First Look: Amanda Seyfried As Linda Lovelace

As you may know, there are 2 competing films being made in Hollywood right now that focus on the tragic yet true life story of 1970′s porn star Linda Lovelace. The film titled Inferno will star Malin Ackerman in the lead role (altho, Lindsay Lohan was initially considered for the partbefore she got fired and replaced) and the other film, simply titled Lovelace, will star Amanda Seyfried as the lead. Entertainment Weekly brings us our first look at Amanda as Linda and if you know anything about Lovelace‘s tragic life story, you’ll realize that the photo below is from one of the few happy times in her life. Check it out.

Sadly, the Film is getting Bad Reviews :(
‘Green Lantern’ Premieres In LA

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were joined by their co-stars as well as friends and family at the Hollywood premiere of their new film Green Lantern, which opens in theaters tomorrow. Grauman’s Chinese Theater was the site of last night’s affair and the red black carpet was packed with lots of GL fans. Unfortch, tho, as the release date gets closer, more and more less than favorable reviews keep coming out for the film … which kinda sucks cuz I really want this movie to be awesome. Click below to check out some photos from last night’s premiere before you (possibly) check out Green Lantern in the theaters tomorrow.

Gyllenhaal Family Reunion
Jake Gyllenhaal Hangs Out With His Family In NYC

Last weekend we saw photos of Jake Gyllenhaal clean-shaven and soaking up the sun here in SoCal. Today we get to see photos of Jake growing out his beard again as he freezes his buns off in NYC. Jakey poo made his way back East to meet up with his family — mother Naomi Foner, sister Maggie Gyllenhaal and bro-in-law Peter Sarsgaard — to attend the off-Broadway opening of Three Sisters which stars his big sis and her husband. It was a good ol’ fashioned Gyllenhaal family reunion.

The Cast Of ‘Green Lantern’ Assembles At 2010 Comic-Con

Earlier today we got to see the first photos of the principal cast of the Marvel Comics film The Avengers assembled together at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con yesterday afternoon and right now we get to see the principal cast of the DC Comics film Green Lantern also assembled at Comic-Con yesterday as well. As you should be well aware by now, Ryan Reynolds plays the lead hero Hal Jordan/Green Lantern alongside Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and villains Mark Strong as Sinestro and Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond. Here is our first look at all of these actors together on stage at Comic-Con yesterday afternoon:

Ryan Reynolds says he took the title role in “Green Lantern” to play a hero that can “throw a punch, tell a joke and kiss a girl.” The actor, along with castmates Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong and director Martin Campbell, presented a clip from the film at Comic-Con Saturday for some 6,000 ecstatic fans, many of whom camped out overnight for a chance to see the presentation. Campbell says the 3-D movie blends realistic action with humor and an otherworldly trip to the planet Oa, home of the Green Lanterns. He added that while the hero’s costume is “a work in progress,” his cinematic story is set: He is joined by his fellow Green Lanterns for a face-off against Parallax, whom Reynolds describes as “the physical manifestation of fear in our movie.” The clip showed Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who, after a fight with street thugs, takes the Green Lantern oath and uses his new powers to blow them away. Reynolds recited the oath for the Comic-Con crowd, which rewarded him with cheers. The cast seemed to embrace the Comic-Con energy, and revealed which characters they’d dress up with if they could walk the convention floor. Reynolds would go as a Wookie because he likes to “be cute and dangerous.” Lively would dress as Harry Potter and Sarsgaard would go as Captain America. Strong said he’d dress as his “Green Lantern” character, Sinestro. DC Comics chief Geoff Johns hinted that other Green Lantern films, and a Justice League movie, could follow: “The success of ‘Green Lantern’ will lead the charge for everything DC does.”

It’s really cool to see the principal castmembers all assembled together … I have high hopes that Green Lantern will be a big enough smash film that DC Comics will move forward with films based on their other iconic superheroes … like The Flash and Wonder Woman! If Green Lantern does well, I’m certain plans will move forward to make other DC superhero films leading up to an eventual Justice League film. I think they got the casting so right for Green Lantern, I can’t wait to see Mark Strong as Sinestro. I just want to see more, more, more … thankfully we only have to wait ’til next year to see Green Lantern on the big screen.

First Look: Peter Sarsgaard As Hector Hammond In ‘Green Lantern’

Back in January we learned that Peter Sarsgaard has been cast as evil villain Dr. Hector Hammond in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the Green Lantern comic book. Today, we get our first look at the super-brainy Hammond in the flesh in this photo of Sarsgaard on the Louisiana set of Green Lantern last week:

Green Lantern is one of those superhero movies that could kind of go either way, tonally speaking. The character’s a cocky test pilot with a magic ring and a frisky love-hate relationship with his boss, which sounds like an Iron Man-ish bouncy action-comedy. But Green Lantern’s got a history of dark story arcs, the sort of stuff that lends itself more to Dark Knight-style grit. Well, we’ve gotten some insight into the nature of the movie. On the strength of this picture, which shows Peter Sarsgaard in makeup to play GL nemesis Hector Hammond, I’d say we’re looking at a category 5 Tornado of Horrifying Grotesquerie. I’m not sure what freaks me out more: the fact that his brain looks ready to punch through his forehead, or the fact that he appears to have committed the cardinal sin of growing a mustache without really COMMITTING to it. The neck fat doesn’t help. (Admittedly, Sarsgaard may look less freaky when he’s actually in costume, though I like the idea of a supervillain who walks around in a T-shirt.) Besides the fact that I will be unable to sleep for weeks, this photo makes me a teensy bit excited for next year’s Green Lantern.

Yeesh!! Yes … this make-up looks gross enough to be very cool. Those of you familiar with the Green Lantern comic book know that Dr. Hammond gets a big head after he exposes himself to radiation from a meteor he finds in the woods … in exchange for a super big and very veiny head, Hammond gets telekinetic powers and immortality. After the jump, check out a closer look at Sarsgaard‘s Hammond make-up to see just what price the character pays for superpowers …

Raising money for Haiti
Celebs Come Out To See Radiohead In Concert

On Friday we learned that Radiohead had announced a last minute, impromptu live concert performance at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA to raise money for Haitian relief. The tickets were sold via Ticketmaster by auction and the show took place last night. A few celebs, like couples Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard and Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer came out for the show which, according to LAist, raised over half a million dollars for the people of Haiti:

Late Thursday Radiohead announced that it would perform a charity show benefiting the survivors of the devastating January 12th earthquake in Haiti. The tickets were made available via a Ticketmaster auction which ended with a final minimum bid of $475 (meaning many secured their tickets for $450). Some went above and beyond as the proceeds were going to Oxfam America’s Haiti Relief Fund and the high bid was $2,000 per ticket (for either 2 or 4 tickets), according to the band. All in all more than $572,000 was raised in fans’ donations and it was an unforgettable, intimate gig for all at the 1,300-capacity theater.

It truly sounds like a special night … not only because the setlist looked AMAZING but because so many people gave so generously to help the affected people of Haiti. After the jump, check out the setlist in full …

Someone's gettin' a big head
Peter Sarsgaard Joins The Cast Of ‘Green Lantern’

Last July we learned that Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the big screen adaptation of the classic comic book series and just this week we learned that Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) has been cast as love interest Carol Ferris and that filming will reportedly get underway in March. Today we learn that Peter Sarsgaard, aka Mr. Maggie Gyllenhaal, has been cast as supervillain and Green Lantern nemesis Dr. Hector Hammond … who is known for his powers of telepathy and his trademark “colossal cranium”:

The Hollywood Reporter tonight broke the word that actor Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in Warner Brothers Films’ adaptation of DC Comics’ “Green Lantern” landing the role of Hector Hammond, the movie’s first major villain who is best known to comic fans for his colossal cranium … Originally in the Green Lantern comics of the ’60s by John Broome and Gil Kane, Hammond was a grossly exaggerated figure whose massive head granted him telepathic powers after coming into contact with a strange meteor. The villain was recently revived by writer Geoff Johns, particularly in the “Secret Origin” arc of “Green Lantern” where Hammond beings as a possible suitor Carol Ferris, the eventual girlfriend of hero and test pilot Hal Jordan. Sarsgaard’s casting makes the third actor to sign on for the project set to hit theaters June 17, 2011. Both Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are already on board to play Joran and Ferris respectively under the direction of Martin Campbell. However, casting lists indicate that the film will also feature the villain Sinestro when it finally bows in theaters. Written by Greg Berlanti with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green with a rewrite by Michael Goldenberg, “Green Lantern” is set to begin filming this March in New Orleans.

Excellent, excellent casting. As you can see in the side-by-side photos of Sarsgaard and the comic book villain Hammond that they look very similar. I seem to recall that Dr. Hector Hammond‘s head was even bigger than it appears in this graphic so I wonder just how big they’re gonna go with Sarsgaard‘s head. I’m glad to know that the villain Sinestro (who ultimately becomes Green Lantern‘s main nemesis) will be introduced in this film … my guess is that he will be introed at the end of the film must like the Joker was introduced at the end of Batman Begins and Moriarty was introduced at the end of Sherlock Holmes. All this Green Lantern news is great … I can’t wait to hear and SEE more!!

The Gyllenhaals Do Paris, France

Here are a few cute pics of Jake Gyllenhaal with his older sister Maggie Gyllenhaal and her hubby Peter Sarsgaard chillin’ out and shopping together at the Saint-Ouen flea market on a lazy afternoon in Paris, France over the weekend:

These days it’s pretty rare to see Jakey poo out with anyone other than his ladylove Reese Witherspoon but he managed to wrestle himself away from her presence in order to spend time fraternizing with his sister and her husband for an afternoon. It looks like a very nice and relaxing afternoon with family … and hey, any photos of Jake sans Reese are winners in my book :)

GyllenGaard make it official!
Maggie Gyllenhaal & Peter Sarsgaard Got Hitched!

After getting together back in 2002, getting quietly engaged in early 2006 and having their first child together (Ramona) later that same year, longtime couple Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard finally tied the knot this past weekend in a small wedding ceremony in Brindisi, Italy with family and friends in attendance. Here are a couple pics of the happy couple on their wedding day this past Saturday and some deets about their surprise nuptials. They got hitched, y’all:

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard made it official on Saturday: The longtime couple, who have a daughter together, tied the knot in a romantic wedding in Italy. “We are happy to confirm that Maggie and Peter were married on Saturday, May 2,” the actress’s rep said in a statement to PEOPLE. The celebration took place in a small chapel in Brindisi, according to European news reports. Among the guests were Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon … In March, Gyllenhaal celebrated her impending nuptials with a bridal shower attended by friends, including Witherspoon, a source tells PEOPLE. Gyllenhaal, 31, and Sarsgaard, 38, are parents to daughter Ramona, 2 ½. The couple announced their pregnancy and engagement exclusively to PEOPLE in 2006 after being together for more than four years. The pair costarred in 2003′s In God’s Hands, a low-budget feature produced by Steven Soderbergh.

I have to say that I really believed that GyllenGaard was one of those couples (like Brangelina, for instance) that I never thought would get hitched. They seemed like the kind of couple that seemed totally uninterested in legalizing their relationship and were happy with their own personal commitment to one another. A three year engagement is a long one … I’m happy to know that they finally decided to go thru with their wedding. While it’s very nice that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon were in attendance at his sister’s nuptials, I hope they didn’t get any funny ideas from the ceremony. In any event, much love and congrats goes out to the happy couple! May they live a long and healthy life together in happily wedded bliss!
