Earlier this year, Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps got himself into a bit of controversy when a photo surfaced of Phelps puffin’ on a big ass water pipe or bong, if you will, which is traditionally used for the smoking of marijuana. For weeks after, Phelps endured the fallout from that controversy and managed to soldier thru and move on. Now that fellow professional athlete Tiger Woods is dealing with his own pile of mess (ie. the Tiger Woods Cheating Scandal), Phelps is offering his sympathies and a few pearls of wisdom to Woods in a show of support:

The 24-year-old American, who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics last year, was forced to apologise early this year after being photographed inhaling from a pipe used to smoke marijuana. No charges were laid. “I’d be the first to admit I’ve made a lot of mistakes both in and out of the pool,” said Phelps. “But of the mistakes I’ve made I’ve never made the same mistake again. I’ve become a much stronger person and I’ve helped other people not make the same mistakes.” Phelps, who will be competing for the first time in a British pool, confirmed he planned to take part in the 2012 London Olympics but would not reveal what schedule he was planning. “The goals I have for London are very high and they are going to be very challenging,” he said. “I think there is something there that excites me and I know what I want to achieve and if I achieve those then I can look back and say I’ve done everything in the sport that I wanted to do.”

Michael Phelps is a great example of what could happen for Tiger Woods if he manages to successfully weather the shitstorm he has gotten himself into … if he does it properly. Sure, Phelps gettin’ caught with a bong is much different than Woods allegedly gettin’ caught with at least 14 different women but the end result can be the same … people forget in time. Tiger could very well end up just like Phelps … competing again — and single! Yeah, I bet Phelps really can identify with Tiger on many levels … at least Woodsie knows he’s got one person on his side.

After all the crazy drama flooding the universe from the seemingly epic (and endless) tale known as the Tiger Woods Cheating Scandal, it is being reported today by RadarOnline that Elin Nordegren has gotten herself a divorce lawyer and plans to formally end her marriage to Tiger Woods. Could it be? Are Tiger and Elin really about to be dunzo?

Tiger Woods’ wife Elin has decided to file divorce papers, RadarOnline.com is reporting exclusively. Too many women and too many lies have pushed her over the edge. The financial terms of the split are going to take a while to work out, but as of right now Elin has made up her mind that she can no longer be married to Tiger, a source familiar with the situation told RadarOnline.com. “She’s not going to let Tiger talk his way out of this,” the source said. “There’s nothing he can say to erase years of betrayal.” At least 14 women have been sexually linked to Tiger since Rachel Uchitel was first revealed as Tiger’s mistress for the past five months. When Tiger’s affair with Uchitel became public it led to a bitter fight that ended with Tiger driving his car into a fire hydrant and tree. But things only got worse for the golfer as he was unmasked as a serial cheater in the aftermath of his bizarre crash. Elin has been spotted without her wedding ring in recent days and the source told RadarOnline.com that she considers the marriage over. Several reports have said she will fly to Sweden for the holidays and while that has not yet been confirmed it is clear that divorce papers will be filed sooner rather than later.

A new day, a couple new developments in the Tiger Woods Cheating Scandal. As you should already be well aware, Tiger Woods announced yesterday that he will be taking an “indefinite break” from professional golf as well as admitting his marital infidelity to the world in a statement posted on his official website. Now we are hearing that Woods, his wife Elin Nordegren and his two children Sam Alexis (who is 2 years old) and Charlie Axel (who was just born back in February of this year) may be moving to Sweden to escape the intense media glare here in the US. Now, I’m not sure if that is truly the case (my gut tells me that just Elin and the kids are going to Sweden) but a small moving truck was spotted outside one of Woods’s homes which removed 5 big boxes so … it’s possible that someone is moving somewhere. In the wake of Tiger Woods’ infidelity and career hiatus revelation, a new report emerges that he and wife Elin Nordegren are planning to move out of their Florida mansion and head for her native Sweden to escape further media scrutiny. A close friend of the former model tells ABC News, “Tiger is going to Sweden with his wife, and they want to leave as soon as possible.” Official confirmation is yet to be made by Woods, Nordegren, or their people. Nevertheless, it was reported recently that Nordegren might have purchased a $2.29 million house on an island near Stockholm last week by herself. At that time, the 28-year-old mother of two children was accompanied by her twin sister Josefin. Woods was nowhere to be seen. In the meantime, more and more women step forward to claim alleged affairs with the avid golfer. And instead of making direct confirmation if he had flings with any of those women, Woods prefers to play it coy, simply admitting to an “infidelity”, which he says has caused disappointment and hurt to so many people, most of all his wife and children. From TMZ: A truck pulled up to Tiger Woods’ home an hour ago in Windermere, Florida and removed 5 big boxes from the house. The truck driver went inside and removed 5 or 6 moving boxes from the house, put them in the back of the truck and left. We got a pic of the truck as it sat in the driveway. A security team watched as the boxes were removed, and then flanked the truck as it left the property. No word on who’s stuff is being moved, but Elin Nordegren and the kids have been living there since the incident two weeks ago. Tiger has been nowhere in sight.

OY!! Yes, it’s plainly obvs that there may be a lot of movement to come for the Woods family in the coming days/weeks. I still cannot believe how messy this scandal has become … I was sure that something was going on with those other women but I had no idea just how deep in the crap Tiger Woods was really in. Cheaters never prosper, that’s for sure.

And so … the latest installment of the Tiger Woods Cheating Scandal is upon us. Late afternoon Friday, Woods posted an official statement on his official website first acknowledging his marital infidelity and secondly announcing that he is taking an “indefinite break” from competing in professional golf. Here is the full text of his latest statement:

I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try. I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What’s most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing. After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person. Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.

In order for a person who so desperately tries to protect his privacy to release 3 official and very public statements (first one HERE, second one HERE) in the wake of a firestorm of cheating allegations, you just KNOW the shit had to hit the fan, like, Whoa! In the span of a couple of weeks, Tiger‘s assessment of this Cheating Scandal went from a mere “embarrassing situation” to “transgressions” and now to admitted “infidelity” … at least he seems to be more comfortable coming clean about what it is that is really going on. I’m not sure who he’s referring to when he thanks those who offered “compassion and concern” for him during this “difficult period” … I’d be very interested to know who these people are that feel bad for him because he got caught cheating on his wife with reportedly (and at last count) 10 different women. With this announcement, I suspect that Tiger Woods will find himself a dank hole to crawl into in the hopes that this mess will eventually go away. It remains to be seen what his wife Elin Nordegren will do with the couple’s children but I’m guessing that she will not be following faithfully behind him as he tries to hide away from the world in said dank hole. At least Tiger Woods is being more forthright about this behavior … I guess we’ll have to see what will come next from this ongoing and UNBELIEVABLY messy saga.

Earlier today we learned that a “middle-aged blond woman” was rushed to the hospital from Tiger Woods‘s Florida home in the wee hours last night after an ambulance was dispatched to respond to a 911 call. It has since been confirmed that this woman is, in fact, Barbro Holmberg — mother of Tiger‘s wife Elin Nordegren:

The woman rushed to a hospital from Tiger Woods’s Florida home was his mother-in-law, Barbro Holmberg, hospital spokesman Dan Yates confirmed. An ambulance took Holmberg, 57, a well-known politician in Sweden, to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla., early Tuesday morning. “Last evening Barbro Holmberg, mother of Elin Woods, was admitted to Health Central Hospital with stomach pain. She’s in stable condition and is currently undergoing evaluation,” Yates said Tuesday. “Media reports other than this attributed to this matter have been erroneous and speculative, and we ask that her privacy be respected at this time.” A family member also confirms that Holmberg is stable and is being evaluated. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department released a record of a 911 call from Woods’s house in Windermere at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday. Nordegren is one of Holmberg’s three children with her former husband, Swedish journalist Thomas Nordegren. Holmberg, a member of the Social Democratic party, served as minister of migration and asylum from 2003 to 2006.

HMMMM … a concerned mother flies overseas to attend to her daughter who is dealing with a very public cheating scandal that seems to grow exponentially by the second suddenly comes down with stomach pain and we’re to believe the two matters are not related? OK. Things have been relatively quiet in the Tiger Woods Cheating Scandal for the past few days … except for a bunch of new allegations of new mistresses coming to light (bringing, thus far, the count of “other women” Tiger is said to be cheating with to a grand total of 9) there had been no other news to report on the events and circumstances that erupted from his car accident just after Thanksgiving … until now. RadarOnline is reporting that Elin Nordegren, Tiger‘s wife, got fed up with all of these new mistresses coming to light and has packed up her bags and moved out of their home. I guess she drew the line when the mistress count got to 9. As if that wasn’t crazy enough, a new 911 call was placed from the Woods‘ home and a women was taken to the hospital overnight last night (presumably Nordegren‘s mother Barbro Holmberg, who just arrived in the country to lend her support to her daughter). Yes, folks, the shizz has hit the proverbial fan … and it’s gettin’ even messier. But first things first … here are the alleged deets of Elin‘s decision to move out:

At last, the end may be in sight for the Tiger Woods Cheating Scandal because Rachel Uchitel (Mistress #1) has decided to stay quiet about her relationship with Woods and plans to “disappear for a while” in order to keep her silence … and according to TMZ, she is zipping her lips for free! Uchitel‘s attorney Gloria Allred was scheduled to give a press conference on her behalf yesterday morning here in SoCal to discuss matters surrounding the scandal. Abruptly and without explanation, the press conference was called off and it was assumed that it was canceled due to a settlement (perhaps monetarily) agreement between Uchitel and Woods. TMZ is reporting today that NO MONEY deal was worked out between Uchitel and Woods and that she decided not to say anything due to “fear and secrets”:

Sources tell TMZ Rachel Uchitel did not make any financial deal with Tiger Woods — and there are two reasons she torpedoed her scheduled news conference yesterday — fear and secrets. Sources say in the wee hours of the morning yesterday, after many phone calls back and forth between Rachel, Tiger and their reps, Rachel decided not to come out fighting at a news conference. She walked away without taking a cent from Tiger Woods. One very connected source said, “This was absolutely not about money.” Sources say Rachel became “scared for her safety” because she knows so much about Tiger, his alleged affairs and a variety of other Woods matters. We’re told Tiger confided in Rachel … she knows specifics about “other women,” as well as information about Tiger’s marriage. The sources were quick to point out, Rachel does not fear Tiger, as much as she fears all the other people caught in what is becoming a very large net. HMMM … no matter what she’s afraid of, fear is fear and I can’t say that I really blame her for keeping quiet, that is, if this report is to be believed. TMZ also sniffed out the circumstances surrounding Tiger Woods‘s most recent rendezvous with Rachel Uchitel in Australia last month. According to TMZ, Woods‘s friend and employee Bryon Bell purchased a plane ticket for Uchitel to travel clandestinely to Oz so that she could be with Woods during the Australian Masters tournament mid-November (Bell even flew with her and booked her hotel accommodations on his own credit card) … TMZ even has the emails to prove their claim. BUT, it really sounds like Uchitel is going to keep quiet about all this drama … at least for now. No word on whether or not she will keep Gloria Allred as her legal representation but I’m guessing that if Uchitel is planning to disappear (ie. stay out of the media spotlight) then Allred will lose interest and cut her lose. As it stands now, with everyone involved keepin’ quiet, this Cheating Scandal might die down a bit and may go away altogether (much to Tiger Woods‘s satisfaction, I’m sure). We shall see.

Earlier today we learned that Tiger Woods posted an official statement on his official website (the second in as many days) in regards to all the drama going on in his life these days but right now we get to see the official police photos of Tiger‘s smashed car … which may escalate the drama even further. You may recall that he got into a pretty serious fender bender in the wee hours of last Friday morning when he first smashed into a fire hydrant and then his neighbor’s tree. Those hits caused pretty severe damage to the front end of his car …

… but curiously, the back windows of BOTH sides of his car were also smashed in — as if they were bashed in by someone, for example, wielding a golf club. HMMMM:

Official police photos of Tiger Woods’ crashed car were released Wednesday afternoon and they show that rear windows were smashed on BOTH sides of the vehicle. The damage to the black Cadillac SUV is extensive and shows that the golfer’s one-car smashup at 2:31 a.m. November 27 was more dramatic than he has indicated. What is most interesting, though, is the fact that the rear side windows are smashed on both sides of the car. Tiger’s wife Elin is said to have smashed a window with a golf club to help pull him out of the vehicle after he crashed. But there is nothing in the police report that indicates either side of the car was blocked, raising the question of why did Elin smash windows on both sides?

Now, because the rumor is that Tiger and his wife Elin were arguing and she may or may not have scratched his face (police aren’t sure he injured his face in the accident as no blood was found on the steering wheel) it’s entirely possible that she chased him out of the house with one of his golf clubs and smashed in his windows as he drove away. The couple told the police that Elin used one of Tiger‘s golf clubs to get him out of the car after he crashed it … but does that mean she smashed the windows on both sides in order to get him out of the car? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. It is my personal belief that the couple got into an argument over those cheating allegations (of which new proof came to light earlier today) and she banged up his car before he crashed into the fire hydrant and tree. I doubt we’ll ever get confirmation that that is what happened … but all of this circumstantial evidence seems to be pointing in that direction … I mean, right?

And so … the Tiger Woods drama just keeps growing bigger and bigger. Just when you thought it might simmer down, another new development comes out that sheds more light on all the rumors swirling around. As you may recall, Tiger Woods got into a car accident last Friday morning after he allegedly got into a fight with his wife over rumors that he cheated with a woman named Rachel Uchitel. Tiger then released a statement claiming full responsibility for the accident but, curiously, refused to answer police questions surrounding the circumstances of that accident. The police decided to cite Woods with a moving violation (a ticket) and that seems to be the end of that bit of drama … but while all of that was going down, another woman named Jaimee Grubbs came out with allegations that she, too, enjoyed an extra-marital affair with Tiger Woods … and she has the voicemails and text messages which seem to prove her claims. In the wake of her revelations, Tiger Woods posted another official statement on his official website which seems to allude to his acknowledgment of this affair. He doesn’t come right out and admit an affair but he does admit that he is guilty of “transgressions” against his family. Here is the full text of his newest statement:

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it’s difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

To me, it sounds like Tiger is admitting to infidelities when he talks about “transgressions” (more than one?) but he is adamant about keeping his wife out of the drama as much as he can. I’m not entirely sure I believe his claim that his wife was completely innocent of the drama that unfolded on the night of his car accident (after all, why was he speeding away from home at 2AM so quickly that he plowed into a fire hydrant AND a neighbor’s tree?) but it really sounds like that is his story and he is stickin’ to it. My guess is that he will do everything he can to appease his wife … which prolly means he will take the blame for pretty much everything.

That is not to say that he should be without blame … after all, if those voicemails released by Jaimee Grubbs (who is a former reality TV “star” who appeared on the VH1 show Tool Academy) to US Weekly magazine are any indication, he really does have a few transgressions to be sorry for. As was expected by pretty much everyone on planet Earth considering all the drama stemming from his car crash incident last Friday morning, Tiger Woods has pulled out of competing in the Chevron World Challenge which takes place here in SoCal this week. Furthermore, Tiger has also announced that he will NOT be competing in any tournaments for the rest of the year:

Tiger Woods will not play in the Chevron World Challenge golf tournament this week. The reason for Tiger’s no show — car crash injuries. On Tiger’s own website, he released a statement saying, “I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week … I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I’m very sorry that I can’t be there.” The site also says Tiger will not compete in any more events this year. The tourney says they are trying to find someone to take Tiger’s spot and that it would be one of the top 50 players in the world. As for refunds, the tourney’s site says tickets will be refunded at face value beginning next week.

Oh yeah, it really sounds like homie is hopin’ to hide out for as long as he can so that he won’t be forced to answer any questions about his incident. It remains to be seen how far the police are willing to go to find out if his accident grew out of a domestic altercation with his wife but it looks like Tiger Woods is going to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to ask anything of him.
