Taylor Lautner gets in on the Fun, too!
Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson Pretend To Enjoy The 2011 People’s Choice Awards

Last night the 2011 People’s Choice Awards were handed out in an awards ceremony that was so chock full of product placement that I damn near puked on my fabulously stylish shoes. I did manage to keep the contents of my stomach in check long enough to note that Twilight stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were all seated in the front row … and BOY did they pretend to look like they were having fun!

'Eclipse' leads movie noms, 'Grey's Anatomy' leads tv noms
The 2011 People’s Choice Awards Nominations Have Been Announced

The nominations for the 2011 People’s Choice Awards were announced here in Hollywood, CA yesterday and it looks like the competitors will be going head to head to head to walk away with trophies early next year. The People’s Choice Awards honors categories in Film, Television and Music and are voted on exclusively by fans. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse ended up nabbing the most noms in the film department while Grey’s Anatomy nabbed the most noms in the television department. The music field wasn’t dominated by one singular artist and it looks like it will provide the most competition. Here are some deets from yesterday’s nomination announcement:

“The Twilight Saga” has a chance to eclipse the competition at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards. Nominations were announced Tuesday, and the vampire love story and its stars racked up a leading eight bids. The film is up for favorite movie and favorite drama, and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are nominated for favorite on-screen team. Pattinson and Lautner are also nominated individually for favorite movie actor, Stewart is up for favorite movie actress, and she and Pattinson are also nominated for favorite movie star under 25. Other multiple nominees in the movie category include Robert Downey Jr., who’s up for favorite actor, favorite action star and favorite on-screen team with Don Cheadle; “Iron Man 2,” nominated for favorite movie and action movie; and “Inception,” in the running for favorite movie, favorite drama and favorite on-screen team for stars Leonardo diCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy and Dileep Rao. Favorite TV drama nominee “Grey’s Anatomy” led the television category, with individual acting nods for stars Patrick Dempsey and Sandra Oh. Dempsey, Oh and co-star Ellem Pompeo were also nominated for favorite TV doctor. In the music category, Eminem, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Beyonce, P!nk, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga were all multiple nominees. Fans can vote for the winners online until Dec. 7. The People’s Choice Awards will be presented Jan. 5, 2011, at the Nokia Theatre and broadcast on CBS.

The 36th Annual
The 2010 People’s Choice Awards Are Handed Out

Celebrities of varying stature made their way out to the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in downtown LA last night to attend the People’s Choice Awards which were handed out in a lavish, televised ceremony. As you may know, the PCAs are voted on by the public so the winners are chosen by the fans … which makes this awards show unique among the many others. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals (where newly engaged country singer Carrie Underwood was happy to show off her new bling — again) along with some deets about who won awards last night … I understand it was a good night for vampires:

The people have chosen vampires. “The Twilight Saga,” “True Blood” and “The Vampire Diaries” all sucked up trophies Wednesday at the 36th annual People’s Choice Awards. “Twilight” won four trophies, including favorite movie, franchise and on-screen team for the dreamy trio of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, who also picked up the breakout male actor award. The undead HBO fable “True Blood” and the soapy supernatural CW series “The Vampire Diaries” were respectively selected as favorite TV obsession and favorite new TV drama. Other winners in categories spanning movies, TV and music included “Inglourious Basterds” as favorite independent movie and Lady Gaga as favorite pop and breakout music artist. Queen Latifah, who returned as host of the fan-favorite ceremony for the fourth consecutive year, kicked off the show at the Nokia Theatre with a jazzy name-dropping number. Stars such as Hugh Jackman, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift and Ellen DeGeneres were on hand to accept their awards selected by Internet votes. “One for each of Sandra Bullock’s toes,” joked 11-time People’s Choice Awards champion DeGeneres. Other TV winners included “American Idol” as favorite competition show, “Glee” as favorite new TV comedy, Steve Carell as favorite TV comedy actor, Alyson Hannigan as favorite TV comedy actress, “The Big Bang Theory” as favorite TV comedy, “House” as favorite TV drama, Hugh Laurie as favorite TV drama actor and “Supernatural” as favorite fantasy TV show. Winners in the movie categories included Bullock as favorite movie actress, Jackman as favorite action star, “The Proposal” as favorite comedy movie and “Up” for favorite family movie. Sacha Baron Cohen, appearing as himself and not as his alter-egos Borat or Bruno, presented Johnny Depp with a special award as favorite movie actor of the decade. “The only reason that any of us are up here is because of you,” Depp told the audience. Throughout the show, Latifah appeared in spoofs of “Twilight” and “Paranormal Activity,” which featured a cameo by Cloris Leachman clad in a sexy leather ensemble. The show also featured performances by Mary J. Blige, Cobra Starship and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as debut footage from “Clash of the Titans,” “Robin Hood” and “Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains.”

It sounds like it was a fun show, unfortch I wasn’t home to watch. But you had to know that if the public was gonna be voting on the awards then the hot vampire trend going on in Hollywood these days was gonna be well-rewarded. I was very pleased with many of last night’s winners. After the jump, check out some photos from the press room of some of my fave folks who took home the pretty glass trophies …

'The Dark Knight' cleans up as fans pick their entertainment faves
The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Are Handed Out

For the 35th year, the People’s Choice Awards were handed out to honor various entertainment outlets and actors as chosen by the people themselves. Last night’s award show was held at the Shrine Auditorium here in LA and brought out a cavalcade of celebs to collect their awards. The big winner of the night was The Dark Knight, which took home 5 People’s Choice Awards … but it turned out to be a big night for a few other folks as well. Here are some photos from the show and the press room and a run-down on who won what at last night’s affair:

Batman movie “The Dark Knight” soared away with five People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday including favorite movie and on-screen pairing for stars Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger to kick off Hollywood’s annual awards season. Country singer Carrie Underwood, who rose to fame on television talent show “American Idol,” was another big winner, hauling in three People’s Choice Awards for favorite female singer, country song “Last Name,” and star under 35 years-old. “Fans and people voting for me are what gave me a career in the first place,” Underwood said, acknowledging the voting by music lovers. “This is an amazing night.” The People’s Choice Awards, in its 35th edition this year, are a widely watched measure of popular appeal for Hollywood stars and they mark a starting point for the industry’s annual awards season which runs through the Oscars, the world’s top film awards, that take place in February. Adam Sandler was named funniest male star, Reese Witherspoon favorite female movie star, and Kate Hudson top leading lady among winners in more than 40 categories covering film, television, music and even online entertainment.

Sandler, Witherspoon and Hudson all echoed a familiar theme of the night by saying People’s Choice honors were special because they were voted on by fans, as opposed to critics or members of industry groups. The ceremony also has a more casual atmosphere compared to TV’s Emmy’s or the film industry’s Oscars, where black ties and ball gowns are mandatory. Noting that difference, Katherine Heigl, who accepted the trophy for best comedy movie for her “27 Dresses,” told reporters backstage that she wore a pants suit because “it was after the holidays, so I didn’t want to wear anything strapless or anything I had to suck in my stomach for.” Among film honors, “Dark Knight,” which was 2008′s top film at box offices with global ticket sales of nearly $1 billion, also proved to be the No. 1 movie of the night. Along with best film and on-screen match-up, it hauled in awards for favorite action movie, superhero for Bale as Batman, and for its cast. “The Secret Life of Bees” was the winner of best film drama and favorite independent film, and animated “Wall-E” was the No. 1 family film for People’s Choice voters. In the TV arena, medical show “House” was named favorite TV drama, and “Two and a Half Men” was best TV comedy. “The Mentalist” was top new TV drama while “Gary Unmarried” was the No. 1 new TV comedy. “House” star Hugh Laurie took home the trophy for favorite male TV star, and Christina Applegate took the honor of top female TV star for “Samantha Who?” Applegate, who revealed earlier this year that she underwent surgery for breast cancer, said the award meant a lot to her after a difficult year.” “I feel great. I really do,” she told reporters backstage. “Each week gets easier and each week gets better.” Ellen DeGeneres was named best TV talk show host and “Dancing With the Stars” was the people’s pick for No. 1 competition or reality TV show. Along with Underwood, top winners in music included Kid Rock for favorite rock song “All Summer Long,” Rascal Flatts for favorite group, Chris Brown best male singer and Katy Perry with best pop tune “I Kissed a Girl.”

I love the People’s Choice Awards primarily because the winners are determined by the people … which is unlike any other major award show. I had tickets to attend last night’s show but couldn’t make it because of a last minute meeting I had to attend late yesterday afternoon. As much as it bums me out that I couldn’t attend, I’m very happy with the way other things are going in my personal life right now … but I’m digressing. Much congrats to the winners of the PCAs this year. Let’s see if The Dark Knight is able to secure any other nominations and awards as the Awards Season carries on.
