And The ‘Rest’ Comic Book Contest Winners Are …

Drumroll, please
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

It is my happy duty to announce the winners of the Autographed Rest Comic Book Contest that I announced last week … as you may recall, Milo Ventimiglia (of Heroes fame) generously signed two copies of issue #1 of his new comic book series Rest for a couple of lucky Pink is the new Blog readers and I asked for folks interested in winning a copy to submit fun Halloween photos for entry in the contest. I randomly selected two submissions from the pool of entries and want to publicly congratulate Jennifer (and her pug Chippy as Yoda) and Gina (who, with her boyfrend Jerry, dressed as JessimoJessica Simpson and Tony Romo):

I hope you all will help me in congratulating these two folks on their win. They will be receiving emails from me this week so I can get the info to mail out their comics. And thank you all so much for participating and submitting your fun photos! Thanks for playing along!!!

Enter To Win An Autographed Copy Of ‘Rest’ #1

Pink is the new Comic
Monday, October 27th, 2008

This past Saturday I was very lucky to be able to attend the Rest comic book launch and in-store appearance at The Golden Apple comic book shop here in LA with Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and comic artist Tim Sale. Milo, very graciously, signed a couple of copies of Rest #1 so that I could give them away to two lucky Pink is the new Blog readers. So it’s contest time, y’all:

Since it’s almost Halloween, I thought it would be fun to do a costume contest where two lucky folks will win a signed comic book each. Each year I ask that Pink readers send in fun costumed photos from their various parties or of their children on their trick-or-treating rounds. This year I will pick two submissions at random and will send those folks each a signed comic book. So, if you would like to enter for your chance to win a comic book, send in a HALLOWEEN PHOTO of you and mebbe some friends, kids, neighbors, family members, pets, whatevs to pinkisthenewblog@gmail.com with the subject line Rest Comic Book Contest. I’m hoping to get a bunch of fun pics so that I can post some of them right here on the site. I will accept submissions until next Monday, November 3 and then I’ll randomly pick two winners to each receive an autographed comic book. After the jump, check out a scan of the second signed comic book up for grabs …

‘Rest’ Stop

The TV Guide
Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Yesterday afternoon I made my way out to The Golden Apple comic book store on Melrose Ave. here in LA for an in-store appearance by Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and comic artist Tim Sale for the launch of their new comic book series Rest. I was very happy to see that a few hundred folks also came out for the comic book release event. Here are a few pics from yesterday’s fun:

When I arrived, the line of folks who came out for the event stretched down the street and around the block, it was very cool. I was fortunate enough to get to hang out with Milo’s best friends Dino and Russ (some of you may know that they, along with Milo, are the founding members of the Divide Social Club) for the duration of the in-store appearance. I got to meet a few Pink readers and, after the event was finished, I also got to snap a pic with Milo himself. After the jump, check out a few more fun pics including a VERY COOL VIDEO of Milo’s arrival at yesterday’s event …

So Dork The ‘Con’ Of Man

San Diego Comic Con is a wrap
Monday, July 28th, 2008

And so … another San Diego Comic Con has come to pass … and as usual, I was out of the country and unable to attend — but there are a lot of fun pictures to check out that will kinda sorta make it feel like I’m part of the experience but, you know, without having to actually endure all the ridiculous costumery in person ;) Here are a few pics of some of the more zealous Comic Con attendees this year:

And here are a few pics of some of the principal stars of the NBC hit Heroes who attended the Con this year to promote the upcoming third season of the show:

Honestly, there are just too many things that were presented at this year’s Con that I can’t possibly post them all … but Entertainment Weekly was in the hiz taking photos of some of my fave sci-fi/comic booky things at this year’s convention to give a nice overview. After the jump, check out a few EW photos of some of my fave things that I would’ve checked out had I attended this year’s Comic Con
