We are less than a week away from Valentine’s Day and that means that our fave TV shows are getting into the VD mood in order to capitalize on the big holiday. The principal cast of The Vampire Diaries is featured on the cover of this week’s VD-inspired issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine and as you can see below, they make for a HAWT coverphoto. Not since Buffy had to choose between her love for Angel and her love for Spike has there been a hot girl on vampires threesome like the one enjoyed by Elena (played by Nina Dobrev), Stefan (played by Paul Wesley) and Damon (played by Ian Somerhalder) on The Vampire Diaries. With just a little over a week away from the season 3 premiere of The Vampire Diaries, we get to check out today a batch of new promo images that — I’m guessing — are meant to entice viewers with their juiciness … instead, IMHO, these new promo images only make the show look silly in that Twilight way. I’m actually quite astounded that these promo images got approved for release but … well … check ‘em out below and see what YOU think.

The third season of The Vampire Diaries is about to debut on The CW and to celebrate (ie. promote), the principle cast — Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley — are featured in a fun new photospread for Rolling Stone magazine. The CW presented a sizzle reel at 2011 San Diego Comic-Con last weekend for the upcoming 3rd season of The Vampire Diaries that included footage from previous seasons as well as glimpses of the new season to come. Today we get to see that sizzle reel in full right here on the blog. You MUST watch the clip to the very end … trust me. Even when you think it’s over … it’s not over … and it is DEFFO worth your time. Check out the clip in full below.

In December 2008 we learned that the Tonner Doll Company was releasing a set of dolls based on the Twilight characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. In February 2010 we learned that Tonner was releasing a doll based on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse character Jacob Black. Today we learn that Tonner is readying the release of a new vampire-related doll, this time from the hit TV series The Vampire Diaries. Anyone out there interested in playing with Damon Salvatore?

Actors and on-screen brothers Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder made an in-store appearance at the Hot Topic at Sunset Place in Miami, FL yesterday as part of The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Mall Tour. Here are a few photos of Paul and Ian at yesterday’s event:

I understand the guys spent a lot of time meeting and greeting the fans who came out to see them. Other castmembers from The Vampire Diaries are touring elsewhere but it sounds like the place to be was in Miami yesterday to see the hot VD brothers ;)

Last week we got our first look at a very Katherine-centric promo trailer for the upcoming second season of the hit CW TV series The Vampire Diaries. Today we get our first look at a new batch of promo photos from the show along with some deets about what’s to come in the season 2 premiere ep:

The cast of “The Vampire Diaries” strike a pose either inside the Salvatore residence, in the Mystic Falls’ woods or in front of bare walls for the latest promo of the series. The popular CW drama will soon enter the second season where Katherine is back terrorizing the vampire brothers and Elena. The first episode of season 2 is aptly called “The Return”. Picking up on the same night as last season’s finale, Elena arrives home to a nightmare as she discovers Uncle John’s and Jeremy’s fate. At the hospital, Sheriff Forbes is comforted by Matt, Bonnie and Damon while she waits to hear if Caroline will survive the car accident. After a confusing conversation with Elena about the night’s events, Damon is the first to realize that Katherine has returned. Katherine’s arrival sends Stefan and Damon on a path to find out what she wants, why she’s back, and how much of a threat she is to the people they love. Meanwhile, still reeling from his father’s death, Tyler is surprised when his charming and mysterious uncle, Mason Lockwood (guest star Taylor Kinney), arrives to console the family.

OOOH juicy. I got so hooked on VD first season, I cannot wait for the action to pick up in season 2. But, we still have a couple weeks to wait before we can get back into the world in fictional Mystic Falls. Earlier this month we got to check out a promo video trailer for The Vampire Diaries season 2 but most of the footage in the trailer was from season 1. Today we get to see a proper video trailer for VD season 2 which features lots of footage from the new season … which looks like it’s gonna be very Katherine-centric:

The arrival of Katherine the vampire was teased for most of season 1 and, yet, I was still very shocked by the season finale ep where she actually did show up. I literally gasped out loud when she chopped off those fingers. In less than a month, The Vampire Diaries returns with all new eps and we will finally get to see the havoc Katherine will bring to the town of Mystic Falls. While Fox was bizzy partying and celebrating the coming Fall season of TV last night, The CW has been bizzy putting together new promo trailers for their upcoming season of new TV shows. Here is our first look at the new trailer for the new third season of 90210:

Granted, this clip is really short … and it doesn’t really feature anything new … but still, it’s a great reminder that new eps are on the way! We know that 90210 will be having one of its male characters come out of the closet and rumor has it that it’s gonna be Teddy so I can’t wait for the new eps to hit so we can finally get to some hot action on the show. Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, the principal stars of the CW TV series The Vampire Diaries, share the cover of the new issue of Nylon magazine this month. This ménage of actors will return to the TV airwaves in an all new ep of the series TONIGHT but right now we get to check out their hawt three-way chemistry in the pages of Nylon magazine beforehand:

Those well acquainted with Serena and Little J may find this fact hard to believe: Vampire Diaries, The CW’s budding show about bloodsuckers and the teen girls who love and / or get eaten by them, has double the number of Gossip Girl viewers. What makes it such a hit? It could be the current cultural zeitgeist of Edward, Bella, Sookie, Bill, and immortal drama. It could be the lingering teen appeal of star Nina Dobrev (remember her from Degrassi?). Or maybe it’s just damn fun and funny. Luke Crisell – who calls the show “like Dawson’s Creek with less talk and more action” – sat down with the cast of and asked them himself.

On the similarities between Twilight, True Blood, and Vampire Diaries:
“When the show first started… you automatically thought Twilight. But once you continue, there’s a whole other side of it that goes a lot deeper… It’s about letting everyone know that we’re different but we all respect each other.” — Nina Dobrev

Hey Ian, is there any similarity between LOST and Vampire Diaries?
“[My character] is gonna be the coolest character on television. There was no doubt about it. It reminded me of Sawyer, Josh Holloway’s character on LOST. He was always the character I secretly wished I could play.”

I didn’t think I was going to but I have really become a fan of this show. I started watching it just because it was new but I didn’t expect to get wrapped up in the storyline … at all. I’m not sure what it is, exactly, but I keep wanting to tune in to see what is going on in the shadowy town of Mystic Falls. I’m glad the show is returning from hiatus tonight because, as I understand it, things are about to get really interesting. But, I digress.
