The 2010 NewNowNext Awards Are Handed Out

Celebs of varying degree made their way to The Edison in downtown LA last night attend the taping of LOGO TV‘s 2010 NewNowNext Awards, which will air on LOGO on June 17th. Altho we don’t yet know who won what, we do know who showed up at last night and some of what went down … read on:

Logo’s third annual “NewNowNext Awards” made its mark for the first time in Los Angeles last night with high caliber celebrities and breakthrough stars-in-the-making, proving Logo is at the forefront of pop culture. Co-hosted by Niecy Nash and Cheyenne Jackson, the show premieres Thursday, June 17 at 10/9c on Logo. The show featured appearances including Paula Abdul, Mena Suvari, Kylie Minogue, Carmen Electra, Kelly Osbourne, Johnny Weir, DJ Jesus Luz and musical performances by Little Boots, Shontelle, Dan Black and Agnes. The “NewNowNext Awards 2010″ rocked hot spot the Edison in downtown Los Angeles last night. Cheyenne Jackson kicked off the evening with a jazzy crooner parodying award show openings as co-host Nash crashed the stage declaring, “Take it all in, bitches!” In-house DJ Jesus Luz kept the audience moving to the beats of tomorrow as RuPaul, the world’s most famous drag queen and host of the hit series “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” announced the evening’s first award: the “OMFG Internet Award,” honoring what’s sure to be the next, online viral hit. The evening’s momentum continued as actress Aisha Tyler introduced the “Most Addictive Reality Star” award followed by actress Carmen Electra introducing Little Boots, the evening’s first musical act. Little Boots proved her talent was far from “little” with her larger-than-life performance of the groundbreaking hits “Remedy” and “New in Town.” Actor/Comedian Alec Mapa brought the laughs as he landed a giant smooch on Cheyenne Jackson during his introduction of the “Brink of Fame: Comic” award. Up next, actress Candis Cayne revealed the “Best Future Feature,” honoring the most anticipated film blockbuster of the season. The music performances continued as soulful Shontelle took to the stage for her network television debut with the passionate ballad, “Impossible.” The awards got “friggin’ awesome” as New Jersey’s most infamous pair, Snooki and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, joined Ross Matthews to introduce the “Cause You’re Hot” award. A trio of awards was up next as Actress Erin Cummings of the steamy series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” presented the “Brink of Fame: Actor,” honoring the red carpet darlings of tomorrow. Janice Dickinson served her fiercest runway walk as she introduced the most delicious award of the evening: “Best New Indulgence.” Nominees ranging from the “splits” from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to the infamous cast of “Jersey Shore” made this award a morsel of guilty pleasure. Finally, actor Ryan McPartlin and actress Kristin Cavallari presented “Best Show You’re Not Watching” award … The evening wrapped with singer Kelly Osbourne and Johnny Weir presenting the final honor: “Brink of Fame: Music Artist” award, followed by an electrifying performance of “Release Me” by songstress Agnes in her network television debut. The results will be revealed Thursday, June 17, 2010 during the airing of the “NewNowNext Awards” 2010.

It sounds like it was a fun show … I can’t wait to find out who won what. LOGO‘s NewNowNext Awards are always so fun, they have some of the coolest awards … generally, handed out to the most deserving folks in pop culture. Make sure you tune in to LOGO on June 17 to find out if your fave pop culture celebs walked away with NNN Awards.

The 2010 GLAAD Media Awards Are Handed Out In LA

Last month the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards were handed out in a ceremony in NYC, NY and last night the second batch of awards — “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives” — where handed out here in LA in a second ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel. American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert performed and artists like Wanda Sykes, Drew Barrymore won GLAAD Media Awards alongside TV shows like Glee and RuPaul’s Drag Race. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals yesterday and some deets from last night’s affair:

The Fox musical comedy was among the winners at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards. The show’s cast and creator Ryan Murphy received the trophy for outstanding comedy series at Saturday’s glitzy ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. Murphy, in particular, praised lesbian actress Jane Lynch and gay actor Chris Colfer for their contributions. “We have a great responsibility with the show,” Murphy beamed. Murphy told the crowd that Colfer’s character, outspoken gay soprano Kurt Hummel, would have a boyfriend next season, and the pair would become prom kings. Murphy also promised the crowd that Colfer’s character “would never be the victim.” “Iron Chef” Cat Cora presented actress-director Drew Barrymore with the Vanguard Award, which honors efforts to increase visibility and understanding of the gay community. In a humorous video before accepting her trophy, Barrymore listed several of her inspirational gay colleagues, including her agent, lawyer, doctor, stylists and one of her dogs. “The thing that means the most to me about an evening like this, and why I want to fight and be outspoken about this is because there are so many people who are in desperate need of families,” Barrymore said. Constance McMillen, the lesbian Mississippi teenager who challenged her school district’s ban of same-sex prom dates, presented comedian-actress Wanda Sykes with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, which is given by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to an openly gay member of the entertainment community for their work toward eliminating homophobia. “I’m willing to give this award to you,” Sykes teased McMillen, “but I’m not gonna do it. It means a lot to me.” Other winners included Logo’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” for outstanding reality program and “A Single Man” for outstanding wide release film. “A Single Man” director Tom Ford wasn’t on hand to receive his trophy. His partner Richard Buckley accepted the award on Ford’s behalf because the filmmaker was stranded in London thanks to the volcanic cloud of ash. Adam Lambert, the glam-rocking “American Idol” runner-up who raised eyebrows with his racy performance at last year’s American Music Awards, capped off the ceremony hosted by transgender actress Candis Cayne and gay actor Wilson Cruz with a performance of his tunes “Music Again” and “Fever.” He ended by pleading for diversity within the gay community. The awards salute fair, accurate and inclusive representation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives in the media. Other winners — chosen from 152 nominees in 32 categories — were awarded at a March ceremony in New York, while the remainder will be presented at a San Francisco ceremony in June.

Yeah, I know the NYC ceremony last month was fab but LA always does this show better. What a fantastic turn-out for such an important awards show. After the jump, check out some of the winners on stage as they collected their GLAAD Media Awards last night …

RuPaul Signs Copies Of His New Book In NYC

Last Friday we heard from RuPaul herself that her new book Workin’ It! was being released in stores this week and last night, Ru was on hand at the Borders in Columbus Circle in NYC, NY to sign copies of that new book for fans. Here are a few photos of RuPaul at the booksigning last night:

I love me some RuPaul and while I love Ru when she’s all prettied up with high wigs and fab clothes, I don’t really mind so much when Ru is out of drag. But I’m not sure I’m feeling this mustache that he has got going on in these photos. Mebbe it needs to be blonde? I’m not sure. But I digress … as I mentioned last week, I was lucky enough to secure a copy of Workin’ It! and I gotta tell you, if you are a RuPaul fan then you must get this book. The book lays out all of Ru‘s fabulous style secrets and explains the process of being the most fabulous drag queen of all. I’m not sure if RuPaul will be doing any other booksignings in the weeks to come but be on the lookout … he may come to YOUR town soon.

LOGO Knows How To Party Hearty

As I mentioned earlier, David and I were invited to attend the 2nd annual NewNowNext Awards hosted by LOGO here in NYC last night and we had a blast. Because we were not allowed to take photos during the show, I cannot post the ones I clandestinely snapped until after the show airs on June 13 … but I do have some pics to share:

I got to meet, hang out and bond with the fabulous singers Sia and Del Marquis from Scissor Sisters (Del has also released some solo music which I have listened to and LOVE so much). I also got to chat with Bethenny and Jill from the Real Housewives of NYC (no pic tho, they snuck out of the show before I could accost them for a photo) and talk at length with Ongina from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Gurl is so fab and so sweet … we bonded over mini-pizzas :) Ongina lives in LA so hopefully we’ll get to run into one another again soon :)

I also got to meet some really great folks last night … like cute couple Chris and Craig and some LOGO folks — Jonathyn, Morgan and Erin. There were so many lovely people who had such nice things to say about the blog, it was my pleasure meeting you all. MTV parties are always so fun and are always full of really great people. David and I ended up staying out WAY later than I would’ve liked but we were having such a great time, it couldn’t be helped. Make sure YOU TUNE IN to LOGO on June 13 to find out who went home with this year’s NewNowNext Awards. Don’t forget, Pink is the new Blog sponsored the award for the celeb who is Ruining Pop Culture. I know who won … but I’m SWORN to secrecy ;) Tune in and find out who won!

Tonight … David, Eden and I are going to see Rock of Ages on Broadway. I’m so excited … I’ve wanted to see this show for so long … and tonight’s the night! Woot!!
