Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Return To LA In Shame — But Not Really

"Quitters never win and a winner never quits!" -- UPDATE
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

After making good on their threat to quit the NBC competitive reality TV show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! due to living conditions that did not meet their needs, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt returned to SoCal from the jungles of Costa Rica last night and DID NOT want to be photographed for a change. The couple made their way thur LAX Airport arrivals wearing black sheets, covering them from head to toe … behold:

Clearly, NBC wants nothing more to do with Speidi and is NOT interested in having them back on the show. TMZ is reporting that NBC contacted Audrina Patridge to take Heidi’s place on the show and she responded with a resounding Hell NO! He response:

“Not in a million years. Audrina is moving in a completely different direction than those two … she’s a star.”

Additionally, TMZ is also reporting that NBC contacted Brody Jenner to take Spencer’s place on the show, his response to the offer was similar to Audrina’s response:

“No … Brody’s not that hungry for bugs or camera time.”

Clearly, Speidi are regretting their decision to quit the show … Spencer has been tweeting on his official Twitter profile all night long begging NBC to take him and Heidi back — he’s also begging others to beg NBC for him. Here are a few of his tweets:

@mileycyrus I hope you saw my shout out to you on tonights episode of “I’m a celebrity get me out of here” Pray NBC let’s Speidi back on!

The devil fooled speidi in to making an awful decision and we are praying to Jesus to get NBC to give us another shot to redeem

say a prayer that NBC let’s us go back on and eat more disgusting things! Heidi ate a rats tail and three scorpions?

@mileycyrus God Bless you!!! Were Praying to Jesus that NBC forgives us for being quitters! Quitters never win and a winner never quits!

It seems obvs that dignity has gone completely out the window. My guess is that Speidi never really wanted to quit the show … they prolly wanted to throw a diva tantrum and eventually get back on the show and prove everyone wrong that believed they couldn’t hack it in the jungle. My guess is that they miscalculated NBC’s response and didn’t count on not getting back on the show. Whatever the case may be … they quit, NBC don’t want them back and now they’ve got egg on their faces (underneath those black sheets). I suppose it’s too much to hope for that Speidi will live the rest of their existence underneath those black sheets … so we should prolly enjoy it while we can.

UPDATE: I knew it was too good to be true. TMZ is now reporting that Speidi are still in Costa Rica and the couple photographed at LAX above are fakes … which, to be honest, wouldn’t surprise me in the least. Additionally, says TMZ, Spencer is responding to Audrina’s refusal to join the show — calling her a “ho”. So, I guess, they are still trying to get back on the show … which very well could happen (considering how much attention their antics are getting). As marginally entertaining as all of his ridiculousness is, I do feel sorry for the charities that are associated with Speidi’s antics.

UPDATE 2: Reps for Speidi are now saying that the couple are still in Costa Rica, are still on the show and that their siblings were the ones under the black sheets at LAX Airport last night:

Heidi and Spencer Pratt are remaining on NBC reality show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! after all, Usmagazine.com has confirmed. “Heidi and Spencer are still in the jungle and part of the show,” their rep told Us Wednesday morning. Us can also exclusively report that Spencer’s sister Stephanie and his friend Spenser (yes, there’s another one, only spelled with an ’s’) were the people under the blankets at L.A.’s LAX airport Tuesday night. They were simply used as decoy to throw people off and give the illusion that Spencer and Heidi had returned to L.A., says a source.

So … if they are still on the show, how was Spencer able to use Twitter last night? Do they have cell phone towers in the jungle? Are cellphones even allowed on the show? What a joke! But really … should we expect anything but this sort of thing from Speidi?

Speidi Quit ‘I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!’

If you can't take the heat, get out of the jungle
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Yesterday we learned the sad news that newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have not been adjusting to life in the Costa Rican jungle very well and have threatened NBC that they would quit the competitive reality TV show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! if conditions did not improve for them. The first ep of the show aired last night and, as you might expect, Speidi turned on their usual charm. Well, it looks like the couple just couldn’t handle the rigors of surviving in the jungle cuz TMZ is reporting that the duo have made good on their threat and have quit the show. They’re dunzo, y’all!

Heidi and Spencer have followed through on their threat — they have quit the NBC reality show “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” A source close to production tells TMZ the “Hills” duo walked off the set for good after the live portion of last night’s show. It is unclear how the show will handle their leaving on tonight’s episode. Guess they weren’t faking … for a change.

LMAO!! I, too, thought they were faking the tears at the onset to try and curry the favor of the viewing audience … but I guess they just didn’t have the fortitude to endure the competition. From what I understand, they were not very much liked by the rest of the cast … I doubt anyone will be sorry to see them go. I’m actually a bit surprised, tho … I thought all that tough talk would manifest itself in some way. I guess you can add the title of Quitters to the long list of names to call Speidi.

Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Want Out Of ‘I’m A Celebrity . . .’

Ain't cut out for life in the jungle
Monday, June 1st, 2009

Apparently newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt aren’t cut out to make it as survivalists which, to tell the honest truth, doesn’t particularly surprise me in the least. E! News is reporting that Speidi are not handling life in the jungle on the NBC competitive reality TV show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! which is currently in production in the jungles of Costa Rica. According to E!, the couple were dealt the harsh reality that they would not be catered to in the style of which they’ve become accustomed and threatened NBC that they would quit if they weren’t treated better. Yeah, that sounds about right:

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag may or may not believe they are celebrities, but they definitely want out. The duo tried to quit NBC’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! the very first day they arrived in Costa Rica to shoot the “C-Listers in distress” reality show, which premieres Monday. “They wanted to be treated like stars,” a high-level source on the series tells E! News’ Ryan Seacrest. “[Spencer] literally thought he and Heidi were staying in a Four Seasons, working out and getting a tan.” The two refused to eat the same food as the rest of the cast, and complained about being teamed with low-wattage stars, among them former model/reality show queen Janice Dickinson, actors Stephen Baldwin and Lou Diamond Phillips, former NBA star John Salley and American Idol castoff Sanjaya Malakar. An NBC exec had to coax the newlyweds to remain on board. “I wish they got some real celebrities like K-Fed,” groused Montag, per the network insider. We can just imagine the producers are thinking the same thing.

Hahahaha … while I tend to believe that some of this nonsense is just good PR for the show, I bet there is some bit of truth in the report. Neither Heidi or Spencer (despite his harsh demeanor) strike me as survivalists — at all. That said, I figured the couple would fight tooth and nail to come out on top if only because of their overriding thirst for world domination. I guess they aren’t made of the mettle that their egos would have them believe. It should be noted that the couple threatened to quit and didn’t actually quit … it remains to seen how long Speidi will be able to survive in the jungles of Costa Rica … but my guess is that they won’t last much longer.

These Are Celebrities? Get Out Of Here!

The new Reality TV show that pits Z-lister against Z-lister
Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Yesterday we got our first look at the new promo video for the new NBC competitive Reality TV program I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here which features, among others, newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt competing in a Survivor-like setting for the titled of King and Queen of the Jungle. Today we get to see promo pics of all of the “celebs” who have been cast on the show in preparation for the series launch. Check out the new cast of I’m A Celebrity and see if YOU can pick out a fave to win:

From the press release: It’s the ultimate Swiss Family Robinson as ten celebrities are dropped into the heart of the jungle to face fun and comedic challenges designed to test their survival skills. America is the puppet master, controlling their favorite celebrities by putting them into challenges and tasks to win food, supplies and luxury items. In each episode, friendships will be tested, hilarity will ensue and viewers will decide which celebrities stay or go. The last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning a substantial cash prize for their favorite charity. America has never seen a show like this before. Television has never been programmed like this before. Don’t miss a minute of this ultimate three-week event. In a unique scheduling move, “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” will air at 8 p.m. over four weeks in June. The new series will debut as a two-hour television event on Monday, June 1 (8-10 p.m. ET) and will follow with broadcasts on Mondays through Thursdays (8-9 p.m. ET) for the first three weeks. During the fourth week of June, the series will be telecast Monday through Wednesday (8-9 p.m. ET) with the finale on Wednesday, June 24 (8-9 p.m. ET).

While I think this is a *genius* idea for an entertaining Reality TV show (one that has already proven successful in the UK), I really wish they would’ve spent a little bit more time finding more well-known contestants. I only know who John Salley is because he is a former Detroit Pistons basketball player. I have no idea who Torri Wilson is (tho, a quick Google search enlightens that she is a WWE wrestler). I understand that the celeb contestants are subjected to challenges that are unpleasant and sometimes gross … that might be worth tuning in to see in and of itself. I think I’ll give this series a chance … I don’t know that I’ll be rooting for anyone in particular to win but I’m curious to see how these folks stand up to the rigors of competition. What do y’all think … will YOU be tuning in?

Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Get Thrown Out Of An Airplane

Don't get excited, it's not what you think
Friday, May 15th, 2009

Newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have joined the cast of the new competitive Reality TV series on NBC titled I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! (think Celebrity Survivor) and in a new promo video for the show, Speidi (along with their fellow celebrity contestants) get thrown out of an airplane and are seen “hurtling” to the ground:

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) the couple were only pretending to be falling to their doom. Starting June 1 on NBC, Speidi will face contestants like Janice Dickinson, Sanjaya from American Idol, John Salley (ex-Detroit Pistons basketball player) and more in a month-long LIVE reality survival battle to be named King and Queen of the Jungle … or some such nonsense. This series has been imported from the UK where the show has been a marginal hit. After the jump, check out this new promo video and watch Speidi and co. “plummet” in front of a CGI green screen …

Spencer Pratt Talks To ‘Complex’ Magazine About His Rap Career

"I think I’m the future of hip-hop."
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Spencer Pratt, who dropped his first rap track titled I’m A Celebrity earlier this week on the KIIS FM radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest, gave an interview to Complex magazine about his foray into rap … among other scintillating topics of discussion (ranging from Twitter to Brody Jenner’s lack of street cred). Here is Spencer’s full interview with Complex — trust me, it’s an interesting read:

When it comes to reality TV, there’s no bigger rabble-rouser than Spencer Pratt. Fully embracing his role as The Hills P.E. #1, Pratt has parlayed his notoriety into becoming a tabloid staple. Although Complex has never been into the gossip-game, we were kinda psyched when we heard SP (The Ghost) was getting into rapping and—it’s Spencer, after all—throwing some of your favorite artists under the bus. (Sorry, Asher.) Never one to stir the pot (ah ha!), we spoke to Spencer while he was on his way to shoot guns with wifey Heidi—good practice for an aspiring MC. Read on to see how he and his wifey Heidi plan to outdo Jay-Z and Beyoncé, why Roth doesn’t stand a chance against him, and how Brody as a hypeman would damage his street cred…

Complex: What’s going on man, how are things?

Spencer Pratt: The usual, just another amazing day in my life. On the way to the gun range with my wife, ready to go fire off some hollow points out of the 19…

Complex: Ha, OK. So you made headlines yesterday talking about Asher Roth, saying he lacks swag. If you had to battle Asher Roth, what would you use against him?

Spencer Pratt: I mean, the fact that I’m so paid, and he’s broke [laughs]. Simple as that. That’s my whole point, being that I’m fly with tons of money, and he doesn’t have that yet. I’m sure he’ll have a lot more swag in three years if he keeps selling.

Complex: You also said, “I’m like the white Jay-Z.” Would you consider Heidi the white Beyoncé?

Spencer Pratt: A little bit more than the white Beyoncé. Beyoncé had to be built by a group like Destiny’s Child, but Heidi shines solo. I’ll actually give you an exclusive: I could guarantee you Speidi’s [Spencer and Heidi's] “Bonnie & Clyde” version is going to stunt on Jay and B’s version.

Complex: Wow. Is that song going to happen?

Spencer Pratt: Yes. Steve Morales is already working on the track. That’s my Puerto Rican guru on the beat.

Complex: I saw that you’re trying to reach out to OJ Da Juiceman for him to get a verse on a Morales-produced track.

Spencer Pratt: Yeah, I’m trying to get him on my first real single because “I’m A Celebrity” is not my single. That’s just my marketing tool for the show. My first single, I just want to have me, Gucci Mane, and OJ Da Juiceman. It’ll be the flyest song in the game. I’m going to track them down, that’s my priority today.

Complex: Who’s rapping career would you use as a blueprint for yourself?

Spencer Pratt: I think I’m the future of hip-hop. You know, I feel bad for saying that. That’s unfortunate, but that’s a fact. You can’t compare my model of hip-hop with what I’m about to come out with versus anything in the game. You know I’ll take the Diddy route. I’m not a lyrical MC, I’m just like Diddy. Look what it did for him? He is still balling.

Complex: I know you said that you’re trying to infiltrate the ringtone game…

Spencer Pratt: Yeah. People are not even going to have time to listen to radio in their cars because they are going to be talking on their phones or twittering, or BBM’ing. So I feel like the only time people are going to hear music is when your phone rings, so that’s the whole market I’m going after. I don’t care about the clubs, I don’t care about the radio, all I care about is getting my digital downloads like Soulja Boy.

Complex: There’s a lot of money to be made in that…

Spencer Pratt: I think it’s only going to multiply in the next ten years. There are more people with cell phones in the world than any other thing on the planet. There are billions of cell phones. There’s not not billions of radios.

Complex: Now, Jay-Z had Memphis Bleek has a hypeman. Would Brody Jenner be your hypeman?

Spencer Pratt: Nah. A person who has a show called Bromance can’t be in on this clique.

Complex: You think that would hurt street cred?

Spencer Pratt: The Bromance show definitely hurts my street cred, so I’ll definitely distance myself from Brody as a hypeman. I’ll be pretty much be the first rapper/hypeman. I would take on both roles. I would wear both shoes. I’ll hype myself before I start rapping. I’ll get on the mic and be like, “Who is hotter than me in the game? No one.”

Complex: Interesting…

Spencer Pratt: The bottom line is, if every single platinum song right now wasn’t auto-tuned, then I would be like, “I can’t be a rapper.” The fact that I could get up to perfect pitch just like Kanye West now, and T-Pain, it’s an even playing field. I don’t have to have talent. I just need to have auto-tune and be allowed to have the hottest track in the game, and my swag.

Complex: Obviously you twitter a lot. Which rapper do you think has the most interesting tweets?

Spencer Pratt: I would say Diddy is the most interesting Twitter-er. I definitely will follow the hip-hop circle now that I have infiltrated the game, just so that I can be aware of my rivals and what my competitors are doing. But, I’m not really interested in anybody, that’s why I started rapping. I’m still a fan of Tupac. That’s the only rapper that I’m still like, “Oh! Tupac!” Besides Gucci, and Juiceman, I’m not really excited about anybody in the game. I just love Gucci and Juice because they just have too much swag that they don’t know what to do with themselves.

Complex: Now obviously, in the previous episode of The Hills, you kind of Kufi smacked your sister’s ex-boyfriend, Cameron. Are you prepared in case someone comes at you sideways?

Spencer Pratt: I mean, I’ve been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu all my life. Boxing, kickboxing, you know. I’m definitely not a fighter, but I defend my honor.

Clearly Spencer Pratt has a very high opinion of himself and is his #1 fan. Whether you hate him or love to hate him you have to admit that he’s got the right kind of attitude to make it in Hollywood these days. Whether he has the stamina or the balls to carry on this swagger is another thing altogether. You have to take his comments with tongue very firmly in cheek … there is no way he can seriously believe that he is the future of Hip-Hop. But as long as he says things like this, he’s gonna get noticed … it’s pretty genius. The fact that Speidi has managed to extend their 15 minutes of fame this long is pretty impressive. Again, it’s really all about attitude. He’s got enough of it to stay on people’s radar. He just has to watch what he says so he doesn’t get shot down … figuratively, of course. Good luck with that rap career, bro. That’s a pretty serious game you’re trying to infiltrate.
