Ryan Adams, prolific artiste du jour, may have just released his latest album Cardinology a little over a month ago but he has already begin work on his next album … scheduled for a Spring release his new disc tentatively titled Dear Impossible already has about 14 songs penned and ready for recording. Additionally, Ryan has been bizzy blogging on his newish website … offering up short glimpses into his everyday life and sharing the creative process as he goes along — oh yeah, and he’s been interning at Black Book magazine, too. Yep, sounds like the man has been pret-ty bizzy lately:

Ryan Adams’ latest album with his band the Cardinals, “Cardinology,” is barely a month old, but the artist is already back in the studio tracking demos for more than a dozen new songs under the working album title “Dear Impossible.” Songs put to tape with engineer Noah Goldstein include “Firefly,” “So Quiet, It’s Loud,” “Goodbye Sunshine,” “Universe Size Arms,” the title cut, “Please, Hold On,” “Souls Full of Holes,” “OK, I Surrender,” “Wild & Hopeless,” “Kaleidoscope Eyes,” “Your Name Here,” “Mirror-Gold,” “The Lights” and “Lost in Space.” Adams apparently intends to incorporate contributions from the Cardinals at a later date. “Songs need seasons. So it’s springtime for these,” he wrote on his blog. “The guys, my BFF’s in the Cards, all gave me way thumbs up on almost all of them so I figured why not get the working model down now.” The artist describes the material as similar to his 2004 album “Love Is Hell,” and “like a more pop, melodic style.” He’s also drawn comparisons to Sonic Youth’s “Sister” and the Smiths’ “Hatful of Hollow.” “But man, these tunes, they’re tiny little things compared to those records,” Adams says. The Cardinals began another run of support dates with Oasis tomorrow (Dec. 3) in Oakland, Calif., and will then head to Australia and New Zealand in late January. A headlining tour begins Feb. 20 in New Haven, Conn.

As I have mentioned many times here on the blog, I am such a huge Ryan Adams fan. The man rarely disappoints with his music and manages to put out new material at a pace not unlike Prince used to do back in the ’80′s (ie. all the damn time). While I love the stuff Adams has been doing with the Cardinals, I have to admit that I really prefer his less audacious work … just him and a guitar. Ryan offers fans a preview of one of his new demos titled Annihilator HERE … which sounds exactly like I like him to sound. Raw, honest, alone. I can’t wait to hear more.

Incidentally, on Monday night I found myself standing in front of the window of the Left Bank bookshop in the West Village and was forced to share the space with some guy who was smoking up a storm … I stood back to let him look first and then realized that it was Ryan Adams. We were both looking at the first edition books in the window (I was eyeing a First Ed. First Printing of Jack Kerouac‘s On The Road). I didn’t say anything to him … he was really interested in the books so I just went on my way to meet up with David for dinner. For me, Ryan Adams is the kind of artist that you admire from afar … which I am very happy to do. That being said … I just can’t get enough of his blog. Even if you’re not particularly a fan of the man’s work, I think his blog is a great example of what makes reading blogs so much fun.

Pink reader Niki gave me the head’s up that musician (and genius) Ryan Adams added a link to an interesting message on his official website that lists the Top 10 Ways to be a Gentleman. While the list is cute and could be referring to any of his previous ladyloves, the last sentence on the page seems awfully poignant and too cute to be meant for anyone other than his most recent girlfriend Mandy Moore. Perhaps I am not the only one lamenting the loss of R-Andy M-Adams. Could Ryan be sending out a secret message to his lost love in this very public way? Here is a screencap of Ryan‘s entire message:

HMMM … I mean, it’s totes impossible to be absolutely sure who this message is meant for but I have the sneaking suspicion that Ryan is referring to and possibly trying to reach out to Mandy Moore. Ignore the cameras appears to refer to the paparazzi that began following Ryan and Mandy when it was discovered that they were dating. “Bug” seems like a cute little nickname that could be attributed to her, don’tcha think?

Last week the always coherent Courtney Love posted a blog on her official My Space profile accusing rocker Ryan Adams of “stealing” from her daughter Frances Bean‘s trust fund (for a refresher on her erratic rant, click HERE) and this week it appears that Ryan has responded to C. Love‘s claims by way of a strange message which he posted on his official website … tho, it’s not entirely clear that A.) he is actually responding to her or, B.) is referring to Courtney at all. It’s all pretty much conjecture at this point but, eh, it’s totes feasible that he’s sending her a message. Here is the full text of Ryan‘s cryptic message, pay attention to the post script which may or may not be directed at C. Love:

Despite the fact that Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams broke up a few weeks ago (after a pretty lengthy courtship that the couple managed to keep on the downlow) it appears that Mandy is still keen on showing Ryan just how much she still cares for him … by trying to look look exactly like him. Here are a couple pics of Mandy at LAX airport this past Tuesday catching a flight out of town (possibly to stalk Ryan?):

Yeah, I dunno that the indie/emo/grungy/hipster look is exactly right for Ms. Moore. I get that the break-up of R-Andy M-Adams is tough to deal with (for all of us) but Mandy shouldn’t be going around town impersonating her ex-boyfriend. The show Single White Female schtick is so 1992 … it’s time to move on! She might want to give back his glasses, too … if Ryan Adams has to continue on without his hipster spectacles then he might lose all of his cred altogether. Let’s move on … shall we?

Bummer break-up news to report … the blink-and-you-missed-it romantic relationship betwixt Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams has already fizzled out, gone kaput, crapped out. Blaming the glaring light of the media spotlight, Ryan released a statement explaining the reasons for the break-up … sad but true, they are dunzo, ya’ll. Here is the full text of Ryan‘s statement that was released, exclusively apparently, to OK! magazine:

“Mandy is one of those genuinely sweet angelic people you wish to meet your whole life. I am grateful for our friendship and how it allowed us both to grow and learn more. Unfortunately I am allergic to paparazzi and have found the best antidote to that sort of nonsense is staying behind the guitar and typewriter, staying close to my support group of friends and band mates and not engaging in activities that prevent me from taking care of myself or others. I found the entire speculation and subsequent photographs and intrusions terrifying and only wish to live as normal a life as possible, so that I might always remain punk as fuck AND sober. Also, I just want to jam. Plus I like metal A LOT.”

I understand the couple, R-Andy M-Adams, started hooking up back in December but managed to keep things quiet until March and then earlier this month the first pics of the couple together surfaced … and now they’re over. Mandy had to be the most wholesome of Ryan‘s string of babes and Ryan was deffo the most interesting of Mandy‘s men. I was taken aback when I first heard that these two were dating and now that they’re dunzo, I’m kinda mourning the loss. Sure, they made an odd pair but the thought of the two of them together was an intriguing one … what in the world do they have to talk about? Would they ever collaborate musically (like Ryan did with his ex-girlfriend Leona Naess)? What in the world was the sex like? I guess now we’ll never know. Peace the Spork Out, R-Andy M-Adams … you shall be missed.

Okay .. so I realize that just seeing two people walking down the street together, sometimes holding hands, isn’t bona fide proof that they are dating but I’ve been hearing the rumors for far too long that the generally perceived Mandy Moore and the, shall we say, colorful Ryan Adams have started dating … seeing photos of the pair walking the streets of NYC together, sometimes holding hands, appears to lend credence to those rumors:

Ryan has dated some hot (and mostly innocent-like) ladies in the past (like Winona Ryder, Beth Orton, Leona Naess, Parker Posey) and Mandy has enjoyed the company of a bad boy or two (Wilmer Valderamma, DJ AM) so maybe this is a match made in heaven. I’d be interested to know if the duo have worked on any music together since they are both musicians (er, well, Ryan is musician enough for the both of them combined). I hear that Ryan is a heartbreaker … I hope that he’s nice to Mandy … she seems like a sweet girl. Then again, it’s the perceived “sweet girls” that you really have to look out for. [Source]
