Actors and on-screen brothers Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder made an in-store appearance at the Hot Topic at Sunset Place in Miami, FL yesterday as part of The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Mall Tour. Here are a few photos of Paul and Ian at yesterday’s event:

I understand the guys spent a lot of time meeting and greeting the fans who came out to see them. Other castmembers from The Vampire Diaries are touring elsewhere but it sounds like the place to be was in Miami yesterday to see the hot VD brothers ;)

The biggest Fanboy FrightFest Awards Show gets even BIGGER
The 2010 Spike Scream Awards Are Handed Out

Spike TV held its annual Scream Awards at the Greek Theater in Hollywood, CA last night and they managed to get some of the biggest names in Hollywood to come out and party with the fanboys. From Sir Anthony Hopkins to Halle Berry, comic legend Bill Murry to director Christopher Nolan — the iconic Sigourney Weaver … the 2010 Spike Scream Awards were a Who’s Who of the biggest names in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comic Books, Horror, Video Games, TV, Movies and MORE! Here are some of the folks who strutted their stuff on the red carpet last night along with some spoilery deets from Access Hollywood about what went down at last night’s taping of the Spike Scream Awards (which won’t air until Tuesday October 19):

Ghouls and goblins… Fanboys and freaks… Not to mention, huge stars including Halle Berry, Kristen Stewart, James Cameron, Megan Fox, Mickey Rourke and Michael J. Fox… They all were out in full force for Spike TV’s 5th Annual “SCREAM 2010” awards on Saturday night at the Greek Theatre nestled deep in the woods of LA’s Griffith Park. More than just a frightfest, this still young event has become an awards show for the Comic-Con crowd – honoring sci-fi fare like nomination-leading film “Inception” and TV’s “Lost,” as well as the more expected genre nominees like “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Zombieland.” The atmosphere was nothing short of inspired. Fans were all dressed up as their favorite characters. The elaborate “Inception”-designed stage was accented by a giant replica of the film’s famous spinning top. A giant full moon (at times becoming a circular saw or the “Back to the Future” watchtower clock) dominated the backdrop. The presenter platforms were circled by gargoyles spitting fire from their mouths and the trophy ladies were dressed as Natalie Portman’s character in the upcoming “Black Swan.” The evening began with Halle Berry in a shiny mini-dress, introducing the night’s most nominated project, “Inception.” Director Christopher Nolan was on hand to accept on behalf of the dream-bending film’s six wins for the night. In true Comic-Con fashion, some of the most anticipated films of the upcoming year used the night to introduce first looks at footage. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Emma Roberts and Wes Craven were on hand to world premiere the first footage of “Scream 4,” which drew a huge fan reaction. Other first look world premieres included: “Paranormal Activity 2,” Rainn Wilson on hand to present “Super,” AMC’s new original series “The Walking Dead,” Anthony Hopkins on hand to present “The Rite,” new footage from “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows,” and new scenes from the upcoming DVD release of “Avatar.” The biggest crowd reaction of the night came when Bill Murray came out in a Ghostbusters costume (accompanied by Ray Parker Jr.‘s famous theme song) to accept on behalf of “Zombieland” for its win for Best Horror Film. “It’s all I had that was clean,” he declared to an ecstatic crowd. Reunions were also a big theme for the evening. David Spade introduced Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, who were on hand to promote the 25th anniversary re-release of the “Back to the Future” trilogy. The film’s famous DeLorean even made an appearance … Other highlights of the night included James Cameron introducing a special award to Sigourney Weaver (who emerged from a giant “Alien” egg)… a music video from Break.com featuring Seth Green, Stan Lee and Katee Sackhoff called “Geek & Gamer Gurls,” set to the tune of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”… And the best line of the night, which came courtesy of Sarah Silverman: “I just met Megan Fox backstage and she should totally be in Eli Roth’s next movie…. But even if she’s not, I hope she gets tortured and decapitated anyways.”

Since I was lucky enough to attend the Scream Awards last night, I got to watch all of the awesomeness unfold live on stage … and I had a blast. You must tune in Tuesday night to watch … this year’s Spike Scream Awards is by far the best one yet … and it only promises to keep getting better! If you can’t wait for Tuesday to see some of the memorable moments from the 2010 Spike Scream Awards, you can check out some photos from the show — after the jump …

"Love Sucks"
The Cast Of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Does ‘Nylon’ Magazine

Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, the principal stars of the CW TV series The Vampire Diaries, share the cover of the new issue of Nylon magazine this month. This ménage of actors will return to the TV airwaves in an all new ep of the series TONIGHT but right now we get to check out their hawt three-way chemistry in the pages of Nylon magazine beforehand:

Those well acquainted with Serena and Little J may find this fact hard to believe: Vampire Diaries, The CW’s budding show about bloodsuckers and the teen girls who love and / or get eaten by them, has double the number of Gossip Girl viewers. What makes it such a hit? It could be the current cultural zeitgeist of Edward, Bella, Sookie, Bill, and immortal drama. It could be the lingering teen appeal of star Nina Dobrev (remember her from Degrassi?). Or maybe it’s just damn fun and funny. Luke Crisell – who calls the show “like Dawson’s Creek with less talk and more action” – sat down with the cast of and asked them himself.

On the similarities between Twilight, True Blood, and Vampire Diaries:
“When the show first started… you automatically thought Twilight. But once you continue, there’s a whole other side of it that goes a lot deeper… It’s about letting everyone know that we’re different but we all respect each other.” — Nina Dobrev

On the sudden success of the show:
“Do I thing the show would be successful as it is, if it weren’t for all that? No.” — Paul Wesley

Hey Ian, is there any similarity between LOST and Vampire Diaries?
“[My character] is gonna be the coolest character on television. There was no doubt about it. It reminded me of Sawyer, Josh Holloway’s character on LOST. He was always the character I secretly wished I could play.”

I didn’t think I was going to but I have really become a fan of this show. I started watching it just because it was new but I didn’t expect to get wrapped up in the storyline … at all. I’m not sure what it is, exactly, but I keep wanting to tune in to see what is going on in the shadowy town of Mystic Falls. I’m glad the show is returning from hiatus tonight because, as I understand it, things are about to get really interesting. But, I digress. After the jump, check out a few photos of Nina, Paul and Ian from this issue of Nylon magazine …

No offense to Mr. Wesley but Mr. Lutz is allllll that and a bag of chips. Even tho he don’t look too bright, he’s deffo the hotter of the two vampires. After the jump, check out this behind the scenes video in full and see which one YOU like best …

Suck it up
More Promo Pics From ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Last week we got to check out a few pretty sweet promo pics from the new CW series The Vampire Diaries, which debuts this Fall, from a photosession titled Love Sucks. Today we get to check out a few more promo pics from the show — unthemed as far as I know but just as sexy:

Okay, so I really loved the photos we got to see last weekend but these new photos are nice as well. I especially like the one we see here. Elena‘s hair is all flowy and she is flanked by vamp bros Stefan and Damon … it’s gonna be fun watching these vamps fight over her affections. True Blood it ain’t but I’m hopin’ The Vampire Diaries will bring the drama nonetheless. After the jump, check out a few more promo pics from this new set of photos …

Meet the Fangers
‘The Vampire Diaries’ Releases New Promo Pics

Here is our first look at a new set of promo pics released by The CW to promote their new series The Vampire Diaries based on the book series of the same name. Often referred to as Twilight for TV (even tho the books, written by L.J. Smith, were published many years before the first Twilight book hit store shelves), The Vampire Diaries tell the tale of Elena Gilbert who is torn between the love of two vampire brothers — the good one Stefan (played by Paul Wesley) and the bad one Damon (played by Ian Somerhalder):

Oooh steamy. This ad campaign has been titled Love Sucks and is all kinds of sexy. I quite like the top photo, it’s sexy and not too cheesy. It remains to be seen if this vampire TV series aimed at tweens (as opposed to HBO‘s True Blood which is aimed at adults) will be as successful as The Twilight Saga movie franchise but I’m sure The CW is gonna give it all they’ve got. After the jump, check out a few more promo pics of each of the three main characters — Elena, Stefan and Damon

Faces new & old come out to pimp the new season
The CW Celebrates The 2009 Upfronts

New and old actors from new and old CW TV shows made their way to the Gramercy Park Hotel here in NYC last night for The CW Upfronts afterparty … which was basically a chance for them to mix and mingle with one another in celebration of the upcoming season of their various TV shows. Here are a few pics of some of the folks who came out for the soiree last night:

Original Melrose Place alums Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro were on hand to rep their “new” show, the much talked-about new version of Melrose Place (Ashlee Simpson was on hand to rep the show, too, but she didn’t look nearly as fab as Laura did). Some of the Gossip Girls kids were there as well (both Ed Westwick and girlfriend/co-star Jessica Szohr looked extra crispy). The stars of The Vampire Diaries were in the hiz as well … Ian Somerhalder was lookin’ especially cheeky in his dressed down attire. The CW has got some good-sounding programs coming our way this Fall — we’ll just have to see if they deliver. With the line-up they’ve got planned for this coming season, could Fall 2009 be The CW‘s best ever?

Let's hope it don't suck
First Look: ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Earlier today we got our first look at the new version of Melrose Place which will air this coming Fall on The CW and now we get our first look at another CW series scheduled to debut as well. The Vampire Diaries is the TV adaptation of the L.J. Smith book series of the same name. Here are a few promo pics from the new series which features two vampire brothers (one good, one bad) who are each vying for the affections of a human girl caught in between:

“Vampire Diaries” is an adaptation of L.J. Smith’s novel series which tells about two vampire brothers, one good and one evil, fighting the passion for the same girl, Elena. Nina Dobrev will play Elena while the good brother, Stefan, will be played by Paul Wesley. The evil brother, Damon is played by Ian Somerhalder. It airs Thursdays at 8 P.M. before “Supernatural”.

I have not personally read these books but I’ve heard from many people that the series is very good and the TV adaptation is just as good. Vampires are really hot right now … it doesn’t surprise me that The CW would want to jump on the bandwagon and bring another vampire tale to the masses. The fact that Ian Somerhalder is cast as the bad vamp brother intrigues me to no end. I never really pictured him as a bad guy … in Buffy terms, I guess he would be the Spike to Paul Wesley‘s Angel (while Spike and Angel are not brothers, they are vampire family and did vie for Buffy‘s affections). This is deffo one of the new series I am looking forward to seeing come Fall. Ian Somerhalder on my TV screen? Yes, please. And you thought vampires couldn’t get any hotter.
