… and by “fun” I mean girl-why-can’t-you-brush-your-teeth-INSIDE-and-spit-out-of-view-of-the-paps? Well, at least now we know she ain’t a swallower.

She has an “angel” of a boyfriend, Dutch bass player Martyn Lenoble, “who loves me from head to toe.” She has a cozy Malibu beach house that she calls “the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.” And, after a very public battle with breast cancer that has given her a gratifying “feeling of purpose,” Christina Applegate has a new lease on life. “I used to be really shy but I started to come into my own in my late 20s and early 30s,” Applegate, 37, tells PEOPLE in the cover interview for the annual Most Beautiful issue – her first interview since her reconstructive breast surgery last November. “Now I’m not afraid to speak up in a room full of people and be a part of the conversation.” The Samantha Who? star says she’s finding balance and embracing her body after undergoing a double mastectomy in July. “You have to get through the physical transformations then buck up, go to work and try to be the normal, happy Christina for everyone around you,” she says. One source of strength has been Lenoble. “He’s been a friend for about 13 years,” Applegate says. “Our relationship gets stronger and stronger. I’m really lucky.” And, more importantly, he makes the actress feel “beautiful” about her new body. “I’m very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he’s been my rock through all of this,” Applegate says. “He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about.”

Considering the life-changing effect that enduring a double mastectomy has on a woman, I am very impressed with Christina’s attitude about her beauty (which is on full display in this issue of People magazine). I, for the life of me, cannot imagine what it must be like to survive a bout with cancer so my hat is off to her in that respect. I suppose congrats are in order for being named by People magazine as one of the 100 Most Beautiful People. But, there are 99 other folks who have been deemed beautiful by People — after the jump, check out a few of those pretty faces …

There is no denying that each one of these people is beautiful but I gotta question the selection choice of some of these photos. The 90210 girls were photographed without make-up (on purpose) but the photo is set in the harsh beach sun which makes each of the young girls look haggard. Also, I think the mag could’ve selected better photos of Robert Pattinson and Michelle Obama. Each one of them is incredibly beautiful and, yet, these photos in my opinion do not showcase their beauty at all. I do love the photo of Kristen Wiig and, of course, Tristan Wilds and Zac Efron both look supercute. I know the People magazine list of the 100 Most Beautiful People is meant to be fun and I think they generally get it right … but what do you think? I managed to avoid running into Pug Dilton but I did get to chat with Nicole Richie for a bit. Her bump is getting so big! It looks much bigger in person than it does in pictures. Mark Ronson killed it on stage and Johnny and I had a blast.

But our night was over yet … after the Ronson event, we made our way to Fubar to get our drink on … and boy, did we ever. I haven’t gotten that loaded in a very long time … I mean, it was fun at the time but UGH I’m so paying for it now. I had plans to go with Darion and Kirsten to Disneyland today but, alas, the trip got scrapped cuz of my near deathness. We’re gonna try and do dinner and a movie later. Blah, we’ll see.

I shudder to think how many bottles of fake tanner she went thru just to get her exposed skin to this shade of orange. I don’t know if that yellow cardigan is doing her any favors but props to the 90210 lighting director who is able to turn this richly colored young starlet a semi-normal shade of human each week on the show. Shenae, doll … less is more.

“We’re not in Kansas anymore.” A famous quote that serves not only as the pilot episode title of the
new series 90210 but also echoes the show’s overarching theme of the Wilson family’s move from Wichita to Beverly Hills and the coming-of-age life lessons experienced by the kids of West Beverly High School. She may not be from the Midwest but Canadian actress Shenae Grimes can certainly relate to the sentiment. After being cast as 90210’s central character Annie Wilson, Grimes has been strapped into the Hollywood rollercoaster of fickle fans, critics, parties, red carpets, press and paparazzi, a ride that would put a strain on any fresh-faced 18-year-old. On a day off from her grueling shooting schedule, Grimes joined us at the beautiful Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive (yes, it’s in 90210) to give us an insight into what it’s like to be on one of the most-talked about shows on television.

And so begins the career of a Hollywood “It” Girl. Much like Shannen Doherty before her, Shenae seems to have been plucked from obscurity (even tho both actresses were working on other shows before they hit it big on 90210) and the media seems keen on bestowing the tiara and sash of Brenda Walshness upon young Miss Grimes. Generally, I like the pics but a couple of them are a bit overdone, I think. She’s a cutie and she deffo has the look to have a career in Hollywood … depending on how big 90210 gets, she might be in for the long haul. Or, you know, the show may end prematurely and she made fade into nothingness. It sounds like she is really enjoying the ride while she can … which is very smart. ANNIE AND TY DECIDE TO SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER — As opening night of “Spring Awakening” nears, Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Ty (guest star Adam Gregory) have had a chance to spend a lot of time together and Ty reveals his plans for a one-on-one after-party in his hotel room. Harry (Rob Estes) catches Annie and Ty kissing backstage and later he and Debbie (Lori Loughlin) express their concern for how fast Annie’s relationship is progressing. Silver (Jessica Stroup) is overwhelmed with stage managing the play so Dixon (Tristan Wilds) offers to help backstage, prompting the two to get close. Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) refuses to accept her parents’ divorce and is determined to get them back on track. Brenda (guest star Shannen Doherty), Kelly (guest star Jennie Garth) and Ryan (Ryan Eggold) confront Adrianna (guest star Jessica Lowndes) about an obvious substance abuse problem, giving Annie the chance to take the lead in the play. Jessica Walter, Dustin Milligan and Michael Steger also star. Paul Lazarus directed the episode written by Sean Reycraft (#105).

I totally love that they are doing Spring Awakening as their high school musical … tho, I doubt they’re gonna bust out the nude scenes that are featured in the actual Broadway production. If I recall, Brenda performed fully nekkid or chickened out of performing in the nude (I can’t recall which it was) in a play back on Beverly Hills, 90210 during the college years … I hope this isn’t merely an issue of plotline recycling cuz … that’d be bad, no? In any event, I’m really looking forward to this week’s new ep. I believe it is the last one that Shannen Doherty filmed for 90210 (she only committed to appearing in 4 eps thus far) so it may be some time until we get to see Brenda Walsh on the small screen. What a great time to bring back Donna Martin (Tori Spelling), don’tchathink?

Shannen Doherty ain’t look all that hot in the unforgiving SoCal sun … actually, only Lori Loughlin looks like she’s ready for the cameras (little whipper-snappers AnnaLynne McCord and Shanae Grimes need to step up their respective games, yo). Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth joined the cast of CW’s 90210 spin-off Saturday at a beachside bash to celebrate the show. The party took place on the Malibu shore – about 20 miles away from the Beverly Hills zip code, the AP reports. Doherty and Garth, who will reprise their roles as Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor in the new show, arrived separately. Joe E. Tata, who played Peach Pit owner Nat, also attended. Party guests expecting to get a glimpse of the show’s first episode were out of luck: The premiere was not screened. (The CW recently announced pre-broadcast copies of the series would not be distributed to TV reviewers and reporters as a “strategic marketing decision.”) Meanwhile, Garth recently said reuniting with Doherty (with whom she once got into a fistfight) wasn’t “as bad as I thought it would be. We’re both grown women, both professionals,” she told TV Guide. “Once we were working, it felt like a good fit.”

Tori Spelling, who continues to get the shaft from the new 90210 was, obvs, not in attendance at last night’s affair. Again, I’m excited at the prospect of the new show but I fear that expectations may be too high. I understand why the show’s producers are keeping the first ep under wraps until the series premieres next week but … I dunno, can it really live up to the hype? There are a lot of fond memories about the original show … I dunno if anything can really measure up.

The “It” Girls were in attendance as were the new kids on the block — members of the cast of 90210 made last night’s Teen Choice Awards their unofficial coming out party to hang with the cool kids. There are a whole slew of pics to check out from last night’s fête. Oh, Mariah … you are so cute thinkin’ you can dress like a teen at your age ;) I’m not at all surprised that Mimi deigned to not only attend this year’s Teen Choice Awards but to perform as well … especially when you consider that she met her child-husband, Nick Cannon, at the Teen Choice Awards back in 2005. But the night was really about this year’s winners so here are a few pics of some of the folks who took home Teen Choice Surfboards last night:

The Jonas Brothers and the CW hit Gossip Girl were the big winners at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards. Both took home six awards each. Gossip Girl was honored for choice TV drama, breakout show, breakout male actor (Chace Crawford), breakout female and TV drama actress (Blake Lively) and TV villain (Ed Westwick). The Jonas Brothers won for choice breakout group, love song, music single, song of the summer, male red carpet fashion icons and male hotties. “Last year we were here presenting, and to be back a year later and to be up for seven awards, that’s really, really crazy!” Nick Jonas told Usmagazine.com. “We are so blessed, and our fans are incredible, and we love it.” Miley Cyrus — who scored three awards — hosted the show, which airs tonight at 8 p.m. (ET) on Fox. Lauren Conrad won choice TV female reality star. “It’s really cool,” she told Us. “It came from people who watch you every week and relate to you.” She told Us she’ll keep her award “with my mom in Laguna. She has a room for them.” Heroes star Hayden Panettiere was honored as choice TV action-adventure actress and David Beckham as choice male athlete. His son Cruz stole the show, however, when he started break dancing on stage after his dad accepted his award. David said he didn’t teach his son those moves. “He went on tour for six months with his mom,” he told Us, “so maybe he learned from her!”

And speaking of the little ham, here are a couple pics of Becks on stage accepting his award and his sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz who he brought on stage with him … natch, Cruz had to upstage his older brothers by throwin’ down some bitchin’ dance moves:

I dunno … those elder Beckham boys better learn tricks or something cuz the little one is really lookin’ to usurp and take over the Beckham empire.

Okay … can I get a big WTF? is going on with the pic of Tristan Wilds, the sole African-American cast member (who plays Dixon Mills) on the show … do you think they told him to pose like that? Cuz, the first thing I thought of when I saw this pic was the signature fingerpoint pose made famous by Isaac the Bartender, the sole African-American castmember on The Love Boat. Please tell me this wasn’t intentional!

I’m not entirely sure which characters are sleeping with which but I’m sure all will be revealed very soon. It’s a pretty good looking cast … let’s see if they’re able to live up to the caliber of the original cast of kiddies from 90210.
