Back in May it was reported that Universal Pictures was planning a reunion/sequel film of the 1999 teen comedy American Pie. Today we get to see a very cool new promo pic of many of the principle original castmembers together again. In October we learned the sad news that Tara Reid would be posing for Playboy magazine and today we get our first look at her Playboy coverphoto for the massive January/February double issue. Reid, who once swore she would never pose for Playboy, now voices her pride for stripping down for the mag:

Tara Reid has overcome her botched plastic surgery insecurities by stripping down to pose for the upcoming issue of Playboy magazine. Dressed in a cropped tuxedo shirt, fishnet stockings and black lace bra, the “American Pie” actress seductively poses on the cover of the magazine’s “massive double” January/February issue. Despite previous reports the actress would be posing in the buff, Reid says she appears only topless in the pictorial. “I’m in my 30s now. I feel like I’m at the best age in my life, mentally, spiritually, physically, of how I feel,” she told WPIX Channel 11 News. “I’m proud of it.” However, the 33-year-old actress wasn’t always so proud of her body. A bungled 2004 liposuction procedure and breast augmentation left her with scars that she previously said would keep her from ever posing for the magazine. “I know there are problems with my stomach. There are bumps on it, it’s uneven, but it’s not that bad. My stomach scars are my battle wounds,” she told the magazine In Touch Weekly at the time. But now, Reid, who underwent reconstructive surgery in 2006 to repair the damage, is showing off her newfound confidence. According to the mag, the actress was reportedly nervous when she shot the pictorial in October at a private residence in Santa Monica, Calif. However, she became more comfortable as the day went on. “She was a bit insecure about her body when they first started,” said an insider. “She looked great and finally got into the groove.”

It is a happy day indeed when Tara Reid gets her groove back. I guess the old adage Never Say Never rings true once again. I truly hope this Playboy pictorial does good things for Tara‘s career … considering that she doesn’t really have a career anymore, it can only get better, right? I commend her for getting over the insecurities she endured after suffering her botched plastic surgeries but, to be honest, I’m not really all that interested in seeing just how confident she really is. Good for her for scoring Playboy‘s cover, tho. I guess dreams really do come true.

OY!! Upsetting news for you Playboy magazine aficionados out there … if you thought featuring Heidi Montag in the pages of the iconic nudie mag was bad news then you ain’t heard nothin’ yet. According to new reports, Tara Reid will be appearing in all her glory gory in an upcoming issue of Playboy. I’m not sure if many of you recall but a few years ago, a heavily intoxicated Reid walked a red carpet event and inadvertently let one of her monstrously silicone-filled breasts fall right out of her top in full view of all the waiting cameras. The world was SHOCKED to see the scars left on her breast by the botched boob job she had done … I’m not sure the world is ready for another look at her Frankenboobs:

People magazine is reporting that partygirl extraordinaire Tara Reid has willfully and voluntarily checked herself into rehab. Choosing the Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, CA, Reid’s publicist asks the media to “respect her and her family’s privacy at this time” by issuing a press release to the most popular, most celeb-friendly magazine. Ummm:

Tara Reid is in rehab, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Tara Reid has checked herself into Promises Treatment Center. We appreciate your respect to her and her family’s privacy at this time,” the actress’s rep Jack Ketsoyan tells PEOPLE. The rep would not reveal what Reid, 33, is being treated for. A friend of the troubled actress says she headed to the treatment facility on Tuesday. “Her friends and family are supportive of her decision,” says the friend. “She checked in herself – it was her decision.” It is unclear if Reid, who launched the fashion line Mantra in September, will spend the holidays at Promises.

The first thought that occurred to the skeptic in me was that we’ve not heard from or seen Tara Reid in quite some time (neither on film or merely out in public) and that this decision to go to rehab is merely a ploy to get attention. When you consider that she chose to get help at the Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, CA (basically rated as a 5 star resort), well, it does seem a wee bit suspect. But then again … perhaps the fact that we’ve not seen her out in public means that she’s been quietly battling her addictions out of public view. Mebbe choosing a cushier rehab center like Promises is a way to ease into getting help? At this point, we can’t be sure if either scenario is true. I, for one, sincerely hope that — if Tara is really serious about getting help — she does get the help that she needs. I still remember that sweet and innocent Tara Reid that we got to know and love when she broke on the scene all those years ago (circa the Josie and the Pussycats era). Get well soon, Tara! Here’s hoping you are finally on the path to health and prosperity.
