'The Bold & The Beautiful' wins Best Daytime Drama for the first time ever!!!
The 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Daytime television’s biggest night took place at The Orpheum Theatre here in Los Angeles, CA where the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out in a lavish ceremony hosted by actress/singer Vanessa Williams. The daytime drama The Bold & The Beautiful (one of my faves) took home the big prize of Best Daytime Drama for the first time in it’s 22 year history while Christian LeBlanc, from The Young & The Restless (another of my faves), took home the aware for Best Actor. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s affair:

Yes, Stacy Haiduk (who plays Mary Jane Benson/Patty Williams a crazy woman who believes her dead cat is still alive after losing her mind a bit by changing her entire face in order to stalk and seduce Jack Abbott on Y&R) brought a stuffed cat with her as her date to the Daytime Emmys … but it’s okay cuz her crazy-ass character on the show made that stuffed cat a star! While there were a lot of awards handed out last night, the big enchilada went to The Bold & The Beautiful. After the jump, check out a few photos from the show itself and a few photos of some of the winners posing with their new Emmys in the press room after the awards were handed out — plus, read all about B&B‘s big win which was 22 years in the making …

The ladies are planning a 'Dream Wedding'
Ellen And Portia Reveal (Some Of) Their Wedding Plans

Ellen DeGeneres may have won the Daytime Emmy award for Best Talk Show Host last night but that wasn’t the only reason she was all smiles on the red carpet and inside the Kodak Theater. Ellen and her fiancé Portia de Rossi showed off Portia‘s new diamond engagement ring and the pair also revealed new deets on their upcoming nuptials to People magazine. Here is a pic of Ellen and Portia showing off the ring and a supercute pic of the ladies sharing a congratulatory smooch as Ellen was announced as the Best Talk Show Host winner:

Ellen DeGeneres gave Portia de Rossi a glittering ring with pink diamonds for their upcoming wedding that will air in part on DeGeneres’s talk show. “We have set a wedding date,” said DeGeneres, who walked the red carpet with de Rossi at Friday night’s 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. De Rossi wore a green satin Lanvin gown and a Neil Lane ring on her wedding finger. The ring was a marquis cut diamond set with pink diamonds. DeGeneres … announced her plans to wed longtime girlfriend de Rossi, on her show back in May, shortly after California’s Supreme Court ruled the previous ban on gay marriages as unconstitutional. The two stars are in the midst of preparations for what DeGeneres calls “the dream wedding.” “Planning a wedding is very stressful,” says DeGeneres. “It is crazy. My gardener is now invited.” The comedienne remained tight-lipped on the major details of her upcoming nuptials to de Rossi, 35, only revealing that “incredible people” would be performing, and that she would air part of the ceremony on her show … “I can’t wait to be married. I feel like it is long overdue,” she said. “And I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous like we all don’t have the same rights.” The two stars began dating in December 2004.

Aww … I am so excited for these two. I’m sure they are going to pull out all the stops for their wedding and if I know Ellen, it’s gonna be a really fun affair. I can only imagine what the guest list looks like (anyone from Oprah Winfrey to David Beckham to Hillary Clinton to Madonna could be on it) and I cannot wait to watch it all go down on Ellen‘s show. Much congrats to the happy couple … I just hope *we* won’t have to wait *too* long to find out the wedding date ;)

So, Who Won The Daytime Emmys This Year?

Hollywood and Highland was overrun by the brightest and best of Daytime television last night as the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards took center stage (in the sweltering heat) at the Kodak Theater here in Hollywood, CA. A plethora of Daytime stars took to the red carpet last night but, to be honest, I am only really interested in the folks who appear on my fave Daytime soaps The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Here are a few folks from both shows as they made their way down the red carpet last night:

Despite nominations in many of the major categories, only 2 folks from Y&R took home Daytime Emmys last night (Kristoff St. John for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Jeanne Cooper for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series) … but I suppose much congrats should go out to the other folks who did win awards, including Ellen DeGeneres and Tyra Banks among others …
