‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ Premieres In Hollywood

Michael Cera was joined by co-stars and celeb friends at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of his new film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Adapted from the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley, this new film tells the tale of a 23-year old Canadian slacker who falls in love with a girl and must battle her 7 evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. To be honest, I only had a passing awareness of the graphic novel series but I absolutely fell in love with the movie when I saw the first movie trailer earlier this year. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s movie premiere event:

I’ll be the first to admit that Michael Cera tends to bug the HELL out of me … but I was won over so entirely by the movie trailer that I am willing to overlook that fact and give the movie a chance. The film utilizes elements from comic books and video games to heighten the experience of the movie … it just looks really damn cool. I’ve since checked out some of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and I’ve determined I like them very much. The animation in the books is very simple but effective … I really like the cuteness of the books. I’m hoping the film will be as fun as the trailer makes it seem. After the jump, check out the video trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World to see what I’m talking about …

Another Con in the can
2010 San Diego Comic-Con Is Dunzo!

And so, another weekend at San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone and altho many of us were not in attendance at this year’s Con, I think it’s safe to say that we all benefited from the fun photos and valuable information that has been released at this year’s Con (most notably for me was the trailer for Dexter season 5). Annually I spend a bit of time thinking about making the trek down to San Diego to attend Comic-Con but annually, something comes up that keeps me from making it down. I have to say, tho, I do enjoy seeing the photos of fans that come from Comic-Con each year:

This is a fun batch of photos but I think props have to go to Booba Fett … I think she is my fave of this bunch of Comic-Con attendees. Tho, had I made my way to Comic-Con this year, I’d've dressed up in my amazing Dexter costume from Hallowe’en last year. I think I would’ve fit in nicely. Naturally, tho, the real draw at Comic-Con is being able to get up-close and personal with our fave celebs. After the jump, check out some photos of some of the celebs who made their way to Comic-Con to press the flesh with the rabid nerds and geeks …

BIG expectations
‘Hung’ Season 2 Premieres In Hollywood

Last month we got to check out the preview trailer for the upcoming second season of the HBO series Hung and last night, at the Paramount Theater on the Paramount Studios lot, stars of the show convened to officially premiere the second season. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals of the Hung season 2 premiere last night:

As I’ve mentioned before, I am a HUGE fan of Hung and I am really looking forward to a second season of the show. To be honest, I think my fave thing about the show is that it is set and FILMED in my beloved Detroit metropolitan area. To see parts of the city that I love so much featured on a fantastic show week after week is such a treat for me. But, that is not to take away from the show itself … the writing is fantastic and the characters are just amazing. I’ve never been a big Thomas Jane fan but he has won me over entirely with Hung. New eps of the series premiere this Sunday night. I cannot wait!!

“I’m [an] average guy ... I even have a right-down-the middle-exactly-average cock.”
Thomas Jane Does ‘Men’s Fitness’ Magazine

Thomas Jane, the sexy star of the HBO series Hung (one of my fave shows, set in my beloved Detroit, MI) is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Men’s Fitness magazine. In his coverstory interview, Jane talks about a great many things … including how “textbook average” he is … right down to his, well, you know what. Here is our first look at Thomas Jane on the cover of Men’s Fitness and some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

Although he plays the ultimate stud on HBO’s Hung, Thomas Jane is just an average guy. At least that’s what the 41-year-old heart throb tells Men’s Fitness. “I’m a textbook average guy,” says Jane, who graces the cover of the magazine’s current edition (June/July). “I’m 5’10”, I wear a model suit size — 40 regular, 32-inch waist pant — and a size 10 shoe. Everything about me is prototypical. Everything. I even have a right-down-the middle-exactly-average cock.” Well, at least he’s honest. Here are some more Jane nuggets from the June/July Issue of Men’s Fitness, as provided to the Keeping Fit blog by a PR rep for the magazine.

On how his training saved him from injuries: “I was cruising down the sidewalk and started fishtailing from side to side. I raced by this guy and went, ‘Woo-o-o-o-o.’ He turned and I started showing off — and the skateboard started to hydroplane and spin out. I flew off the board, tucked my shoulder, hit the ground, did a 360-degree flip, and landed on my feet. If it weren’t for my training, it could have been a hell of a lot worse.”

On training with former Dodgers outfielder Reggie Smith for his role as Mickey Mantle in the 2001 HBO film 61*: “Reggie had me eating tuna fish in the morning, lunch, evening, snack. Mickey [Mantle] was built like a bull. It wasn’t about definition. Mickey and those guys didn’t have six packs. They were farm boys, corn-fed, and they were big. That’s the kind of look I was going for.”

On his old eating habits: “On the day I would wrap a movie, my old ritual was to have a six-pack of Guinness and half a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts waiting in my trailer. That was my reward”

On how his trainer, Christine Hazelton, made the gym fun: “She turned [the gym] into a science — the mystery of how your body actually grows a muscle, the meditative aspect of lifting weights and working through the pain.”

On his humble beginnings: “Sometimes, I drive my Maserati by park benches that I’ve slept on. I feel a small sense of achievement.”

Ah … Tommy … he’s a hottie, no? I’ll admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of his before Hung debuted on HBO last year but he is really fantastic in that series and is really easy on the eyes … especially in the hot work-out photos featured in this issue of Men’s Fitness. After the jump, check out a couple photos from his photospread as well as a behind-the-scenes video of Thomas Jane on the set of his photoshoot …
