Yesterday afternoon I made my way out to The Golden Apple comic book store on Melrose Ave. here in LA for an in-store appearance by Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and comic artist Tim Sale for the launch of their new comic book series Rest. I was very happy to see that a few hundred folks also came out for the comic book release event. Here are a few pics from yesterday’s fun:

When I arrived, the line of folks who came out for the event stretched down the street and around the block, it was very cool. I was fortunate enough to get to hang out with Milo’s best friends Dino and Russ (some of you may know that they, along with Milo, are the founding members of the Divide Social Club) for the duration of the in-store appearance. I got to meet a few Pink readers and, after the event was finished, I also got to snap a pic with Milo himself. I have to give a huge shout-out to Pink readers Nick, Abby, Cheyenne and Natalie (all pictured above). It was great getting to meet you all :) Respect also goes out to all the DSC gang who came out for the event. One member of DSC flew all the way from Switzerland to be at yesterday’s in-store event. Amazing! I was also lucky enough to meet Milo’s very sweet and supportive parents. They came out to the event to proudly watch their son meet and greet his fans … let me tell you, it was a pleasure meeting them. In fact, I snapped a few Polaroid pics for my collection and Milo’s dad was the one who took the Polaroid of Milo and me. Yesterday’s event was really very cool. I urge all y’all comic book fans to make your way to your local shops and pick up this new Rest series. I understand that the individual books will be published in graphic novel form soon and will be available for sale at Amazon, Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc. … but you’re gonna wanna get the individual copies as well.

Which brings me to … a new contest I’m going to announced here on the blog tomorrow. Milo very graciously signed a couple copies of his new comic book series Rest so that I could give them away to Pink is the new Blog readers:

After the fun at The Golden Apple, I met up with Jordan for a nice quiet dinner and hang-out session. We basically just chilled and got caught up with what has been going on in our lives. It was great.

Tonight … I think I’m meetin’ peeps to see SAW V. The fun never stops here in SoCal :)

Milo Ventimiglia Wants To Meet YOU!

Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia is launching his very own comic book this month and he wants you to come out and buy a copy personally from him. OK, well, mebbe you won’t be purchasing it from him exactly but he will be on hand at The Golden Apple comic book store here in LA this Saturday evening for the launch of his comic book series Rest … I’m sure he’ll also be on hand to sign a few autographs and take a few photos. Michael Jackson & Fam Celebrate Halloween Early

Michael Jackson and his three children, Prince Michael, Paris Michael and Prince Michael II, have surfaced this week here in the SoCal area and were spotted at The Golden Apple comic book store in LA. Even tho Halloween is still a couple of weeks away, Jackson and his kids still decided to don their masks of choice for the shopping excursion … much to the bewilderment of the other patrons of the store:

Not for the first time, Michael Jackson sent jaws dropping during a outing in Los Angeles. The singer took his three children – Prince Michael, 11, Paris, ten, and Prince Michael II, six – shopping this week dressed as masked Halloween characters. And never one to be left out, Jackson looked scarier than ever in a surgical mask, giant black sunglasses and a hooded jumper. The family, who are rarely seen in public, browsed a comic book store together after slipping in through a back door. When Jackson turned 50 in August he said he likes nothing more than spending time with his children. “I’m raising my children and enjoying it and teaching them to ride bicycles and how to read. I love it.” The former child star also said his kids are enjoying freedom he never had at their age. I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things. I want them to get to do the kind of things I didn’t get to do,” he added. The children removed their masked once inside the store, giving onlookers a rare glimpse at their faces. Prince Michael wore cream shorts, white trainers and a black hooded jacket on the outing while sister Paris wore a red jumper, shirt and black trousers … Jackson’s third child Prince Michael II [wore] long black hair, green pyjamas and a dark coat.

I’m sorry but this entire family is creepy, y’all. I mean … they just seem really out there. The last time we saw Jacko and his kids out in public was back in July when they surfaced at a bookstore in Las Vegas, NV (you may recall that Michael Jackson was in a wheelchair at the time, good to see he’s able to walk on his own two feet these days). I’m constantly flummoxed by everything I see from Michael Jackson and his kids … it’s hard to remember the man at the height of his glory. He is so incredibly odd now. I cannot imagine what life must be like for these children. I just hope they are happy. I mean … yeah. Wow.

The Cast Of ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Meets Their Fans

Yesterday afternoon, members of the principal cast of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles came out for an in-store meet and greet with fans of the series at The Golden Apple comic book store in Los Angeles, CA. Because I couldn’t be there in person, I sent my boy Darion to the in-store meet and greet so that he might be able to snap some photos of the event (and castmembers Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Brian Austin Green, Richard T. Jones, Garret Dillahunt, Leven Rambin and THE STUNNING Shirley Manson) and write up a report on what went down. First, here are a few of Darion’s amazing pics:

Here is the full text of what Darion sent to me about yesterday’s event:

Kirsten and I headed to the Golden Apple on Melrose in LA to see the cast of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. We had such a fantastic time! As we arrived, there was a HUGE line of fans wrapping around the block waiting to see the stars of the show. I understand the line was cut off over an hour before the signing even started due to the sheer number of people.

All the major stars of the show except for Lena Headey were in attendance! Summer Glau (Cameron Phillips), Thomas Dekker (John Connor), Brian Austin Green (Derek Reese), Garret Dillahunt (Cromartie/Terminator), Leven Rambin (Riley), Richard T Jones (James Ellison), and of course, the ever fabulous Shirley Manson (Catherine Weaver).

I have to say, as soon as we got there, I was about 3 feet from Shirley. After being a HUGE fan of Garbage – they’ve been my #1 band since the first album hit in 1995 – it was pretty amazing to be so close to my favorite performer. Shirley looked, as Trent would say, utterly faboo. It was clear she got along well with the cast, as throughout the 2+ hours they diligently met and greeted fans and signed everything from huge posters to CD’s to DVD’s, they joked and all seemed to really have together. I heard several of the cast members say at different points what huge fans they were of Shirley’s. Leven Rambin, who plays Riley, gave us a great interview and said she really looks up to Shirley.

I had a few minutes to talk to Josh Friedman, the main man himself (Executive Producer/Head Writer of the series), and was really impressed with how nice and down to earth he was. Josh shared some fun tidbits, including that his wife is actually good friends with Shirley and they’ve known each other for several years. He said he’s a huge fan of Shirley’s as well. When he asked Shirley to come on the series, she thought he was joking, and laughingly agreed! He also apparently took her to dinner and they had a few drinks before he asked her to record the Samson and Delilah song that was featured in the Season 2 Premiere episode. He said they have some great stuff planned for this season and he felt lucky to have such a fantastic cast and crew assembled on the show. He also spoke about how difficult it was to keep Shirley’s identity as a T-1001 secret but was so glad it was a secret until the episode aired.

After several hours of signing and the new episode being screened, the cast did a Q + A session for everyone in attendance. Check out the audio below:

There are some funny tidbits of info. I was able to ask Shirley Manson what kind of prep she did for the role, and her answer was quite surprising and funny!

We also had a chance to pose for photos with Summer, Thomas, and Leven at the end. Leven was also kind enough to give us a short interview, the audio clip of which is below! She talks about joining the cast and working on the show:

We must send a BIG thank you to Nicole and Susan from Fox/WB PR for taking such great care of us throughout our visit at The Golden Apple and with the cast. They were incredibly nice to us and we had a blast!

The cast couldn’t have been nicer to all the fans and we had an amazing evening!
Check out the new episode of Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles on Monday 9pm on Fox, having seen the ep I can tell you it has some fantastic and surprising scenes! Not to mention some kick ass fight sequences. And more Shirley… ;)

Gahhhh! Sounds so fun … and I think Darion did a great job reporting, yes?
