Earlier this year, True Blood co-stars Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgård were great sports and participated in a TB fan-driven charity event called The Battle of the Fang and, as I understand it, helped raise thousands of dollars for each actor’s favorite charity. The team able to raise the most money thruout the challenge won the right to have both Stephen and Alexander wear t-shirts designed by the winning team. Alexander Skarsgård would like to see the fund raising in his honor go to SOS Children’s Villages, an organization that focuses on family-based, long-term care of children who can no longer grow up with their biological families. At SOS Children’s Villages and SOS Youth Facilities they experience reliable relationships and love once again, meaning that they can recover from what they have experienced, which has often been traumatic. They grow up in a stable family environment, and are supported individually until they become independent young adults. We will be working with the SOS Swedish branch (Alexander’s native country) to fund a Children’s Village in Bovary, Ukraine.

Not only am I impressed by the ability of a network of fan websites to organize a contest like this but I am also impressed by the willingness of these actors to play along and participate. And how much did fans raise to get these guys to model these t-shirts? Team Bill raised $35,043 while Team Eric raised $34,223. Congrats to the winners for their hard work and kudos all around for finding a very fun way to raise much needed funds for two important charities. Aren’t these photos great?

Spike TV held its annual Scream Awards at the Greek Theater in Hollywood, CA last night and they managed to get some of the biggest names in Hollywood to come out and party with the fanboys. From Sir Anthony Hopkins to Halle Berry, comic legend Bill Murry to director Christopher Nolan — the iconic Sigourney Weaver … the 2010 Spike Scream Awards were a Who’s Who of the biggest names in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comic Books, Horror, Video Games, TV, Movies and MORE! Here are some of the folks who strutted their stuff on the red carpet last night along with some spoilery deets from Access Hollywood about what went down at last night’s taping of the Spike Scream Awards (which won’t air until Tuesday October 19):

Ghouls and goblins… Fanboys and freaks… Not to mention, huge stars including Halle Berry, Kristen Stewart, James Cameron, Megan Fox, Mickey Rourke and Michael J. Fox… They all were out in full force for Spike TV’s 5th Annual “SCREAM 2010” awards on Saturday night at the Greek Theatre nestled deep in the woods of LA’s Griffith Park. More than just a frightfest, this still young event has become an awards show for the Comic-Con crowd – honoring sci-fi fare like nomination-leading film “Inception” and TV’s “Lost,” as well as the more expected genre nominees like “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Zombieland.” The atmosphere was nothing short of inspired. Fans were all dressed up as their favorite characters. The elaborate “Inception”-designed stage was accented by a giant replica of the film’s famous spinning top. A giant full moon (at times becoming a circular saw or the “Back to the Future” watchtower clock) dominated the backdrop. The presenter platforms were circled by gargoyles spitting fire from their mouths and the trophy ladies were dressed as Natalie Portman’s character in the upcoming “Black Swan.” The evening began with Halle Berry in a shiny mini-dress, introducing the night’s most nominated project, “Inception.” Director Christopher Nolan was on hand to accept on behalf of the dream-bending film’s six wins for the night. In true Comic-Con fashion, some of the most anticipated films of the upcoming year used the night to introduce first looks at footage. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Emma Roberts and Wes Craven were on hand to world premiere the first footage of “Scream 4,” which drew a huge fan reaction. Other first look world premieres included: “Paranormal Activity 2,” Rainn Wilson on hand to present “Super,” AMC’s new original series “The Walking Dead,” Anthony Hopkins on hand to present “The Rite,” new footage from “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows,” and new scenes from the upcoming DVD release of “Avatar.” The biggest crowd reaction of the night came when Bill Murray came out in a Ghostbusters costume (accompanied by Ray Parker Jr.‘s famous theme song) to accept on behalf of “Zombieland” for its win for Best Horror Film. “It’s all I had that was clean,” he declared to an ecstatic crowd. Reunions were also a big theme for the evening. David Spade introduced Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, who were on hand to promote the 25th anniversary re-release of the “Back to the Future” trilogy. The film’s famous DeLorean even made an appearance … Other highlights of the night included James Cameron introducing a special award to Sigourney Weaver (who emerged from a giant “Alien” egg)… a music video from Break.com featuring Seth Green, Stan Lee and Katee Sackhoff called “Geek & Gamer Gurls,” set to the tune of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”… And the best line of the night, which came courtesy of Sarah Silverman: “I just met Megan Fox backstage and she should totally be in Eli Roth’s next movie…. But even if she’s not, I hope she gets tortured and decapitated anyways.”

Since I was lucky enough to attend the Scream Awards last night, I got to watch all of the awesomeness unfold live on stage … and I had a blast. You must tune in Tuesday night to watch … this year’s Spike Scream Awards is by far the best one yet … and it only promises to keep getting better! Last night I was graciously invited to attend the 2010 Spike Scream Awards which were taped at the Greek Theater here in Hollywood, CA and I have to tell you, I had a really fantastic time. Some award shows are just more trouble than they are worth … the red carpet can be a bit of a nightmare and sometimes the staging and production are pretty lame … not so of the Scream Awards this year:

The Spike Scream Awards are still kinda new so the show hasn’t gotten too big and, therefore, unfun. This year, Spike managed to get some of THE biggest names in Hollywood to attend … making for not only a really fun awards show but THE best Spike Scream Awards yet. The newly hitched Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have made their way to London, England for the first time as a married couple this week after their disappointing showing at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards this past weekend. As you may know, True Blood kinda didn’t win anything at the Emmys despite the show’s popularity with viewers. Undaunted, Anna and Stephen packed their bags and made their way back to Moyer‘s motherland … behold:

This is only the 2nd time that the couple have been photographed together since they were married in Malibu, CA 2 weekends ago. The couple did spend time with Anna‘s family in the days following their nuptials, now it’s time to spend time with Stephen‘s family. I suppose it’s possible that London is just a stop-over on the couple’s way to their honeymoon … I wonder where they’ll pop up next.

Last night at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out on LIVE TV in a telecast that offered some entertainment, lots of surprises and a bit of disappointment. Here are a few photos of some of the attendees of last night’s Emmy Awards as they made their grand arrivals on the red carpet:

As for the show itself, well, overall I was a bit underwhelmed by what we were given. I thought Jimmy Fallon did a fairly good job as host but much of the show was tedious and annoying. The announcer who wouldn’t shut up as the night progressed really got on my nerves. They need to get rid of him, like, seriously. I really enjoyed Jimmy‘s musical interludes and I really enjoyed the show’s Glee-themed opening number. In case you missed it or just want to watch it again, you can do so after the jump …

Today’s the big day! The 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which honors the best in television arts and sciences, will air LIVE tonight on NBC at 8PM ET, 5PM ET. But, before the big show takes place tonight there was a whole lotta rehearsin’ going on at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA yesterday afternoon. Here are a few photos of some of the celebrity presenters rehearsing their stage cues yesterday along with some deets from inside the theater about what went down:

It was all laughs on the Nokia Theatre stage Saturday afternoon during rehearsals for Sunday’s show. Ricky Gervais, dressed casually in a T-shirt and track pants, poured on the comedy when comparing the Emmys with the Golden Globes, the more loose, party-like ceremony he hosted earlier this year and is slated to emcee again in 2011. “What’s wrong with having a little beer?” he asked. A smiley Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted the Emmys last year, greeted executive producer Don Mischer in the makeshift control room erected in the audience by yelling “Cut to commercial! Cut to commercial!” Harris later practiced his outstanding lead actress in a comedy series introduction, which features Harris poking fun at new host Jimmy Fallon. Jim Parsons from “The Big Bang Theory” and Sofia Vergara from “Modern Family” giggled their way through their bit, cracking up when she pronounced “Big Bang” in her thick Colombian accent. Keri Russell also joked around with Will Arnett, who mockingly booed when stand-ins for “American Idol” producers practiced accepting the competitive reality series Emmy.

Additionally, Deadline Hollywood claims to have the skinny on how Emmy host Jimmy Fallon plans to open tonight’s show. It’s Emmy Weekend and you know what that means … parties, parties, parties! Entertainment Weekly magazine got things going last night by teaming up with Women In Film to host their annual Pre-Emmy Award soiree at the Restaurant at The Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood, CA. Many of the folks from True Blood were in attendance last night, including newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer who were photographed together for the first time since they hot hitched in Malibu, CA last weekend. Here are a few photos of some of the celebrants at EW‘s par-tay and some deets about the other soirées that took place around town last night:

Celebrities roaming the Entertainment Weekly and Women in Film pre-Emmy party late Friday night seemed to stay in packs. Fellow comedians Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher chatted outside the restaurant at the luxurious Sunset Marquis hotel, while adroit “Parks and Recreation” co-stars Adam Scott and Aubrey Plaza held court on the patio. Seth MacFarlane, nominated for original music and lyrics for “Family Guy,” and Seth Green, nominated in the voice-over category for “Robot Chicken,” kept each other in stitches near the bar. Inside, invitees filled golden goodies bags with free makeup. Other attendees included Craig Robinson from “The Office” and Jason Ritter from the upcoming “The Event.” The men of “Modern Family” reunited Friday night at the Emmys’ performers nominee reception at Wolfgang Puck’s Spectra inside the Pacific Design Center. Emmy nominees Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Fred Willard, along with Nolan Gould, who plays Burrell’s son on the ABC comedy, mingled at the posh cocktail party … On the other side of the party, “Dexter” actor James Remar and other attendees filled their plates with Chinese chicken salad, Shangri La lobster and miso-glazed salmon. Partygoers also feasted outside on the balcony on short ribs and sweet plantains while listening to a jazz band perform such tunes as “I Kissed a Girl” and the theme song from “Frasier.” Nominees in attendance, including “Mad Men” actress Elisabeth Moss and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, were presented with certificates by Academy of Television Arts and Sciences chairman John Schaffner, who recalled accidentally stepping on Glenn Close’s gown at a Screen Actors Guild event before he handed the “Damages” star her accolade.

There will be a host of parties going on here in LA tonight on the eve of the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air LIVE on NBC tomorrow night at 8PM ET, 5PM PT. We are just 2 days away from the big 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards set to air LIVE on NBC Sunday night at 8PM ET, 5PM PT. All week long we’ve been keeping up with Emmy host Jimmy Fallon and his preparations for the show … but today we learn about which of the A-List TV celebs will be presenting awards this Sunday night. True Blood superstars and newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have been announced as presenters … as have Glee‘s Matthew Morrison, 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey, The Office‘s John Krasinski among others. Read on to find out who else will be handing out Emmy trophies during the live telecast this weekend:

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have signed on as presenters for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles, organizers said. The newlywed couple’s “True Blood” co-star Alexander Skarsgard has also been booked for Sunday’s event honoring the season’s best in television. The trio joins previously announced presenters Will Arnett, Stephen Colbert, Edie Falco, Tina Fey, Laurence Fishburne, Ricky Gervais, Jon Hamm, January Jones, John Krasinski, LL Cool J, Julianna Margulies, Joel McHale, Matthew Morrison, Eva Longoria Parker, Jim Parsons, Matthew Perry, Keri Russell, Blair Underwood and Sofia Vergara.

The last batch of Emmys presenters is unveiled and it includes nominees Claire Danes and Ted Danson. The former is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role in “Temple Grandin” while the latter has lost to “Dexter” star John Lithgow in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Joining Danes and Danson in the presenters list are fellow nominee Mariska Hargitay, Emily Deschanel, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Meloni, Lauren Graham, Tom Selleck, Maura Tierney and “Undercovers” couple Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. This string of stars complete the line-up who will take duties on the August 29 ceremony. The show will be broadcast live on NBC from the Nokia Theatre at 5 P.M. PDT.

Last weekend Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer got themselves hitched in a surprise wedding ceremony in Malibu, CA … and haven’t been seen together since. Yesterday, Stephen showed up in Venice Beach, CA with some friends … and sans new wife. Today we learn that Anna spent her Monday shopping with her mother Mary at Fred Segal (where she may have run into Paris Hilton?) and altho reluctant at first, ended up giving us a flash of her sparkly new wedding bling:

As you may recall, in the photos we saw yesterday of the newly married Stephen, he was NOT wearing his wedding ring … but I think he learned his lesson. Yesterday we learned the very happy news that True Blood costars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer got themselves hitched in a surprise wedding ceremony in Malibu, CA this past Saturday night. Today we get to see new photos of the new husband out and about with some of his BFFs in Venice Beach, CA yesterday … strangely, Stephen was not in the company of his new wife … nor was he wearing his wedding ring:

It should be noted that Anna and Stephen have always enjoyed an unconventional relationship so none of this should be at all surprising. Just because the couple got married doesn’t mean they have to be joined at the hip 24/7. Perhaps Stephen isn’t the kind of guy who likes to wear a ring? Perhaps Anna spent the day with her BFFs elsewhere? To be honest, I’m just glad that in addition to stepping out ringless and wifeless, Stephen also spent some time shirtless ;) That being said, I cannot wait to see the newlyweds out and about TOGETHER hopefully soon.
