Last night members of the Screen Actors Guild made their way out to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA to attend and revel in the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. As we learned earlier today, Betty White was honored at the SAG Awards last night with the Lifetime Achievement Award but there were many other awards handed out last night. The Screen Actors Guild Awards are voted on by members of the Screen Actors Guild so, essentially, the actors themselves decide who gave the most award-winning performances of the year. Except for the Academy Awards, I believe the SAG Award is the most coveted by actors because they are given by the actors themselves. Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds took home the top award last night for the Best Ensemble Performance Award (Film) while Glee took home the award for Best Ensemble Performance Award (Television Comedy) and Mad Men took home the award for Best Ensemble Performance Award (Television Drama). Ever since news broke back in early October that Quentin Tarantino has started early production of a new Kill Bill movie, I have been eagerly awaiting any news at all about the project. A couple weeks after the first new Kill Bill news came out, star Uma Thurman spoke a tiny bit about the project but really had no new news to pass along. Today we learn that Tarantino is talking about the project again … but is making clear that the next Kill Bill film will most likely not be titled Kill Bill … presumably because Bill was killed in the last film:

Few months ago, Quentin Tarantino has shared his plan to make “Kill Bill 3″. As the villain, Bill, was dead at the end of Volume 2, the director has decided to change the title of the upcoming movie. “It wouldn’t be ‘Kill Bill’,” he told MTV. “It would be Volume 3 of the story of the Bride.” Though so, the third “Kill Bill” film will not be happening soon as Tarantino still has another upcoming movie project. “There’s no script, there are just ideas and notes. I won’t do that next, but it could very well be the thing I do after next,” he stated. Assuring that the movie will definitely happen, he added, “We’re getting there. We’re about one movie away.” Previously, Uma Thurman has said that she is ready to reprise her role as The Bride. However, Tarantino believed he should give her ten years off before she is back in the action film. “One, I think me and Uma [Thurman] needed a ten year break,” the Academy Award-winning director shared the reason behind the wait. “And the second one, I love the character and I think she deserves ten years of peace,” he continued explaining. “She deserves ten years of no fighting, she deserves ten years with her child Beebe. I put her through a lot in those first two movies and I just want her to have a nice peaceful life for ten years.”

Grrr … it sucks that we have at least a full year more to wait before this movie really goes into production but I’m thrilled that Tarantino keeps talking about it. I think it totally makes sense to rename the third movie considering Bill and all of his assassins (save for Elle Driver) have been eliminated by The Bride/Black Mamba, Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman). I am DYING to see what Tarantino comes up with for the next film … will Bebe play an integral part? How about Vernita Green‘s daughter (who bore witness to her mother’s murder at the hands of Beatrix Kiddo)? Maybe those two girls will go at it in the next film? Ugh … the anticipation may kill me … but we’ve waited this long for a new film, I suppose we can wait a bit longer … right?

Last night Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Eli Roth and others were joined by family and friends at the Los Angeles premiere of their new film Inglourious Basterds at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA. Angelina Jolie held court with Pitt and managed to show-off a few new tattoos on her person. Here are a few pics from last night’s movie premiere:

Angelina Jolie is never anything but slim and toned. But she looked impossibly slender as she joined partner Brad Pitt on the red carpet for the premiere of his new film Inglourious Basterds last night. The 34-year-old actress wore an unforgiving leather mini dress, which clung to her fragile frame as she stood alongside tanned and healthy-looking Brad. Angelina also showed off new additions to her tattoo collection – swirls around the existing body art on her arms. Last night was Brad and Angelina’s first public appearance since they walked the red carpet at Cannes in May. The couple, whose relationship has been the subject of repeated rumours in recent months, made a show of togetherness as they embraced on the red carpet. But while Angelina was greeting everyone with a large Hollywood smile, Brad looked less comfortable. Of course, it may well have been the stress of weeks of heavy promotional duties for his new movie, which have seen him repeatedly away from his family. While Brad was promoting the film Angelina remained at home with Maddox, 8, Pax, 5, Zahara, 4, Shiloh, 3, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 1. But, ever the professional, Brad patiently signed autographs for the huge crowds of fans waiting for him and Angelina. He then led the mother of his six children through the crowd by her arm, his teeth set as he negotiated the busy red carpet.

As you may already be well aware, Inglourious Basterds is the American-Hunting-Nazi film that was directed by Quentin Tarantino and opens in theaters on August 21. Hollywood is really having a field day with all that WWII era Nazi films these days so hopefully this one will be the last … at least for a while. To be honest, my interest level in this film was much higher when it was first announced last October but it has since waned in the past few months. I think the trailers that feature Brad Pitt speaking in that horrid Southern drawl is what has been turning me off. David has mentioned that he is very much interested in seeing this film so we’ll prolly end up seeing it after all. I can’t remember the last Brad Pitt movie that I liked … mebbe this will be the one.
