The King of Pop is surely spinning in his grave
Michael Jackson’s Children Will Reportedly Appear In The Jackson Family Reality Series

US Weekly magazine is reporting today that sources close to the new A&E reality TV series The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty reveal that the series WILL feature the late Michael Jackson‘s childrenPrince Michael, Paris Michael and Prince Michael, II aka Blanket — on the TV show. It seems quite clear that this decision to put the children on television is in direct opposition to the wishes of MJ himself … it was widely known that he was fiercely protective of his children and would NEVER have wanted them exploited on TV. But, according to this new report, the kids will be featured on the Jackson family reality series nonetheless:

The Jacksons are at odds over the inclusion of Michael Jackson’s three children in an upcoming A&E reality show about the famous family, Us Weekly reports in its latest issue (on newsstands now). A source tells Us Weekly the buzzed-about program will include Michael’s kids — Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, 7 — though not everyone’s happy about it. Eldest sister Rebbie, 59, who has refused to be in the series (called The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, tentatively set to air in December), “feels Michael would spin in his grave if he knew his kids would be on this show.” While Janet, 43, is on board, mom Katherine “is just going along with things,” the source continues. Still, one of the creators of the program — which will be either five one-hour episodes or 10 half-hour episodes — says the family shines on the series. “We have 23 cast members with the last name Jackson,” executive producer Jodi Gomes tells Us Weekly. “They’ve done a great job opening up about losing a brother.” (A Jackson family rep couldn’t be reached.)

The only part of this story that makes me believe it is not true is the bit about Janet Jackson being “on board” with featuring the children on the TV show. I refuse to believe that she would agree with the decision to exploit the children in this way. But, truth be told, I can absolutely believe that the rest of the family (Rebbie Jackson excluded) are more than happy to exploit the children in this way … if those kids are on the show, the ratings will be much higher — guaranteed. I, personally, am seriously disgusted by more decisions made by the Jackson family … but this takes the cake. If this report turns out to be true and they do decide to use these children to promote their reality TV series then I suggest they change the titled of the show from The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty to The Jacksons: A Nasty Family. They get a HUGE poop sandwich from me!! :(

UPDATE: TMZ is reporting that Katherine Jackson, the guardian of MJ‘s children, insists that the kids will NOT be featured in The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty:

Katherine tells TMZ Michael would never want his kids to appear on TV, much less on a reality show. She says her son went to great lengths to protect the kids from TV cameras, often shielding them with masks. There are reports A&E’s Jackson reality show will include MJ’s 3 kids. Katherine, who is the legal guardian of the kids and ultimately makes the decision, tells us it will NOT happen.

I really hope this is true … I would never put anything past the Jacksons. I’ll believe it when I DON’T see them on the show.

Behold: 'The Jackson Dynasty'
3 Jackson Brothers Try To Hang On To Their Fame

Three of the Jackson brothers, Jackie, Marlon and Tito, were spotted filming scenes for their new reality TV series The Jackson Dynasty (which was previously titled The Jackson Family) in Calabasas, CA yesterday … and they seemed THRILLED that they managed to gain the attention of the paparazzi:

I just can’t help but feel that Jackson reality TV show is being built on the death of Michael Jackson. Even tho the show was in production way before his death, I am almost positive that they are going to so everything they can to use MJ‘s death to their advantage. I suppose we can’t fault them for trying to hold on to what little fame they have left but it just seems so … gross, especially in light of their younger (and much more famous) brother’s death. Blech.

Michael Jackson's death no longer a hindrance
A&E Plans To Move Forward With ‘The Jackson Family’ Reality Show

The A&E network teamed up with members of the Jackson family earlier this year to produce a reality TV series which would focus on their work on a new album and plans for a Jackson 5 reunion concert. The entire series was filmed while Michael Jackson was still alive and plans were originally to premiere the show this Summer. In the wake of MJ‘s sudden death in June, A&E shelved the project and put it on hiatus … but no longer. Apparently, enough time has passed since MJ‘s death that A&E and the Jacksons have decided that the series titled The Jackson Family will air “soon” and will include eps of the brothers coping with the death of Michael Jackson:

A&E plans to air a Jackson family reality series that will show the late King of Pop’s brothers grappling with his sudden death. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday that Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon had previously filmed an hour-long pilot before Michael’s death, and planned to include a climactic reunion with The Gloved One. But their younger brother never signed on to do it, and passed before they could change his mind. Insiders say that A&E is moving forward with more episodes that show the Jacksons coping with Michael’s death and handling the day-to-day struggles in their own lives. A deal for the series hasn’t been fully ironed out, but the original agreement was for a pilot with provisions for a series, so the show will go on. The one-hour pilot will air on A&E within the month, likely with a reference at the end that Michael passed away, followed by segments that will be shaped into either 30 or 60-minute episodes. Danny O’Donovan, who has managed the Jacksons since they left Motown in the late 70s, brokered the TV deal.

While I cannot fault the Jacksons for wanting to air the eps of this show that they have already filmed, after an appropriate time has passed since their brother’s death, I cannot help but feel like the “bonus” eps that feature the family coping with his death is just a wee bit if not OUTRAGEOUSLY exploitative of MJ‘s death. While I’m sure they are having a tough time dealing with the loss of their brother, it seems to me to be a more prudent course of action to focus on their professional lives rather than to interject the death of MJ. The fact that they are Jacksons will still bring in the ratings so they don’t need eps filled with heartbreak and tears just to get people to watch … I just think they should not further exploit MJ‘s death for their own gain. I dunno … what do y’all think?
