Mario Party

Yesterday was Day 2 of this year’s EPIC 3-day Hallowe’en weekend and David and I spent the whole day with our BFF Darion. As you can see from the following photo, I was dressed up as Super Mario all day long:

And David was dressed up as Luigi:

And in costume, we made our way to the movies to see SAW 3D:

Speaking of SAW 3D, I have to say … it was pretty good. While the film’s storyline wasn’t the best (I mean — that fact, you prolly already knew), I have to say that seeing the death scenes in 3D was pretty rad. We all enjoyed the film very much:

It was very disconcerting to have the traps come out of the screen and into your face as if YOU were the one being tortured in the film. The SAW movies have been pretty much the same cringe-worthy fare for years but adding the 3D element and putting the viewer in the hot seat was a convention that worked very well. Again, the story is kind of a throw-away (tho, I did love the surprise revelation at the end) but overall, I think it was the best SAW film since the first one. We had a blast.

After the movies, we went to dinner at Pink Taco (still in full costume) and then made our way to a too fabulous Masquerade Party in the Hollywood Hills. Check out some of the fun photos we snapped last night, after the jump …

‘SAW 3D’ Releases The Last ‘SAW’ Poster Ever

In the past few weeks we’ve seen motion poster artwork for SAW 3D (the final film in the horror franchise) that was both eye-popping and mind-blowing … today we get to see the final motion poster artwork for the film that shows that the finale is building to a HUGE conclusion:

After several years, several movies, and hundreds of traps, Jigsaw’s games will finally come to an end on October 29th when Lionsgate releases Kevin Greutert’s Saw 3D in theaters everywhere. Twisted Pictures producers confirmed that this is the final Saw, therefore what we have for you is something quite special … the final Saw 3D poster, which can also be considered the very last Saw poster ever. As epic as that sounds, the new one sheet mirrors that sentiment featuring the construction of a Statue of Liberty-sized Jigsaw. Mother-effin’-epic. Yeah!

The end is truly nigh … but how will it all end? Is this new motion poster a clue to what is in store in the SAW franchise finale? Check out the poster after the jump and judge for yourselves …

"The last piece of the puzzle ... is YOU!"
‘SAW 3D’ Releases A New Video Trailer

Back in July we saw motion poster artwork for the upcoming final SAW film that was both eye-popping AND mind-blowing. Today we get to check out the new video trailer for SAW 3D that makes it plainly clear that the last victim to suffer at the hands of Jigsaw the serial killer is YOU:

The trailer shows scenes of gristly death for the poor victims in the movie but it also suggests that the 3D technology used in this film is so advanced that YOU in the audience will get pulled into the film as well. Now, of course that cannot happen … or can it? After the jump, check out this new trailer for SAW 3D and see what the movie has in store for you …

"Mind-Blowing"
‘SAW 3D’ Releases More Motion Poster Artwork

Last week we got to see a very fun, very inventive 3D motion poster for the upcoming 7th SAW film titled SAW 3D. As you may recall, we also learned last week that SAW 3D will be the final installment of the SAW movie franchise … but it was the motion poster that really caught my eye. Today we get to see another motion poster for SAW 3D … this one professes to be mind-blowing:

Tobin Bell is back (somehow) in Saw 3D, and this exclusive first look at the groovy motion poster is here to prepare us to have our minds blows. At San Diego Comic-Con we reported how the Saw franchise was dubbed the “most successful horror franchise” by the Guinness Book of World Records. This proves we’re not the only ones who equate the onset of Autumn’s cool breeze with changing leaves, pumpkin pie and the diobolical traps laid out for (mostly) deserving victims of the Saw films. All good things must come to an end, however, and the Saw films intend to go out with not only a bang, but a trans-planar leap into three dimensional space … Saw 3D is out in theaters on October 29.

After the jump, check out the movie poster above in motion …

'Saw VII' will be the final film
‘SAW 3D’ Releases Motion Poster Artwork, Announces End Of Franchise

Another year, time for another SAW movie … and with 2010 San Diego Comic-Con in full swing, it’s time once again to check in with the horror franchise to see what’s in store this time around. Altho the next SAW film is technically SAW VII, it has been titled SAW 3D because — you guessed it — the film will be presented in eye-popping 3D. Additionally, an announcement will be made at Comic-Con this weekend that SAW 3D will be the final film of the horror franchise. That’s right folks, the end has finally come for SAW. Here is our first look at the first poster released from SAW 3D and deets about the upcoming announcement:

After seven movies, more than $730 million in worldwide box office and 30 million DVDs sold, the grisly horror franchise Saw is hanging it up after the final film, Saw 3-D, out Oct. 29. Producers and star Tobin Bell will make the announcement Friday at Comic-Con during the film’s footage presentation. “It’s time to stop,” says Oren Koules, a producer on all the Saw movies. “We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell.” That’s probably code for “gruesome.” The franchise, about a booby-trap-building psycho, became the titan of horror films with its intricate, deadly devices: a dirty needle pit; a razor box that peels skin like onions; a reverse bear trap that rips open the jaw. But that’s child’s play compared with the final film, which was shot in 3-D and will feature 11 booby traps, nearly double the average for previous films. The film was re-edited and submitted six times to the Motion Picture Association of America to bring it from an NC-17 to an R rating. “I’m surprised we got it,” says producer Mark Burg. “It’s more violent than any of them. But it’s in 3-D, it answers all the questions, it comes full circle. We have the goods on this one” … “You can count on one hand the franchises that lasted seven years — and every year, no less,” says Jason Constantine, Lionsgate’s president of acquisitions and co-productions. “It became part of pop-culture discourse.”

Whoa … I am actually very surprised that SAW VII will be the final film. To be honest, I fell out of love with the franchise a few movies ago but I never thought they’d end the run so soon. I figured they’d go at least until the 10th movie. Still, it seems time the end the run … I understand that this last SAW film will answer all the questions and will bring the story full circle. Cary Elwes, who hasn’t been featured in a SAW film since he hacked off his foot and escaped to freedom at the end of the first film will return for SAW VII. I’m actually very excited to see SAW in 3D now that I know it’s the final installment. As if this news wasn’t enough excitement, SAW 3D has released one of those cool motion posters to promote the film. Check it out after the jump …
