Yesterday we got to see a bunch of really cool promo movie stills from the new biopic on The Runaways and last month we got to check out the first movie poster and video trailer. Today, we get to check out a brand new teaser poster for the film which will make it’s debut at the Sundance Film Festival this Sunday night and will open in theaters in March:

“The Runaways” makes its big Sundance debut this Sunday in Park City, and we have something that will keep your rocker hearts beating until then: an exclusive first look at the movie’s teaser poster. We know, we know: now that you’ve gotten to see plenty more stills and a clip from the Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning-headlined flick, a “teaser” isn’t exactly the sort of juice you’re looking for. But once you click the handy “read more” link below, we have a feeling, you’re going to think this art work is quite literally the bomb … In case you’re scratching your head in wonderment: the fruity explosive device is a nod to The Runaways’ famous hit song, “Cherry Bomb,” which we saw Kristen rock out to in the teaser trailer.

Not a bad poster for a teaser. Even tho the film will premiere at Sundance in a couple of days and in theaters in a couple of months, I’m glad they are just teasing this film little by little. I’d rather see a few small things leading up to the film’s release rather than a bunch of stuff that will give it all away before the movie is even available. I am really excited for The Runaways. I am really curious to read the reviews of the film once it screens at Sundance this weekend.

Last month we got our first look at the new biopic The Runaways which stars Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and today we get to see a few new promo pics from the film. The Runaways will be making its film festival debut at the Sundance Film Festival this month but these pics give us a peek at what’s to come:

The Runaways follows two friends, Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon), who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself-and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.

Apparition will open THE RUNAWAYS in over 1400 theaters on March 19. The music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Danielle Riley Keough, Scout Taylor-Compton (TV’s “Arrested Development”), and Michael Shannon. The film marks the first theatrical collaboration between Apparition and River Road Entertainment. Executive Produced by Joan Jett and Produced by River Road and Linson Entertainment, THE RUNAWAYS will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday, January 24.

Last Sunday we got our first look at the first movie poster from the upcoming biopic film based on the 70′s band The Runaways which, as you should know by now, stars Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curie. Today we get our FIRST LOOK at the first teaser movie trailer for The Runaways … here are a few screencaps:

Look, I realize this clip is under a minute long but I gotta say … I’m impressed. This trailer is meant to be just a tease but in the glimpses we see of the actresses playing the parts of The Runways, you can tell that they really look like the people they are playing in the film … particularly K. Over the summer we saw many photos of Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve and Alia Shawkat filming a biopic based on the 70s/80s girl band The Runaways and today we get our fist look at the first poster for the movie. The Runaways will make its worldwide debut at the Sundance Film Festival early next year … here is the poster:

Using red as the major color, the one-sheet does not give a look at any of the characters but shows legs of the band members and three guitars. Additionally, based on the image, it is known that the film still has no exact release date as it only mentions the movie will hit theaters in 2010. “The Runaways” is based on the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name, which were brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley. Being expected to be an easy sell with a novelty act of teenaged girls performing in leather and lace, the girls ended up proving to be serious and influential musicians with songs like “Cherry Bomb.” The band lasted about four years together, falling apart over management and money issues. The film itself will cover the formation of The Runaways through to Cherie Currie’s departure at the peak of their success. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning will be seen taking the roles of Joan Jett and Cherie respectively. Additionally, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve, and Alia Shawkat are also among the cast ensemble. Being listed as one of the movies in 2010 Sundance non-competition line-up, the film will be premiered during the festival which runs January 21-31, 2010.

It’s been a little while since we’ve seen any photos from the set of the new film The Runaways which stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and others as the real life 70′s rock group of the same name. There are a few new photos of K. Stew on set with her mentor (the woman she portrays in the film) Joan Jett and a garishly red leather jumpsuit … check ‘em out HERE:

Twilight cutie Kristen Stewart showed off her latest 70s rock getup on the set of her film The Runaways on Thursday in Norwalk, Ca. Wearing a red leather jumpsuit, Kristen, 19, consulted her rock mentor and real-life Runaway, Joan Jett, as the two relaxed on set. These two are looking more and more alike every day! But since Kristen is playing Joan in The Runaways, we guess that’s a good thing. The Runaways hits theaters next year.

The film should get high marks for authenticity, this red number that Kristen is wearing looks exactly like the red jumpsuit that Joan wore in concert and on the cover of their album The Runaways Live in Japan:

Oh man … the 70′s were fun. While I am really excited to see this biopic film when it gets released next year, I’m also lookin’ forward to seeing what other fashion atrocities are resurrected from the dead in the film. Woot! Can’t wait!!

Last week we saw photos of Kristen Stewart (portraying Joan Jett) and Dakota Fanning (portraying Cherie Currie) filming their first scenes for their new biopic movie The Runaways and today we get to see a few more photos from the SoCal movie set. Kristen (as Joan) gets unruly on top of a car while Dakota (as Cherie) rocks a pair of unruly platform high heel boots:

Those are some serious boots, Dakota! Damn. I gotta admit, tho, the more I see from this movie the more I want to see the final product. I’m a fan of quite a few songs by The Runaways, I’d really love to see how they got their start in the biz. Yesterday we saw photos of Kristen Stewart in full costume and make-up as Joan Jett on the SoCal set of the new movie The Runaways which just went into production. Today we get to see pics of Stewart‘s co-star Dakota Fanning in full costume and make-up as Runaways bandmember Cherie Currie on set (along with a couple newer photos of K. Stew as Joan Jett in a different costume) … behold:

Ah yes … I remember all the heavy and IMHO bad make-up that the ladies used to wear in the early 80′s. The look lingered for much of the decade and the young ladies who rocked this look in high school were referred to as burn outs. All I know is that there had better be at least one feather roach clip featured in the flick. To be honest, the look is all nostalgic and fabulous these days … I really am dying to see how this movie will turn out. Previously we saw these young actresses hanging with their real-live counterparts and now we’re seeing them in action. I realize filming *just* started but I really want to see more.

In previous weeks we’ve seen photos of Kristen Stewart rockin’ the 70′s punk mullet and we’ve seen her chillin’ with Joan Jett in preparation for her appearance in the upcoming new film The Runaways (based on the all-girl band of the 70′s/80′s) and today we get to see K. Stew in action as Jett on the SoCal set of the film. Here are the first pics of Kristen doing her best Joan Jett on the set of the movie that has just began filming:

HMMMMMM … I mean … yeah. Kristen deffo has the Joan Jett look down but … I don’t know that I’m feeling the hair in these pics. It looks different from the pics we’ve seen previously … her hair looks more like a wig in these pics, no? To be honest, I don’t really see Kristen as Joan Jett as much as I see her as Pinky Leather Tuscadero from Happy Days. Granted, you really cannot judge a film from just the pics we seen from the set … and The Runaways just went into production … so I’m gonna hold off on judgment. Minus the hair, I like the look tho … I kinda want to see more.
