Ryan Reynolds Does ‘Saturday Night Live’

Brings wifey Scarlett Johansson along for a cameo
Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Ryan Reynolds was the celebrity guest host on last night’s ep of Saturday Night Live and while I love me some Ryan Reynolds, I was horribly dismayed that he didn’t take off his shirt once … not once! All in all, SNL was kinda entertaining but truth be told, it was far from the funniest ep of the show I’ve ever seen:

At least Ryan looked good and did his best with the skits that they came up with for the show … he even brought along his wife Scarlett Johansson to do a little cameo in one of his skits:

If you would like to see a sampling of Ryan’s appearance on SNL last night, you can check out his monologue, his skit with Scarlett and a digital short that featured Andy Samburg and Elijah Wood — after the jump …

Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Reynolds Go For A Bike Ride

Vroom! Vroom!
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Happily marrieds Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were spotted enjoying a bike ride in SoCal on Ryan’s motorcycle yesterday afternoon … of course, Ryan was lookin’ hawt on the bike … ScarJo, not so much:

I mean, it’s not that Scarlett looked bad … I think it’s just that I don’t really care for her helmet and plaid is not a good look for her. Mebbe it’s just that Ryan really knows how to look good on a bike and dear Scarlett pales in comparison. Or, you know, mebbe it’s the fact that Scarlett is married to one of the hottest guys in Hollywood and I kinda, sorta hate her guts for it? HMMM … well, whatever the case may be, I think it’s safe to assume that most folks would much prefer to see photos of Ryan Reynolds on his motorcycle all by himself … sans wife (and shirt). I mean … right?

Ryan Reynolds Lands The Role Of Green Lantern

First actor to play a character from both Marvel & DC Comics
Monday, July 13th, 2009

It is being reported that Ryan Reynolds has won the casting battle to play the part of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the planned big screen movie adaptation of the comic book hero. It was rumored that both Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper were up against Ryan for the role but it looks like Ryan won the role. This makes Reynolds the first actor to play a character from both Marvel Comics (he featured in the Blade series of films and played Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and DC Comics (Green Lantern is one DC’s big superheroes):

Warner Bros. Pictures has hired X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Proposal star Ryan Reynolds to play the title role in the anticipated Green Lantern, scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release. Based on the DC Comics hero, the action-adventure will be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye) and produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti. Berlanti wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. The Hollywood trades say that Reynolds and his camp entered negotiations for the part Friday, after the studio held two rounds of screen tests, along with actors Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto. Justin Timberlake also did a screen test. The studio had holding options on the actors, but, except for Reynolds, those expired Monday. Reynolds’ option would have expired end of day Friday. Production is expected to begin in January. The “Green Lantern” was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Introduced in 1959, Hal Jordan is a second-generation test pilot, an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur’s spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was “utterly honest and born without fear.” Reynolds recently starred in Fox’s “Wolverine,” in which he played Wade Wilson/Deadpool. The character is now being developed for a spin-off to which Reynolds is attached. He also played Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity.

As much as I LOVE Ryan Reynolds, I was really pullin’ for Bradley Cooper to get the part. I can totally see Hal Jordan in Cooper … and I was really lookin’ forward to seeing Coop in those tight superhero spandex. Ah well, I guess I’ll just have to settle for Ryan Reynolds squeezin’ his goodies in those superhero spanx. Wait … why was I all upset for again?? On second thought, WOOT!! What do y’all think … is this good news or bad news?

Ryan Reynolds Features In Alternate Covers For ‘Entertainment Weekly’

Lil' squirt
Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Earlier this week we got our first look at Ryan Reynolds, star of the new film The Proposal which opens in theaters this weekend, on the cover of the Must List issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine … today we get to see the alternate covers of the mag which feature Ryan in alternate (yet equally hawt) poses:

I’m not sure if these alt covers are actually being printed for sale or home delivery around the country but my issue of the mag arrived with the cover we saw on Wednesday (lower right corner, with the water wings) and the other 3 covers printed inside the mag. I have to say … each alt cover is suitable for ripping out of the mag and affixing to one’s wall — not that I did that myself, I swear.

Ryan Reynolds + any state of undress + wet = Yes, please!!

Ryan Reynolds Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

Covers the annual 'Must List' issue
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Ryan Reynolds, whose new film The Proposal opens in theaters this Friday (a movie that I got to see at a sneak preview last weekend and LOVED!), is featured on the cover and in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. This week’s issue is the mag’s annual Must List issue and hottie Ryan was chosen as the coverboy star for the 2009 edition … here is his cute coverphoto:

Ryan Reynolds is simply too smart and self-aware to be so good-looking. The reticent hunk—who kicks off our Must List for 2009, thanks to his big-screen summer double shot of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Proposal–spent his EW cover shoot wielding a giant water gun instead of an ego, and try as he might, he simply cannot muster the arrogance to flaunt what he’s got. When asked if he’s comfortable as a sex symbol, Reynolds sighs. “If you take any of that seriously, you need to be euthanized, ASAP,” he says. “There are moments when you can use that to your advantage. But it’s really embarrassing. I think I fear more than anything just sounding like a complete a–hole when I have to answer that question.” So let’s skip to the work, where the 32-year-old Canadian is more at home. Of late, he’s certainly done enough of it. In a span of 15 months Reynolds shot four consecutive films: April’s teen comedy Adventureland; Wolverine, soon to spawn a spin-off for Reynolds’ sarcastic mercenary-turned-mutant, Deadpool; The Proposal, a romantic comedy (in theaters Friday) that lets him crack wise opposite old friend Sandra Bullock; and Paper Man, which debuted this month at the L.A. Film Festival, where Reynolds plays Jeff Daniels’ imaginary superhero friend. (He also found time last September to wed actress Scarlett Johansson, a marriage he prefers not to talk about beyond calling it “fantastic.”)

The coverstory on Ryan’s hotness continues after the jump — where you can also see another photo from inside the mag. Never fear, Ryan is still shirtless in the second photo …

‘The Proposal’ Premieres In Hollywood

Betty White in da HIZZZZZ
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, the amazing Betty White and more were all on hand at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, CA for the premiere of their new movie The Proposal. Sandra, who has been away from the spotlight for quite some time, is featured in the movie in a nude scene with Ryan Reynolds (OMG!!!) and — it turns out — looks pretty damn good. According to early reviews, Sandra has never looked better. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s premiere:

The buzz at the after party for the Hollywood premiere of “The Proposal” was all about Sandra Bullock. The fearlessly funny 44-year-old actress stars in that new romantic comedy opposite Ryan Reynolds, who is 11 years her junior, but in the uproarious nude scene the two share that everyone was talking about afterward, she looks almost like a teenager. A very fit teenager. So that was the talk of the wedding-reception-themed after party Monday, June 1, where Bullock snuggled close to her husband, Jesse James, while greeting friends like George Lopez and his wife Anna. Bullock chuckled when asked earlier about that very revealing nude sequence, and explained how she made it work. “Sadly, my first and last nude scene got laughs. I had to be very secure with that,” she said. “It was all about choreography. I mean, literally when you read it on the page you saw it and then you realized, ‘Okay, there’s no way to shoot this unless you’re buck naked.’ Then I went, ‘Go to the gym. Cut out the carbs.’ I’m glad that it made people laugh, but shooting it was odd.” Reynolds, who brought his mother Tammy to the shindig, also looked extremely fit, as did his “Proposal” co-star Malin Akerman, who wore a plunging satiny mini dress. Betty White, who gives a very funny performance in the film, was her typically sunny self, greeting co-stars Craig T. Nelson, Oscar Nunez, Michael Nouri, and the film’s director Anne Fletcher.

While I’m sure that Sandra looks amazing, I must admit that I’m more interested in finding out what Ryan looks like in this nude scene. I wonder how much of him we’ll get to see. OY! I have to stop wondering … my frail heart is bout to flutter right thru my ribcage and escape from my chest cavity. Trust me, tho, this is one movie that I deffo plan on seeing … if only to satisfy my growing curiosity. Oh, who am I kidding … any movie that has Betty White in it can absolutely count on getting my money. The Proposal opens on June 19 … will I see any of y’all at the theater for this one?

Ryan Reynolds Does ‘Elle’ Magazine

"I’m not always jokey. I’m not a hysterical guy ... I’m a moody bastard, too."
Monday, May 18th, 2009

Ryan Reynolds, who can be seen in theaters now as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the new film X-Men Origins: Wolverine and later on this year in the films Fireflies in the Garden with Julia Roberts, The Proposal with Sandra Bullock (and Betty White!!!) and Paper Man with Jeff Daniels, is featured in the new issue of Elle magazine wherein he talks about these movies and offers a tiny glimpse into his very private persona. Here is his Elle headshot and a portion of his interview with the mag:

He would never admit it, his manner is so self-deprecatingly Canadian, but there’s something about Ryan Reynolds that is superhuman. Last September, when no one was looking, he married Scarlett Johansson. Their wedding at a small eco-resort on Vancouver Island went off without even a whisper of warning on the gossip blogs. We never even saw a photo. For the past two years, he’s been keeping a work schedule that would make most mortals crumble. He filmed five movies back-toback, with three of them out in the next month. On an ordinary day, he makes Daniel Craig look like Seth Rogen, but to augment his chiseled frame for two new roles, he rose at 4 a.m. to hit the gym and stuck to a steady diet of “chicken and drywall.” It worked. Jeff Daniels costars with Reynolds in the upcoming Paper Man, in which Reynolds plays a 1950s-era superhero, complete with cape and unitard. “I’m looking at him, going, I’m not gay,” Daniels says. “But I’m thinking about it” … On a rare drizzly day in Santa Monica, Reynolds is driving us to lunch in his Prius … Scarlett is in Milan. They just got back from a two-week road trip through the American Southwest. They took the Prius and plugged it in overnight at each stop. As he’s finally off his training regimen, Reynolds gleefully explains, they used the book Road Food as their guide and stopped in tiny towns for authentic, high-calorie fare … Reynolds developed his Obama-caliber deflection techniques through experience. Johansson is not his first high-profile romance. He dated Alanis Morissette for four years; by 2004 they were engaged. Then Reynolds turned 30 and had an early midlife crisis. “I started to feel really reflective,” he says. “I really wanted absolute yesses in my life, as opposed to maybes.” He ended their relationship and set off with a friend for a head-clearing motorcycle ride across Australia. “We were hoping for Easy Rider,” Reynolds says, “but it was wet and awful, and he crashed. I had to double him on my bike to the next town. It looked like that scene in Dumb and Dumber where they’re clinging to each other on a scooter.” Meanwhile, Morissette aired her views on the breakup in her raw 2008 album Flavors of Entanglement … He has not signed on to any new projects yet, although Disney did buy a show he wrote about four brothers, based on the brothers Reynolds, that he’d like to direct. And rumor has it that by introducing Deadpool inside Wolverine, Fox is testing the waters for a Reynolds-Deadpool franchise. “It’s very easy to fall in line and do the same thing over and over again,” he says as we’re getting up from lunch. “You get rewarded for that greatly. But I’m not always jokey. I’m not a hysterical guy to sit and have lunch with all the time. I’m a moody bastard, too.”

Damn, I guess I never realized how much this guy works. He’s going to be in so many movies this year and might appear in a Deadpool franchise sometime in the future? When does he have time to enjoy being married to Scarlett Johansson? It’s easy to see why Ryan is getting cast in all of these movies … there is something very likable about him (despite his claims that he can be a “moody bastard”) and the fact that he’s got amazing abs prolly doesn’t hurt either. I’m really amazed at how low profile he manages to keep his life. You really don’t see him out and about often. I guess some guys really can have it all … a happy relationship, a great career and a semi-normal sounding life. Who knew?
