My girl Mariah Carey, who just released her latest album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel this past Tuesday, performed live in Rockefeller Square on The Today Show earlier today and she did a pretty damn good job, if I say so myself. Mimi was still rockin’ her mid-90′s big hair look but the more I see it, the more it continues to grow on me. Here are a few photos from her performance earlier this morning:

As you can imagine, Mimi brought along her much younger hubby Nick Cannon and made sure to give him some sugar in between performances so that the folks in their general vicinity would know that they are still so much in lurve. At the end of June we saw photos of Mariah Carey on the NYC set of her new music video Obsessed (which is the first single off her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel). Among those photos, we saw a couple pics of Mimi dressed as a stalker who looks a lot like Eminem (who she has previously claimed is obsessed with her but denies she is mocking in the vid). At last, the music video has been released! Here are a few screencaps from the vid:

The video is pretty straightforward … it tells the tale of Mimi being stalked by a creepy guy (who she also portrays in the video) … but there is a funny twist ending ;) After the jump, check it out in full …

Mariah Carey‘s new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (which was announced on Twitter back in May) will not be released in stores until August 25 but TODAY Mimi will be releasing the first single from the album. Obsessed makes its worldwide premiere on radio later today … but here is our first look at the single’s cover artwork:

First came the emancipation, then came energy and power, and now comes MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL, the new album by international superstar Mariah Carey, scheduled to arrive on August 25th. The first new single pick from MEMOIRS is “Obsessed,” which blasts out to radio today, Tuesday, June 16th. The video for “Obsessed” will be directed by Brett Ratner. “Obsessed” was written and produced by Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who are responsible for the majority of tracks on the new album. MEMOIRS was executive-produced by Antonio “L.A.” Reid. MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL, the 12th studio album of Mariah’s career, is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her RIAA platinum-selling album E=MC² (released April 15, 2008), and her worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi (released April 12, 2005). Both were Soundscan #1 debut albums that made chart history for Mariah in the U.S. and numerous territories around the globe.

Homegirl needs a hit … here’s hoping Obsessed will be the Summer jam that she’s been lookin’ for. Mariah has tweeted that Obsessed is an “uptempo fun summer record” and that is just what I was hoping to hear. I’m a huge Mariah Carey fan — I’d love for her to add more #1s to her repertoire. Last night David and I decided to spend the entire night at the movie theater … because so many movies opened this weekend and because we are flying off to Chicago later on today, we thought it best to see at least 2 movies last night in order to get our intense desire to see them out of our system. First up, we saw the latest Channing Tatum masterpiece Fighting:

Okay … you ain’t gonna find any Academy Award gold in this film nor are you going to find any deep meaningful dialog or, you know, meaning … basically, it’s an entertaining film because it stars an insanely attractive man fighting with other not so attractive men. I can’t lie … I was entertained. The fight scenes were the best part of the film … with the close-ups of Channing‘s face running a close second. I was kind of bothered by Terrence Howard‘s performance in the film … something about his voice and mannerisms just creeped me out. But, again, I don’t think anyone will see this film for any reason other than Channing Tatum. Even after he gets pummeled in his various fights, he manages to look even better afterward. Yeah, I don’t know that this film will appeal to all … but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Next up, we saw the latest Beyoncé film Obsessed:

This movie was a HOOT! It was so freakin’ funny … in parts that I’m guessing weren’t meant to be funny. The crowd really enjoyed it as did we … yeah, it’s a super ridiculous film that provides just what it promises — cheesy dramatic bullshizz. The only negative I have to say about the film is that the best parts of the movie (ie. the fight scenes between Beyoncé and Ali Larter) are featured in the movie trailer. You basically see all of the juiciness (and the best lines) in the trailers. If you’re luke warm about seeing this film, you might want to hold off and see it on DVD or cable. But, if you really want to have a fun time seeing a cheesy movie, this one is for you. Again, David and I really enjoyed ourselves … but not because the movie is a stunning masterpiece.

You know, sometimes movies can just be frivolous fun … and that’s exactly what we got from our Double Feature last night :)

So yeah … in a few hours, David and I make our way to Chicago, IL. We’re meeting up with my friends Sarah and Mark tonight and tomorrow and then are chillin’ in town until Wednesday afternoon. I’m excited … it’s been ages since I’ve been to Chi-town. Woot!

Ms. Fierce herself, Beyoncé Knowles, along with co-stars Idris Elba, Ali Later and Jerry O’Connell were all on hand last night for the NYC premiere of their new movie Obsessed which opens in theaters today. From the first moment that I saw the trailer for this film, I knew that it was gonna be my kind of movie … a sexy office temp tries to seduce her way into a happily married man’s pants and when she is brutally rebuffed she goes all psycho stalker and tries to weasel her way into his life anyways. Yes, it’s a story we’ve heard before … but this time around, Beyoncé stars as the wife and she ain’t takin’ stalker girl’s bullshizz at all. As you can see, fashion designer Christian Mr. Fierce Siriano was also in the hiz for last night’s premiere … as was Olympic Gold Medalist hottie Ryan Lochte (has this guy gotten cuter in the past few months … cuz, damn!). These guys know good entertainment when they see it. I am having the hardest time deciding what to do today … I desperately want to see Obsessed but I also want to see Fighting and The Informers as well (Fighting has Channing Tatum in it, so, duh … and The Informers is based on a Bret Easton Ellis book and I just love his work). I fear I might have to pull a double feature and see 2 of the 3 movies today … and because David and I are flying out to Chicago tomorrow afternoon, I might have to see the third move in the Windy City. Ugh … so many great movies, so little time. All I know is I simply must watch Beyoncé whip some ass … I am so there. Are any of y’all planning a trip out to the movie theater this weekend?
