The Project Runway: All-Star Challenge aired at 8PM, the first ep of the new season of PR aired at 10PM and the new series Models of the Runway aired at 11PM — it was a full night of Project Runway fun! After the jump, check out some of my musings from last night’s TV so as to keep the spoilers out of sight for those of you who have yet to watch the eps …

I think the biggest relief from new season of Project Runway was how much it looked exactly like the previous eps of PR. The graphics, the music, the scene transitions — the new PR looks exactly like the old PR. The All-Star Challenge was fun but it felt a little lacking for me. Santino Rice, who I love, seemed intent on overpowering the show with his over-the-top attitude … it was not entertaining. The interaction between the designers was pretty boring as well. I was so impressed by Chris March’s showing in last night’s competition. Altho he slept thru what looked like 60% of the show, he managed to design some pretty fantastic looks. BUT, I was kinda pissed that Korto ended up losing to Daniel V. I totally felt her collection looked much more stylish than Daniel’s did … but, c’est la vie.

The new Project Runway, which was filmed last Summer in LA, was really fun. Sure, we need to warm up to the new designers (just like we have to every season) but overall, PR hasn’t lost it’s touch at all. Thank gods!! I don’t have any faves just yet so it’ll be fun to watch and see who will become my faves of season 6. The new series Models of the Runway is a cute little weekly bonus. It allows fans to see another side of the competition that we’ve previously not been privy to. I dunno that it’ll be as big a draw as PR is but, as I said, it’s a nice bonus. I am very relieved that Lifetime has put so much effort in making the Project Runway transition to their network as seamless as possible. I think fans will be very pleased with the results. It may still take some time to get the audience transferred over to the new network but if they continue to provide the same Project Runway goodness that we’ve come to expect, we’ll keep tuning in. It’s GREAT to have the show back on the air :)

I have a few things to do in the city this afternoon (blech, it is just as hot outside today as it was yesterday) and tonight I’m heading out to see Hair on Broadway. Happy weekend!!

Hell YES … Lifetime TV is really makin’ it work with this latest video. When season 6 debuts on Lifetime TV on August 20 it really look like the show will continue as if no time had taken place (altho much time has taken place) since season 5 bowed on Bravo TV. Not only is Lindsay Lohan appearing as a guest judge (as you can see in the screencaps above) but there will also be a mystery judge who is only described as a “five-time Grammy winner”. HMMMMMM. Who could it be now? I guess we’ll just have to tune in to find out for ourselves. After the jump, check out the official trailer for Project Runway season 6 in full …

This almost 4 minute video is a compilation of 8 short promo commercials which will air on Lifetime in the weeks leading up to the premiere of Project Runway season 6 next month. Each segment introduces two designers at a time. These beyotches are all chummy friends in the beginning and then … the claws come out. I can’t wait. We fans of Project Runway have been forced to wait far too long for this new season of the show … I am dying to get the party started. August 20th can’t get here soon enough for me.

OOOOOOH … I’m getting excited now. For the most part thus far, things look very similar to the way Project Runway was presented on Bravo TV. I mean, I know there will be a few changes on the new network (especially with a new production company putting the show together) but I think they are very wise to keep the look and feel of the show as close to the original format that we’ve seen in the first 5 seasons. It’s really impossible to judge the designers from just their photos (tho, Ari Fish has got a bit of a Samantha Ronson vibe goin’ on in her bio photo) … I remember liking Kenley Collins from the first photo of her I saw, little did I know she’d turn into the evil little troll she’d become on the show (also, who would’ve guessed that she would be arrested to assaulting her fiancée with a computer and a cat?). It remains to be seen if any of these nascent contestants will have any legal troubles of their own any time in the future … but this first look at the new batch of designers really gets me amped for the new season of the show. August 20th on Lifetime! Be there or be … elsewhere.

I do love the poster … but it is the stills that are most interesting to me. I love them … and I think longtime fans of Project Runway will love them as well. After the jump, check them out …

The thing that struck me the most about these stills from the new season of Project Runway is how much everything looks like the older seasons of Project Runway. Lifetime is not yet ready to show off what the designers look like but these are familiar faces that we all know and really love. Host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and fabulous judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors. If these stills are any indication, then the new season of PR will still have the same feel of the previous seasons that we all adore so much. I am very much heartened from this first look at the new season. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Project Runway when it premieres on its new network Lifetime on August 20th!

The site also features a new promo video for the show which attempts to hype up fans for the show … but IMHO, falls well off the mark. The video features “regular people” talking about how much they love the show and only features brief appearances by hosts Heidi Klum and Time Gunn. There are NO appearances by any of the contestants or any footage from the upcoming season. It’s not a great promo video, in my estimation, but something is better than nothing I suppose. At last, we have a date to look forward to. I’m not entirely sure why Lifetime is waiting so long to air the series tho. I understand that filming of the 6th season began late last Summer so an August air date would be about one year since the show was filmed … in the world of fashion, that’s a lifetime (pardon the pun). I’m sure there are many logistics involved but it would make more sense to me to get the show on the air as soon as possible while filming the next season for air as soon as possible. Bravo ended up airing 3 seasons of PR all in the same year … that’s the smart way to do it. But, no matter, August 20 it is … so we must wait. I just hope the delay doesn’t end up hurting the show. It already has so many strikes against it, I don’t know that it needs another. We shall see.

The application for Project Runway is 20 pages long, is due by next week and can be downloaded HERE … interested folks should get crackin’ if they hope to make it on the show. I’m encouraged that production on the next season is getting started … now, if we could just find out when season 6 of Project Runway will air on TV, I’d be all set. I really hope that Lifetime doesn’t drop the ball on this series. Now that they can legally air the show, I don’t know what they are waiting for … air the damn thing already. Making Project Runway fans wait any longer than they have to for new stuff is not a good way to win the favor of the fanbase.

In other Project Runway-related news, former contestant and season 5 loser Kenley Collins’s day of reckoning has finally come to pass. As you may recall, Kenley was recently arrested for assaulting her ex-fiancée Zac Penley with various items (including a cat) after the couple argued or something (Penley was sleeping when he was allegedly assaulted by Kenley). Boo! The beyotch got off with a small fine and a slap on wrist:

It looks like Kenley Collins has got as many lives as the cat she was alleged to have hurled at her fiance. The Project Runway star was originally charged with felony assualt for lobbing the kitty at Zac Penley at their New York apartment. But today she walked out of court with nothing more than a $120 dollar fine and a two-year restraining order. The moody designer was allegeded to have chucked the feline at her now-former fiance, Zac Penley, while he was asleep last month — followed by a computer, a few apples and some water. At an earlier hearing she pleaded not guilty to the second degree felony assault and argued that she’d just set the cat down on a comforter — so a Brooklyn judge told Kenley that the charge would probably be reduced to a misdemeanor. But she got away even more lightly than that. According to E! News, Kenley was allowed to plead guilty on April 14 to a count of “disorderly conduct” — which is considered a violation and not a crime, so it won’t go on her record. The judge gave her a $120 ticket and an order that stops her from having contact with her former fiance for two years. The site reports that the district attorney said the sentence was reduced because Penley received no medical treatment and the cat did no serious injury to him.

Blah. What a joke. I think if someone is stupid enough to throw a cat at someone then they should have the book thrown at them. Tho, I can’t say that I’m really surprised. Let’s hope that Kenley has learned a lesson from all of this and that she refrains from attacking other people in the future. Should we never hear from her again, I’d be totally fine with that, too.

NBC Universal, The Weinstein Company and Lifetime have resolved their disputes. The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All of the parties are pleased with the outcome. Harvey Weinstein added, “I want to personally congratulate Jeff Zucker and NBCU on their success in the litigation and thank Jeff for resolving this in a professional manner. We look forward to working together on our ongoing projects.”

I realize that in my excitement and in my haste to pass along this information I could be falling for the cruelest of pranks but the statement was sent to me by an NBC Universal employee and I can’t (well, don’t wanna) believe that something like this would be used as a joke. I will update with any news from confirming sources as soon as I can. I have to believe that this matter has finally been resolved ‘cuz I am dying for another season of Project Runway. It remains to be seen when we will be able to see the show on the air again but I’m crossing my fingers that it will be soon. We shall see.

UPDATE: The LA Times confirms the story, the disputing parties have settled to let Project Runway make the move to Lifetime:

According to a statement issued by NBC Universal today, the dispute is over because the Weinstein Company has agreed to pay NBCU for the right to move the popular reality series to Lifetime. “All of the parties are pleased with the outcome,” NBC Universal said in a statement. We look forward to working together on our ongoing projects” … Andrea Wong, president and CEO of Lifetime Networks, who fought hard to land the show, issued the following statement: “I couldn’t be more excited that Lifetime will bring its viewers an amazing, all-new season of ‘Project Runway’ this summer.
