'Puppies Aren't Products'
Rachelle Lefevre Teams Up With Best Friends Animal Society To Save Some Animals

Last month we learned that Twilight star Kellan Lutz teamed up with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to speak out on behalf of their Always Adopt, Never Buy campaign and today we get our first look at ex-Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre‘s similar promo video for the Best Friends Animal Society. Here are a few screencaps:

The message of this PSA is the same as the Always Adopt, Never Buy campaign by PETA … but this one is called Puppies Aren’t Products. It’s nice to see that Lefevre got a new gig so soon after she got the axe from the Twilight movie franchise. After the jump, check out Rachelle Lefevre‘s promo video in full …

Rachelle Lefevre gets a little press BEFORE her firing
The Ladies Of ‘Twilight’ Do ‘Glamour’ Magazine

Twilight stars Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Noot Seear are joined by the ex-Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre in the new issue of Glamour magazine which went to press before the shocking announcement was made that Rachelle has been fired from the movie franchise. Titled Twilight Beauty, the ladies are featured in a photospread that is meant to highlight their natural as well as their made-up beauty … behold:

Clearly the whole piece was shot way before Rachelle was let go from her role in the upcoming third Twilight film Eclipse, cuz she looks way too happy in the photos. Poor thing. After the jump, check out individual photos of the ladies lookin’ all glammed up for the mag …

Take the battle behind the scenes
Rachelle Lefevre & Summit Entertainment Hand Feud Over To The Lawyers

After Rachelle Lefevre, the actress who was originally cast to portray vampire Victoria in Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse but was surprisingly fired from the role and replaced by actress Bryce Dallas Howard this week, publicly voiced her feelings on being axed from the Twilight movie franchise and after Summit Entertainment, the movie studio runnin’ things for the Twilight Saga movie franchise, followed up with their say on the matter … don’t expect to be hearing any further official statements from either camp. According to Marc Malkin at E! News, the battle was been passed over to the lawyers and out of the public spotlight. At this point, Lefevre will pretty much not get the part back … that ain’t happenin’ … but she still wants to get paid because she feels she was unfairly fired and is due her hefty paycheck. Obvs, Summit disagrees … and that is where the feud is at at this point:

Rachelle Lefevre and Summit Entertainment’s fangs are retracting a little bit today—at least in public, that is. I’m told the actress formerly known as Twilight’s Victoria isn’t planning on releasing any more statements … Same for Summit—the corporate lips are sealed. Why? Because now the bloody mess is apparently being hashed out by lawyers. What’s on the table? In short, Lefevre wants her money. Summit is arguing she’s due nothing because the studio insists she’s in breach of contract for signing on for the indie flick Barney’s Version. “Rachelle’s contract says she’s allowed to do smaller projects like Barney’s Version,” one source said. Meanwhile, her Twilight and New Moon costars are “devastated,” said another source. “As nice and lovely as Bryce [Dallas Howard] is, they feel like a family member has been taken from them.” But don’t expect them to go public with too much anti-Summit talk. As my gossiping cohorts over at The Awful Truth point out, Lefevre’s dismissal sends a very strong message—or warning—not to mess with the studio. Sources also tell me that shortly after Summit announced Lefevre’s dismissal, the rest of the cast was told not to elaborate on the circumstances to the media, beyond repeating that it was due to a scheduling conflict. “But that was before the Rachelle and Summit statements yesterday,” a Twilight insider said. “Who knows what they’ll ask them to say now.”

While it must’ve felt really good for both parties to bitch out the other in public, the best thing would’ve been if the matter had been handed off to the lawyers from the start. In the public she said/they said battle, Lefevre comes out lookin’ better … she looks like the poor actress who was mistreated by the big bad corporation. Summit‘s decision to publicly attack her only made them look worse. If Lefevre‘s contract really does allow her to work on other films in addition to the Twilight films (which would make sense because Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner have that stipulation in their contracts) then Summit is prolly going to pay up. My guess is we’ll never hear about it officially. Once monies are paid out, there’s usually a part of the deal that bars either side from talking specifics. I’m totally on Team Rachelle. IMHO, she got the shaft. I hope she’ll get her money even if she will never get the part back.

She is "stunned" and "saddened" that she's been fired
Rachelle Lefevre Releases A Statement About Being Fired From ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

I KNEW IT! I mother-effing knew it! Early Wednesday we learned that Summit Entertainment announced that actress Rachelle Lefevre has been replaced by actress Bryce Dallas Howard in the role of evil vampire Victoria for the third Twilight movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Summit explained that Rachelle was not able to fulfill the role of Victoria in Eclipse due to “scheduling conflicts” so they instead decided to hire Bryce in her place. At the time we heard the news, I KNEW that the “scheduling conflict” explanation was bullshit … and it turns out that I was right. Lefevre has issued an official statement on her firing and explains, in her words, how “stunned” and “saddened” she was to learn that she was fired from the role she originated. Here is the full text of her official statement:

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to Barney’s Version is only 10 days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part. I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.”

I SOOOOO knew it. Scheduling conflicts my ASS! There’s no way Summit couldn’t make the 10 days she would spend on the other film not work into the Eclipse shooting schedule. Summit must’ve LEAPED at the chance to hire Bryce Dallas Howard in her place because of who she is. It’s pretty damn gross that they would be so blatant about it. I feel so bad for Rachelle Lefevre because she really was great in the role of Victoria. Eclipse would’ve been her time to shine as Victoria‘s role is more pronounced in that installment. Damn … the other Twilight actors better watch their backs. Who knows who else might get the axe should Summit Entertainment decide to replace them for a bigger name actor.

UPDATE: Summit Entertainment has issued their own official statement in response to Lefevre‘s statement, here it is in full:

“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts. Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August. If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production. Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production. Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story. The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.” –Summit Entertainment

Oh snap … the studio doesn’t seem too happy at Rachelle‘s comments on her firing but, to be honest, I still believe her. It’s way too convenient that Rachelle gets the boot and Summit gets the benefit of Bryce Dallas Howard stepping in to fill the role. And the fact that they kept the casting change a secret until after Rachelle did her duty and appeared at 2009 San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend is totally dubious. I still call bullshit on Summit‘s shady dealings with their actors. Again I warn the Twilight cast, watch yer backs.

Rachelle Lefevre gets the boot, Bryce is the new vamp Victoria
Bryce Dallas Howard Joins The Cast Of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

Surprising movie casting news for fans of the Twilight Saga films to pass along today … for some unknown reason, it has been decided by the powers that be at Summit Entertainment that Rachelle Lefevre be FIRED and Bryce Dallas Howard be hired in her place to play the role of the evil vampire Victoria in the third Twilight movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The surprise casting news comes completely out of the blue, but straight from the horse’s mouth. Rachelle is dunzo as Victoria, Bryce takes over the role when filming of Eclipse begins next month:

Bryce Dallas Howard is joining the “Twilight” franchise. The “Terminator Salvation” star will replace Rachelle Lefevre in the role of Victoria, according to Summit Entertainment, which produces the vampire film series based on the books by Stephenie Meyer. “We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions, said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “Rachelle brought ‘Victoria’ to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

Summit said Rachelle would not be continuing on as Victoria, an evil vampire out for revenge over the death of her lover, due to scheduling conflicts. Bryce, the daughter of director Ron Howard, will take over the role beginning in “Eclipse,” the third installment in the “Twilight” series. “Eclipse” begins filming in Vancouver this coming August, Summit confirmed. The film will be released in theaters on June 30, 2010.

Whoa!! This is totally out of the blue … and without any real explanation. To me, it seems as if one of two things happened here … either Summit jumped at the chance of hiring a big name actress to add to the movie franchise (presumably to get more people interested in the Twilight phenomenon — as if that is even possible) or Rachelle did something to really piss off her bosses and she was summarily fired from the role. Mebbe both things happened (cuz I really DO NOT BELIEVE that Rachelle is not available for the role due to “scheduling conflicts” — that’s a bullshizz story if I ever heard one) … but my gut tells me that the studio decided to sign on a more well-known actress who prolly expressed interest and felt no qualms about axing the “no name” actress who originated the role. To be honest, I thought Rachelle Lefevre did an amazing job as Victoria in Twilight and it sucks that she would be treated so terribly by the studio. Still, this is Hollywood and these things happen all the time. I wonder if we should expect any other cast changes as well. What do y’all think about this … good news or bad?

Au revoir, Canada?
‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Wraps In Vancouver?

The Twilight Saga: New Moon stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were joined by castmates Rachelle Lefevre (who plays the bad vamp Victoria), Cameron Bright (who plays even badder Volturi vamp Alec) and others for what is being described as a wrap party at Bluewater Cafe in Vancouver, BC Canada. Now, I’m not really sure if this was indeed a wrap party or not but many members of the Twilight gang were in the hiz to do a little celebratin’:

It seems way too early for the New Moon production to pack up and roll out of Vancouver but what do I know? Still, I don’t really believe that this party was a production wrap party because Taylor Lautner was nowhere to be seen (perhaps he was off skipping around town?). Whatever was going on there, the Bluewater Cafe sounds like it’s THE place to be in Vancouver to meet the stars of New Moon. I wonder if the food is as appetizing as the atmosphere.

Jane says
Dakota Fanning Surfaces In Vancouver With The ‘New Moon’ Gang

Dakota Fanning, who has been cast to play the Volturi vampire Jane in the upcoming film The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has finally made her way to Vancouver, BC Canada to begin filming her scenes for the movie. Earlier this week Dakota was spotted in the company of Rachelle Lefevre who plays the badgirl vamp Victoria in the film (a role she originated in Twilight) making their way out to the Blue Water Cafe for a quick bite to eat together:

And so … at long last … Dakota has joined in the fun in Vancouver where various New Moon castmembers have been making the city their playground. I expect that Dakota will be showing up around town about as much as the other castmembers have been (ie. on a semi-daily basis) but it remains to be seen if she will be sparking up any onset romances while she is in town. I’m not sure who is available but do YOU think that Dakota will be hooking up with a nice young man so that we can all talk about it? If so … who?
