After 4 years and 6 seasons, the show comes to a close
‘The Hills’ Is Dunzo . . . For ‘Real’!

Well … that’s it, the end, fini, over … dunzo! The Hills, the reality TV series that was spun off of the original MTV series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, came to an end last night as the series finale episode aired on MTV. For the past 4 years, The Hills has provided some of the most significant pop culture moments of celebrity/reality TV hybrid programming and provided us with hours of extremely addictive if primarily vapid entertainment. Whether you love the show, hate the show, love to hate the show or whatever … you cannot deny the impact of The Hills. I’ve been with these characters since Laguna Beach debuted back in 2004 and despite some waning excitement over the years, I’ve watched every single episode and for the most part loved the series overall. Here are some photos from last night’s red carpet arrivals at the The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending afterparty which was held at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, CA:

“The Hills,” the landmark reality soap that cemented Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and their pals as tabloid superstarlets, died Tuesday at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. It was 4. The popular series’ cause of death wasn’t provided, but MTV president of programming Tony DiSanto previously called it “an organic culmination of this saga.” “I’m oddly devastated that it’s come to an end,” said Ben “B-Side” Mandelker, who blogs about “The Hills” and its New York-set offspring “The City” on bsideblog.com. “My five-year goal was to appear as a sidekick on the show, ideally with a subtitle that defines me solely as the friend of someone else. Sadly, that dream never came to fruition.” After 102 installments, “The Hills” faded into the sunset Tuesday with a goodbye gala attended by the show’s cast and a wink, wink twist ending in the final episode that had friends-with-benefits Kristin Cavallari and Brody Jenner seemingly saying goodbye in front of the Hollywood sign, then appearing in front of a backdrop on the Paramount Studios’ lot. “With ‘The Hills’ off the air, I no longer have to field questions about the show’s authenticity,” said Mandelker. “I can think of about 10 different things I’d rather do than engage in yet another dumb argument about whether or not ‘The Hills’ is staged. I just tell people it’s like professional wrestling: Don’t take it so seriously, and enjoy the ride.” The club-hopping, music-pumping, cat-fighting, mascara-dripping, mouth-dropping, crystal-worshipping drama of “The Hills” debuted in 2006 as a spin-off of MTV’s popular high school reality docudrama “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.” The series originally documented the journey of bubbly “Laguna Beach” graduate Conrad to Los Angeles. As the show progressed, “The Hills” morphed from a coming-of-age story centering on the budding fashion designer to a splashy soap focusing on a bevy of beautiful people. Andy Dehnart, who has blogged about reality TV for more than 10 years at realityblurred.com, said the series’ lush cinematography and phony authenticity left a lasting impression on the medium. “The legacy of ‘The Hills’ is that it improved the visual language of reality TV while proving that a series could be sustained in an M.C. Escher-like circle where tabloid coverage of the cast members sustained interest in a narrative that largely ignored their real lives, including the intense media coverage that generated interest in the show,” said Dehnart … Throughout its tumultuous six seasons, tabloids and blogs were enamored with the show’s never-ending series of breakups, make-ups and fall-outs, most notably the epic divide between best friends Montag and Conrad, who left “The Hills” in the middle of the fifth season and was replaced by her sassy, raspy “Laguna Beach” adversary Cavallari. The transition from Conrad to Cavallari as the series’ narrator and Montag’s marriage to bad boy Spencer Pratt — the real wedding, not the phony Mexican one — marked the beginning of the end of “The Hills.” Villainous couple Pratt and Montag, who underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures earlier this year, were later phased out of the final season.

It’s amazing to me that a show like The Hills managed to not only define its own section of pop culture but it also managed to create its own mythology that actually took on a life of its own. Despite the fact that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt annoyed the hell out of me for the duration of their time on the show, I was a bit sad that the villainous Speidi were not included at all in last night’s finale. They had a huge hand in how the show turned out (for better or worse) and that could’ve been mentioned at the very least. THO, Spencer Pratt did manage to crash the afterparty last night … he showed up lookin’ crazy and deranged, which is exactly what you would expect from a guy like Spencer Pratt. After the jump, check out a few more photos including a cute cast photo from the party and some disturbing photos of Spencer

THE most idiotic thing I may have ever heard
Stephanie Pratt Loses Friend In Car Accident Before Deciding To Drive Drunk

Yesterday morning we learned that Stephanie Pratt, castmember on MTV‘s The Hills, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the wee hours Sunday after she partied the night away at castmate Holly Montag‘s birthday party at Empire nightclub Saturday night. Today we learn that Stephanie actually gave an interview on Saturday evening before she got the party started. In her interview, she confessed to the reporter that she was “tired” that night because she had been up long hours dealing with some bad news … it turns out that Stephanie lost a friend who died in a car accident the day before — SO NATURALLY she decided to get drunk and get behind the wheel of a car that night:

Stephanie Pratt has taken a detour from The Hills into the drunk tank. The reality TV trainwreck was busted on suspicion of DUI … after a night of partying … Pratt attempted to cement her nonparty-girl status before heading to the club, tweeting: “its my sissy @hollymontags bday party! just finished dinner and going to Empire but im pretty tired aka yes i am the party pooper :(” Ironically, the Daily 10 correspondent echoed the same sentiments when E! News caught up with her last night. “I’m a party pooper tonight,” Pratt said. “I got bad news this morning. A friend passed away in a car accident, so everyone needs to drive safe.” A witness says at around 2 a.m. Pratt, Montag and other partygoers headed over to Beso in Hollywood, where they partied until about 3 a.m. After that the group parted ways and Pratt took off in her own car.

I’m sorry but what a moron! I cannot believe that Stephanie would proselytize ON CAMERA about how people should “drive safe” and then get busted for drunk driving. Unbelievable. After the jump, watch video of Stephanie‘s fatefully ironic interview and read an update on TMZ about the criminal case against her …

The scene of the crime
Holly Montag Celebrates Her Birthday; Stephanie Pratt Gets Loaded, Arrested

Earlier today we learned that Hills star Stephanie Pratt was arrested early this morning on suspicion of driving while under the influence … and now we get to see photos of Stephanie at Hills co-star Holly Montag‘s birthday party just hours before her arrest. Holly celebrated her birthday with friends at Empire nightclub and seemed to be having a great time … behold:

It looks like Holly, Stephanie and newest Hills castmember Stacie Hall were having the time of their lives. Unfortch, it sounds like Stephanie had too much of a good time and thoughtlessly decided to get behind the wheel of a car and put other people’s lives in danger by allegedly drunk driving. In happier non-criminally negligent news, I understand that Holly and Stacie paid a visit to The Parlour on 3rd salon to get all glammed up for the party. At least they have good judgment when it comes to their styling needs. These pics look like the ladies were having fun … it’s a shame that all this fun seems to have led to some piss poor decision making :(

'The Hills' star was popped for drunk driving early this morning
Stephanie Pratt Busted!

In a sad Hollywood tradition that seems to show no sign of slowing down, Stephanie Pratt, castmember of the MTV series The Hills, was arrested here in LA early this morning on suspicion of driving under the influence:

TMZ has learned Stephanie Pratt was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence early this morning in Hollywood. Law enforcement tells us Pratt was busted this morning at 3:45 AM PT in Hollywood. She was taken into custody. Her bail is set at $5,000. Pratt is still in custody. She’s just been booked.

As you may already know, Stephanie was previous arrested on theft charges in her days before she was a castmember on The Hills. I understand that Pratt was in attendance at Holly Montag‘s birthday party at Empire nightclub here in LA last night so my guess is that she got loaded up at the shindig and then decided to put other people’s lives in danger by getting behind the wheel of her car. I have to say, I’m very thankful that police enforcement folks here in SoCal are vigilant about busting drunk drivers … keeping them off the road is vitally important. It’s scary out there :(

The high price of fame
Kristin Cavallari Is Being Paid Handsomely To Star On ‘The Hills’

After filming her first scenes as the new star of MTV‘s reality TV series The Hills last week, Kristin Cavallari continued her work on the show this week as she was seen filming more new scenes for the upcoming season of the show. According to reports, Kristin is being paid upwards of $63,000 per episode to be on the show (only $2,000 less per ep than former star Lauren LC Conrad was being paid … a salary she earned after being on the show for years). Right out of the starting gate (if this report is to be believed), KC is making more money than everyone else on the show next season. Not too shabby for a job that requires her to sit around listening to inane conversation from folks like Stacie the Bartender or requires nights out on the town with other castmember’s ex-boyfriends like Audrina Patridge‘s ex Justin Bobby:

If anyone’s in the market for a new gig, allow us to suggest a career as a reality TV villain. The hours are lousy, but we’ve got a feeling you’re going to enjoy the perks…. In case you were wondering what brought Laguna Beach baddie Kristin Cavallari back to MTV, feast your eyes on this: Life & Style Weekly is reporting that the blonde wannabe actress will earn an astounding $63,000 per episode after signing on to replace archrival Lauren Conrad as the new protagonist on Season 6 of MTV’s The Hills. That’s almost unheard of in the land of unscripted television — and just $2,000 less than $65,000 per episode payday that the network was shelling out for LC. “They needed her,” a production insider says, explaining why Kristin will earn over $1 million for her work this season, solidifying her spot as the highest-paid castmember on The Hills. “They needed someone new and fresh, who also came with a buzz and a name that was recognizable. Kristin was the obvious choice.” According to the source, Kristin used MTV’s desperation to replace Lauren to her advantage during contract negotiations. “She wanted money. You don’t have to pay the other girls that kind of money, but for Kristin you had to pay up.” At least one member of the cast believes the tongue-lashing Kristin’s tenure on The Hills will be worth every penny. “She’s so fun and crazy,” says series star Holly Montag. “Kristin’s not afraid to put anything on camera. She’s not going to hold anything back.”

In my estimation, Kristin Cavallari is worth every penny. It’s very true, The Hills would’ve been dunzo if she hadn’t agreed to join the show in LC‘s place … they did need KC if they really wanted to bring back the show for another season. Last August, In Touch Weekly reported the rumored salaries of the castmembers of The Hills and claimed that LC was making $75,000 per episode. It was later clarified that the salaries they reported were slightly inflated (so I suppose the claim that LC was really making $65,000 is very plausible). Whatever the actual salaries may be, there is no denying the fact that MTV had to pay a pretty penny to get Kristin Cavallari to join the show. I have NO DOUBT that Kristin is gonna bring the delicious entertainment (ie. much needed bitchiness) to the show. Altho she’s been away from the MTV cameras for quite some time, she seems to have slipped back into the swing of things very easily. Lauren Lo Bosworth posted a photo on her official Twitter profile last night with Kristin and Stephanie Pratt partying at a club:

Irregardless of the drama we will see on the show, it looks like The Hills ladies are laughing together all the way to the bank.

Behold, Mr. & Mrs. Spencer Pratt
Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Got Hitched, Again, For Real

Welp … they finally did it. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were finally legally wed in a lavish ceremony in Pasdena, CA yesterday afternoon after a couple of mis-starts for the couple (who, as you may recall, attempted to get married previously but never followed thru legally). Taped for the season (series?) finale of The Hills, Speidi said I Do in front of a select group of family and friends at the Westminster Presbyterian Church:

Heidi Montag is officially Mrs. Spencer Pratt. The Hills stars got married in an early evening ceremony at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday, PEOPLE has confirmed. Montag, 22, and Pratt, 25, exchanged vows before about 200 guests, including Audrina Patridge, Kristin Cavallari, Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado. The bride wore jewels from Neil Lane, including a pear-shaped diamond floral necklace with multiple diamond chains layered over it, diamond earrings and diamond hairpins, which she picked out the day before the nuptials. Pratt borrowed a pair of diamond cufflinks from the jeweler for the big day.

Early Saturday, the couple arrived at the church in a white Rolls Royce Phantom. Before the ceremony, an airplane flew overhead and wrote “Spencer loves Heidi” in the sky. Pratt, looking dapper in a black suit, smiled and signed autographs for fans outside the church. Meanwhile, Montag posted multiple updates on Twitter throughout the day. “This is going to be the best day of my life,” she wrote at one point. “Thank you God for Spencer.” She also described her wedding dress as “amazing – like a swan princess.”

After making multiple statements that she would not be attending the wedding, Lauren LC Conrad ended up attending the nuptials after all … opting to make a small cameo (most likely for the cameras) before making a hasty exit before the ceremony was over. After the jump, read some more deets from the Speidi wedding, check out a couple pics of LC making her exit from the church and find out which of Heidi‘s single lady friends ended up catching her bouquet (PLUS see which bartender lady also attended the Speidi nuptials) …

Here we go again
MTV Releases New Promo Images For ‘The Hills’ Season 5

The Hills are alive … again. With the 5th season of the MTV reality show debuting next Monday night, it’s about time that we got to check out the new cast promo photos for the upcoming new season. As you may be aware (those of you who have seen the season 5 preview trailer once or twice), Lauren LC Conrad and her ex-BFF turned nemesis Heidi Montag are back to being friends again … or something. Hey, the show needs a gimmick to get folks to tune in again, right? Here are a couple brand spanking new promo pics of LC and Heidi together again:

I understand that the promo photos for the past few seasons had to be Photoshopped so that the girls could be in the same frame (since they didn’t want to be photographed together). Now that all of that is water under the bridge, the girls are — once again — happy to be photographed together. Does this mean that all is forgiven? We shall soon find out. After the jump, check out new promo photos of the rest of the cast of The Hills, you know, if you wanna …

'In Touch' breaks, 'Us Weekly' confirms
Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Got Hitched!

In Touch Weekly is reporting today that The Hills villains Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt went and got themselves hitched late last week in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and are quoting Spencer‘s sister Stephanie Pratt as confirmation. According to the mag, Speidi eloped to Mexico last Thursday to be wed in secret … Stephanie says that she isn’t at all surprised:

The Hills’ Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! Stephanie Pratt tells In Touch exclusively, “I am not surprised! I knew they would, and Cabo is definitely where they would do it.” But Spencer’s little sister wants the couple to come back and celebrate here in the States. “I hope they come home, though. Spencer always has said he wants to live there.” Heidi, 22, and Spencer, 25, eloped on November 20 on the beach at the One & Only Palmilla resort just outside of Cabo San Lucas. Congratulations to the happy couple!

I must say, while Stephanie claims that she isn’t surprised I deffo am. Nothing about the way that Speidi handle themselves makes me believe that they would marry in secret. I honestly thought they were saving the big day for a huge TV special or something. Maybe any such TV deals never came to fruition, mebbe the couple were just struck by the impulse to get married and figured, What the hell? Stephanie‘s comments do not deny that the nuptials took place, I would assume that she’d be in the know … her comments about not being surprised seem like pretty good confirmation to me. I suppose we won’t know for sure until the wedding pics make their way to the Internets (and you know the wedding pics are headed for the Internets). In any event, congrats goes out to the happy couple! May Speidi live long and happy lives together as husband and wife. What do y’all think … is this a match made in heaven? If this report turns out to be true, do y’all think it’ll last?

UPDATE: US Weekly is CONFIRMING that Heidi and Spencer DID GET MARRIED. The newlyweds are featured on the cover of this week’s new issue on newsstands Wednesday:

Introducing, Mrs. Heidi Montag Pratt! The Hills star wed her longtime beau, Spencer Pratt, in a secret ceremony in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico, on Nov. 20, Us Weekly reports in its newest issue. See exclusive photos wedding photos in Us Weekly’s new issue, on stands Wednesday. “The minute we said our vows, I couldn’t stop crying,” Montag, 22, tells Us. At the altar, Pratt, 25, told his bride: “Heidi, from the moment you came into my life, I knew my life would never be the same without you. You are the light in my life like the sun to the earth! Your loving warmth makes me want to be a better person. Being with you, I feel complete. I’m honored to even be able to call you my wife. You are the most amazing, loving and caring woman on this planet. I will love you forever and always.” Someone who might not be so thrilled? Montag’s mother. “I called her right before the ceremony, sort of hinted that something that happened, but her reaction was to ask me if we were breaking up! I told her it might be something else, and she said, ‘Well, if you ever plan on getting married just know that your stepdad is really upset that you want your father to walk you down the aisle,’” Montag tells Us. “She was starting so much drama, it kind of pushed me toward wanting to get married without that,” she adds. “I don’t know when I’ll tell her.”

Wow … those are some vows, Spencer! Who knew he could be so sweet? This issue of US Weekly is showing up in the mailboxes of subscribers today and will hit newsstands on Wednesday. Make sure to pick up a copy to see all the pics and read all the deets of this fairytale wedding.

Drama comes at a high price ... but not equally
Who Is Making The Most Money On ‘The Hills’

The site Popcrunch has published some interesting information about the current cast of MTV‘s hit reality drama The Hills. They claim to know the salaries paid out to the season four castmembers (information gleaned from In Touch Weekly, I might add) and I think you’ll find these numbers very interesting … you’re never gonna guess how much it costs for us to get our weekly fill of Hills drama, y’all:

How much does MTV pay the stars of its smash unscripted series The Hills? Lauren Conrad earns $75,000 per episode-and that’s a fact that has left some of her series co-stars seething, a new In Touch Weekly scoop claims. “The only reason LC gets paid more than anyone else is because she demanded in her original contract that no one could ever get paid more than her.” “The salaries are based on who people care about watching more,” says a mole. “If you bring drama, you’ll get more money.” Fashion forward LC is expected to earn $1.4 million for the complete fourth season of The Hills. Let’s see how much her castmates earn.

Heidi Montag: $65,000 per episode ($1.25 million per year)
Spencer Pratt: $65,000 per episode ($1.25 million per year)
Audrina: $35,000 per episode ($665,000 annually)
Whitney: $20,000 per episode ($380,000 per season)
Brody: $10,000 per episode ($190,000 a year)
Lauren “Lo”: $10,000 per episode ($190,00 for The Hills Season 4)
Stephanie: $8,000 per episode ($152,00 for Season 4)
Frankie: $0

HMMM … the numbers make sense, as does the idea that castmembers that bring the drama get paid better, after all — it’s all about the ratings, baby. While I don’t necessarily believe that these numbers are totally correct (these sorts of leaks are never exactly right), I do believe that the numbers are proportionally correct. That said … poor Frankie. Why does the Latinoid have to be the one to get screwed? What do y’all think, are these folks worth this money?

Jazzy Is The New Pink

Woot! We are well into Day 2 of the Pink is the new Blog relaunch and things have been coming along so smoothly I can barely believe it. I am so happy with the way the site looks and has been functioning. Thanks to a few comments from readers, little tweaks and changes have already been implemented. I still have a bit of a learning curve to get over as I work with Word Press but I’m sure I’ll get into the swing of things in no time. David has been amazing about helping me with every little question I have. I thank the Gods that he’s been here with me this week.

So, Jamalia David, who goes by and will henceforth be referred to as Jazzy, was the lucky winner in the Pink is the new Blog Relaunch Party contest (sponsored by Nestea and Nikon COOLPIX) … she took a bunch of great pics on her new Nikon COOLPIX camera and has already blogged about her experience here in LA and at my party Wednesday night. Head on over to PinkVIPblogger.com to check out the page where her blogpost will be uploaded some time today. Here are a few of Jazzy‘s fun party pics:

Additionally … I have a couple pics of some of the Pink readers who came out to my party as well as a bunch of kickass professional photos (courtesy of Wireimage) from the party …
