Last Saturday we got to check out a short preview clip of Taylor Swift‘s new music video for her song Safe & Sound, the first single from the forthcoming soundtrack album The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond. Today, we get to see the music video in full. There isn’t a lot of action taking place in this stark video but, I think, the simplicity works for the song. In late December we got our first listen of Taylor Swift‘s new song Safe & Sound (featuring Civil Wars) which is the first single from the official soundtrack of The Hunger Games titled The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond. In mid-January, we got to check out a live concert performance of the song at a Civil Wars concert in Nashville, TN. Today we get to check out a short sneak peek at the music video for the song. The full music video for Safe & Sound will premiere Monday night on MTV but right now we get our first taste of Taylor‘s newest music video.

A few weeks ago I reported that Taylor Swift was going to be taking a lead role in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. Pink readers were pretty shocked and dismayed at the casting choice. One person even commented, “this is my fav musical and it breaks my heart to see them trying to make it popular for preteens by choosing a popstar over talent.” Well, you will be glad to know that Taylor Swift is not going to be cast. Country music star Taylor Swift is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vogue magazine which is due to hit newsstands on January 24. In her coverstory interview, Taylor dishes a bit about her next album and, true to form, she plans to use events that occurred from her personal romantic relationships in her new collection of songs. Now, I think we ALL remember that Taylor famously “dated” (or whatever) Jake Gyllenhaal in late 2010 so it’s possible some songs may be about him. After Jake, Taylor also dated Glee star Chord Overstreet for a hot minute so … some songs could be about him. HMMM. Last month, just before Xmas, we got a GREAT early present when the first single from the soundtrack to The Hunger Games was released. Safe & Sound by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars is the first single released from the Games soundtrack and by and large the song has been met with positive responses from most people. Last night, Taylor joined The Civil Wars on stage during their concert in Nashville, TN to surprise the audience with the first live performance of Safe & Sound. What do you think of this new cast? Taylor Swift is going to be playing the role of Eponine in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical Les Miserables. The rest of the cast is pretty special too. The movie is due for release December 2012 but already there is buzz around who is going to be in it.

Altho we are still a few months away from the release of The Hunger Games in theaters, the promo machine for the film is already in HIGH gear. We’ve already seen posters for the film and we’ve learned of the forthcoming release of a cosmetics line themed on the film … and today we get to hear the first single from the film soundtrack. Last night, at the Nokia Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, CA, the 2011 American Music Awards were handed out for excellence in music … or something. Like the People’s Choice Awards, IMHO, the AMAs have become less of an achievement event and more of a promo event. Still, crystal pyramid trophies were handed out to lucky winners and country popstar Taylor Swift was the luckiest of them all. Taylor was honored with 3 awards — including the big Artist of the Year award — while others, like Nicki Minaj, walked away with two awards … and others still, like Jennifer Lopez, nabbed one award. Taylor Swift continues to rack up the accolades as today we learn that the young country-pop singer has been chosen by Billboard magazine as their Woman of the Year this year. With this honor, Taylor becomes the youngest artist to achieve this award … which is pretty impressive, if you ask me. Last month we got to see video of Taylor Swift performing a medley of Eminem and Uncle Kracker songs on her tour stop in Michigan (the homestate of both artists). This week, Taylor brought her tour to Louisiana — homestate of our dear Britney Spears — and decided to pay homage to the living legend by performing her classic song Lucky.
