‘The Stepfather’ Premieres In NYC

Penn Badgely and his co-stars Amber Heard and Dylan Walsh, were joined by much of the Gossip Girl cast at the NYC premiere of their new film The Stepfather which took place at the SVA Theater here in NYC, NY last night. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

I believe this is Penn’s first starring movie role so we will soon know if he’s got the chops to carry a film almost all by himself. I don’t know much about Amber Heard’s work but I’m a big fan of Dylan Walsh (who plays Dr. Sean McNamara on Nip/Tuck) and I have no doubt he’ll play a great bad guy in this film. Penn’s costars Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick have already featured in their own big screen flicks (The Covenant and S. Darko respectively) so now it’s Penn’s time to shine. I hope he doesn’t disappoint … David and I have high hopes that this film will be a fun time at the movies. The Stepfather opens on Friday … I guess we’ll know soon enough if Penn’s got what it takes to thrill an audience.

Those of you who have been watching the new season of Gossip Girl surely must be aware of how much tail Dan Humphrey (played by Penn Badgley) is getting on the show … I mean … a lot. He’s already been there and done that with Serena (played by Blake Lively) and Vanessa (played by Jessica Szohr) and just this season he got bizzy with Georgina Sparks (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) and soon he’ll be gettin’ his freak on with Olivia Burke (played by Hilary Duff). I mean … WTF? Here are pics of Penn makin’ out with both Jessica and Hilary on the NYC set of GG this week:

HMMM. I guess now that Chace Crawford’s character has settled down with Joanna Garcia’s character and Ed Westwick’s character has settled down with Leigton Meester’s character … the field is wide open for Penn to get his mack on. I guess it’s gonna take me some time to get used to the idea of Dan Humphrey breakin’ hearts on GG but … that’s why they call it fiction, right?

Penn Badgley, Gossip Girl hunk and star of the upcoming thriller The Stepfather (due out in theaters next month), is featured in the pages of the new issue of VMan magazine wherein he poses for a few purdy pictures and chats a bit about his status as a teen idol. Here are a few photos from Penn’s VMan photospread along with a few quotes from the accompanying interview:

“I’m not just a teen star idol. I’m not just that.”

“They brought me on to be the awkward sort of confident nerd. In the beginning, they wrote to my ability to stutter very well – it’s a comedic kind of thing.”

“You barely have to be famous for people to scream when they see you.”

“If you look at the lives we’re leading on the show and the lives we’re leading offscreen, I mean, they’re very fucking similar. But it’s not weird, it doesn’t feel incestuous.”

I gotta say, I wasn’t really wowed by the GG season 3 premiere ep last night … too much of it seemed overly contrived … but I’m sure things will be gettin’ good real soon. As for Penn, I’m happy to see that he is getting his own time in the spotlight … with The Stepfather, he’ll be a star in his own right. I love how the trailer for the film features Penn shirtless as many times as possible … that’s really the right way to market a film to teens ;)

Who Is Penn Badgley Kissing On The Set Of ‘Gossip Girl’

The Gossip Girl gang has been hard at work on production of their upcoming third season and we’ve seen a lot of photos of the cast from the set. A key scene in an upcoming ep was filmed yesterday on the NYC set of the show that gives away a bit of plot development. Penn Badgley’s character, Dan Humphrey, was spotted kissing up on one of his lady castmates … can you guess which one?

We know that Dan has had an on-again, off-again relationship ship with Serena van der Woodsen (played by Blake Lively) but I will tell you that that this girl he’s smoochin’ on is not her. After the jump, find out who it is …
