Earlier this month we learned that our dear Britney Spears would be taking a night off from her furious rehearsals for the upcoming Femme Fatale Tour (due to kick off in just a few weeks) to host an event called An Evening of Southern Style to benefit the St. Bernard Project which continues to help Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Britney looked ABSOLUTELY STUNNING at last night’s event and she was joined by her loverman Jason Trawick as well as a host of other celebs who showed up to offer their support. It is time again for People magazine to release their annual 100 Most Beautiful People issue and this year they have selected actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate to grace the cover of the issue. Christina herself credits her man Martyn Lenoble for her beauty and talks about how his love for her is what makes her beauty shine. Here is the cover of the 100 Most Beautiful People issue of People magazine and a short piece on Christina‘s beauty:

She has an “angel” of a boyfriend, Dutch bass player Martyn Lenoble, “who loves me from head to toe.” She has a cozy Malibu beach house that she calls “the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.” And, after a very public battle with breast cancer that has given her a gratifying “feeling of purpose,” Christina Applegate has a new lease on life. “I used to be really shy but I started to come into my own in my late 20s and early 30s,” Applegate, 37, tells PEOPLE in the cover interview for the annual Most Beautiful issue – her first interview since her reconstructive breast surgery last November. “Now I’m not afraid to speak up in a room full of people and be a part of the conversation.” The Samantha Who? star says she’s finding balance and embracing her body after undergoing a double mastectomy in July. “You have to get through the physical transformations then buck up, go to work and try to be the normal, happy Christina for everyone around you,” she says. One source of strength has been Lenoble. “He’s been a friend for about 13 years,” Applegate says. “Our relationship gets stronger and stronger. I’m really lucky.” And, more importantly, he makes the actress feel “beautiful” about her new body. “I’m very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he’s been my rock through all of this,” Applegate says. “He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about.”

Considering the life-changing effect that enduring a double mastectomy has on a woman, I am very impressed with Christina’s attitude about her beauty (which is on full display in this issue of People magazine). I, for the life of me, cannot imagine what it must be like to survive a bout with cancer so my hat is off to her in that respect. I suppose congrats are in order for being named by People magazine as one of the 100 Most Beautiful People. Blaurgh. Last night was a lot of fun and I’m still paying for it this afternoon. I swear, I’m never drinking again … ever. But fun was had last night … for sure. After I dropped off David at the airport, I met up with my friend Johnny for a quick cameo at a TMZ party at Red Rocks on Sunset. I really love the TMZ crew … they are the coolest bunch of people and it’s always a good time seeing them out in social situations. Because they all work so hard (pretty much 24/7), it’s rare to see them socially but when there is a TMZ party, it’s deffo a party. After spending some time there, Johnny and I made our way to Bar Marmont at the Chateau Marmont to attend the I Heart Ronson party to celebrate Charlotte Ronson‘s new clothing line for JC Penney. Mark Ronson and the Version Players provided the live music and Samatha Ronson provided the party tunes after … it was a really fun event:

I managed to avoid running into Pug Dilton but I did get to chat with Nicole Richie for a bit. Her bump is getting so big! It looks much bigger in person than it does in pictures. Mark Ronson killed it on stage and Johnny and I had a blast.

But our night was over yet … after the Ronson event, we made our way to Fubar to get our drink on … and boy, did we ever. I haven’t gotten that loaded in a very long time … I mean, it was fun at the time but UGH I’m so paying for it now. I had plans to go with Darion and Kirsten to Disneyland today but, alas, the trip got scrapped cuz of my near deathness. We’re gonna try and do dinner and a movie later. Blah, we’ll see.

90210 star Shenae Grimes was all smiles backstage on the SoCal set of her show yesterday afternoon throwing out waves and smiles to the assembled photogs who were in attendance. Clearly no one mentioned to Ms. Grimes that it is not necessary to use an entire bottle of fake suntan lotion just to color one’s face:

I shudder to think how many bottles of fake tanner she went thru just to get her exposed skin to this shade of orange. I don’t know if that yellow cardigan is doing her any favors but props to the 90210 lighting director who is able to turn this richly colored young starlet a semi-normal shade of human each week on the show. Shenae, doll … less is more.

90210 star Shenae Grimes is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Saturday Night magazine. Heralded as the “new Brenda“, Shenae stands alone on a magazine cover of her very own … behold:

“We’re not in Kansas anymore.” A famous quote that serves not only as the pilot episode title of the
new series 90210 but also echoes the show’s overarching theme of the Wilson family’s move from Wichita to Beverly Hills and the coming-of-age life lessons experienced by the kids of West Beverly High School. She may not be from the Midwest but Canadian actress Shenae Grimes can certainly relate to the sentiment. After being cast as 90210’s central character Annie Wilson, Grimes has been strapped into the Hollywood rollercoaster of fickle fans, critics, parties, red carpets, press and paparazzi, a ride that would put a strain on any fresh-faced 18-year-old. On a day off from her grueling shooting schedule, Grimes joined us at the beautiful Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive (yes, it’s in 90210) to give us an insight into what it’s like to be on one of the most-talked about shows on television.

And so begins the career of a Hollywood “It” Girl. Much like Shannen Doherty before her, Shenae seems to have been plucked from obscurity (even tho both actresses were working on other shows before they hit it big on 90210) and the media seems keen on bestowing the tiara and sash of Brenda Walshness upon young Miss Grimes. Shannen Doherty ain’t look all that hot in the unforgiving SoCal sun … actually, only Lori Loughlin looks like she’s ready for the cameras (little whipper-snappers AnnaLynne McCord and Shanae Grimes need to step up their respective games, yo). Beverly Hills, 90210 alums Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth joined the new crop of 90210 kids at a premiere event in Malibu, CA for the new CW spin-off which is set to debut on 09.02. It’s almost time y’all … we’re just days away from finding out if the new 90210 can live up to the hype and expectation of the stunning success of its predecessor … but for now, it’s just time to party. Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet event last night:

Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth joined the cast of CW’s 90210 spin-off Saturday at a beachside bash to celebrate the show. The party took place on the Malibu shore – about 20 miles away from the Beverly Hills zip code, the AP reports. Doherty and Garth, who will reprise their roles as Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor in the new show, arrived separately. Joe E. Tata, who played Peach Pit owner Nat, also attended. Party guests expecting to get a glimpse of the show’s first episode were out of luck: The premiere was not screened. (The CW recently announced pre-broadcast copies of the series would not be distributed to TV reviewers and reporters as a “strategic marketing decision.”) Meanwhile, Garth recently said reuniting with Doherty (with whom she once got into a fistfight) wasn’t “as bad as I thought it would be. We’re both grown women, both professionals,” she told TV Guide. “Once we were working, it felt like a good fit.”

Tori Spelling, who continues to get the shaft from the new 90210 was, obvs, not in attendance at last night’s affair. Again, I’m excited at the prospect of the new show but I fear that expectations may be too high. I understand why the show’s producers are keeping the first ep under wraps until the series premieres next week but … I dunno, can it really live up to the hype? There are a lot of fond memories about the original show … I dunno if anything can really measure up.

Last night the 2008 Teen Choice Awards infiltrated and took over the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City in Hollywood, CA in order to honor the previous year’s stellar achievements in categories which include music, movies, sports and TV, as voted on by teens aged 13-19. As usual, all the hottest young stars came out for the event … here are a few of the folks who walked the red carpet last night:
