Congratulations are in order for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden on the birth of their second child, a baby boy they have named Sparrow James Midnight! The official announcement was made on Nicole‘s official website but the news was quickly disseminated by Joel on his official Twitter profile. It’s a boy!!

In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009 Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. He weighs 7lbs 14oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.

I guess it turns out that those rumors we heard back in May about the baby being a boy turned out to be true!! You may recall that we learned over the weekend that Nicole reportedly checked into the hospital to give birth … and at last the Nic/Joel‘s second child is born! Surely this must be a magic baby … he was born on 09.09.09. I can only imagine that the little guy is as cute as his big sister Harlow Winter Kate. Much, much love and congrats to the happy family on their expansion!! XO

According to a few sources, Nicole Richie reportedly checked herself into a local SoCal hospital here in LA yesterday presumably so that she could give birth to that baby she’s been carrying around in her uterus for the past 9 months or so. Now, because there has been no official confirmation that she actually checked into the hospital and, to my knowledge, there are no photos of her arriving at the hospital, we should treat this info as rumor … but, just in case she does give birth today or tomorrow I felt it would be wise to pass along this rumor, just in case:

You may recall that Joel Madden announced on his official website that Nicole was pregs with the couple’s second child back in February, which was 7 months ago. If you consider that he decided to wait a month or two after they learned she was pregs to make the announcement, it’s about time for her to pop. Whether she has checked into the hospital or not, I hope she is doing well and that he is able to give birth to a healthy baby when the time is right … but I can’t help but also hope that the time is right right now ;)

Not only does Nicole make an excellent designer for the company, she also makes a beautifully radiant spokesmodel. She is getting closer and closer to birthing her second child but it’s clear from this photo that she makes being pregs look really good. Last month it was announced that Richie and Pod were teaming up to design a line of stylish wear for the pregs woman to wear and last night was its coming out party. Nicole, her burgeoning baby bump and others walked the red carpet last night in celebration … behold:

One of Tinsel town’s most fashionable moms-to-be is adding a little flair to maternity clothing. Nicole Richie, known for her Bohemian style, is teaming up with A Pea in the Pod to create a maternity wear collection, The former “The Simple Life” star announced on her blog on Tuesday. She’s extending her House of Harlow brand, which currently includes her successful jewelry range, to offer chic clothing choices for expectant women. Richie, 27, who gave birth to her line’s namesake, daughter Harlow, in January 2008, is pregnant with her and Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden’s second child. An “excited” Richie posted behind-the-scenes pictures from her shoot with photographer James White for the upcoming collection.

To be honest, you don’t get to see many of her designs but you do get to see a few pics of those headbands she loves to wear. Now, maternity wear is not really something I know anything about but I imagine that most of it is not geared for the fashion conscious … I think it’s nice that someone is putting out clothing that pregs mommies to be can wear and still look stylish. It won’t be long now before Nic/Joel welcome the birth of their newest little addition to the family (will it be a boy? will it be a girl?) so I’m sure they’re doing all they can to enjoy as much time together as a threesome as they can before the new baby takes center stage. It’s so insane to think that Harlow Winter is about to become a big sister … it feels like she was just born yesterday. I’m just so happy for the Richie-Madden family … they seem so happy and are deffo so in love with one another. I predict that they won’t stop at just 2 babies ;) Aren’t they just the cutest?

Earlier today we saw photos of the pregs Heidi Klum taking her baby bump to Broadway to see The Lion King over the weekend and now we get to see a supercute pic of Nicole Richie and babydaddy Joel Madden taking their baby bump to the beach here in SoCal … behold:

Lawd have MERCY, Nicole has gotten big! It’s amazing that the miracle of pregnancy can turn a teeny tiny woman and make her grow exponentially big … in such a short time. I mean, her bump has been comin’ along nicely in recent weeks but BANG! she got all huge all of the sudden. Nic/Joel sure look happy … I bet they can’t wait to welcome their new bundle of joy. So cute!!

Nicole Richie and Pete Wentz teamed up with Switch Boutique in SoCal last night to throw a fashion show in order to showcase each celebs’ new line of products. House of Harlow 1960 jewelry and Clandestine Industries streetwear were paired up in an effort to show the public what they can expect from the two design houses. Here are pics of Pete Wentz, Nicole Richie and her burgeoning baby bump at the fashion show last night:

What happens when two of Hollywood’s hippest designers team up for a runway show? Last night’s House of Harlow, Clandestine Industries and Switch boutique runway show! Nicole Richie, who was modeling her own designs, added her House of Harlow 1960 pieces to feminine fashions from Switch boutique, telling PEOPLE that she picked based on “complimenting the outfit,” while Pete Wentz went for an individualized approach to his models. “[It's] just about streetwear so I let the guy pick. Whatever looked best on the individual.” Budding girl group Paradiso Girls opened the show with a quick performance and special guest spot by rapper Eve. With Wentz’s wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Richie’s partner Joel Madden watching on, the male models donned high top sneakers, T-shirts saying things like I (heart) BX, hoodies, and fedoras from Clandestine Industries. The ladies walked the runway in black mini skirts, back stretch pants with holes cut into them, heels with neon green soles and hot pink peep toe, jumpsuits with white lace lining and gold belts as accents to Nicole’s bold jewelry. Wentz thanked the audiences with “Thank you for checking out our lines,” just before rockers The Academy Is… closed the evening with a short performance.

It only makes sense that two celebs with semi-equal celebrity lines of clothing/jewelry would team up to showcase their wares in this way. To be honest, I’m surprised neither of them thought about teaming up before now. As some of you already know, the Madden brothers own DCMA Clothing and, I suspect, plans are in the works to mebbe put together a way to showcase both House of Harlow 1960 and DCMA at a future fashion show. As a sidebar, I’m loving how big Nicole’s baby bump is already … it looks like it won’t be long now before Nicole and Joel Madden are welcoming the birth of their second child. We still do not know if it is a boy or a girl … but how adorable would a little boy addition to the family be?

Earlier this week we saw photos of Nicole Richie carrying in her baby daughter Harlow Winter to do a pre-taped appearance on Larry King Live. Nicole appeared on the show (which aired last night on CNN) with her father Lionel (who was promoting his new album) and I guessed wrongly that little Harlow would not be on the show … not so. Harlow did make a wee appearance on the show to say hello to the television viewing audience:

OMG … she is SO CUTE … totally adorable. When Larry says hello to her she waves back with her fingers!! Cute! Nicole brought Harlow out for the last portion of the interview, when she was talking about the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation. Nicole Richie brought along her adorable baby girl Harlow Winter to the CNN studios here in LA yesterday to tape an appearance with her father Lionel Richie on Larry King Live. Because the pics of Harlow lookin’ all cute with her hair did are TOO ADORABLE to let pass … I figured I’d share them with all y’all:

I believe Nicole and Lionel‘s ep of Larry King Live will air tomorrow night and, unfortch, little Miss Harlow will not get any airtime … fortunately we have these photos to make up for the loss. Just when I thought Harlow couldn’t get any cuter, she goes and outdoes herself. Those little hair puffs?? Adorable!! Ain’t she the cutest thing ever??

In Touch Weekly magazine is reporting today that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, who are expecting the birth of their second child this year, are preparing for the arrival of a bouncing baby … BOY! Of course, none of this is confirmed by the couple themselves but In Touch claims to have sources that have dished to the mag about the sex of the couple’s incubating baby … here is the report:

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are already the proud parents of an adorable 16-month-old daughter, Harlow, and now, they’re getting ready for the arrival of a bouncing baby boy in August, a friend tells In Touch. “Joel bought water-based paint for the nursery and — surprise, surprise — it’s blue,” reveals another pal of the couple, who adds that Nicole refers to the baby as “he.” “Plus, she recently ordered some plush animals and infant toys from FAO Schwarz, and everything just happens to be blue.”

Now, I don’t really believe anything until I hear confirmation from the folks involved but … if this blue paint thing is true then I would say that is a pretty good indicator of what’s going on ;) No matter what the sex of the baby is, there is no doubt it is going to be the cutest thing ever. Harlow Winter is already the reigning cutest baby in all of Hollywood babydom … I’m sure she wouldn’t mind ruling with an equally adorable sibling.
