Last week we learned the sad news that Ashlee Simpson and hubby Pete Wentz are divorcing … but today we get to see new photos of the couple reuniting for a Valentine’s Day family brunch with their young son Bronx Mowgli at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday afternoon. Could a reconciliation be in the works?

Whoa! Sad and very surprising news to pass along today … TMZ is reporting that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have split up! Ashlee and Pete would’ve celebrated their 3 year wedding anniversary in May … but instead, Ash has filed for divorce from her Fall Out Boy … just days ahead of Valentine’s Day :( The couple are dunzo, y’all!

Ashlee Simpson, her hubby Pete Wentz and their son Bronx Mowgli did a bit of pre-Thanksgiving shopping here in SoCal yesterday to pick up a few odds and ends for today’s Thanksgiving Day feast. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Simpson-Wentz family out and about together so it’s nice to see them all together as a family unit:

Judging by the small number of bags and that big poinsettia plant, my guess is that they were shopping for a larger Thanksgiving dinner with the rest of the Simpson family … tho, I suppose it’s possible that Ashlee and Pete are planning a quieter and smaller Thanksgiving dinner for just their little family. Whatever the case may be, I surely hope they have a fun Thanksgiving together.

While newlyweds Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky were gettin’ smoochy at the US Open, oldyweds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were gettin’ their party on elsewhere at the US Open tournament. Ashl33n were spotted partying up in their private suit during the US Open this weekend and as you can see, Ashlee was in a great mood all the while:

I’m guessing all the free-flowing booze had something to do with Ashlee‘s mood … but as soon as a Fall Out Boy song was played over the loudspeakers, she really got into a frisky mood. Now, I’ve seen Ashlee party before … but never at a sporting event. What is it with tennis? It seems to bring out the animal in everyone.

Various celebs of size and stature made their way to the Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY yesterday to attend the 136th Kentucky Derby. In all honesty, I’m guessing that most of these celebs were only interested in showing off their fancy outfits on the red carpet at the Derby yesterday (Johnny Weir and your fabulous hat, I’m talking to you!) but it sounds like a great day was had by all. Here are a few photos of some of the celebs who attended the race this year and a run-down of this year’s Derby:

The starting gate sprung open in the Kentucky Derby, with 19 horses scrambling for position. One jockey knew exactly where he was headed. Calvin Borel deftly tucked Super Saver along the rail Saturday on a track turned into creamy peanut butter by heavy rain. Once again, he was in his favorite spot, getting a clear path all the way through the goo. That’s why they call him “Bo-rail” and, for the third time in four years, he took the shortest path to the winner’s circle. Borel found only one horse in his way, and once he steered Super Saver around front-running Conveyance, another Run for the Roses was his. The most wide-open Derby in years ended with a sure thing — Borel crossing the finish line and punching the air with this right fist, this time raising it toward a leaden sky. “I knew nothing was going to run him down,” he said, referring to his bay colt. The jockey’s magic touch on his home track gave trainer Todd Pletcher his first Derby victory after 24 failures with a 2 1/2-length victory over Ice Box. “Calvin Borel is a great rider anywhere he goes, but at Churchill Downs he’s even five lengths better,” Pletcher said. “He knows how to ride this track and gets along with his colt beautifully.” Borel’s ride at his home track nearly duplicated the one he turned in last year aboard 50-1 shot Mine That Bird, except he and Super Saver went off at lower odds and were never in last place. Now the trio heads to Baltimore for the Preakness on May 15. “Calvin already said he’s going to win the Triple Crown,” Pletcher said, “so I guess we’d better go there.” The Triple Crown was last won 32 years ago by Affirmed. The last Derby winner to break from Super Saver’s No. 4 post was 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew. Borel almost pulled off his own personal triple last year. Mine That Bird won the Derby, then Borel switched to filly Rachel Alexandra to win the Preakness before going back to Mine That Bird in the Belmont Stakes. They finished third as the 6-5 favorite. On Saturday, he was confident enough in his colt and his knowledge of the track to take him off the lead in the early going of the 1 1/4-mile race. In all but one of his six previous races, Super Saver had never been farther back than second in the early stages. Borel knew that strategy wouldn’t work in a 20-horse Derby field on a tiring, sloppy track that had been pelted by heavy rain early in the day. So they hugged the rail in sixth place, while many of his rivals were well off the fence in the muck. “We all know what he’s going to do,” said Robby Albarado, who finished 14th aboard Dean’s Kitten. “He just does it anyway.” Said Borel: “I was just taught it’s the shortest way around.” Super Saver was timed in 2:04.45 as the 8-1 second-choice behind favorite Lookin At Lucky, whose 6-1 odds tied Harlan’s Holiday in 2002 for the longest priced favorite in 136 runnings. He paid $18, $8.80 and $6.

… Um … I honestly have no idea what any of this means … at all. I know a horse named Super Saver won the race and that horse was ridden by a jockey named Calvin Borel who won his 3rd Kentucky Derby in 4 years (a feat that has never been done before) and his second Derby in a row. Other than that … no idea. I’m just here for the hats … which, I gotta say, were a bit of a let-down. Save for Johnny Weir, most of the hats donned by the celebs this year were pretty lackluster. I gotta give props to Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz for bringin’ the old skool favor to the red carpet. Ashlee looked like she came straight from the 1920s and Pete looked like an extra from Newsies. Well done. I suppose congrats are in order for Super Saver and his jockey Clavin Borel but, yeah, I really don’t get any of this at all. Do you?

Pete Wentz‘s fashion line, Clandestine Industries, threw a fashion show event at Stage 37 in NYC earlier this week for New York Fashion Week and, as you can tell from the following photos, he really went all out for his runway look … behold:

As far as I know, the new collection by Clandestine isn’t necessarily Silence of the Lamb-related so I’m not sure why Wentz came out in a Hannibal Lecter ensemble but … at least the mask is covering up that heinous beard he’s trying to grow. Ah Fashion, why you gotta be so crazy?

Yesterday we saw photos from Rihanna‘s pre-Super Bowl XLIV concert for Pepsi Smash in Miami, FL Thursday night and today we get see pics from another pre-Super Bowl party that took place this weekend. Pete Wentz, former bassist for the reportedly defunct Fall Out Boy, played DJ at the Rock ‘N Soul party at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino last night … behold:

Happily marrieds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz thought it would be real cute to slip into a costume shop in NYC this week to pick up a pair of Hallowe’en masks in order to play around the the paparazzi … here are a couple pics of Ashl33n with and without their fun masks:

Not for nothin’ but I think they look so much better with the masks on … not because they’re unattractive people (cuz they’re not) but because they look so much more fun with the masks on. It would be fabulously fun if more celebs played around with the photogs in this way … imagine how much fun both they and we would have! Oh how I wish that everyday was Hallowe’en … that would rule so hard.

Now that Ashlee Simpson has a semi-regular gig performing in Chicago on Broadway, she and hubby Pete Wentz have made themselves right at home in the Big Apple in the past few weeks. Here are a few really cute photos of Ashl33n out and about with their son Bronx Mowgli lookin’ like bonafide New York folk:

I think this move to NYC will be good for them. Ashlee can do her thang on Broadway, Pete can mind his club Angels and Kings and little Bronx can get a taste of arguable the greatest city in the world. If you follow Pete Wentz on Twitter, you know he refers to his son as “little dude” which is crazy cute … he and his family seem really happy these days. Now that that Melrose Place mess is a thing of the past, they can move forward away from SoCal and in the loving arms of the City that Never Sleeps.

Earlier this month we learned that Ashlee Simpson was planning to make her Broadway debut in the NYC production of Chicago (the same show she performed in on the West End in London, England last year) after she was unceremoniously fired from her gig on Melrose Place … and last night was her premiere night! Here are a few photos of Ashlee on stage in the role of Roxie Hart last night:

Really, who needs a show that’s going to evict you after just 12 episodes? Certainly not Ashlee Simpson-Wentz! The former inhabitant of Melrose Place moved into her new home on Broadway officially last night, making her debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. Of course, the star’s unfamiliar territory was made a bit more cozy given that she performed the role in London’s West End. And her star-studded support system in the audience didn’t hurt either. Husband Pete Wentz and sister Jessica Simpson were sitting with papa Joe and mom Tina with figurative bells on. “I’ve looked forward to this moment since I watched her own the stage in London,” Jessica tweeted. (Obviously, the long-running musical isn’t as “crappy” as a certain CW show). “Roxie was all Heart! Watching her up on that grandiose stage made me the proudest sister in the world.” Pete was downright nervous for his baby mama’s big moment. “When I get nervous I jitterbug and dance inside my head,” he tweeted. “It doesn’t matter what you’re, saying it just sounds like the Black Eyed Peas to me.”

Welp, if you can’t make it on TV it makes sense that you heed the call if Broadway comes calling. Ash is very lucky that she already played the part in London because, I’m sure, it make her transition to Broadway all that much easier. Even still, I’m sure all the supportive folks in the audience helped her out immensely.
