Britney Spears Kicks Off The Second Leg Of Her Tour In The UK

"Seemingly against the odds, Britney has done it again."
Thursday, June 4th, 2009

After enjoying a few weeks off since ending the first leg of her concert tour, Britney Spears brought The Circus starring Britney Spears to London’s O2 Arena for the first of 8 shows to kick off the second leg of her tour. By pretty much all accounts, Britney’s return to the stage has thrilled the folks in the UK as the following review by Adrian Thrills from The Daily Mail makes certain. Here are a few pics from Britney’s performance in London last night:

Her life has often appeared to be something of a freak show, but Britney Spears put her troubles behind her last night as she opened her European tour with a wonderfully theatrical concert with a Big Top theme. Billed as The Circus Starring Britney Spears, it was a relentlessly high octane and superbly choreographed affair that delighted 23,000 fans. The 27-year-old superstar’s fortunes had appeared to be on the wane two years ago, with her singing career increasingly overshadowed by a messy divorce, a stint in rehab and a custody battle for her two young children. But, musically at least, things have since looked up dramatically. With her affairs now handled by her father the singer’s last two albums, Blackout and Circus, have re-established her credentials. Moving away from the bubblegum tunes of her teen years, the Louisiana-born singer has skilfully repositioned herself as a grown-up diva who leans heavily towards electronic dance music and modern R&B. This show, the first of eight in London and one in Manchester, capped what has been a remarkable comeback. Presented in the round, with three circular stages positioned amid flashing lights in the middle of the arena, it afforded every member of the largely female audience an excellent view of proceedings. It was certainly a vast improvement on 2004’s Onyx Hotel tour. The opening salvo focused heavily on songs from Blackout and Circus … Dressed as a ringmaster in a black top hat and red tails the singer made a grand entrance, descending into the hall from above, suspended in a harness. She then sang the title track from Circus before launching into another recent hit, Piece of Me. For this song, a bikini-clad Britney was paraded around the three stages while gyrating in a gilded cage – a metaphor, surely, for a life lived in the spotlight. Surrounded by scantily-clad dancers, a blonde Britney looked trimmer than of late as she lifted the audience out of their seats dancing to her third song, Womanizer. The show, which took some inspiration from recent tours by Madonna, placed visual values on a par with musical content although the majority of the fans seemed more than happy with this. Britney might possess a breathless, raspy voice with an appealing Southern twang on record, but she has never been one of pop’s more stunning singers on stage. Her dance moves, too, were so energetic that it was sometimes difficult to assess whether all of her vocals were fully live. But those dance moves were mostly brilliantly realised: one song, Boys, featured her interacting with a troupe of MBX cyclists; another, Me Against the Music, boasted a thrilling Arabian Nights theme. While the show concentrated predominantly on recent hits there was room at the end of the show for old favourites Toxic and Baby One More Time. Only the foolhardy would predict that Spears’ offstage problems have all been consigned to history. But on the evidence of the spectacular witnessed in Docklands last night she is currently staging one of pop’s most remarkable comebacks. Seemingly against the odds, Britney has done it again.

At last, the folks in Great Britain were finally able to learn what we, here in the US, have known for a few months now — Britney Spears is back, bitches!! Having seen the show myself in LA, Anaheim and Chicago, I know what the folks in London were able to enjoy last night … it sounds like the changes made to the show from the first leg of the tour went off without a hitch (Brit herself tweeted that she is happy with the changes) and afforded the British audience their own unique experience at The Circus. I continue to beam with pride that Britney has been able to soldier on with this tour and has been able to keep kickin’ ass. I hope the folks in the UK enjoy the next 7 shows and that the rest of Europe who is lucky enough to see her on tour will enjoy as well. I’m pretty sure this tour will go down as one of Britney’s most successful. And she deserves all the credit in the world.

Britney Spears Brings Her ‘Circus’ To Chicago, IL

The TV Guide
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Sadly, today is our last day in Chicago, IL as David and I are scheduled to fly back to SoCal in a couple of hours. We have had the best time here and while our stay was far too short, I think David got a good sense of how amazing this city is so we will deffo be back. Yesterday was a nice relaxing day for us … we stayed near our temporary home away from home The Hard Rock Hotel Chicago and had THE most sumptuous dinner at the China Grill. On the advice of our server, we tried a multi-course meal that was so full of deliciousness that I can’t even fully convey how tasty everything was. Each course was more tasty that the previous one … it was truly a great meal. I cannot recommend China Grill more … if you are in the city and have yet to eat here, YOU MUST. It’s really fantastic. Here are a few photos from our stay here in Chicago …

Much love goes out to our friends Joe, Lea, Shea, Sarah and Mark for making our visit to Chicago extra special and much love and many thanks goes out to John and his entire staff here at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago. We were made to feel so welcome at every turn … this was my second stay at the Hard Rock and the service just keeps getting better. Perfect location, great amenities and a great staff make this place my fave! I hope we are able to come back soon. David and I just love it here :)

But, lest you forget, last night David and I were able to see Britney Spears for the third and final time. Brit Brit played the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL and put on another fantastic show. After the jump, check out some of my photos from last night’s show …

Is Britney Spears Fraternizing With One Of Her Backup Dancers?

I sincerely hope so!!! Well, at least a little bit.
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Star magazine is reporting this week that Britney Spears has started up a romantic affiliation with 21 year old back-up dancer Chase Benz. Altho, I’ve tried to stay away from seeing too many photos from Britney’s current tour The Circus starring Britney Spears (so as not to spoil the fun before David and I see the show live for ourselves), I have taken notice of the usually shirtless Mr. Benz on stage with our dear Britney. Could it be that the two are enjoying more than a platonic work relationship?

There’s a new man in Britney Spears’ life and insiders tell Star exclusively that their relationship has grown from flirtation to full-out fireworks! Meet Chase Benz, 21, a chiseled dancer that Britney gets to bump and grind every night onstage during her Circus comeback tour. Turns out the Tennesseean has got Britney’s pulse racing offstage as well! “Brit really loves the way Chase looks, and she has a thing for Southern boys with loads of charm,” says a source. “She’s totally into him. And being on tour again, plus having a sexy new guy to get close to, has put Brit in a great frame of mind.” The best part: Chase is a stand-up guy, his grandmother tells Star. “He’s a true gentleman and has a big heart,” Elsie Mann says of Chase, who got his showbiz start in Christian music and calls Jesus “a huge part of my life” on his MySpace page. “She’s lucky to have him in her show — and Chase just adores her!”

HMMM … while I think Britney hookin’ up with this hottie would be a boon for her, I highly doubt that any such romantic canoodling is going on. I still contend that a guy like Britney’s agent Jason Trawick would be a much better romantic partner for her, I can see the appeal of gettin’ cozy with a hot young buck like Chase. He sure is easy on the eyes … BUT, if it’s one thing we should’ve learned from the Kevin Federline fiasco it’s that Britney Spears would be wise to NOT get romantically involved with the help. OY!

Britney Spears Slips A Nip On The Atlanta Stage

Also, is heard letting the "cat" out of the bag in Tampa [UPDATED: WITH VIDEO]
Monday, March 9th, 2009

Thus far, things have been going swimmingly for Britney Spears as she continues to roll across the US on her new tour The Circus starring Britney Spears … but accidents will happen … and boy, have they happened. In Atlanta, on the second performance of her tour, one of Britney’s breasts almost entirely popped out of her top as she shimmied her way thru one of her dance numbers … as a result, only one of her nips managed to escape from its covering:

Hee Hee … but the accidents don’t stop there. In Tampa, Florida … an exacerbated Britney was reportedly heard over the PA system remarking to her wardrobe people that a part of her female anatomy was “hanging out” of her costume while she changed for her next number — and she used much more colorful language than I am using here. Apparently, someone forgot to switch off her microphone and her colorful remarks were heard in the entire arena. Lovely. After the jump, check out the uncensored NSFW image above and hear what Britney was heard exclaiming to her people backstage and the entire Tampa arenaNOW WITH VIDEO PROOF

Britney Spears Performs In Front Of A Sold Out Audience In New Orleans

A smashing success!!!
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Well … she did it. Britney Spears successfully performed the opening night show of her new tour The Circus starring Britney Spears in front of a sold out house at the New Orleans Area in New Orleans, LA last night. I did my best to stay away from as many spoilers from the show as I could so as not to ruin the experience for me weeks before I get to see her on stage for myself … and there were a lot of spoilers flying around as the show took place last night. THIS Twitter profile, created specifically for Britney’s tour, provided almost minute-by-minute updates from the show. I chose not to read the posts. But the photos, well, those I could not pass up:

In order to NOT SPOIL the experience for those of you who wish to remain unspoiled, I have put all photos from last night’s show behind the cut. And while I did my best to stay unspoiled myself, I couldn’t help but look at a few photos. Additionally, BreatheHeavy.com posted a few new sketches (created by costume designers Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared) of some of Britney’s amazing tour costumes, which I’ve also hidden behind the cut. After the jump, check out a few photos from Britney Spears’s opening night performance in NoLA last night as well as a look at a few amazing sketches from her tour costumes — BE WARNED: Spoilers Ahead …
