"The tone was light and fun ... They aren't reconciling."
Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Reunite In NYC

Last Tuesday we learned the sad news that married couple Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson decided to end their marriage and a couple of days later, Scarlett showed up in Jamaica with her BFFs in an effort to get away from all the media attention. This weekend, she made her way back to NYC and was reportedly spotted in the close company of her estranged husband Ryan Reynolds. According to People magazine, the couple enjoyed a “friendly meal” together in an effort to remain cordial with one another as they move forward with their divorce … because, apparently, the couple are not reconciling:

Say What???????
Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Are Dunzo!

Uh oh! We’ve got another celebrity break-up to discuss … and this one is even bigger than Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter‘s split. The very married Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have split up! Despite the fact that both Ryan and Scarlett have recently professed their love for one another in the press, TMZ reports that the couple are living apart and are planning to divorce. Sad but true, ScRyan are dunzo, y’all!

TMZ has learned Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have separated. We’re told Ryan and Scarlett are living apart. And we’re told it’s amicable. We’re told Ryan and Scarlett are living apart. And we’re told it’s amicable. Ryan and Scarlett released a statement through their rep, telling TMZ,

“After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

Ryan told GQ in September, Scarlett was “the best part” of his life, though he said having a family was “a few years down the road.” Ryan was named PEOPLE magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive last month. Interesting — the couple was rarely seen out together. The most visible appearance — at the Tony Awards this past June. The couple was married in September, 2008.

It’s strange, the couple kinda popped up out of nowhere when they started going out … then the secret wedding … and now the sudden split. Doesn’t it kinda sound like they rushed into things a bit and ended up figuring out that they weren’t meant to be married? As you may recall, Ryan was engaged to Alanis Morissette shortly before he left her for Scarlett … now Alanis is happily married and expecting the birth of her first child. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about the death of ScRyan in the days to come … still, as surprising as this news is … I can’t say I’m totally shocked. What do y’all think?

The Sexiest Man Alive?
Ryan Reynolds’s High School Yearbook Photo Hits The Internets

Yesterday People magazine named actor Ryan Reynolds as the Sexiest Man Alive … today, we get to check out what the sexiest man used to look like in high school. Just one day after Ryan was revealed on the cover of People magazine, his yearbook senior photo page made its way to the Internets:

LMAO!! In all honesty, I think many of us would be very embarrassed to read the senior quotes we came up with for our high school yearbooks but Ryan‘s here is particularly hilarious. 4 BOYZ with the juice? LOL!! So … you wanna see what Ryan Reynolds looked like in high school? Check out his photo, after the jump …

'People' magazine makes its choice for 2010
Ryan Reynolds Named The ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

People magazine has announced their pick as the Sexiest Man Alive and this year they have bestowed that honor on actor Ryan Reynolds. As you may recall, GQ magazine just named Ryan‘s wife Scarlett Johansson as the Babe of the Year so it seems only fitting that he would get the title of Sexiest Man Alive. Here is our first look at Ryan‘s new People magazine cover and some deets about his new title:

Sure, his chiseled abs have caused millions to swoon, but this year’s Sexiest Man Alive Ryan Reynolds loves to keep them laughing. “My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke,” says the 6’2″ actor, who suits up as the Green Lantern next year. “When I stop training, I turn into a skin-colored whisper.” We doubt that. From growing up the youngest of four brothers in Canada to being the funny guy in films like The Proposal, Reynolds has learned to take everything in stride. “You just have to go with the flow,” he says of his new title. “This gives my family entre into teasing me for the rest of my life. ” The actor does expect a few new perks at home with his wife of two years, Scarlett Johansson. “Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better,” Reynolds says. “The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers.”

Oh yeah, there is no question that Ryan is DEFFO among the Sexiest Men Alive and trust me, I am happy that he won the title but … where’s the surprise here? In fact, when you see who else made the People magazine list of Sexiest Men, you’ll discover that all of the usual suspects are on the list … again. After the jump, find out who else made People magazine’s list of the Sexiest Men Alive

The biggest Fanboy FrightFest Awards Show gets even BIGGER
The 2010 Spike Scream Awards Are Handed Out

Spike TV held its annual Scream Awards at the Greek Theater in Hollywood, CA last night and they managed to get some of the biggest names in Hollywood to come out and party with the fanboys. From Sir Anthony Hopkins to Halle Berry, comic legend Bill Murry to director Christopher Nolan — the iconic Sigourney Weaver … the 2010 Spike Scream Awards were a Who’s Who of the biggest names in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comic Books, Horror, Video Games, TV, Movies and MORE! Here are some of the folks who strutted their stuff on the red carpet last night along with some spoilery deets from Access Hollywood about what went down at last night’s taping of the Spike Scream Awards (which won’t air until Tuesday October 19):

Ghouls and goblins… Fanboys and freaks… Not to mention, huge stars including Halle Berry, Kristen Stewart, James Cameron, Megan Fox, Mickey Rourke and Michael J. Fox… They all were out in full force for Spike TV’s 5th Annual “SCREAM 2010” awards on Saturday night at the Greek Theatre nestled deep in the woods of LA’s Griffith Park. More than just a frightfest, this still young event has become an awards show for the Comic-Con crowd – honoring sci-fi fare like nomination-leading film “Inception” and TV’s “Lost,” as well as the more expected genre nominees like “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Zombieland.” The atmosphere was nothing short of inspired. Fans were all dressed up as their favorite characters. The elaborate “Inception”-designed stage was accented by a giant replica of the film’s famous spinning top. A giant full moon (at times becoming a circular saw or the “Back to the Future” watchtower clock) dominated the backdrop. The presenter platforms were circled by gargoyles spitting fire from their mouths and the trophy ladies were dressed as Natalie Portman’s character in the upcoming “Black Swan.” The evening began with Halle Berry in a shiny mini-dress, introducing the night’s most nominated project, “Inception.” Director Christopher Nolan was on hand to accept on behalf of the dream-bending film’s six wins for the night. In true Comic-Con fashion, some of the most anticipated films of the upcoming year used the night to introduce first looks at footage. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Emma Roberts and Wes Craven were on hand to world premiere the first footage of “Scream 4,” which drew a huge fan reaction. Other first look world premieres included: “Paranormal Activity 2,” Rainn Wilson on hand to present “Super,” AMC’s new original series “The Walking Dead,” Anthony Hopkins on hand to present “The Rite,” new footage from “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows,” and new scenes from the upcoming DVD release of “Avatar.” The biggest crowd reaction of the night came when Bill Murray came out in a Ghostbusters costume (accompanied by Ray Parker Jr.‘s famous theme song) to accept on behalf of “Zombieland” for its win for Best Horror Film. “It’s all I had that was clean,” he declared to an ecstatic crowd. Reunions were also a big theme for the evening. David Spade introduced Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, who were on hand to promote the 25th anniversary re-release of the “Back to the Future” trilogy. The film’s famous DeLorean even made an appearance … Other highlights of the night included James Cameron introducing a special award to Sigourney Weaver (who emerged from a giant “Alien” egg)… a music video from Break.com featuring Seth Green, Stan Lee and Katee Sackhoff called “Geek & Gamer Gurls,” set to the tune of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”… And the best line of the night, which came courtesy of Sarah Silverman: “I just met Megan Fox backstage and she should totally be in Eli Roth’s next movie…. But even if she’s not, I hope she gets tortured and decapitated anyways.”

Since I was lucky enough to attend the Scream Awards last night, I got to watch all of the awesomeness unfold live on stage … and I had a blast. You must tune in Tuesday night to watch … this year’s Spike Scream Awards is by far the best one yet … and it only promises to keep getting better! If you can’t wait for Tuesday to see some of the memorable moments from the 2010 Spike Scream Awards, you can check out some photos from the show — after the jump …

"I’m just a little bit more wary of having my relationship turning into a soap opera"
Ryan Reynolds Does ‘GQ’ Magazine

Hottie actor Ryan Reynolds, who will be seen next year in the big screen adaptation of Green Lantern, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of GQ magazine. While we have to wait until Spring 2011 to see Ryan in Green Lantern, we only have a few weeks to wait in order to see him in a new thriller titled Buried. Here is our first look at Ryan‘s new GQ coverphoto and some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

Ryan Reynolds is handsome, funny, charming, extremely ripped, married to one of the most desirable women on the planet, Scarlett Johansson, and likable to boot. After a string of comedies, some romantic, some mediocre, Reynolds has been busy making himself a movie star, especially with his latest role as a man who’s been buried alive. Buried is unusual to say the least, the entire film consists of footage of the buried man—Reynolds—in his coffin. GQ’s Chris Heath spends some time with Reynolds, where he opens up about his family, his career, the toll filming Buried took on him, and says that marriage is the “best part” of his life.

Ryan Reynolds on his family’s reaction to his acting career: “My family is as far from a stage family as you could ever possibly find. Even if my father wasn’t speaking to me, he would never, ever miss a baseball game. Even if he was upset with me for a month at a time over some trivial bullshit, I would still see him standing in his trench coat over there at my football games in the rain. But the acting world, that whole stuff was just so foreign to him. He would never come to that stuff.”

On forever being known as Van Wilder: “It made me the party guy. I would walk into a bar and people would start lining up the shots. You could sum up my career at that point as a free shot at a bar. I know it affected me more than I’m revealing, because I know I went years without even saying the worlds ‘Van Wilder.’ Even now, when I say it, it’s a bit of a stretch for me.”

On filming Buried: Reynolds was constantly cut by contact with the unfinished wood of the coffin, and a bald patch formed on the back of his head where it rubbed against the sand on the coffin’s floor, not to mention the terrible insomnia he suffered from. “I’ll never, ever in my life complain on a set again after being on that set. Sixteen, seventeen days of doing that… It was such a state of emotional distress.”

On how things have changed since marrying someone famous: “Things change when you get married in general. But in terms of being a couple that’s in a public situation and speculated about and all that nonsense, it’s changed a little bit. I’m a little more guarded, I think. I’m just a little bit more wary of having my relationship turning into a soap opera. I’ve just unilaterally not addressed it. That’s kind of been the fail-safe for me.”

On keeping his private life private: “I think it’s embellished upon. It hasn’t been some covert operation. I mean, certainly the wedding was, but I believe anyone should have the right to have a private wedding ceremony.”

It’s clear that Ryan likes to keep it real … tho, it’s also clear that he likes to keep it personal. I think he and wife Scarlett Johansson have found the perfect balance of celebrity and privacy. They work diligently to promote their projects and work just as diligently to keep their private life out of the limelight. When they are working, they each make themselves available publicly. They do not, as a couple, put their private lives on display in order to attain more publicity and THAT, I think, is the key to keeping work separate from one’s personal life. He seems like a totally down guy, which is why I heart him so. After the jump, check out some of the photos from Ryan‘s GQ photospread and see the other reasons why I heart him so …

Ryan Reynolds Films A PSA For The Natural Resources Defense Council

Ryan Reynolds, who plays the fictional superhero Green Lantern in the upcoming film of the same name, is featured in a new public service announcement for the Natural Resources Defense Council wherein he advocates the use of alternative natural energies rather than, say, oil. Here are a few screencaps from this new video and some deets about the ad campaign:

When Ryan Reynolds was filming his superhero flick The Green Lantern in New Orleans, he was inspired to spring into a different kind of action: activism. Exploring the Gulf region plagued by spilled oil was an eye-opening experience for the leading man, 33. “I flew over the Deepwater Horizon site and saw what looked like the opposite of all the news reports – it looked more like somebody had spilled water into a Gulf filled with oil,” Reynolds says. Wanting to make sure similar spills never happen again, the actor has teamed with the Natural Resources Defense Council for a PSA to encourage the use of alternative energies. “What we’re doing is literally the same thing cavemen did,” he says. “We set things on fire to produce energy. There are so many viable alternatives.” He adds: “I see this whole thing as a wake-up call, a chance to shift to cleaner energy and build a greener economy.”

Essentially, this PSA is 30 seconds of Ryan Reynolds talking about the importance of using alternative energies … as we stare into his piercingly beautiful eyes. Yes, it is very distracting. After the jump, check out the PSA and see for yourselves …

The Good, The Bad
The Cast Of ‘Green Lantern’ Assembles At 2010 Comic-Con

Earlier today we got to see the first photos of the principal cast of the Marvel Comics film The Avengers assembled together at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con yesterday afternoon and right now we get to see the principal cast of the DC Comics film Green Lantern also assembled at Comic-Con yesterday as well. As you should be well aware by now, Ryan Reynolds plays the lead hero Hal Jordan/Green Lantern alongside Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and villains Mark Strong as Sinestro and Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond. Here is our first look at all of these actors together on stage at Comic-Con yesterday afternoon:

Ryan Reynolds says he took the title role in “Green Lantern” to play a hero that can “throw a punch, tell a joke and kiss a girl.” The actor, along with castmates Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong and director Martin Campbell, presented a clip from the film at Comic-Con Saturday for some 6,000 ecstatic fans, many of whom camped out overnight for a chance to see the presentation. Campbell says the 3-D movie blends realistic action with humor and an otherworldly trip to the planet Oa, home of the Green Lanterns. He added that while the hero’s costume is “a work in progress,” his cinematic story is set: He is joined by his fellow Green Lanterns for a face-off against Parallax, whom Reynolds describes as “the physical manifestation of fear in our movie.” The clip showed Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who, after a fight with street thugs, takes the Green Lantern oath and uses his new powers to blow them away. Reynolds recited the oath for the Comic-Con crowd, which rewarded him with cheers. The cast seemed to embrace the Comic-Con energy, and revealed which characters they’d dress up with if they could walk the convention floor. Reynolds would go as a Wookie because he likes to “be cute and dangerous.” Lively would dress as Harry Potter and Sarsgaard would go as Captain America. Strong said he’d dress as his “Green Lantern” character, Sinestro. DC Comics chief Geoff Johns hinted that other Green Lantern films, and a Justice League movie, could follow: “The success of ‘Green Lantern’ will lead the charge for everything DC does.”

It’s really cool to see the principal castmembers all assembled together … I have high hopes that Green Lantern will be a big enough smash film that DC Comics will move forward with films based on their other iconic superheroes … like The Flash and Wonder Woman! If Green Lantern does well, I’m certain plans will move forward to make other DC superhero films leading up to an eventual Justice League film. I think they got the casting so right for Green Lantern, I can’t wait to see Mark Strong as Sinestro. I just want to see more, more, more … thankfully we only have to wait ’til next year to see Green Lantern on the big screen.

Promo Photos Of Ryan Reynolds In ‘Green Lantern’ Have Surfaced

Yesterday we got our first look at Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern on the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. Today we get to check out a couple of the Green Lantern promo photos that are featured inside this issue of EW. First up, a photo of Ryan as GL alter-ego Hal Jordan in possession of his famed power ring:

I have to say, while Green Lantern’s ring is all flashy and stuff … I still think that Wonder Woman has THE most fabulous accessories in all of superhero-dom. Hands down. Still, it’s very cool that we get such an early look at Hal Jordan with his very powerful ring. After the jump, check out a promo pic of Reynolds with his Green Lantern co-star Blake Lively who plays love interest Carol Ferris …
