rico about his desire to be a parent, the decision to seek the help of a surrogate and juggling caring for twins – he has no nanny!

Describe this time in your life
I’m so happy! Everything they do, from smiling to crying, feels like a blessing. Being a father feels amazing. This has been the most spiritual moment in my life.

How hands-on are you as a father?
I don’t have a nanny. I’m doing this on my own because I don’t want to miss a moment. I have a personal assistant who helps me, someone who takes care of me while I’m taking care of them, but I’m the one who changes the diapers, the one that feeds them, the one that bathes them, the one that puts them to sleep. For any parent, the first couple of months tend to get a little bit intense.

Why did you choose to become a parent via surrogate?
Adoption was one option, but it’s complicated and can take a long time. Surrogacy was an intriguing and faster option. I thought, ‘I’m going to jump into this with no fear.’

Tell us about Valetino’s and Matteo’s personalities.
Valentino loves to sleep. I call him ‘Mr. Peace and Love’ because he’s so chill and serene. Matteo is more alert and active. He was up at 3 a.m. the other night and just hanging!

What is your philosophy on raising your sons?
I love to read books to my sons and tell them stories. I play music for them so they develop their own personalities. I want to give them information and raise them with honesty and love, and give them self-esteem and a lot of acceptance.

HMMM … doesn’t this story sound awfully familiar? Remember when we learned that Clay Aiken became a father by artificial insemination? Yeah. And we all know what happened shortly after that baby was born. I’m just sayin’ … In any event, much congrats to Ricky on the birth of his beautiful twin boys. They really are darling. Curious that there has been NO MENTION AT ALL about the woman who gave birth to these babies. Personally, and pardon the rant, I think it’s kinda crappy that Ricky, Matteo and Valentino weren’t able to get the cover of US People magazine. I can’t believe a coverstory of Tom Cruise‘s personal pictures was deemed more worthy of the cover. The Cruise story seems like such a throw-away story, one that could be used when there is really nothing else going on.
