More Action For Tom Cruise On The Set Of ‘Wichita’

Leapin' lizards!
Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Last week we saw a few photos of Tom Cruise doing some dangerous-looking stuntwork on the Boston, MA set of his new film Wichita and today we see more stunty photos that outdo the photos we saw before. Here are photos of Tom leaping from a platform onto a fast moving car as he films new scenes for the flick:

Okay … now, I think Tom is just showing off. It is cool, tho, that he is willing to do such dangerous work just to make his film look more believable. I must commend the man for taking these dangerous risks for the sake of his craft. I still think the guy is a bit of a nutter but he’s a committed actor … or mebbe he’s an actor that needs to be committed? In any event, these pics are cool.

Tom Cruise’s Stunt-ed Growth

Into Action
Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Filming continues this week on the Boston, MA set of the new Tom Cruise action film Wichita and it looks like Tommy boy is really getting into character. Not content to let a measly stuntman have all the fun, Tom insisted on performing all of his own stunts on a shoot yesterday that required his character to leap from one car to another car while speeding down the freeway:

It’s very clear that Tom likes to be a hands on kind of actor … you may recall that he got all grabby with co-star Cameron Diaz last week and this week he’s all leaping from speeding car to speeding car. I have to say, it is nice to see him back to work again … it goes a long way in helping people forget his crazy behavior of the past few years. I mean, I won’t forget his craziness but keeping bizzy with work will do much to help repair his image. I can’t help but be impressed that he likes to do his own stunts in these action films … I believe he did many of his own stunts in the Mission: Impossible films. I don’t know that the dreamy movie star Tom Cruise from the 80’s/90’s will ever come back to us but as long as the cruisazy couch-jumping nutball stays at bay I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

Tom Cruise Has Got A Gun

Everybody RUN!!!!!!
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Tom Cruise, who has been in Boston, MA for the past week or so filming his new movie Wichita with co-star Cameron Diaz and others, was spotted getting in a bit of shooting practice at a gun range earlier today … behold:

Yeah, I dunno about you but the sight of Tom Cruise wielding a weapon like this scares the hell out of me. The fact that he regularly hones his skills to remain a sharpshooter is terrifying … and the most likely reason that Katie Holmes hasn’t packed up her robot baby and made a run for it. I totally get that this gun practice is necessary for the role in his new movie but … Tom Cruise + handgun = EEP!!

Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz Film Scenes For ‘Wichita’

Arrested development
Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Earlier this week we saw photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes jogging the streets of Boston, MA together because the couple have temporarily relocated there so that Tom could begin work on his new film Wichita. Today we get to see the first photos of Tom filming scenes for the movie with his co-star Cameron Diaz. I understand that Wichita tells the tale of a woman (Diaz) unaware that when she meets a man (Cruise) on a blind date that he is a federal agent involved in a secret operation to protect what could be an infinite source of energy … or some shizz like that. Um, Cam … look at what your blind date is wearing. A ball cap, sunglasses and nondescript clothing … HELLO! An ensemble like that just screams “federal agent involved in a secret operation to protect what could be an infinite source of energy”:

Um … yeah, I dunno who they are trying to fool by passing off this movie description as an accurate representation of the film cuz … by the looks of these photos, it seems to me that Tom and Cameron are filming a movie about how Tom and Katie Holmes met, “fell in love” and got married. Meh. If Wichita really turns out to be about a federal agent … blah blah blah … then I’ll surely take a pass. BUT, if Cruise ever really wanted to make a film portraying the real way he managed to brainwash finagle Katie into marrying him then I’d be the first person in line to see it.

Katie Homes & Tom Cruise Run The Streets Of Boston, MA

Run, TomKat, Run!
Monday, September 21st, 2009

Tom Cruise has relocated his family to Boston, MA for the filming of his new movie Wichita and he and wifey Katie Holmes were spotted jogging on the streets of Bean Town earlier today. Oh and wouldn’t you know it, TomKat were even dressed alike … behold:

For as crazy as things started out for these two, they really seem to have leveled off quite a bit. I can’t say that I’m totally convinced that TomKat are a product true love and not of successful brainwashing but they do seem happy and have seemed happy for sometime now. I still find it odd that Tom tends to shadow Katie more times than not … even during their jog he had to reach out and hold her hand (tenderly? or to keep her from bolting?). I expect there will be more TomKat sightings in Boston in the coming weeks … you have been warned.

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes & Suri Frolic In The Grass

Too cute
Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Okay … on the real, I’m not the biggest TomKat fan but even I have to admit that these new photos of the happy family laying in the grass in Melbourne, Australia (where Katie is working on a new film and very narrowly escaped with her life from a flaming car accident a couple of weeks ago) are just WAY TOO cute … behold:

They say you can’t improve on perfection but somehow the Cruise family always seem to find a way. The model family enjoyed another idyllic day out as they relaxed by the lake at Government House in Melbourne with daughter Suri today. As they cuddled up together, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their adorable daughter looked every inch the poster image for the perfect life. Katie, 30, was taking a well-earned day off from working on her latest movie Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, which she is filming in Australia. The family were reunited last weekend when Tom flew out to join Katie and Suri, bearing two dozen red roses for his wife. During his stay, the Hollywood star found time to take Suri to an aquarium, as well as going to an Australian Rules football match with Katie’s co-star Guy Pearce Tom, 47, is due to leave country tomorrow and the family were obviously keen to make the most of their precious time together. Dressed casually in jeans, a make-up less Katie cuddled three-year-old Suri under a blanket, while Tom looked lovingly on. As she snuggled up to her mother, all that was visible of the little girl were her grey trainers and mop of dark hair. Wearing dark shades, Tom looked the devoted Hollywood dad as the family larked around in the park.

OY … these are cute pics. I’m gonna take them at face value and not assume that the family was aware that they were being photographed (and therefore putting on a show) and just enjoy these pics as the insane cuteness that they are. They do make an adorable family, manufactured or not :)

David Beckham Returns ‘Home’ To The LA Galaxy

Doesn't receive a very warm welcome from some diehard fans
Monday, July 20th, 2009

Altho David Beckham played his first game with his US team the LA Galaxy last week on the East Coast, last night was his first home game with the Galaxy since he defected for the first half of the MLS Soccer season to play with his newer team AC Milan. Ironically enough, the Galaxy faced Milan in a friendly match at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA last night … which essentially pit Becks’s teams against one another. A sizable contingency of vocal and very loyal LA Galaxy fans took the opportunity yesterday to let David Beckham know exactly what they think of him … and it wasn’t very pretty:

As homecomings go, David Beckham’s return to Carson on Sunday to join the Galaxy for an exhibition game against AC Milan was the exact opposite of the Manny Ramirez lovefest that broke out at Dodger Stadium last week. It started out nasty and took a turn toward ugly as the teams left the field at halftime of what would become a 2-2 tie against the team Beckham played for last season and hopes to play for again next season. Incensed at remarks hurled at him by fans sitting in a corner of the Home Depot Center, Beckham approached them to urge them to calm down. One hurdled the barrier separating the stands from the end zone and was escorted away by security officers. “One of them jumps over to shake my hand,” he said, “but maybe not.” Definitely not. “They were saying things that really weren’t very nice,” Beckham said. “There’s always going to be a certain reaction. The majority of fans here wanted to watch the game and the great players and I think they enjoyed themselves.” Beckham got some payback in the 64th minute, when he took a corner kick in front of his most virulent critics in the so-called “Riot Squad” and watched as teammate Bryan Jordan headed the ball home. He turned to the fans to share his glee, even if they wanted no part of it. “I’m not disappointed because it doesn’t affect me,” he said of the boos. “At the end of the day you can’t be liked by everybody.” Beckham was taken out in the 75th minute after a strong performance. He finally tipped the jeers/cheers meter in his favor, but he will be a polarizing figure as long as he’s here, an obligation that lasts at least through the MLS season. This was supposed to be a friendly game, but the fans’ venom toward Beckham became the overriding story. Landon Donovan, restored to the captaincy he was forced to relinquish to Beckham in 2007, said he expected the story to change. “If he keeps playing like that, I’m sure people are going to be behind him,” Donovan said. And maybe not entirely. Not to justify the actions of morons who cross the line to insulting players’ families and other obscenities, it’s clear you can’t fool the soccer faithful. Fans here know Beckham was so intent on not coming back to the Galaxy that he reportedly paid $3 million to ensure his loan to AC Milan was extended four months past his original March 9 MLS return. Many Galaxy fans see the multi-tattooed Englishman as an over-the-hill, overpaid superstar who condescends to play once in a while, when he’s not counting the royalties on his jersey sales. They’re not entirely wrong, though injuries limited him to five games in 2007. On Sunday, they let him know how they felt in no uncertain terms.

I have to say, I’m pretty sure Becks has endured worse from rabid soccer fans in Europe … but in all honesty, what did he expect? Yes, there are some fans who will support and cheer for him no matter what he does but you cannot really fault the other fans who feel he betrayed them and, in all honesty, has done very little to actually help the team win games. To give another perspective, since I was in attendance at last night’s game, there was another contingency of LA Galaxy fans called the Angel City Brigade who were cheering for Becks and the Galaxy. On the side of the stadium where I was, there were NO boos at all for Becks thruout the entire game. After the jump, check out some pics of Becks in action during last night’s game along with some deets about the game itself
