Since it’s almost Halloween, I thought it would be fun to do a costume contest where two lucky folks will win a signed comic book each. Each year I ask that Pink readers send in fun costumed photos from their various parties or of their children on their trick-or-treating rounds. This year I will pick two submissions at random and will send those folks each a signed comic book. So, if you would like to enter for your chance to win a comic book, send in a HALLOWEEN PHOTO of you and mebbe some friends, kids, neighbors, family members, pets, whatevs to pinkisthenewblog@gmail.com with the subject line Rest Comic Book Contest. I’m hoping to get a bunch of fun pics so that I can post some of them right here on the site. When I arrived, the line of folks who came out for the event stretched down the street and around the block, it was very cool. I was fortunate enough to get to hang out with Milo’s best friends Dino and Russ (some of you may know that they, along with Milo, are the founding members of the Divide Social Club) for the duration of the in-store appearance. I got to meet a few Pink readers and, after the event was finished, I also got to snap a pic with Milo himself. I have to give a huge shout-out to Pink readers Nick, Abby, Cheyenne and Natalie (all pictured above). It was great getting to meet you all :) Respect also goes out to all the DSC gang who came out for the event. One member of DSC flew all the way from Switzerland to be at yesterday’s in-store event. Amazing! I was also lucky enough to meet Milo’s very sweet and supportive parents. They came out to the event to proudly watch their son meet and greet his fans … let me tell you, it was a pleasure meeting them. In fact, I snapped a few Polaroid pics for my collection and Milo’s dad was the one who took the Polaroid of Milo and me. Yesterday’s event was really very cool. I urge all y’all comic book fans to make your way to your local shops and pick up this new Rest series. I understand that the individual books will be published in graphic novel form soon and will be available for sale at Amazon, Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc. … but you’re gonna wanna get the individual copies as well.

Which brings me to … a new contest I’m going to announced here on the blog tomorrow. Milo very graciously signed a couple copies of his new comic book series Rest so that I could give them away to Pink is the new Blog readers:

Honestly, there are just too many things that were presented at this year’s Con that I can’t possibly post them all … but Entertainment Weekly was in the hiz taking photos of some of my fave sci-fi/comic booky things at this year’s convention to give a nice overview. Joss Whedon, Eliza Dushku & Tahmoh Penikett were there reppin’ the new FOX TV series Dollhouse, Michael C. Hall was reppin’ Dexter, Robert Rodriguez & Rose McGowan were reppin’ Red Sonja, Milo Ventimiglia was doing double duty promoting Heroes and his new comic book Rest and Guy Ritchie & Gerard Butler were representin’ their new movie RockNRolla. Oh yeah, it’s just far too much geekdom for one person to handle all at once … which is why I’m not a good candidate for the Comic Con (plus, I don’t look all that great in lycra). Obvs this post can’t do the entire weekend justice but I wanted to post a taste of some of the stuff that I found most interesting. I may end up attending one year … mebbe. Any Comic Can fans out there? Am I totally missing out?
