The Best Children's Book EVER!!!!!
Listen: Samuel L. Jackson Wants You To ‘Go The F*ck To Sleep’

A few weeks ago, a new children’s book was released that caused a bit of a senstation because of its colorful title. The book, Go the Fuck to Sleep, was written by Adam Mansbach and was illustrated by Ricardo Cortés … and that is all well and good. BUT the audiobook version of Go the Fuck to Sleep was narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and that sent the book’s coolness factor thru the roof. Click below to hear Samuel L. Jackson narrate one of the cutest, funnest and best children’s books available for sale today.

The 2010 American Music Awards Are Handed Out

Last night the celebs made their way out to the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA last night to attend the 2010 American Music Awards. Tween sensation Justin Bieber was the big winner at the show, taking home 4 awards (including Artist of the Year) but there were plenty of the Lucite trophies to go around for other deserving artists. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals last night:

Look at little Willow Smith showing off her unique fashion sensibilities. Homegirl is only getting started … the little girl is just fabulous. New mama-to-be P!nk was lookin’ fabulous herself … altho she wasn’t bumpin’ out too much on the red carpet, she did have that beautiful glow that all pregnant women have. The pairing of the New Kids on the Block with the Backstreet Boys was just … genius! Separately, the boy bands are just meh … together, they’re actually interesting again. After the jump, check out some photos from the show itself and read some deets about who won what, who sang what and what went down at the American Music Awards last night

The Cast Of ‘The Avengers’ Assembles At 2010 Comic-Con

On Friday we learned straight from the horse’s mouth the official confirmation that the amazing Joss Whedon would be directing the big screen adaptation of The Avengers. Today we get to see the full principal cast of the film assembled all together at a panel for the film yesterday at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. Here is our first look at the assembled cast of The Avengers on stage together yesterday afternoon:

As footage rolled of the Avengers’ logo, a big “A,” we heard Samuel L. Jackson’s voice: “Super heroes came together,” he bellowed, “the day the Avengers were formed.” Then they came out one by one. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Chris Evans as Captain America. Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Mark Ruffallo as The Hulk. Joss Whedon as The Director. Downey calls this film more ambitious than Inception. Joss Whedon had tears in his eyes. He said, “I had a dream all my life and it wasn’t this good.” And 6500 hundred people in Hall H screamed from the very depths of their multiverse-loving souls. The Avengers had assembled. And just like that they were gone. After seeing the footage of Captain America and Thor they had a job to do: to prepare to shoot the greatest comic book movie in the history of time.

You will note that Mark Ruffalo is included in the cast as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, just like we heard he would be. Also included in this photo is Clark Gregg (sandwiched between Robert Downey, Jr. and Scarlett Johansson) who will play Agent Coulson (just like he did in Iron Man and Iron Man 2) and director Joss Whedon. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the awesomeness assembled in this photo together. With Joss Whedon at the helm, the possibilities are endless for The Avengers to truly be the greatest superhero film of all time. After the jump, check out one more photo of The Avengers cast assembled on stage at Comic-Con yesterday afternoon …

Here we go again
‘Iron Man 2’ Premieres In Hollywood

With a little over a week left to go until the film opens in theaters, Iron Man 2 held its world premiere here in LA last night at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, CA. As you might expect, the main stars of IM2 were in attendance last night along with a few of their very famous friends. Here are a few photos from last night’s Iron Man 2 Hollywood premiere and some deets from Robert Downey, Jr. himself about what we can expect from this second installment of the Iron Man saga:

As a kid, Robert Downey Jr. never dressed up in superhero costumes. “Growing up? No,” says Downey Jr. “But in my mid-30s in Palm Springs right before an arrest? Yes. It was a premonition.” Although the actor is making light of his past struggles with drug abuse, what is no joke is Downey Jr’s success at resurrecting his acting career after overcoming a long addiction to heroin and cocaine. He made a stunning comeback as Tony Stark, an arrogant, hard drinking, wisecracking playboy engineer who also wrestles with his own personal demons in 2008′s big screen adaptation of the Marvel comic book series, “Iron Man.” Now, Downey Jr., 45, is back in “Iron Man 2″ along with plenty more action, characters and explosions. The film opens in much of Europe, Asia and Australia this week before hitting U.S. theaters on May 7. The parallels between Downey Jr. and Tony Stark were obvious in the original and are just as clear in the sequel. After five years of drug arrests culminating in a prison term in 2000, Downey Jr.’s return to Hollywood’s A-list post- “Iron Man” — including a Golden Globe award for his role in “Sherlock Holmes” — is not unlike Stark’s own rise in status after he reveals his dual identity as the armored superhero. “I think (Robert’s own success) informed the level of fame and resurgence that Tony Stark experiences since he announces that he’s Iron Man,” director Jon Favreau told reporters. In “Iron Man 2″, Stark himself is no longer making weapons — just saving the world and enjoying his rock star status. Except now the U.S. government insists that he hand over his superhero suit to the military. Stark refuses. Favreau likened the sequel to someone throwing another party after a successful first bash. “Iron Man” earned $585 million at worldwide box offices and the pressure was in making sure “this was going to be as fun or more fun than the last party,” he said. Putting together the sequel began soon after the first movie was released. With plenty of characters vying for a finite amount of screen time in the sequel, Favreau needed actors who could really “make an impression.” Gwyneth Paltrow is back as Pepper Potts, who Stark promotes from assistant to CEO of his Stark Industries. At the same time, Stark needs to solve the mystery behind new character, Russian villain Ivan Vanko, played by Mickey Rourke. Rounding out the new cast is Scarlett Johansson, sporting red hair as The Black Widow, and Sam Rockwell as weapons manufacturer Justin Hammer. Don Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard in the role of Lt. Col. James Rhodes. Rourke was enlisted to play Vanko (a.k.a Whiplash) as he was coming off his own career resurgence with Golden Globe and BAFTA best actor awards last year for “The Wrestler” … With this cast in place, Downey Jr. said he “felt a little bit like a co-manager of a baseball team that just got an even better line-up in the spring.”

And away we go. Now that the first premiere is in the can, the countdown is really underway for the release of Iron Man 2. As you may recall, IM2 was due to premiere in London first but due to the Icelandic volcano that has been disrupting European air travel, the first premiere was moved over here to LA. I suspect there will other premieres in NYC and London in the coming week … and then the film opens wide here in the US on May 7. I’ve been staying away from reading reviews so as not to spoil the film before I get to see it, but I’m hearing generally positive things about the sequel. I cannot wait to see this film for myself … I can hardly believe we are so close to its release.

Red tie, red carpet
‘The Spirit’ Premieres In Hollywood

Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, relative newcomer Gabriel Macht and others made their way out to the Grauman’s Chinese Theater for the Hollywood premiere of their new movie The Spirit amid the freezing cold rain that fell here last night. Directed by visionary filmmaker Frank Miller, The Spirit is based on the graphic novel of the same name created by Will Eisner. Here are a few photos of some of the celebs who made their way out, braved the cold and walked the red carpet last night:

Samuel L Jackson and Eva Mendez walked the red carpet for the premiere of their Latest film – The Spirit on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The film is directed by Frank Miller who has adapted the comics of his mentor into the film. “Will Eisner was my mentor and he created The Spirit around the same time Superman was created and he drew from older sources. He regarded the Superman and Batman looking like circus performances and so I would rather have a guy with a fedora and red tie,” says Director and Writer, Frank Miller. The Spirit tells the story of a man who [is killed and returns from the dead] and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. Meanwhile, Jackson who plays a villain named Octopuss in the film says he’s wanted to work with Miller since Sin City. “I have wanted to work with Frank (Miller) for a while I was chasing him for a long time trying to get one of those Sin City stories and I couldn’t. Then they end up doing the movie and I am not in it. So when Frank Miller wants to meet I thought I am going to get this Sin City story. Then he tells me ‘I am thinking of doing The Spirit and I want you in it and want you to be the bad guy.” Also starring Scarlet Johansson, The Spirit is slated to release on Christmas Day.

Darion and I were very fortunate to be invited to attend last night’s premiere of this film and I am happy to report that we had a pretty fantastic time. Despite the driving rain, Lions Gate Films really pulled off a spectacular red carpet event on Hollywood Blvd. last night that absolutely did not disappoint. Darion and I were sitting in the same row as Samuel L. Jackson and were only one row away from Scarlett Johannson and two rows away from Eva Mendes. We had a blast! I have a bunch of personal pics that Darion snapped at the afterparty which was held across the street from the theater at the Roosevelt Hotel and will have my full review in the TV Guide post. I must say, tho, that these photos do not do the celebs justice. Scarlett, Eva and Jamie King looked ravishing in person … literally, take-your-breath-away hot! Just being close to them in person was an incredible experience. Getting to meet some of them was just a thrill. More soon …
