Ahoy there, Capt.
Johnny Depp Gets Back Into Character

Yesterday we played a little game of Guess Who with Johnny Depp and his braids and today we get to see new photos of Depp in costume as Captain Jack Sparrow on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides:

Even tho we got our first look at Johnny as Jack back in early July, these new photos show that production is in full-swing. I’m sure it won’t be long before we get to see official promo photos and posters with a teaser trailer likely ready for release by Xmas. Yo Ho Ho, bitches … here we go again.

Booze Hounds or Love Birds?
Johnny Depp & Penélope Cruz Rehearse On The Set Of ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’

On Wednesday we got our first look at new co-stars Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz filming their first scenes together on the Hawiian set of the upcoming sequel film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Today we get to see the pair on set again but this time they are rehearsing a scene out of costume aboard their pirate ship. Judging by these photos, it looks like Johnny and Penélope will have no trouble finding the right romantic chemistry to work together on this film:

Penelope Cruz has been getting used to life on the ocean waves by rehearsing with her Pirates Of The Caribbean co-star Johnny Depp onboard ship. Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, could be seen teaching Penelope some rather steamy dance moves too as she got her sealegs. Penelope, 36, makes her debut in the movie franchise in the fourth instalment: On Stranger Tides, which has just started filming in Hawaii. The Spanish sexbomb – who in real life, married long-term love and fellow actor Javier Bardem earlier this month – plays Angelica, Jack Sparrow’s love interest. She could be seen smooching on the vessel with Depp, who was brandishing a goblet and a bottle of what was presumably rum. At some points, the pair seemed as if they might be about to kiss as they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes. Depp – in character as Captain Jack, though not in costume – could also be seen raising a toast to his dark beauty. With Depp leading what may well have been a tango, he twirled his partner around the deck, sending Cruz’s long locks flying. But then it seemed as if things got nasty between the pair, with Depp grabbing Cruz in a headlock – while still holding onto his all important bottle of rum. However, they were all smiles with each other once the rehearsal had finished and out of their salty seadog characters.

It’s not totally clear if the ship they are rehearsing on is the Black Pearl or if it is some other ship but it is clear by these photos that Captain Jack Sparrow is hoping to turn the ship into the Love Boat. It’s unsurprising that Penélope‘s character will shun Capt. Jack’s romantic advances but, in fine Hollywood style, Angelica will undoubtedly fall in love with Jack.

Joins star Johnny Depp on the Hawaiian set
Penélope Cruz Films First Scenes For ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’

Last Friday we got to see a fun teaser vid clip, which was released at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, featuring Johnny Depp in character as Captain Jack Sparrow to promote the upcoming sequel film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Today we get to see a couple photos from the Hawaiian set of the film which feature Johnny filming scenes with his new Pirates co-star (and newly married) Penélope Cruz. Incidentally, these photos of Penélope are the first of her in public since news broke that she secretly married Javier Bardem earlier this month:

Johnny Depp promised that the forthcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean film would feature a ‘vicious and vivacious’ Penelope Cruz. But the Spanish actress was looking positively swashbuckling on the Hawaiian set of the new movie yesterday. The 36-year-old was decked out in a pirate’s hat, knee length boots and long maroon coat as she filmed alongside Depp on the sunshine island of Maui. It was the first time fans have seen Cruz since she secretly wed her long-term boyfriend Javier Bardem in a ceremony in the Bahamas earlier this month. But after a relaxing honeymoon it’s back to work for the actress, who will play Angelica, daughter of the evil Pirate Blackbeard (British actor Ian McShane). Few clues have been given about the film’s plot, although Depp, in Captain Jack Sparrow’s battered leathers, boots, bandanna and dreadlocked wig, was seen being blindfolded on the set as he prepared for a scene. The action will follow Angelica as she forces Sparrow aboard Blackbeard’s ship the Queen Anne’s Revenge. As he embarks on the unexpected adventure, Sparrow is left uncertain whether to fall for Angelica or if she’s actually a ruthless con artist who is using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.

I really love that Penélope has been cast in this latest Pirates film … I think she will make a fantastic addition to the franchise. To be honest, I don’t even want to know what is going on in this scene … I’m all for plot teases while a movie is being filmed but sometimes I don’t want to know anything at all this early in production. I like the Pirates films but I’m not crazy in love with them. I think I will enjoy this film much more if I remain as unspoiled as possible. I wonder if Penélope‘s new hubby Javier will be visiting her on set anytime soon … it would be nice to see the newlyweds together in public for the first time, don’tcha think?

Yo-Ho-Ho!
Johnny Depp Teases ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ At Comic-Con

On Wednesday we got to see a teaser photo of Johnny Depp on the Hawaiian set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides but attendees of 2010 San Diego Comic-Con got an extra special treat from Mr. Depp. Folks who were at the Disney panel discussion for Tron: Legacy were treated to a teaser video from Johnny Depp in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow to hype up the next Pirates film:

As a surprise for attendees exiting the Tron Legacy panel, Disney showed a special teaser for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, now shooting in Hawaii. Johnny Depp appeared as Captain Jack Sparrow in full 3D, sitting on the beach with a bottle of rum and speaking directly to the Comic-Con audience. He told everyone that it certainly wasn’t the case that he would soon be embarking on a quest to find the fountain of youth but that, even if he were, he wouldn’t be looking for a crew. But, if he did, would anyone in the audience be interested? He promised that such an adventure would include “zombies, cutthroats, mermaids and… Penelope Cruz” and that it would be the kind of quest that would require “A bloody map. Or a bloody Mary. Or both.”

I think some folks were expecting to see some sort of promo from Pirates 4 but I don’t think they were expecting to see it at the Tron: Legacy Panel. I’m just happy that the folks who attend Comic-Con are really good at capturing pretty much EVERY bit if information that is made available at a second’s notice. After the jump, check out the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides teaser video that was shown yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con

Jerry Bruckheimer Shares A New Photo Of Captain Jack Sparrow

Filming continues in Hawaii on the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequel film On Stranger Tides and producer Jerry Bruckheimer has shared a cool new photo on his official Twitter profile of Johnny Depp as Pirates protagonist Captain Jack Sparrow on the set of the film:

On location in Hawaii….CAPTAIN JACK IS BACK. Pirates of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides, coming Summer 2011

As you may recall, Bruckheimer posted the first photos from the Pirates set in Hawaii on his official Twitter profile back in June but this photo is his first posed photo which seems like it was shot specifically for fans on Twitter. I know there are a lot of y’all really excited for this movie so you might want to follow Jerry Bruckheimer on Twitter so you can get all the info directly from him. This is a very cool photo, I hope we get to see more like it as filming continues.

Reporting for duty on 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'
Johnny Depp Steps Into His Captain Jack Sparrow Garb Again

A couple of weeks ago we got to see the first photos from the Hawaiian set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which has finally begun filming production and today we get to see the first photos of actor Johnny Depp in full costume on set as Captain Jack Sparrow:

The countdown to the eagerly-awaited fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film has begun after Johnny Depp started filming in Hawaii. The 47-year-old was back in his battered leathers, boots, bandanna and dreadlocked wig to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in On Stranger Tides. The actor was reportedly offered a $50million salary to reprise his role as the the seafaring hero for a fourth time. Notably absent from the third sequel is Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. Fans will know Bloom’s character Will was killed off in the last movie, At World’s End after a fight with Davy Jones (Bill Nighy). Instead, audiences will be treated to another stunning female co-star for Depp – Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, 36. The film will be something of a reunion for Cruz and Depp, who played lovers in 2001 film Blow. Also providing eye candy for male audiences is Australian supermodel Gemma Ward, 22, as a mermaid. Another new addition to the cast is English actor Ian McShane, who will play 18th century pirate Blackbeard. Blackbeard was a real-life pirate from Bristol, whose real name was Edward Teach. The pirate was greatly feared by seamen at the height of his piracy in 1713 and 1718, when he sailed the seven seas on his ship Queen Anne’s Revenge … On Stranger Tides sees Captain Jack crossing paths with Angelica (Cruz), a sexy woman from his past. Unsure of whether she genuinely feels for him or is a con artist using him to search for the fountain of youth, Captain Jack is forced onto Queen Anne’s Revenge – Blackbeard’s famous ship. Jack finds himself torn between who to fear more – Blackbeard or Angelica.

Dude, for $50 million it’s no wonder that Johnny was happy to get back into costume for another Pirates film. Tho, I have to say that I doubt very much that this 4th film will be as successful as the previous 3 films were. I mean, I bet it’ll do well but I have a hard time believing it will generate as much money at the box office … but, what the hell do I know? I didn’t believe a movie based on a ride at Disneyland would be a success and it turned into a megamillion dollar movie franchise! Jack‘s back, ready or not. Are you excited?

The first pics from the 'Pirates 4' set
‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Begins Production

Initial filming production has officially gotten underway on the Hawaiian set of the upcoming sequel film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides as a couple of on set photos have made their way to Twitter … courtesy of Jerry Bruckheimer and his official Twitter account. These first photos don’t show much but they are a sign that things are starting to happen on set and that Pirates 4 will soon become a reality:

Jerry Bruckheimer has taken it to his Twitter to inform that the principal photography for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” has been kicked off on Thursday, June 17 in Hawaii. Along with the announcement, the producer has posted several on-set pics … [T]wo shots capture the chairs for the crew and cast members, with one of shots revealing the possible logo of the movie. Johnny Depp, who is set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, has not been spotted on the set. In this fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise, he will share screen with new cast members such as Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Sam Claflin and Stephen Graham. The story will follow the eccentric pirate as he tries to find the fountain of youth. Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott provide the script while Walt Disney Pictures has set May 20, 2011 as the day when this action comedy flick will be distributed in the U.S.

I know there are a great many folks out there who are very excited that the salty Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow so this is very likely good knows for those peeps. I, for one, have enjoyed the Pirates films — some more than others — and while I’m not chomping at the bit for another Pirates film, I think I can get on board again if it turns out alright. It’s very early in production but you know how these things go … it won’t be long until we see something more substantial from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Are YOU excited?

Scheduled for a 2011 release
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Films This Summer

Happy news for fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise (and for Johnny Depp fans in particular) … the 4th installment of the series is a go and is scheduled to begin filming this Summer for a 2011 release. This new fourth film has already been given its name … get yourselves ready for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides:

Disney has its heading, and they’ve presumably soothed Johnny Depp after Dick Cook’s departure because Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set to sail. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fourth Pirates installment is scheduled to begin shooting this summer in Hawaii, and Rob Marshall will take the wheel as previously rumored. Depp is the only cast member confirmed to be on board, and the film is aiming for a summer 2011 release date. For awhile it seemed as though Pirates 4 was going to be shoved aside in favor of The Lone Ranger. But that proved to be idle rumor (or hopeful, depending on whether you prefer Tonto to Sparrow), and they decided to go with the tried and unsteady Captain Jack instead. It’s believed he’ll be chasing the Fountain of Youth this time, as indicated by the sequel grab in At World’s End, and they’ve optioned Tim Powers’ novel to give them an idea or two. Of course, it’s only January. A lot can happen between now and summertime, especially to a fourth installment of a franchise, and particularly when the third installment wasn’t very enjoyable. Perhaps Disney and Marshall will be unable to decide on a villain, or the budget will skyrocket higher than the studio likes. With all this talk of angst and Twilight, will the teens and tweens still spend their money on a drunk pirate, even if he wears eyeliner? Come March, we could have a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot that’ll focus on Jack Sparrow’s teen years and his struggle to find his sea legs. All bets are off with these things, especially if there’s a spin-off series just ripe for adaptation.

MOTHEREFFING HELL!! This article is SO right … it is entirely feasible that Disney could decide to reboot the entire franchise (much like studio bosses have decided to do with the Spider-Man franchise) and tell lame-ass films on a young Ensign Jack Sparrow in his younger years. My gut tells me that Disney isn’t that stupid, tho. As much as I didn’t really love the last film, I am looking forward to this new one. I guess I never realized how much I liked the Pirates films until they were gone for a few years. I’m glad to see that they aren’t wasting any time either … I think it’s perfectly reasonable to wait until next year for this new film. What do y’all think … who’s excited?
