A Closer Look At Tom Cruise’s Latest Movie Stunt

On Monday we got to see some pretty incredible photos of Tom Cruise filming a very intense and dangerous stunt on the world’s tallest building on the Dubai set of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol … and today we get to check out a couple more photos of Tom in action. While the photos we saw previously were snapped from afar, these new photos were snapped up close and personal:

There were some who did not believe that it was actually Tom Cruise that we saw in the photos before but there is no denying, it’s definitely him. These cool photos were snapped from inside the Burj Kahlifa building while Tom filmed his M:I 4 scenes. I gotta say, I’m still really damn impressed that Tom would choose to do this sort of very dangerous stunt work himself … that being said, I’ve always suspected that Tom was a little nuts — this is proof positive.

Strung up
Tom Cruise Takes His Love Of Stunt Work To New Heights

In early October we saw photos of Tom Cruise strung up on safety wires as he filmed a few stunt scenes for his upcoming sequel film Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Today we get to see a couple more photos of stuntman Tom in action … but this time, he is strung up a wee bit higher … near the top of the world’s tallest building — Burj Kahlifa in Dubai:

From jumping off buildings to fighting with samurai swords and scaling mountains without ropes, Tom Cruise has always insisted on doing his own stunts when making an action movie. And this weekend the actor proved he is still very much the adrenaline junkie as he dangled almost 2,717 ft in the air from the tallest building in the world. The actor was filming near the top of the Burj Kahlifa in Dubai for scenes for the fourth Mission: Impossible film. On Saturday, the actor was snapped hanging precariously from the observation deck of the building, which is 124 floors high, as fans watched in awe and terror from the street below. Dressed all in black, the 48-year-old ran across the windows of the tower as technicians and film crew watched nervously from an open window above him. Another actor hung alongside him for the scene, which see Cruise jumping over him during a chase round the exterior of the building. A helicopter hovered just ten feet away from the building as crew inside filmed the scene for the movie, which will be released next year. And even by his standards, this weekend’s stunt was Cruise’s most dangerous yet, as onlookers watched with their heart in their mouths. Cruise was later joined by his co-stars Jeremy Renner, 39, and Paula Patton, 34, at the Armani hotel where they held a press conference to announce that the fourth installment in the movie franchise will be called Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Yikes! See, and I thought Tom Cruise had gotten over his craziness … this is insane! You absolutely gotta hand it to the guy … doing your own stunts is one thing, but this stunt is just outrageous. I cannot believe he let himself but strung out a window like that … and then filmed movie scenes! Insane. Say what you will about Tom Cruise, he is a man that is dedicated to his craft. I wonder if he’ll ever be able to outdo this stunt. Are you impressed?

Suffering for their art
Tom Cruise & Jeremy Renner Get Wet For ‘Mission: Impossible 4’

On Friday we got our first look at actor Jeremy Renner on the Prague set of Mission: Impossible 4 filming his first scenes with lead actor Tom Cruise. Today we get to see new photos that show that shizz got seriously serious on the M:I 4 set … Jeremy and Tom had to get in the water to film in the freezing Prague weather:

HMMM … yeah, I’m not sure what the showering situation turned out to be but … you gotta give it up to these guys … I’m certain it is no small feat filming scenes like this when the temps are near freezing. Here’s hoping the guys managed to get warm as quickly as possible after filming … in any way possible.

Jeremy Renner Joins Tom Cruise On The ‘Mission: Impossible 4’ Set

Yesterday we saw photos of former Lost star Josh Holloway on the Prague set of Mission: Impossible 4 and today we get to see photos of Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner also on the set of M:I 4. Here are photos of Renner‘s first day of filming on set during a night shoot last night with lead star Tom Cruise:

While I like me some Josh Holloway, I’m really looking forward to seeing Jeremy Renner in M:I 4. Tommy boy is never the real draw for me where these movies are concerned but I have to admit, he does a really good job playing the role of super spy Ethan Hunt so … I don’t mind him at all. I’ve been so impressed with Jeremy in everything that I’ve seen (most recently The Town) so I know he’s gonna be great. I believe Mission: Impossible 4 will be in theaters next Summer … I can’t wait to see these boys in action.

Tom Cruise Gets Shirtless & Strung Up For ‘Mission: Impossible 4’

Last Saturday we got to see some photos of actor Tom Cruise on the Prague set of his new sequel film Mission: Impossible 4 … today we get to see new photos of Tom on set, but this time he’s taking a bit more of an active role in filming … by doing his own stunts:

Tom Cruise showed off why he’s one of the highest paid action stars in the world as he filmed some daring stunts in Prague earlier today. The 48-year-old is currently in the Czech Republic working on the fourth instalment in his hugely popular Mission: Impossible Franchise. As well as his impressively limber moves Cruise also showcased his impressive toned physique as he stripped to the waist. Cruise looks to be in peak physical condition, with rippling arm muscles, a defined, washboard stomach and a six-pack many men half his age would kill for. Hanging from wires attached to the waistband of his dark green trousers, Cruise hung onto a pulley as he sped down a zip line that was suspended between buildings. Reprising his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt, Cruise simulated leaping from the third floor of a building onto a moving truck. Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner will be joining in the action with Cruise this time around, starring as Cruise’s number two in the movie. It has been rumoured that producers are setting Renner up as a possible replacement for Cruise in future Mission instalments, although the mega-star is expected to reprise his Hunt role for the fifth movie. In addition to Renner, Paula Patton and Josh Holloway have been added to the cast, along with returning cast members Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames.

Yes, Tom Cruise did get half-nekkid to film these new scenes. Wanna see what he looked like flying around Prague on suspension wires while shirtless? Check it out, after the jump …

Tom Cruise Surfaces On The Set Of ‘Mission: Impossible 4’

Tom Cruise is bringing his Mission: Impossible character Ethan Hunt back to life in Prague this week as principal filming has begun on the upcoming sequel film Mission: Impossible 4. Here are a few photos of Tom in various spy costumes on the M:I 4 set:

It’s been four years since he last graced the big screen as secret agent Ethan Hunt. But Tom Cruise looked right at home as he reprised his role for Mission: Impossible IV. For his first day of shooting in Prague he was seen in a series of different outfits and at one stage was even sporting a bruise on his forehead, which appeared to be the handiwork of the make-up department. In another scene he was virtually unrecognisable as he dressed as a Russian soldier, complete with the sort of moustache that would make Tom Selleck envious. For another guise he was in modern day dress in a Bruce Springsteen T-shirt, with his hair looking windblown. And it’s clear the new installment is going to offer even more spy adventures than the first thee … Lost star Josh Holloway has joined the cast and will star alongside Cruise, Oscar-nominee Jeremy Renner and British actor Simon Pegg. It will be released in the U.S. in December 2011.

Blah. As much as I hate to admit it, I am kinda a big fan of the Mission: Impossible films. Despite the fact that Tom Cruise kinda bugs, I’m a sucker for action spy films like this (including The Bourne Identity films, Salt, etc.) … and I’m curious to see how Simon Pegg and Josh Holloway will fit in in this new movie. I’m actually quite grateful that Tom has tuned down the crazy in recent years … it really makes speaking favorably of him less of an embarrassing thing to do.

Tom Cruise Wants You To Know He Was NOT Involved In A Motorcycle Accident

Over the weekend there was a BREAKING NEWS report that Tom Cruise was involved in a motorcycle accident that very nearly resulted in his DEATH were it not for his quick thinking and adept ability to leap to safety from his bike as it skidded towards DOOM! In the wake of that report (which has since been amended), stories quickly spread about Cruise‘s condition far and wide. It turns out that no such accident ever occurred — at all — and, in addition to publicly denying the accident report, Cruise went out for a little ride on his shiny red Ducati motorcycle to prove that neither he nor his bike were injured in the fabricated accident:

This just in—believing everything you read online can be risky business. In case you were worried after reading the breathless “exclusive” headline on Hollywoodlife.com today proclaiming “Tom Cruise Hurt in Motorcycle Accident—His Quick Moves Saved His Life!,” go ahead and exhale. Mr. Mission: Impossible is A-OK. His publicist, Amanda Lundberg, tells E! News that the 47-year-old Cruise was not involved in any such incident. “Totally false,” she says of the report, which also claimed Cruise needed medical attention at a nearby hospital. “Not true at all.” Cruise’s official Twitter feed also shoots down the report: “Tom NOT in motorcycle accident 2day…Tom tells us he hasn’t been on his bike in days due 2 the weather, but when it clears up, look out. ;)” There was a bike accident in L.A. today involving a red Ducati near Koi Restaurant, and while similar, it was not obviously not Cruise’s motorcycle. Besides, didn’t Hollywoodlife get the message? It’s Cruise who’s usually doing the real-life heroics, not the one in need of rescue.

While I am not the biggest Tom Cruise fan, I am happy to know that he was not involved in any kind of accident. The guy may be cruiseazy but I don’t wish him any harm or ill will. You know, if the guy who got into that reported motorcycle accident was wearing the same kind of helmet that Tommy boy is wearing in these photos, I can see how it might be easy to get the identity wrong. In any event, the happy news is that Tom Cruise is safe and sound and still tooling around LA on his shiny bike. The world can continue to turn now.

When the Saints go marching in!
The New Orleans Saints Win Super Bowl XLIV

Congratulations goes out to the New Orleans Saints today who, as I’m sure you are well aware, won Super Bowl XLIV last night at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. Props go out to the Indianapolis Colts for playing a strong game and for taking an early lead (making it look like they were going to blow out the Saints) but, in the end, the New Orleans Saints pulled off the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history and ended up winning their FIRST Super Bowl Championship ever by a final score of 31 – 17:

The New Orleans Saints almost left when their city flooded and their stadium had been turned into a shelter, a disaster seeming to provide the perfect escape route for a team in search of a better stadium and a bigger market. Displaced and disheartened, the Saints haltingly returned to a repaired Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. And a team so awful that its fans used to wear bags on their heads came to symbolize and be embraced by a battered but rebuilding community. On Sunday, with a quarterback who had hitched his career to resurrecting the Saints and with a team that played nearly flawlessly, the Saints gave New Orleans a reason to do what it does better than any other American city: celebrate. In the franchise’s first Super Bowl, the Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts, 31-17, sending New Orleanians into the streets for a party. “Who Dat?” Saints fans ask about which opponent might beat their team. Now they have their answer: nobody. The Saints are the N.F.L.’s champions, after 42 seasons of futility. Confetti fell on the Saints here, but back in New Orleans, where Mardi Gras begins in less than two weeks, Bourbon Street erupted in joy, four and a half years after the city was nearly engulfed by despair when the levees broke. “Louisiana, by way of New Orleans, is back,” said the Saints’ owner, Tom Benson, clutching the Lombardi Trophy. “And it shows the whole world.” The play that sealed the victory, a comeback from a 10-0 deficit, came with a little more than three minutes to play at the expense of a New Orleans native. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, a son of the beloved former Saints quarterback Archie Manning, was intercepted by Saints cornerback Tracy Porter — a Louisiana native, too — when the Saints blitzed. Porter jumped in front of the intended receiver and returned the interception 74 yards for a touchdown that gave the Saints their winning margin. “Four years ago, whoever thought this would be happening?” quarterback Drew Brees said. “Eighty-five percent of the city was under water. All of the residents evacuated across the county. Most people not knowing if New Orleans could ever come back or if the organization or team would ever come back” … Brees was the M.V.P. of the game, but Saints Coach Sean Payton made the most valuable — and the gutsiest — decision. With the Saints trailing by 4 points and kicking off to the Colts to open the second half, Payton called for an onside kick. The Saints call the play “ambush,” and that was what it was. Colts players admitted after the game that they did not see it coming. Thomas Morstead, the kicker on the play, said: “I wasn’t worried. I was terrified” … At long last, the Saints have arrived, and they brought New Orleans back with them.

What a game, eh? As I said yesterday before the game got underway, I was not rooting for any particular team because I didn’t have a vested interest in either side winning but you gotta admit, it’s pretty sweet to see the people of New Orleans cheering in the streets just 4 years after their city was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The Saints‘ win was well-deserved, they played hard … make smart moves … and, in the end, proved they were the best team of the year. After the jump, check out some of the celebs who were in the hiz at Super Bowl XLIV last night …

Tom Cruise Gets Back Into The Swing Of Things On The Set Of His New Movie

When last we saw photos of Tom Cruise hard at work on the set of a new film, he was jumpin’ all over the place for his new film Knight and Day. Over the weekend, Cruise was back in LA hard at work on another new film titled The Hardy Men and, yep you guessed it, he was back to his daredevil ways … behold:

It’s clear that Tommy boy likes to work hard for his money. With his fame and cachet, he does NOT need to be endangering his life like this to do his own stunts. It’s clear Tom likes going for the real deal. While the pessimist in me just thinks he likes to be a show-off, the optimist in me can appreciate that he does know that movies that feature stars doing their own stunts look better. I’m not sure if all this jumpin’ around is enough to get me into the theater to see his movies but he is workin’ hard nonetheless. Are any of y’all impressed at all?

TomKat Reunite In Seville, Spain

As cute as Tobey Maguire and Ruby Sweetheart are in their photos, I guess I have to also admit that Tom Cruise posing with his robot daughter Suri Holmes-Cruise is a pretty adorable sight as well. Wifey Katie Holmes and Suri made their way to Seville, Spain where Tom is hard at work on his film Knight and Day (previously titled Wichita) so that the happy family could be whole again:

Katie sure looks blissfully happy in that first photo, don’t she? Yeah. The whole family have been lookin’ really happy every time they step out together, which is a good thing … and goes a long way to calming my suspicious heart. Let’s just assume, for now, that everything is perfect in TomKat‘s world no matter how cleverly orchestrated it may appear ;)
