The take-over has begun!!
Kristin Cavallari Films First Starring Scenes Of ‘The Hills’

Lauren LC Conrad‘s final ep of The Hills hasn’t even aired yet and already MTV has started production on the next season of the show, the first without LC as the star protagonist. You may recall that Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County alum Kristin Cavallari has been tapped to take over LC‘s starring position on the show and it looks like they’re already putting the new “It” girl to work. Here are a few pics from the SoCal set of The Hills yesterday evening:

Wooot!!! It is no secret that I am BIG Kristin Cavallari fan from waaaaaay back in the day. I have grown so disillusioned with The Hills in the past couple of seasons but am THRILLED that KC is taking over. I will watch every single ep. I just love that girl!! As I understand it, KC and the cast (which included Brody Jenner, Jayde Nicole, Lauren Lo Bosworth, Stephanie Pratt and Stacey the bartender that “almost broke up Speidi“) got together at a Mexican restaurant for Frankie‘s birthday (Kristin brought him a bottle of Patron tequila as her gift). The season finale ep of The Hills (LC‘s last) airs this Sunday night on MTV … that’s when KC will officially be introduced on the show. When she arrives at the Speidi wedding, the party gets under way:

I can’t wait!!!!!! With KC starring, I say Long Live The Hills!!! LC may be dunzo but Kristin‘s time to shine is just about to begin :)

Will become the new HBIC on the show
It’s Official! Kristin Cavallari Is Joining The Cast Of ‘The Hills’

Yesterday we saw photos of Kristin Cavallari doing a bit of shopping in Beverly Hills, CA this week and I surmised that perhaps she was shopping for new outfits to wear on upcoming episodes of MTV‘s hit show The Hills. While there was talk that she was joining the cast, there had yet been no official confirmation from anyone in the know that it was a done deal. Today, Entertainment Weekly magazine reports on a new interview with KC herself that confirms officially that SHE IS TAKING OVER The Hills and will be starring on the next season of the show:

Rumors have been circulating for weeks that former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari was in talks to replace Lauren Conrad on The Hills. Now, EW can exclusively confirm that Cavallari will indeed be starring in MTV’s reality series. The 22-year old’s first appearance will be the May 31st season finale (she catches the bouquet at Heidi and Spencer’s wedding, natch) and she’ll appear in 10 episodes this fall. Cavallari, now a budding actress, is fully prepared to stir things up. “It’s a TV show,” she explains. “I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! And drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in, because I know what works.” Cavallari had plenty more to reveal in her exclusive interview with EW.

On why she’s coming back to reality TV:
“The goal for me is to get my fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn’t have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help.”

On rumors that producers are plotting a romance between her and Justin Bobby (which The Hills producers deny):
“I have no idea! [laughs] I don’t think MTV would be like, ‘Oh you’re dating him now. This is your boyfriend.’ But they might try and set up situations. I’m totally cool with that. Again, it’s a TV show and they need to make it entertaining.”

On how her version of The Hills will differ from Lauren’s:
“I’m a completely different person than Lauren. I have a lot more energy. I’m more outgoing. I’m a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she’s not dating on the show. I’m very open to dating and finding a guy.”

On introducing Heidi and Spencer:
“It’s so funny. I guess it was 4 years ago. I was dating Brody [Jenner] and Spencer was Brody’s best friend. I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach. Heidi was like, ‘Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.’ And Brody and I were kinda like, ‘Well, maybe Spencer?’ We’ll see what happens.’ So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they’re married.”

Woot!! This is the best news to happen to the show since, well, ever! As you may recall, I ran into Miss Cavallari at the Star Trek premiere a couple of weeks ago and while she couldn’t actually confirm her involvement on the show just yet, I was certain that she was taking over. I am soooo geeked. The show has lacked any and all excitement for months now, this new breath of life will deffo keep the party going. I, for one, cannot wait for the show to return with new eps. This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly features this interview with Kristin in full and offers new insight from MTV producers on how they plan to “put a new spin” on The Hills. With Kristin Cavallari in the star position (opposite her ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner, the new Mrs. Pratt, etc.) there should be a lot of fireworks to behold. I CAN’T WAIT! Welcome back, Kristin … we’ve so missed you!! It won’t be long before everyone will be wondering LC who?

Everyone but LC will return for season 6
‘The Hills’ Will Return Sans Lauren Conrad

MTV has just announced that The Hills will return for a sixth season but will do so WITHOUT protagonist star Lauren LC Conrad. LC has announced that she is finished with the show and is ready to move on to other projects but, clearly, the rest of the cast and MTV do not feel the same. Newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will likely be the new focus for the show as the rest of the cast (along with “fresh faces”) will supplement the show:

It’s official: The Hills is returning this fall without star Lauren Conrad, MTV announced today. Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, Lo Bosworth, Justin Bobby and “fresh faces,” will be back, the network teases in a statement. “Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work,” adds MTV. “Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before.” Earlier this month, Montag — who wed on Saturday — told MTV News she’d “miss” Conrad — but not too much. “I just don’t know if we need her,” she said. “I know she hasn’t been wanting to be doing this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it’s a closing chapter for her. I’m sure she’ll have fun and success.” When asked if The Hills could survive without Conrad, Patridge told Us: “Yes, we’re like family to our audience.” Conrad — who is designing a new line for Kohl’s — told Us in March that the decision to leave was “bittersweet. “I’ve spent the last five years making every decision be about the show,” she added.

I think pretty much everyone saw this coming. The Hills has been performing pretty well lately so it makes sense that the show would carry on … even without LC at the helm, I think we can pretty much expect more of the same in the coming season. Truth be told, my love for the show has cooled in recent months so I’m not really chomping at the bit for new eps. My first thought was that Speidi would be getting their own show but it seems smarter to just make them the central focus of an already successful series. What do y’all think … will The Hills be the same without LC? Would you be interested in watching Speidi take center stage in the coming season?

Behold, Mr. & Mrs. Spencer Pratt
Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Got Hitched, Again, For Real

Welp … they finally did it. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were finally legally wed in a lavish ceremony in Pasdena, CA yesterday afternoon after a couple of mis-starts for the couple (who, as you may recall, attempted to get married previously but never followed thru legally). Taped for the season (series?) finale of The Hills, Speidi said I Do in front of a select group of family and friends at the Westminster Presbyterian Church:

Heidi Montag is officially Mrs. Spencer Pratt. The Hills stars got married in an early evening ceremony at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday, PEOPLE has confirmed. Montag, 22, and Pratt, 25, exchanged vows before about 200 guests, including Audrina Patridge, Kristin Cavallari, Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado. The bride wore jewels from Neil Lane, including a pear-shaped diamond floral necklace with multiple diamond chains layered over it, diamond earrings and diamond hairpins, which she picked out the day before the nuptials. Pratt borrowed a pair of diamond cufflinks from the jeweler for the big day.

Early Saturday, the couple arrived at the church in a white Rolls Royce Phantom. Before the ceremony, an airplane flew overhead and wrote “Spencer loves Heidi” in the sky. Pratt, looking dapper in a black suit, smiled and signed autographs for fans outside the church. Meanwhile, Montag posted multiple updates on Twitter throughout the day. “This is going to be the best day of my life,” she wrote at one point. “Thank you God for Spencer.” She also described her wedding dress as “amazing – like a swan princess.”

After making multiple statements that she would not be attending the wedding, Lauren LC Conrad ended up attending the nuptials after all … opting to make a small cameo (most likely for the cameras) before making a hasty exit before the ceremony was over. After the jump, read some more deets from the Speidi wedding, check out a couple pics of LC making her exit from the church and find out which of Heidi‘s single lady friends ended up catching her bouquet (PLUS see which bartender lady also attended the Speidi nuptials) …

LC reveals the source of the erroneous sex tape rumor
‘The Hills’ Do The Paley Fest

Lauren LC Conrad and her Hills cohorts Lauren Lo Bosworth, Audrina Patridge and break-out spin-off star Whitney Port (of The City) were all on hand at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood, CA last night to participate in the PaleyFest ’09 event for The Paley Center for Media. Sadly, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were not in attendance even tho they were scheduled to appear. It is being reported that Speidi pulled out at the last minute to tend to their upcoming wedding plans. Interestingly enough, LC confirmed at the PaleyFest panel that Spencer admits that he is responsible for spreading the false rumor about her alleged sex tape with ex-boyfriend Jason Whaler … mebbe that revelation also had something to do with Speidi‘s absence? In any event, here are a few photos of the Hills girls on the red carpet last night and some deets about the event itself:

Attending The Hills panel at PaleyFest without being a regular viewer of The Hills is like going to a Friday night party at some condo off Sunset where everybody knows each other and nobody knows you. So you stand there amid an attractive crowd and nod and smile and pretend like you get their jokes. Helpfully, before the panel the producers screen a 20-minute compilation of clips from The Hills that summarizes the first five seasons of the hit MTV docu-soap. The clips are either perfectly edited, or the series has incredible amounts of filler because when the lights come up you feel like you just sat through every single episode and understand everything that’s happened: A blonde girl named Lauren moved to Hollywood and fell in love with another blonde girl named Heidi. They broke up when Heidi fell in love with a blond guy named Spencer. Each season the girls wore more obvious makeup and Lauren cries a lot. Oh, and at one point Lauren went to France. But when the cast comes onstage there’s a glaring omission. Heidi, who was billed to be onstage with Lauren, is not here. This is a considerable letdown, even for those of us who just started watching The Hills roughly 20 minutes ago. We’re told she’s planning for a “big event” this weekend, which is rumored to be her wedding to Spencer. Needless to say, The Hills cameras will be there, and three cast members say they are invited, none of which are Lauren. The biggest news bits from the Q&A:

– On the infamous sex tape rumor, Lauren says – spoiler alert — Spencer finally confesses to the crime in a future episode. “We actually have it on tape,” she said. “He takes responsibility and apologizes for it.”

– Lauren originally thought when switching from Laguna Beach to The Hills: “This will be a whole new group of friends I wouldn’t fight with,” which seems to not quite understand the type of show she’s on.

– Producer Liz Gateley, when asked about whether the cast is shallow, reveals, “These folks do talk about a lot of intelligent things — like global warming — we just don’t show that on the show.” The idea that Lauren and Audrina have been secretly having off-camera debates about carbon emissions is fascinating.

– Lauren said she and Heidi can now “be in the same room.” The Rolling Stone photo shoot last year was “a big deal” in terms of mending their relationship despite the girls having dividers between them while getting their hair and makeup done.

– Producers were asked if the show will continue beyond the fifth season and gave the usual “we’re in talks … seeing if there are more stories to tell,” etc., etc., answer.

HMMM … I don’t think there was anyone who seriously doubted that it was Spencer who came up with the sex tape rumor, I mean … c’mon. The fact that he finally admits it on camera should come as no shock to anyone. Since this is the “last” season of The Hills, they have to pull out all the stops … the sex tape thing is one big loose end that was never tied up and the Speidi wedding is another. It really sounds like LC is done with the show … which means that any attempts to keep it going without her are going to be really bad, I think. Laguna Beach didn’t really fare so well once she left the show … and when they moved the drama to Newport Beach (introducing a new cast of characters) the whole thing went into the toilet. If MTV is smart, they’ll just let the show end on a relative high note.

But that doesn’t mean they may not try to launch a new show around Heidi and Spencer. It remains to be seen if those two can carry a show all by themselves but, I’m telling you, they’re gonna try. First, tho, they’ve got a little wedding to get thru … let’s see if they can pull that off before they think about launching their own TV show. Do you think they’ll be able to carry a show on their own? Would you tune in?

The TV Guide
Over ‘The Hills’

So, my day yesterday pretty much consisted of laundry and TV … in that order. Because I am a huge procrastinator I tend to group my chores into lumps that get taken care of on particular days. Sunday was all about the dishes and kitchen, yesterday was about the laundry. Today will be about putting things away and packing for this weekend’s trip … but that will come in due course. I managed to get all of my laundry done yesterday which meant that I had a free night to sit in front of the TV. I am very pleased that HBO‘s amazing series In Treatment has returned with their second season.

While the first season eps aired in 30-minute eps 5-days a week, this season all 5 weekly eps air over two days — 2 on Sunday, 3 on Monday. BUT, HBO reairs the Sunday eps before the Monday eps so I can now look forward to 5 eps of In Treatment every Monday evening. Yesterday’s batch of eps were so good. The writing on that show is superb, you must watch. Dianne Wiest is the BEST thing about the series, I live for her eps.

I also enjoyed the new ep of 24 and kinda enjoyed The Hills. I’m sorry, that show has gotten so far from reality that I have a hard time watching it with any seriousness anymore. I mean … it’s basically turned into this:

Kinda funny and wholly ridiculous. That being said, I did Twitter the hell out of last night’s ep … so that was fun but, alas, I’m kinda really over The Hills. I’ll still watch (and will prolly live Twitter) future eps but … meh. If I want to watch scripted TV, I’ll go for the shows that have the best writing (see In Treatment above).

Other than that … ’twas a quiet night. I curled up in bed with my Kindle 2 for some reading to close out the night. I’m trying to make the most of my alonetime this week but I’m missing David. I can’t wait to see him on Thursday.

I might be more social tonight, I have a hankering for some popcorn … HMMMM.

Filming for the next season is well underway
‘The Hills’ Gang Bring The Drama To Hawaii

The next season of The Hills is currently in production as the entire gang from the show were spied in Hawaii this week with MTV cameras in tow. Here is a group shot of the Hills folks sauntering nonchalantly on the beach in full view of any and everyone who cared to take notice yesterday afternoon:

While Lauren Conrad and Lo Boswoth may have vacated their Hollywood Hills pad, it seems they’ve traded up for the island paradise of Turtle Bay. Celebuzz spies in Oahu, Hawaii caught Lauren, Lo, Audrina Patridge and Stephanie Pratt vacationing this weekend at Turtle Bay resort, soaking up sun and cocktails—all on camera. While MTV was unreachable for comment, it seems Season 5 of the reality hit is upon us! “They were all together, sipping Chi-Chi’s [pina colada's with vodka],” the source says, “Lo picked up the tab for drinks and then all four girls laid in the sand.” Elsewhere at the resort, where Jason Segal and Mila Kunis filmed Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado enjoyed bro time while production was manned from two large trucks of equipment. And what can we expect from the island get away, by the time it makes its edited way to our hot little hands? Boy talk! “Lauren and Lo were talking about two guys they met at [Los Angeles club] Apple,” said the spy. The loves and lives of the SoCal girls now contend with expat Whitney Port, and her NYC show The City.

Meh. I gotta admit … the obvious unreality of this reality TV show is really unappealing. I mean, I get that it was always fake to an extent but the stagedness of the series has gotten so out of hand … there isn’t even a single ounce of believability anymore. Mebbe it’s just me but I really preferred the show when MTV at least tried to make the drama seem real … mostly by being more clandestine about how the show gets filmed. They’re not even trying to hide the fact that the show is mostly pre-contrived drivel. I dunno … it’s just not as fun anymore. I also question whether the Hills folks themselves are having any fun any more. After the jump, check out a few photos of the mainstays trying to enjoy the sun and surf in Hawaii …

‘The Hills’: Dunzo!

So … last night was the Season 4 finale of The Hills which, because of the revelation of the fakeness of the Speidi wedding, turned out to be much ado about nothing. The big hype surrounding the ep was supposed to be centered around the official legalization of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt‘s marriage but since that didn’t happen, well … there ain’t much else to tell:

Since it has already been revealed that Speidi are not married, there really aren’t any spoilers left to disclose. Instead, here are a few pics from The Hills Finale party that took place in NYC last night in celebration of last night’s ep:

Other than the wedding that never took place, there was some bit of drama in last night’s ep. Lauren LC Conrad and Heidi Montag finally came face-to-face and shared a moment together. In light of all the staged bullshizz thruout the season, tho, I couldn’t buy one second of it. LC and Heidi are kinda cool with one another then they’re not … who the eff knows. At this point, the whole show is SO contrived that I don’t even want to be bothered any more … sad but true :( Trust me, it pains me to even admit this … I really love the show. The nonsense between Audrina Patridge and Justin Bobby and that pitiful ring … seriously, kill me now. I can’t even take any more. I did like, however, how Spencer paused right before he was to say his vows and give a speech about how he can’t go thru with the wedding. That shit was funny … I had to rewind so I could laugh again. Speidi really are masters of their own destiny … they do things their way and are shameless about it. On that account, they should be commended. I just fear that the shtick has long gotten old and they won’t be able to peddle their wares for much longer.

But anyways … here are a few pics of The Hills folk on the red carpet last night:

The End. At this point, I’m pretty sure I won’t be reacapping Season 5 when it debuts next year. I’m just over it. That MTV won’t even try and make the show believable at all is really insulting … I don’t know that I can take it anymore. I’ll deffo be watching The City … and I’ll prolly still watch The Hills but … it just doesn’t seem like a fun show anymore. I guess we’ll see what happens the new season airs … but at this point, I’m ready to say Peace the Spork Out! It’s kinda like what LC said about Heidi, I only know how to love the show and I only know how to hate the show. It was fun while it lasted.

At least, not according to official US court documents
Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt ARE NOT Legally Married

This past Monday night on MTV‘s hit reality TV series The Hills, we got to see what is being alleged as the wedding of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt … well, actually … we only got to see the recreated events leading up to the supposed nuptials as well as the “morning after” events — we never actually were allowed to witness the wedding ceremony itself. In the teaser preview video for next week’s season finale episode, we were shown quick scenes of Heidi, Spencer and his sister Stephanie Pratt walking into an LA courthouse, standing before a judge and a tiny portion of their wedding vows — scenes that are to have us believe that the couple officially and legally married here in the US. BUT, a new report out today by MSN questions the validity of these nuptials reporting that no public marriage license has ever been filed or submitted for these two, that the courthouse shown in the preview video was rented out by MTV afterhours … and that the judge shown in the clip isn’t even a real judge at all:

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag don’t appear to be any closer to getting legally hitched. A brief tease for the fourth season finale of MTV’s “The Hills” that aired Monday seemed to indicate that the reality TV couple have made their unofficial Mexican wedding ceremony a legitimate marriage in California. The pair were shown walking into a courtroom with Pratt’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, while a judge smiled down on them from the bench. “I, Heidi, take thee, Spencer,” Montag coos in the preview. Despite all the official trappings, the tease of legitimate nuptials for the pair may be just that. A Los Angeles Superior Court official said Tuesday that MTV was recently granted permission to shoot in a courtroom in Beverly Hills, but it was done after hours — and that’s not one of their judges sitting on the bench in “The Hills” footage. MTV was granted permission to film “what purported to be a wedding outside of court hours” at the Beverly Hills courthouse, court spokesman Allan Parachini said Tuesday. He did not know who the participants were in the wedding, but Parachini said court officials wanted the filming to be treated as a news event. The preview for next week’s season finale features a wood-paneled courtroom with the California state seal perched on the wall behind a judge. Civil ceremonies are sometimes performed at the Beverly Hills courthouse, but not in the manner portrayed in the brief preview. If a judge does preside, it is typically in chambers during a break, Parachini said. Pratt, 25, and Montag, 22, acknowledged that their Nov. 19 marriage ceremony near Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was entirely symbolic, despite appearing on the Nov. 26 cover of Us Weekly with the headline “Heidi & Spencer Elope!” Monday’s episode of “The Hills” depicted the pair spontaneously agreeing to exchange vows after downing several shots of tequila. “In my mind, it’s as legal as the ring on my finger,” Pratt told Us Weekly. A check of marriage records last week did not reveal any filings by Pratt or Montag in Los Angeles County, although the couple could get married in any county in California as well as opt for a confidential license. Officials at two courthouses in neighboring Orange County said they have not received requests from MTV to film in their facilities. The couple and MTV did not immediately return messages seeking comment Tuesday.

OMG … this is really turning out to be the biggest Hollywood sham to come along since the alleged pregnancy of Katie Holmes! Nothing about this supposed Speidi wedding appears to have any semblance of truth to it. It makes no sense that the couple would choose to be wed in any county other than LA county (especially since they filmed their “wedding” in an LA courthouse) nor does it make any sort of sense that the couple would opt for a confidential license — there is NO REASON for them to hide the legal paperwork for their wedding at all. The only logical conclusion is that those legal papers do not exist. It doesn’t help their case that Spencer was quoted as saying, “In my mind, [our marriage] is as legal as the ring on my finger” because A.) how can a ring be legal, B.) the ring in question is a piece of leather (reportedly purchased in a souvenir gift shop) wrapped around his finger and C.) “in my mind” implies that there is NO legal bearing of his statement. Again, all of this staged, seemingly completely fabricated nonsense continues to anger me as a fan of the show. That MTV would go so far as to FAKE a wedding and broadcast it as a real event is totally insulting. The “reality” portion of this show has been dwindling to minuscule proportions for the past couple of years now … this latest sham looks to be the final straw in destroying any smidgen of credibility the show used to have. Thoughts?

ATTENTION: 'THE HILLS' SPOILER ALERT WARNING
‘The Hills’: Here Comes The Speidi, All Dressed In White Lies

Sooooo … last night’s episode of The Hills featured heavily in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and showed us “exactly” how the surprise wedding betwixt Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt went down … which is very shocking considering the fact that the couple were wed unbeknown to MTV who were only made aware of the nuptials after the news broke on the cover of US Weekly magazine. Even still, MTV managed to conjure up footage of Speidi‘s arrival in Mexico, the proposal and the “morning after” the wedding (presumably, US Weekly owns the rights to the actual footage of the wedding itself). Additionally, Whitney Port finds out the outcome of her interview with the Diane Von Furstenberg Fashion House and makes a decision that will change her life forever:

After the jump, find out what went down and relive all the wedding and goodbye drama on last night’s ep of The Hills titled Mr. & Mrs. Pratt
