‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’ Premieres In Japan

Brangelina wow fans in Tokyo
Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Earlier this week we saw cute photos of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and their 6 children (Maddox, Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne) making a grand arrival in Narita, Japan … and now we know why. Last night, Brangelina were in attendance at the Japanese premiere of Brad’s Academy Award-nominated film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which took place at the Roppongi Hills Arena in Tokyo last night. Ange paused to tenderly wipe some smeared schmutz off of Brad’s face before they took to the red carpet together … which is really sweet, I think:

As one of the world’s most photographed couples, the pressure is on Angelina and Brad Pitt to look good at all times. And Angelina, 33, appeared keen to make sure partner Brad, 45, was ready for his close-up as she checked his cheek to remove a smudge of what appeared to be her lipstick. The couple, who have been together for three years, were on the red carpet at the Japan premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in Tokyo. The couple arrived in Japan on Tuesday with their brood of six children including twins Knox and Vivienne. It was the first time the new arrivals have been seen in public since Brad and introduced them to the public in a £7.5million magazine deal last August. Fans queued for hours before the premiere of Pitt’s Oscar nominated film and went wild when the A-list couple made their appearance alongside the film’s director, David Fincher. And Angelina didn’t disappoint looking radiant in a body-skimming black wrap dress with puff-sleeves. While Brad stuck to his usual grey suit – albeit this time pinstripe. Angelina and Brad arrived at Narita Airport near Tokyo with their six children, Maddox, seven, Pax, five, Zahara, four, Shiloh, two, and six-month old twins Knox and Vivienne, from LA, after they attended the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. They are expected to return to their native US next month for the Oscars, where both Brad and Angelina have been nominated for Benjamin Button and Clint Eastwood’s film The Changeling respectively. Despite their large brood of six. The Changeling actress has revealed the couple are planning to adopt a seventh. And, she said the other children would not be fazed by another addition to the family. She told Hello magazine: “We have so many children they are not really stunned any more when (new) kids come home”.

Meh. What’s one more, right? No word on whether or not Angelina wore her dress forwards or backwards but, again, I love the sweet little interaction that she had with Brad before they took to the red carpet. I’m not sure if the couple plan to attend any other movie premieres between now and the Academy Awards at the end of next month but, I suspect, they’ll be on the move again soon.

‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’ Premieres In France

Brangelina celebrate their Academy Award nominations (I think)
Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who each received acting nominations from the Motion Picture Academy early Thursday morning, were both on hand at the Gaumont Marignan in Paris to attend the French premiere of Brad’s movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (for which he was nominated) later in the day. Brangelina both expressed their excitement at the news of their matching noms, tho you wouldn’t necessarily know it by looking at them on the red carpet last night:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may want to dust off the mantle and make room for matching his and her Oscar trophies after picking up Best Actor and Best Actress nominations Thursday. Pitt, whose film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button collected 13 Oscar nods, including Best Picture, called the nominations “a great honor for the movie,” while giving props to his director. “I’m especially happy for David Fincher, for without him there would be no Ben Button,” said Pitt, who was last nominated for a supporting role in Twelve Monkeys in 1996. Oscars aside, Changeling star Jolie also had words of gratitude for her director: Working with Clint Eastwood “was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime,” she said. Yet, the actress is still humbled about her nomination for her role as a mother whose son goes missing in Changeling. “To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation,” she said Thursday. “It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition.”

Personally, neither Ange nor Brad are my picks for their categories — I’d have to go with Meryl Streep in Doubt and either Sean Penn in Milk or Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler — but I’m sure they are both very happy to each be nominated for the highest acting award in Hollywood. They’ve attended a few big Award Shows together this season already but have, thus far, gone home empty handed. I fear that they may leave the Oscars empty handed as well (except for those sweet ass nominee gift bags, those have to get some lurve). I do not believe that Benjamin Button will be completely shut out and I wouldn’t be shocked if Clint Eastwood took home the directing prize but I don’t really think these movies will be the big winners of the night. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out … the Academy Awards air just under a month from now on February 22. Place your bets now, who do YOU think will walk away with little golden statues next month?

‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’ Premieres

The old man and the see
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Brangelina were the belles of the ball at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of Brad Pitt’s new film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The red carpet was a who’s who of celebs all vying for the chance to be seen at the premiere spectacle last night … here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals and some info on who came out for the big shindig:

Brad Pitt was surrounded by beautiful women at the LA premiere of David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood. Pitt and Angelina Jolie resembled classic old time movie stars. Looking a far cry from their busy mommy/daddy roles, Angie was elegant in a strapless black Versace gown, Ralph Lauren Vintage Collection drop earrings, her hair slicked back. Pitt wore a Tom Ford three-piece tuxedo suit and a moustache. But he also posed for photos with his onscreen love interest, Cate Blanchett, reportedly clad in a short, sparkly Alexander McQueen frock that looked suspiciously like a Nicolas Ghesquiere Balenciaga design, but what do I know. Brad’s parents Bill and Jane Pitt, were also on hand for their son’s big Oscar shot film. So were Jennifer Lopez, Gary Oldman, Eva Longoria-Parker, Sharon Stone and Oscar winning actress Tilda Swinton, wearing a Rodarte gown, who also plays one of Pitt’s lovers early in the film. In this incredibly moving and sweeping romance based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Pitt plays a boy who is born old but gets younger. He falls in love with Cate’s character whom he meets when he is very old man and she is very young girl, but they eventually hook up in the middle. It’s an astonishing film (getting major Oscar buzz) that gets you thinking about love, time, aging, youth, impermanence, relationships, faith, communication and all the people who’ve had an impact – big or small – in your life. Most amazing is the makeup and digital aging/youthing FX. Watching Blanchett and Pitt age in different directions is an astonishing feat that doesn’t distract from the magical love story. Blanchett didn’t make it to the flashy post party. But for a darn good reason. She hopped a red eye flight back home to Sydney so she could host the Wednesday “Button” Australian premiere, a big fundraiser for her pet passion, the Sydney Theatre Company.

Brad and Ange looked pretty amazing last night … the old skool Hollywood glam-look really works for them. It’s always a pleasure to see Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton on a red carpet … and Jennifer Lopez was lookin’ like her usual luscious Diva Latina self. Oh and I doubt that the Marley & Me premiere will be as lavish an affair as this premiere was. To be completely honest … I’m not sure I’m all that interested in seeing this film. Having seen the very extensive movie trailer pretty much gives the whole story away. BUT, there are two reasons why I will prolly make my way out to theaters to check it out — the movie is based on a story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and was directed by David Fincher (you may recall that Pitt and Fincher worked together on the stunning film Se7en). Since this is one Fitzgerald story I haven’t read yet, I’m intrigued to see what it may look like on the big screen. Add to that the fact that Fincher is one of my fave movie directors and, well, it looks like Mr. Button will be getting my $15 at the box office (unless I see it at home in Detroit, MI where my out of pocket expenses will be lowered to approx. $10).

Brad Pitt Gets Subdued By His Own Security Detail

At his own movie premiere
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Brad Pitt was on hand for a premiere screening of his new movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at the Bruin Theater in Westwood, CA last night. Arriving a half-hour before the event was to start, Brad caused a bit of a stir amongst the assembled paps who were there to photograph his every move … when they started to crowd around to photograph him, Brad’s hired security detail sprung into action. BUT, the overeager security guard did NOT push back the photogs … instead, he pounced on Brad Pitt himself and roughed him up a bit:

In a bizarre incident at Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere of his movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Brad Pitt was grabbed, pushed and spun around by a plainclothes security guard who had been hired to protect him. Pitt arrived half an hour early for the screening at the Bruin Theater in Westwood, where paparazzi promptly descended upon him. But instead of shooing the photographers away, the security guard instead went after Pitt, spinning him around and pulling him backwards – all while clutching in his teeth what appeared to be a brochure for a karate studio. A shaken Pitt had words with the guard, broke free and waited out the ruckus in an upstairs bathroom area. No news yet on the security guard’s fate.

HMMM. Mebbe it was the cheap porn’stache that threw off the security guard. I mean, when Brad first showed off his new facial hair, even we goss lovers weren’t entirely sure it was him. In any event, I don’t suspect that this very zealous security guard will be getting much work in the future “protecting” celebrity clients. I think it’s pretty much assured that he will never work for the Brangelina brood in any capacity. Glad to see that Brad managed to survive this scuffle with his own security guard in one piece. I understand that afterward, Brad was happy to smile and wave to the folks who came out to see him at last night’s screening event.
