The 'Power' Issue
Tom Cruise Does ‘Details’ Magazine

Tom Cruise is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine — The Power Issue. Each year, Details complies a list of the 40 Most Influential Men in the World (you may recall that Kevin Federline was the coverboy for last year’s issue) and has chosen #7 ranked Cruise for the cover:

From the mag: When Barack Obama declared “We are the change we’ve been waiting for,” the pundits scratched their heads. In retrospect, though, it seems as if That One was onto something. For better or worse, we’re living through a moment of intense transformation. In politics, the Bush years have been dustbinned. As far as the economy goes, the heady days of hedge-fund excess have been reduced to burnt toast. And from a Madonna standpoint, the Guy Ritchie era has been swept away. “The Power 40″ reflects this whiplash-inducing volatility. Many of the usual suspects have been replaced with an array of wild cards and agents of change. A home-wrecking home-run hitter? Check. Tech guys who have all of tweendom a-Twitter? Yup. Buddhists with bombs? Uh-huh. This year proved you can never be sure of what comes next (hell, Chinese Democracy finally showed up, didn’t it?). The whole point of power, after all, is to keep ‘em guessing.

Yay! The Twitter guys get my vote … they rule … oh yeah, and the Obama guys, too! I don’t really get why Tom Cruise won the cover of this issue (then again, I didn’t get why K-Fed won his cover last year) but I guess it’s better than putting the so-called “Press Whore” on the cover. After the jump, check out the photo of Tommy that is featured inside the mag along with a portion of the blurb about his power and influence

Katie Holmes Debuts On Broadway In ‘All My Sons’

Katie Holmes made her Broadway debut at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre here in NYC as the Arthur Miller play she is starring in, All My Sons, opened in previews last night. Pink reader Liz was in the hiz last night for Katie‘s debut and offers a very positive review of her performance … here are a few pics of Katie on stage last night:

Liz writes: Just got home from the premier of All My Sons, and I was thoroughly impressed. First of all, John Lithgow blew me away, and Dianne Wiest was outstanding. Patrick Wilson was totally in his element on stage, of course. And Katie Holmes actually really amazed me. It’s not easy to keep up with thespians of this caliber, and she totally held her own. Also, the staging is really minimal, so the actors really had nothing to rely on but their chops. The play’s content is really fascinating, giving them great material, and they all did a fantastic job of bringing it to life. Now on to the gossip … As expected, there was a large Scientology protest outside the theatre beforehand, blah blah blah … Tommy Boy was there, sitting exactly four rows in front of me. He was very congenial and took pictures with a few people, and the audience erupted in applause as soon as he came in to take his seat. The performance went smoothly after the initial ooh’s and ahh’s and everyone respected his privacy. Dustin Hoffman was also there, and spoke with Tom for a bit. As soon as people realized he was in the house as well, he also got a round of applause and a few camera flashes. Katie definitely was looking at Tom during their curtain calls. It was pretty cute, actually. She seemed to be kind of shy about it,and just really hoping she got approval from the audience, which she most certainly did. All in all, a great show, true Arthur Miller style, and worth it to see!

Nice! I’m glad to hear from a real person that Katie was able to hold her on stage with the other very talented players. After the jump, check out couple pics of Tom Cruise‘s arrival at the theater last night, hear what he had to say about his wife’s performance and check out a couple pics of those Scientology protesters that Liz mentioned above …

Suri Holmes-Cruise just gets bigger
Katie Holmes Gets Some Style, New TV Role

She may have come a long way from her days on Dawson’s Creek but Katie Holmes ain’t ready to retire from television just yet. Katie has agreed to guest star on the ABC show Eli Stone this coming season and will reportedly be doing some singing and dancing on the show. Here are a few pics of Katie with her husband Tom Cruise and her humanlike offspring Suri Holmes-Cruise at a studio here in Hollywood, CA where she is filming her new scenes … homegirl got a new ‘do and Suri got herself a cute little Pucci dress:

Actress Katie Holmes will make a guest appearance on ABC’s critically acclaimed “Eli Stone” this season, returning to U.S. network television in a role that will feature her singing and dancing, network executives said on Wednesday. Holmes, 29, who is married to film star Tom Cruise, is due to shoot the guest spot before she makes her Broadway debut this fall in a revival of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons,” alongside Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow. ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson, speaking to a gathering of reporters, said Holmes had wanted to reunite with “Eli Stone” executive producer Greg Berlanti, with whom she worked on “Dawson’s Creek,” the TV teen drama that made Holmes famous in the late 1990s. “It’s a really special piece of business,” McPherson said. “Greg came to me with the idea because he really had a creative way to do it. And he and Katie wanted to get back together and do something.” McPherson also acknowledged that bringing Holmes to “Eli Stone” would assist promotional efforts for an offbeat drama that won critical praise but drew modest ratings in its first season. “It’s a great role for her,” McPherson said. “There is some singing and dancing she does. And she’s exquisite.”

Well, I guess it’s a step in the right direction that Tom is letting Katie work again … I’m surprised he’s cool with her doing a TV gig … he must be loosening the leash a little (you may recall that Tom took control of Katie‘s career after they got together … he put the kibosh on some of her acting plans and she hasn’t enjoyed a successful project since). Suri, it must be said, looks really cute (and really long) in her little Pucci dress. The little Miss (or whatever she really is) has really shot up — she looks much taller than the last time we saw pics of her. Perhaps she’s hitting a growth spurt … maybe our planet’s sun is having an unforeseen effect on her growth patterns. She is a cutie tho .. that dress looks adorable on her.

Spend the weekend with the TomKats
The Beckhams Head To Telluride, CO

David Beckham and his family spent their first 4th of July holiday with their family friends the Cruises in Telluride, CO this weekend. As you may recall, Becks didn’t officially arrive here in the US until July 12 of last year (ahem, on my birthday, I might add) even tho wifey Vicki B. and the boys arrived the month prior to prepare for his arrival, this year was his first chance to enjoy a good ol’ fashioned American Independence Day … and he did so with the Cruise family in Colorado. HMMM. Here are a few pics of Tom Cruise (wearing his nifty cowboy hat) picking up Les Beckhams from the airport this weekend:

I would imagine that all of the Beckhams made their way to Telluride to spend the weekend with the Cruises but Vicki B. does not appear in any of the photos that I’ve seen. Additionally, Katie Holmes wasn’t seen at the airport either but she, most likely, stayed home for the pick-up. It is no secret that the Beckhams and the Cruises are good friends … they tend to spend major holidays and events together (I believe we last saw them all together was at Suri‘s birthday party and then together around Easter). I can’t lie, I am a bit concerned about all this time the families are spending together … I like my Beckhams untouched by crazy and hanging out with the TomKats doesn’t really foster my hopes that they will remain so. That being said, Tom Cruise has really put his bizarre antics on lockdown for the past few months, actually the last year. While it would be great if he actually were sane again, it’s hard to forget all the couch-jumping craziness that he unleashed upon us a couple of years ago. Perhaps the Beckhams are being good influences on them and have been able to counteract the lunacy? I guess only time will tell … in the meantime, the two families continue to hang out together … after all, it is the American way.

Tomkat & Kids show their Yankee Doodles
The Patroit Act

Here are a few photos of Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes (which children Suri Holmes-Cruise and Connor Cruise in tow) walking the streets of Telluride, Co yesterday afternoon, showing off their patriotic colors. Actually, it was just little Suri who was showing her red white and blue pride but the entire family was lookin’ as American as apple pie:

Perhaps Tom was planning on rustling up some grub later on or he was gonna insist that the little doggies get along or something and that is why he felt it necessary to wear that rustic hat and boots ensemble … but in any event, he was dressed for the occasion. It’s unclear why Tom‘s other child, Isabella Cruise, was not along for the stroll — perhaps she had somewhere better to be (like anywhere else) and opted out of coming along for the family jaunt. In any event, I’m sure the Cruises had themselves a very nice, very patriotic 4th of July celebration in the purple mountain’s majesty of Colorado. Xenu Bless, America!

Night At The (Wax) Museum

Tom Cruise took 2/3 of his children (and his sister Anne DeVette) for a little trip to the Hollywood Wax Museum on Hollywood Blvd. here in Hollywood, CA last night. Neither his wife Katie Holmes nor his eldest daughter Isabella Cruise came along for the trip … just his sister, only son and little pretend robot child Suri. Here are a few pics of the fam as they made their way into the museum last night:

While it’s marginally creepy that the limo that was used to transport the Cruises to the museum looks a bit like a hearse (eep!), I think it’s really very creepy that the family made their visit to the wax museum at night … unless that was the point and if so, then good on them. Suri is lookin’ real healthy these days … almost like a real little girl. Tom looks to be sporting his Nazi-esque haircut which prolly means he’s still working on his movie Valkyrie (about the attempted assassination of Adolph Hitler). Yeah, one thing’s for sure … this family is a load of laughs and they really know how to have a good time.
