TRue Lurve?
A New Man For TR Knight?

Last October we learned that INCREDIBLY HEARTBREAKING news that T.R. Knight and his beau — 16-years his junior — Mark Cornelson decided to end their romantic relationship (as you may recall, we got some bullshizz about “work commitments” getting in the way) but today we learn that there may be new love in T.R.‘s life. Over the weekend, T.R. was spotted brunching with a new dude at a place called Bubby’s in NYC:

Now, just because two dudes are spotted enjoying a bit of brunch together does NOT mean they are romantically involved … it’s when you see the guys holding hands that you know something is going on ;) After the jump, get a gander at the new man in T.R.‘s life — you may be happy to know that this one looks more age-appropriate …

Peace the Spork Out goes to The Mark-Knight
TR Knight & Mark Cornelson Are Dunzo!

Sad news to pass along today … In Touch Weekly magazine is reporting that the once-happy, always adorable couple made up of actor T.R. Knight and his very cute (much younger) boyfriend Mark Cornelson has come to an end. Apparently, due to T.R.‘s work commitments, the relationship suffered … and sadly had to end. The Mark-Knight is dunzo, y’all!

T.R. Knight is blaming his hectic schedule as the reason for his split with his boyfriend of almost two years, Mark Cornelsen. “It just came to a natural end, no hard feelings,” explains a close friend of the former Grey’s Anatomy star, whose focus has been on his role in the musical Parade at the Mark Taper Forum in LA. “They still care about each other very much.” And though T.R., 36, asked his ex, who is 16 years younger, to move out of the apartment they shared, he said it doesn’t mean he has given up hope for a family someday. “I want a baby,” he told Ellen DeGeneres around the time of his breakup. His wish to adopt a child is genuine. “When the time is right, it will happen,” says the pal, adding that for right now, “his focus is on the show.”

Awww … this is SUCH sad news. I loved T.R. and Mark together … they made a really cute couple. I suppose we should’ve realized something was up … we haven’t seen them together here on the blog since last May. They were deffo one of my fave Hollywood couples and I’m really bummed that they couldn’t figure out a way to make it work. Hopefully the guys will see the err of their ways and will be able to get back together somewhere down the line … but as for now … they are dunzo. Sad.

Peace the Spork Out, Dr. George O'Malley
T.R. Knight Will Not Be Returning To ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Welp, it looks like Grey’s Anatomy will be returning next season with one less doctor on call. Now, I don’t watch the show myself but I understand that the season finale that just aired left off with a bit of a cliffhanger … the lives of two main characters were left hanging in the balance without any pronouncement one way or the other if either of them will live. Dr. George O’Malley (played by T.R. Knight) was one of those characters … and according to Marc Malkin of E! News, Dr. O’Malley ain’t comin’ back. T.R. Knight on Grey’s is dunzo, y’all:

Dr. George O’Malley is dead. Multiple sources tell me that T.R. Knight will not be returning to Grey’s Anatomy next season. Knight’s departure shouldn’t come as too much of a shock… Not only was George flatlining at the end of the season finale earlier this month, but the 36-year-old actor has reportedly wanted off the hit ABC series for quite some time. I’m told that tension between Knight and show creator Shonda Rhimes has become unbearable for both. Knight, an original member of the Grey’s cast, was said to have become increasingly frustrated by his character’s lack of storyline and camera face time. In December, he asked to be let out of his contract. Insiders tell me Knight has made no secret that he wants off the show. No word on any future projects for Knight, but at least now he’s free to pursue other things. Reps for Knight and ABC declined to comment. Knight’s best buddy Katherine Heigl is supposedly still waiting to learn her fate with Seattle Grace. As I was the first to report last July, Rhimes began contemplating an early death for Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens after Heigl took herself out of the running for last year’s Emmys because, she complained, the writers failed to give her good enough material to work with. Like George, Izzie was also flatlining at the end of the season finale.

As I said, I don’t watch the show and not even I was surprised to hear this news. When an actor very publicly tells his boss “let me out of my contract”, it’s clear that his heart ain’t in it anymore. Perhaps T.R. and his cute beau Mark Cornelsen were celebrating the news when the two of them stepped out for dinner earlier this week. While I wouldn’t normally advice anyone to go quittin’ their job in this economic environment, I think this is prolly a good move for T.R. He was clearly unhappy at Grey’s Anatomy and now he’s freed up to do something else. I just hope something comes along so he can strike while the iron is hot … er, lukewarm.

Still goin' strong
TR Knight & Mark Cornelsen Enjoy A Sushi Dinner Date

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen photos of Grey’s Anatomy star TR Knight out and about with his young beau Mark Cornelsen and I was beginning to wonder if something was amiss in their relationship. It turns out that the couple have just been lying low and things appear to still be going strong in their relationship. The Mark-Knight stepped out for dinner together at Katsuya in Hollywood, CA last night:

Awww … they’re still holding hands. I really like these two together. I’m really happy to know that they are still together … they are deffo one of my fave couples. Now that Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are no longer together, The Mark-Knight moves up in my book as the cutest same-sex couple around.

Visibility is key
The 2009 GLAAD Media Awards Are Handed Out

Celebs from the big screen, the small screen, the stage and more made their way out to the Nokia Theatre here in downtown Los Angeles, CA yesterday evening to attend and participate in the 2009 GLAAD Media Awards … which honors achievement in GLBT visibility in the media. Here are a few photos from the awards show itself and some info from the glitzy ceremony:

Civil rights group GLAAD honored the movie “Milk” and singled-out Reverend Gene Robinson and comedian Kathy Griffin for their work at a Saturday night gala highlighting issues such as gay marriage and equality. Talk program “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” was given a GLAAD Media Award for its episode “Ellen & Portia’s Wedding Day,” covering DeGeneres’ wedding to actress Portia de Rossi. DeGeneres dedicated the honor to Carl Walker-Hoover, an 11 year-old Massachusetts boy who killed himself earlier this month because school kids bullied him and called him “gay.” “In my opinion, we are not fighting for gay rights, we are fighting for equal rights,” DeGeneres told the black tie crowd at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater. The 2009 awards marked the 20th year that films, TV shows, performers and others have been honored by GLAAD, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. “Milk,” about slain gay rights activist Harvey Milk, was named best film. “Desperate Housewives” was chosen best TV comedy, and “Brothers and Sisters” was named top TV drama. GLAAD President Neil Giuliano spoke to the audience about the impact TV shows such as “The L Word” and movies like “Brokeback Mountain” have had on introducing audiences to all sorts of lesbian and gay characters and issues they face. Giuliano touched on marriage and said that despite setbacks like the passage of California’s Proposition 8 which denied gay men and women the right to marry in that state, progress has been made in other states where gay weddings are now legal. “As we learned in Iowa and Vermont, ignorance and hate does not stop the march of social justice,” Giuliano said. While many of the night’s speeches focused on social and political issues — as expected for the activist group — the night also featured a lot of comedy and music. Comedian Kathy Griffin accepted the Vanguard Award for her work in the gay community. She dressed in a bikini with a white, gay marriage ribbon, pinned to the bottom. The makers of video sensation “Prop 8: The Musical,” a parody of the conservative campaign backing Proposition 8, were singled-out with a special recognition award, and the musical number was performed on stage. The Right Reverend V. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Bishop in the Episcopal church, was given an honorary award for his work as a religious leader and activist. Last month, GLAAD held a ceremony in New York City where it handed out other media awards. A similar event is planned for May in San Francisco.

I really love that the GLAAD Media Awards are handed out in LA, NY and San Francisco … issues of GLBT visibility are too large for just one ceremony. Much love and congrats to all the folks who work tireless to help foster and spread positive images of the gay community, pushing the boundaries of discrimination further and further away. The work is long and hard and nowhere near complete … until justice and equality for all is achieved in this country, the work carries on. Again, congrats to those folks who keep on keepin’ on. Click HERE for a full list of award winners from the LA portion of the GLAAD Media Awards. My dear friend Darion was able to attend the GLAAD Media Awards yesterday and he managed to get a fun photo with one of his fave celebs:

Don’t they look great? Kathy Griffin looks stunning. Trust me, Darion was geeked beyond words. Woot!!

So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, good night
TR Knight Is Planning His Exit From ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Contrary to rumors going around that Grey’s Anatomy star TR Knight stormed off the set of the show and quit in a huff, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that no such thing has ever happened. That being said, EW further reports that TR is lookin’ to leave the show as soon as he can and is working quietly (or was trying to) with producers to figure out his exit strategy. It looks like his doctor days are numbered. Here is a pic of TR leaving the Hollywood premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (which took place in Westwood, CA) with his cutie boyfriend Mark Cornelson last night:

The revolving door at Grey’s Anatomy has taken another shocking spin. Multiple sources confirm that T.R. Knight has asked to be released from his contract, a request that both ABC and Grey’s show-runner Shonda Rhimes appear poised to grant. “They’re working out the details now,” whispers an ABC insider. (A network rep was unavailable for comment.) There’s no word on when Knight would make his final appearance, but, contrary to a report on the gossip blog crazydaysandnights.com, he has not walked off the show. “He’s still working,” maintains my Grey’s mole. Rumors of Knight’s unhappiness at Grey’s date back to the early days of Isaiahgate. Per an insider, the actor was disappointed that it took Rhimes so long to publicly condemn Washington’s use of the F-word, even as his co-stars (Katherine Heigl, Patrick Dempsey, etc.) rallied to his defense. (The incident led Knight to come out as a gay man.) The boss lady eventually released a statement denouncing Washington’s behavior, but word is, it was too little, too late. Nonetheless, my Grey’s source insists Knight does not want out of his contract for that reason, adding, “He just feels it’s time to move on.” A spokesperson for Knight declined to comment for this story.

I don’t watch the show but I understand that TR‘s character on Grey’s isn’t really doing much on the show these days so it sounds like the perfect time to ease him off the show. Perhaps they don’t have to kill off this character, leaving the option open for him to return at some point. I love TR and I want to see him happy. If he isn’t being fulfilled on the show then he should be allowed to … it remains to be seen if Grey’s producers are willing to let him go. I suppose we’ll hear sooner or later if an amicable split can be reached between the parties. In the meantime, TR can take comfort in the fact that he’s still knockin’ boots with the young Mr. Cornelson.

Got 'Milk'?
‘Milk’ Premieres In San Francisco

Director Gus Van Sant‘s new film Milk, the biopic on the life of San Francisco’s first openly gay leader, premiered at the Castro Theater on Castro Street in San Fran last night … bringing out all of the principal stars of the film, including Sean Penn, James Franco, Diego Luna and more. Here are a few pics from last night’s red carpet arrivals and some info on the film:

It was only fitting that “Milk,” the film about Harvey Milk’s life and death, premiere Tuesday night in the Castro. Milk, San Francisco’s first openly gay leader who was slain 30 years ago, used to call himself “the Mayor of Castro Street,” referring to the main drag through the neighborhood he represented on the Board of Supervisors and the center of the city’s gay and lesbian community. The world premiere of his biopic brought considerable star power to Milk’s beloved Castro Theatre, including director Gus Van Sant and stars Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emile Hirsch and Diego Luna. The film follows Milk’s rise to office and his and Mayor George Moscone’s assassination at City Hall by fellow Supervisor Dan White in 1978. Van Sant said he had been talking about making this film for 18 years. “He’s an American hero,” Van Sant said. “He’s a great example of a man representing his community and his city.” Milk received another tribute earlier in the day, when a historic streetcar featured in the film was dedicated to him. The supervisor had been a champion of public transportation. Tuesday night’s premiere also brought out many of Milk’s old friends who helped usher in the gay rights movement that has led, a generation later, to a fight over the right of same-sex couples to marry. Gay rights activist Cleve Jones, played in the film by Emile Hirsch, said Milk would have been thrilled at the film but angry that the fight over civil rights continued. He pointed across the street, where hundreds were rallying against Proposition 8, a Nov. 4 ballot measure that would rewrite the California constitution to deny same-sex couples the right to marry. “Harvey would be angry,” Jones said, “and he’d still be fighting.”

Harvey Milk was, indeed, a pioneer and very brazenly went against the grain to fight for the things that he believed in despite drawing the anger and hatred from discriminatory bigots. Every openly gay elected official in this country has Harvey Milk to thank for his trailblazing efforts to show that all Americans, regardless of minority status, can make a difference. I’m fairly certain that a large majority of this country have no idea who Harvey Milk was which is why I feel this film is so important. I have no doubt that Sean Penn, who is an amazing actor, will deliver a stunning performance in the role of Harvey Milk and I can’t wait to see this film for myself. We still have a long way to go to secure the basic rights and liberties of the GLBT community in this country (next Tuesday, California will vote on the matter of marriage equality) but, it can be argued, that we are on the right path to securing liberty and justice for all … and mebbe Harvey Milk‘s bravery helped get us on that path. I’m looking forward to seeing this biopic on this hero’s life.

Katherine Heigl Is A Dog Lover/Napper

Here are a few pics of Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl gettin’ up close and personal with her Grey’s co-star TR Knight‘s boyfriend’s dog on the streets of LA last night:

AWW so much love for such a cute puppy. It’s a shame that Katherine had to go and take off with Mark Cornelson‘s dog tho … I wonder if The Mark-Knight will ever be able to get their little poochie back?

Yes, I’m kidding.

Raises much-needed money for AIDS research
Hollywood Gets ‘Hot’

Saturday night saw the 3rd Annual Hot In Hollywood event take place in, you guessed it, Hollywood, CA. Hot In Hollywood is a celebration benefiting charities dedicated to the education, prevention, testing and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Here are a few pics of some of the celebs who came out in support of this year’s event and some deets on what went down Saturday night:

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi didn’t make it to Saturday’s Hot in Hollywood charity event in Los Angeles; they were busy getting married. But there were plenty of other stars singing and dancing to a ’60s-themed evening of song benefiting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation … Host America Ferrera started off the show with a version of the James Bond theme song Diamonds Are Forever and was later joined by co-star Ana Ortiz on Goldfinger. Ferrera’s TV nephew, Mark Indelicato, threw on a fringed jacket to channel a young Michael Jackson on I Want You BackHow I Met Your Mother‘s Neil Patrick Harris, via prompts from the audience, turned Puff the Magic Dragon into the X-rated Ruby the Magic Unicorn … Candis Cayne of Dirty Sexy Money wowed the crowd with a Vegas-ready performance of Thirteen Men, first sung by Ann-Margret. The transsexual actress said she’s still surprised by fans who want her autograph … With nuptial news in the air, talk turned to Grey’s Anatomy‘s T.R. Knight and his steady of eight months, Mark Cornelson. When asked if they were planning a ceremony, Knight simply smiled and said, “I’m very happy that you can ask that question. Very, very happy. And I hope it gets asked a lot.”

Awww … this sounds like it was such a great event. Hot In Hollywood keeps getting bigger and better with each passing year and I am thrilled that so many folks in Hollywood are happily embracing an event like this that is absolutely committed to raising money for HIV/AIDS education, prevention, treatment and research. Kudos to all the stars who make it a priority in their lives to give of their time and money to such important causes.
