The A+ Team

Last night David and I got together with our friends Darion, Devin, Jordan, Josh R. and Josh Z. to see The A-Team at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA — and we had a total blast! After some worry, I am very happy to say that I loved every single second of the new A-Team remake movie:

As you might expect, the film is chock full of over-the-top ridiculousness but it is wholly and entirely fun … I couldn’t get enough. The casting is perfect and the acting is, well, not important. If you are looking for a superfun action film, The A-Team is the movie for you. The crazy action gets underway immediately and it rarely lets up enough for you to catch your breath. The special effects are pretty good and Jessica Biel doesn’t ruin the movie nearly enough to make it unentertaining ;) The only thing I was surprised by was how little the iconic A-Team van is featured in the flick. To be honest, the drawbacks are so inconsequential that they aren’t even worth mentioning. I loved this movie so much … I can’t wait to see it again and again.

I had so much fun with my friends last night that I’ve decided to start my own special forces unit … called The gAy Team:

Clearly, Darion is (gives good) Face, I am Mr. T(rent), Josh Z. is Token (cuz he’s the lone straight dude in The gAy Team) and the other guys are various other witty names that I can’t really come up with right now. After the movie, we all went out for drinks and revelry afterward … it was a really fun night.

Tonight I’m planning to hang out with Josh R. and his friend Essly for some Sex and the City 2 fun … I hear we may run into Joan Rivers … or something. Stay tuned, I may have fun stories to share tomorrow.

Go see The A-Team, I promise … it’s a good time … and Bradley Cooper is shirtless on more than one occasion :D

‘The A-Team’ Releases A New Poster, A New Trailer

It’s been a couple of months since we’ve seen any new promo materials from the upcoming big screen adaptation of The A-Team (due out in theaters this Summer) … but today we get to check out a new poster (which isn’t all that great) and a new movie trailer (which is). First up, the poster:

20th Century Fox has released the new trailer for The A-Team today along with the new poster! … Directed by Joe Carnahan and opening June 11, The A-Team follows the exciting and daring exploits of a colorful team of former Special Forces soldiers who were set up for a crime they did not commit. Going “rogue,” they utilize their unique talents to try and clear their names and find the true culprit. Liam Neeson (Taken), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), mixed martial arts champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, and District 9 sensation Sharlto Copley, are “The A-Team.”

The poster I don’t love … it’s a bit too crowded. The trailer, on the other hand, I like a lot. It may not be as action-packed as the first trailer that we got to see in early January (but, rest assured, they managed to squeeze in the flying tank shooting missiles at the jet airplanes) but it does give a better sense of what the film will be. After the jump, check out this new trailer in full …

‘The A-Team’ Releases A New Batch Of Promo Photos

Back in October we got our first look at the first promo pic released from the upcoming big screen adaptation of the 80′s TV series The A-Team and just a week ago today, we got our first look at the first promo trailer for the film. Today, we get to see a whole batch of NEW promo pics from the new version of The A-Team:

The fans have already had their appetite whetted with the release of the first trailer this week. But at only 90-seconds long, their thirst for the new A Team movie was soon going to have to be satisfied even more. Today, new stills from the eagerly-awaited movie version of the popular Eighties show were released by 20th Century Fox showing even more action shots. The A Team themselves – Faceman, Murdock, B.A Baracus and Hannibal – are seen running away from a huge explosion in one shot, while in another, Bradley Cooper, who plays Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck and Liam Neeson, who stars as John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, catch their breath afterwards. Neeson’s Hannibal, played by the late George Peppard, who died aged 65 in 1994, in the TV series, is then seen lighting up his trademark cigar. Another scene shows Hannibal looking over some plans with B.A Baracus, played by UFC star Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, taking on the role made famous by Mr T. Jessica Biel, who plays Lieutenant Carissa Sosa, a government agent who’s pursuing the A-Team is also seen in one shot looking cool and sexy in aviator shades. She also becomes Faceman’s love interest, who is seen in another scene sunning himself in the desert as the team take a break from saving the world. The film is due to be released this July but have already faced opposition from die-hard fans of the cult TV series, which ran from 1983 to 1987, who are not happy with the ‘Hollywoodisation’ of it.

I mean, c’mon, the film will either be loved or hated by the fans. I don’t know that there is a huge number of diehard A-Team fans out there, so producers really only have to worry about getting enough hype around the film to get people to see it in theaters. I’m still not 100% convinced the film will be a hit but until we get to see the film for ourselves, we’ll have to all reserve judgment. After the jump, check out the new batch of promo photos from The A-Team, including a hot photo of a very shirtless Bradley Cooper as Templeton Faceman Peck

The First Movie Trailer For ‘The A-Team’ Leaks To The Internets

The first movie trailer for the big screen adaptation of The A-Team has leaked its way to the Internets before it was to make its big screen debut in movie theaters this weekend. As you might imagine, the movie adaptation of the classic 80′s TV series is chock full of lame jokes, cheesy situations and a tank flying thru the air shooting missiles at jet airplanes. Here are a few screencaps from the trailer:

I’m seriously not kidding about the flying tank. You’re just gonna hafta watch the video trailer to see for yourselves — check it out after the jump …

First Look: Jessica Biel In ‘The A-Team’

Earlier this week we got our first look at the newly reconstructed version of The A-Team featuring Bradley Cooper (Lt. Templeton Faceman Peck), Liam Neeson (Col. John Hannibal Smith), Sharlto Copley (Capt. Howling Mad Murdock) and Quinton Rampage Jackson (Sgt. Bosco B.A. Baracus) on set in Vancouver, BC filming their new remake also titled The A-Team. Thus far we have yet to see Jessica Biel, cast as the female lead, on set or in costume … until now. Here is our first look at Jessica in The A-Team:

Earlier this week we saw the first pictures of the male cast members in character for their roles in the new A-Team film, and now it’s the turn of female lead Jessica Biel. The 27-year-old actress was pictured filming in an airport for the remake, which is being shot in Canada. Jessica plays an army general, and an ex-lover of Faceman (actor Bradley Cooper), who is pursuing the vigilante group. In the scene the actress cuts a an authoritative figure in a blue leather trenchcoat with a thigh-length grey skirt and a killer pair of heels – the kind of outfit that you might associate with a femme fatale in a spy film. Jessica was the last member of the cast to be confirmed for the new film and her role is an update of the part played by Melinda Culea in the original TV series.

At last … we get to see what everyone will look like in the film. I’m not sure what I was expecting of Jessica‘s character but she looks pretty nondescript to me. I seem to recall that the female lead in the 80′s TV series The A-Team wore frilly, multicolored outfits that suited the times … I dunno that Jessica will be able to do the same in this movie version. Again, not that I watched the TV much when it aired in the 80′s but I think there was a certain cheese factor that made the show so fun … if this remake has too much of a serious tone I don’t know that it will score with fans of the original. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Are any of y’all impressed with how Jessica looks in this film?

Action!
‘The A-Team’ Assembled

First we saw the van … then we saw the Face … and now we get to see the entire new version of The A-Team assembled and hard at work in Vancouver, BC filming scenes for the new movie based on the classic 80′s TV series of the same name. Here is a group shot of The A-Team (Lt. Templeton Faceman Peck, Col. John Hannibal Smith, Capt. Howling Mad Murdock and Sgt. Bosco B.A. Baracus) as portrayed by actors Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Sharlto Copley and Quinton Rampage Jackson:

I will say this about this new remake, the folks in charge did an excellent job with casting. Bradley Cooper is the perfect Faceman and Sharlto Copley (from District 9) is the perfect rising star to plug into an action/adventure movie of this size. I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve seen thus far … so far, so good. After the jump, check out individual photos of each member of the new A-Team elsewhere on the set …

Bradley Cooper, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson report for duty
Filming Continues On The Set Of ‘The A-Team’

Last weekend we got our first look at the set of the upcoming movie version of the 80′s action TV series The A-Team and today we get to see a few more pics from the set … including a photo of Bradley Cooper who has been cast to play prettyboy Lt. Templeton Faceman Peck and a promo pic of Quinton Rampage Jackson, who has been cast as the new Sgt. Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus … behold:

A helicopter and the infamous black van feature in some of the first pics from the new A-Team film. The remake, which is being filmed in Canada, has just started filming after the final cast members were added last week. Jessica Biel, 27, is to be the leading lady in the feature, which has been adapted from the hit 80s TV series. She is joined by Liam Neeson, 57, who plays Hannibal, Bradley Cooper, 34 (Face), Sharlto Copley, 35 (Murdoch), Patrick Wilson, 36 (A CIA operative), and UFC fighter Quinton Jackson, 31 (B.A. Baracus). In the pictures, taken on the film’s Canadian set, we see the classic GMC van which was used in the 1980s programme. It was the A-Team’s main mode of transport, which they often transformed into an armoured vehicle using makeshift tools and materials which they always conveniently came across in times of need. In another picture Quinton Jackson can be seen inside a helicopter, which appears to be some kind of emergency vehicle. Fans of the original show are likely to be slightly miffed at seeing his character, B.A., flying – as one of the show’s running jokes was that he had a fear of flying. Other members of the team would come up with inventive ways to knock him out (such as a carton of milk laced with drugs), in order to get him onto a plane, usually preceeded by his catchphrase ‘I ain’t gettin’ on no plane, fool’.

Man … there really is no replacement for Mr. T but I’m sure this Rampage fellow will do a fine job. I like that they updated B.A. Baracus‘s jewelry … tho, I do kinda miss all those gold chains. As I’ve mentioned before, all these movie remakes are gettin’ kinda old but since I didn’t really watch the show when it aired in the 80′s, I don’t think I’d mind seeing it adapted for the big screen in modern times. Bradley Cooper will make a great Faceman in the flick. Looks fun!

Pilfering the 80's again
‘The A-Team’ Movie Begins Filming

Here are the first photos snapped on the Canadian set of the movie version of the 80′s TV show The A-Team. To my knowledge, there are still a few key roles to be cast in the film but it looks like production on the film is already underway. Check out the 2010 version of the classic A-Team van:

While the new Karate Kid movie is a remake of the original film, there has never been a movie version of The A-Team. As a kid, I didn’t really watch The A-Team, even tho I was well aware that Mr. T was the break-out star of the show. I guess I don’t have the same affinity for The A-Team like I do for The Karate Kid so I don’t mind the idea of a new movie version so much. I’m very curious to see who they actual sign on to portray The A-Team characters … I think this movie will be judged on casting before the thing even gets made. If they don’t get the B. A. Baracus character right, there ain’t no hope for the movie. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
