Last night, live at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC, NY, a new ultimate survivor was crowned on the season finale of Survivor: Tocantins. As usual, the entire cast of contestants was on hand with show host Jeff Probst to find out who was able to Outwit, Outplay and Outlast in order to win the $1 million prize … and it came down to two players — Stephen and JT:

But, so as not to spoil the news for those of you who have yet to watch the finale, I’ll keep the reveal behind the cut. I will say, tho, that the winner won by unanimous jury vote — only the second time in Survivor‘s 18 season history that that has happened …

CBS has unveiled the new cast of Survivor: Tocantins, which premieres on February 12 at the same bat time, same bat channel. Among the new crop of “survivalists” vying for a chance to outwit, outplay and outlast their competitors for a million dollar prize are folks from a variety of walks of life … including a bartender, a US Army sergeant and a model. Perhaps the most interesting contestant, at least by celeb standards, is the inclusion of a former member of the 90′s pop group SWV (Sisters With Voices). As a former member of the pop group SWV, Taj Johnson-George managed to survive the album charts in the early ’90s. Is she ready for Survivor…or will she be too “Weak”? The singer is one of 16 new castaways on Survivor: Tocantins—the Brazilian Highlands, the 18th installment of the Emmy-winning CBS series.

Jeff Probst will host once again, but the beginning of the season is all about first impressions. The contestants—who also include a school principal, an Army sergeant and a cattle rancher—have already been divided into two tribes. Before the castaways even have a chance to speak to one another, they’ll have to choose one person from each tribe to stay behind. As a CBS release says, “Will this mean the end for these two individuals or will they get a second chance to make a first impression?”

Viewers can find out when the season kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 12. In the meantime, here’s a list of the potential million-dollar winners:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Taj Johnson-George from SWV is among the new cast … I really loved SWV back in the day. I just hope she doesn’t turn out to be a dud of a competitor … I want her to bring it and bring it good.
