The Big re’V'eal

For much of yesterday, I was feelin’ fine and dandy … I happily received a press package from ABC to promote the upcoming second season of V:

As you can see, in the box is a DVD of the first 3 eps of season 2, a V baby rattle and a gummy rat for eating. Those of you familiar with the original V series from the 80′s know where the show is going. But there are enough changes in this new version of V that we can’t really be sure what is gonna happen. As you may recall, season 1 ended after Anna‘s baby eggs were incinerated … and red clouds covered the skies of Earth. Season 2 picks up from there and the action gets going really quickly. Here is our first look at the official promo poster for the cast of V season 2:

As you can see, all of our fave familiar faces are in there. I do NOT want to spoil anything but there is a big reveal at the end of the first ep that literally made me jump up out of my seat and scream with glee. This reveal has been heavily talked about since San Diego Comic Con last Summer but I managed to avoid hearing about it … hence my surprise when I watched the ep. If I missed the spoiler, I’m sure many of y’all have too so I won’t spoil it for you. Needless to say, if you’re a fan of the original V series then you are going to LOVE what happens in the first ep of season 2 :)

Unfortch, late yesterday afternoon — after I committed to going to the movies with Darion — I got really sick. Flu-like symptoms hit me like a ton of bricks … and then I felt like I was run over by a truck. It knocked me out so bad, I had to cancel on the movie ;( I spent all night in bed … and I’m still not feeling great today. I’m just thankful this didn’t happen when I was in Detroit … still, I’m feelin’ pretty rotten. I’m gonna be in bed all day long as soon as I’m done with today’s work … if you are feeling well, revel in it people! The only think you think about when you’re sick is now you took for granted when you weren’t sick :/

Red Rain
‘V’ Season 2 Goes Into Production In Vancouver

When the sci-fi drama V ended its first season last Spring, we the viewers were left with a lot of questions … particularly relating to the red clouds that unfolded above the Earth in the final scene. The season ended without any explanation about those red clouds … leaving us to wonder what the hell could happen next. Today we get to see a few photos from the Vancouver, British Columbia set of V that might give us a hint. Here are photos of actors Elizabeth Mitchell (who plays FBI and V Resistance fighter Erica Evans) and Logan Huffman (who plays Erica‘s son Tyler) making their way out of the Visitors HQ in NYC … as what looks to be red rain falls down all over them:

V was one of my fave new shows last season and I am really looking forward to its return this Fall. As a big fan of the original V mini-series shows from the 80′s I had high hopes that this remake would be just as good or better … and thankfully, this new version of V has not disappointed. I am SO dying to find out what those red clouds mean … and how the story will unfold in season 2. Seeing these new photos of filming production of V season 2 has really made my day. I hope we get to see more photos soon.

The Visitors Have Arrived . . . Again

Yesterday was a very quiet day for David and me … since The Turtle Party: Book Club meeting was postponed to Sunday, we found ourselves with a free day. I spent much of it reading and lounging around … and last night was spent in front of the TV along with almost 14,000,000 other folks watching the series premiere of V on ABC:

Earlier this year I blogged my love for the original V miniseries that aired back in the 80′s so I have been anxiously awaiting the premiere of the new version. Some very special friends of mine got me a copy of last night’s pilot episode on DVD for my birthday back in July so I was already well aware of how awesome the new series is … and now all y’all know too. I thought the pilot got things off to a great start … I can’t wait to see more.

I’m not the only V fan around here you know … Pink reader Philip sent in pics of his Hallowe’en costume this year where he dressed up as a Visitor circa 1985:

Isn’t this a rad costume? I love it!! I’m sure many of y’all enjoyed the ep last night as well … here’s hoping it turns out to be a huge smash success!

Tonight, David and I have plans to attend an event in Beverly Hills, CA … we’ll see if we actually make it out to the event or if our laziness will win out. If we do go, tho, I should have fun pics to share tomorrow ;)

The Visitors Are Coming

Much of yesterday was spent prepping the apartment for Sarah’s arrival from Detroit today so David and I pretty much spent most of the day indoors. I did manage to run out for supplies but that was about it. I was able to FINALLY get to preview the pilot episode of the new ABC series V, which is based on the 80′s miniseries of the same name that aired on NBC:

From the ABC website: Today, the world woke up to find spaceships over every major city. The Visitors claim to have come in peace, bringing gifts of medical miracles and technological breakthroughs. They promise to do no harm. They’re lying. Most people believe the aliens have arrived just when we needed them most. We’re eager to embrace their generous offers of help, but while tracking a terrorist cell, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans stumbles upon something far more sinister. Erica discovers that the aliens have plans to infiltrate our governments and businesses, planting seeds for their plot to control mankind. Convincing anyone of the truth will be impossible because the Visitors have two powerful weapons. First, they’ve given the people faith with their reassuring presence and gifts. Second, they’ve rallied our youth. Thousands of teens, including Erica’s son, have been recruited as ‘Peace Ambassadors’ but they’re actually serving as unwitting spies. When Erica gets thrust into the resistance movement, she’ll have to balance her covert activities with her job and her role as a mother, fighting to protect her son Tyler – even as he joins forces with the enemy.

As you may recall, we learned that ABC officially picked up V back in May and then a couple days later got our first look at the extended trailer for the series. Now, I don’t want to give anything away about the pilot but I will say HOLY SHITBALLS it’s awesome!! The story has been updated a bit for the times but all of the core themes of the original miniseries are still in tact. Elizabeth Mitchell (of Lost) stars in the series and, man, she was made for this role. Yes, she is good as Juliette in Lost but I do love her as the hard-nosed FBI agent who learns the truth that the Visitors are trying to keep hidden. I seriously loved every second of the pilot ep … I cannot WAIT to see more. I have a great feeling this series will do very well when ABC finally airs it on TV.

I am happy to report that Sarah arrived in LA safe and sound and is already napping from her early morning flight. We’re planning dinner with friends tonight and then our adventures get started tomorrow. Woot!!

ABC Releases A Trailer For ‘V’

SQUEEEEEEEEE! Yesterday we learned the amazing news that ABC has officially picked up the remake of the 80′s sci-fi TV series V as a mid-season replacement next season. We also got to see two short clips of footage from the new series which stars, among others, Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost. Today, we get to see the FULL LENGTH trailer for V which gives a very nice overview of the series plotline and even offers a glimpse of what the Visitors are really up to. Here are a few screencaps from this new trailer:

ABC has released this full new preview of “V,” which is a re-imagining of the 1980′s miniseries about the world’s first encounter with an alien race in which the aliens call themselves The Visitors, and have a seemingly friendly agenda that may or may not be a cover for something more malevolent. “V” stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie Stevens, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.

OMG OMG OMG OMG … I AM SO LOVING THIS! Yes, the trailer gives a quick look at the Visitors‘ secret. I am so excited for this series, I really wish it wasn’t scheduled as a mid-season replacement cuz I dunno that I can really wait until NEXT YEAR to watch this show. After the jump, check out the 3 minute trailer in full …

'Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell will star
ABC Picks Up The Remake Of ‘V’

More remake news to impart today … and for me, this is the best news ever! ABC announced its Fall line-up yesterday and revealed that they have officially picked up the remake of the 80′s sci-fi TV movie/mini-series/series V for air later this year. Now, I know that many of you may be unfamiliar with V but those of you who do know what I’m talking about surely remember what a freaking awesome TV series it was. V told the story of aliens from outer space called the Visitors who come to Earth in search of our friendship as well as our help in obtaining “a mineral that is common and abundant on Earth” (in return they offer the cure for Cancer among other technological gifts) … but after we welcome them with open arms, a small number of people find out that the Visitors have come to our planet for more nefarious reasons and form a Resistance to battle them for control of our planet:

Oh man … I loved this show so much! The original TV movie aired in 1983 and then the mini-series and eventual series aired in 84-85. I am thrilled that ABC has decided to pick up this remake and that Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost has been cast as a lead in the series. Now, depending on what you may or may not know about the season finale of Lost that aired last week, this news might be a bit spoilerish for you … but never fear, according to Entertainment Weekly, Mitchell will be appearing again in future eps of Lost:

ABC [announced] that it has picked up a reboot of the camptastic ’80s thriller V and that Lost heroine Elizabeth Mitchell is a full-time castmember. Translation: She will not be returning to Lost as a series regular. However, before you go declaring Juliet DOA from last week’s detonated hydrogen bomb, I should point out that this piece of scoop comes with a big but attached: Mitchell’s Lost days are not done. Multiple sources confirm that the actress is expected to appear in an unspecified number of episodes next season, so it’s entirely possible Juliet survived Jughead and her absence will be explained in another way. (Check out Doc Jensen’s column this Wednesday for a comprehensive Juliet theorypalooza.)

Woot! Not only is one of my fave TV series getting a rebooted revamp but it will be lead by a truly amazing actress in Elizabeth Mitchell. AND THE GOOD NEWS DOESN’T STOP THERE … there are 2 preview clips from V that are available to watch online. After the jump, check them out in full …
