Back in September we got to see photos from Nicole Richie‘s 29th birthday/Bachelorette party which took place in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico but back then, we weren’t at all certain when Nicole and fiancee Joel Madden were planning to be married. In recent weeks, we began hearing reports of a December wedding and this week it was widely circulated that the couple were planning to be wed this weekend … then the event planning trucks started to show up and the tents started to be erected at the Richie family mansion. E! New‘s Marc Malkin is now spillin’ all the deets that he knows about concerning Nic/Joel‘s upcoming weekend wedding:

Nicole Richie has just a few days left as a single woman. The starlet will tie the knot with her rocker boyfriend Joel Madden this Saturday at her father Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills estate. Richie will reportedly wear a Marchesa dress when she walks down the aisle. The bride-to-be and her close friend and personal stylist Simone Harouche went to a fitting last week with Marchesa in NYC. “It went very well,” a source tells us. A source familiar with the wedding prep says Richie wanted to keep the guest list limited to the closest friends and family. Part of the reason? While her dad’s mansion boasts 28 rooms, space on the grounds is actually limited. Just [Wednesday] morning, rental trucks were seen arriving at the gates of Lionel’s mansion where ladders and other preparation equipment could be seen in the driveway. Celeb guests will include Joel’s brother Benji, along with friends Samantha Ronson and Khloé Kardashian. Kim Kardashian and Richie’s former BFF Paris Hilton will apparently not be in attendance.

At last … at long last … Nicole and Joel are finally ready to take that walk down the aisle together. It seems like only yesterday that we first heard that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden had coupled up … it was like a dream come true for me. Two of my fave celebs had found love together … it couldn’t get more perfect than that. Then the couple gave birth to their adorable daughter Harlow Winter Kate (who would make a perfect flower girl) … then came their son, Sparrow Midnight James (the perfect ring bearer) … and now, the I Dos. I couldn’t be more thrilled for Nic/Joel, really.

It’s been a week since we first learned that the marriage between Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman is dunzo and in that time rumors have been flying around over what was the cause of the split. One particularly popular rumor is that Xtina‘s marriage to Jordy couldn’t survive her alleged cheating … particularly with other women. Of course, none of those rumors have been confirmed … so it’s all pretty much hearsay. Today, a new report from the TMZ offshoot website TooFab is claiming that Xtina‘s close relationship (whatever that means) with Samantha Ronson is at least partly to blame for the divorce … because Jordan was jealous of Sam:

Following Christina Aguilera’s Oct. 14 divorce filing from music producer Jordan Bratman, 33, speculation has run rampant as to what led to the split. It seems that a major factor was the 29-year-old singer’s increasingly close, emotional friendship with deejay (and Lindsay Lohan’s ex) Samantha Ronson, 33, a source tells TooFab. “Christina’s been friends with Sam for a while, like they all went to Cabo in September with Nicole Richie, but they were hanging out a lot more in recent months, and they created a new posse of girls that Christina hung out with, so it started to be really frustrating for Jordan, that she had this relationship with these girls, but particularly this close one with Sam,” the source tells TooFab. “Jordan was feeling less than a man. It seemed like she was more interested in hanging out with Sam than him. This had been going on for several months.” As an aside, the source tells TooFab that Ronson’s ex, Lindsay Lohan, was also unnerved by her relationship with Aguilera, 29. “It caused a lot of problems with Lohan and Sam. Before [Lohan] went into rehab, she was really frustrated with her relationship with Sam because of the Aguilera thing. She was extremely jealous.”

I find it a bit puzzling that people are so quick to assume that something romantic is going on between Xtina and Sam just because they like to hang out. The implication is that just because Samantha is gay then every woman she hangs out with she must be sexually involved with? No. I’m not saying that there is nothing romantic going on between them, I’m just saying that the assumptions being made are totally ridiculous. In the end, whatever relationship Xtina has with Samantha is beside the point. Xtina and Jordy‘s relationship fell apart because of their own personal issues. Whether or not Xtina and Sam are good friends or goooood friends is nobody’s business but their own. And let’s remember, these rumors and reports are all based on nameless sources … all of it should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Nicole Richie made her way to NYC this week to do some promo for the release of her new novel Priceless, which we learned was coming our way back in June when we got our first look at the tome’s cover artwork, and made an in-person appearance at a Borders bookstore last night to sign a few copies for some of her fans:

Yesterday I reported that Nicole Richie celebrated her 29th birthday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (after she celebrated her bachelorette party there over the weekend) with a few of her closest lady friends but it turns out that that was not the case. Yes, Nicole and her girls celebrated her bacheloretteness over the weekend but it turns out that Nicole flew home to SoCal to spend her birthday yesterday with her boys. Here is a cute pic of Nicole out yesterday with her beau Joel Madden and their son Sparrow James Midnight:

So while Nicole wanted to be in Cabo with her friends for her bachelorette party, it’s clear that she really wanted to be home, sweet, home with her family for her birthday. I suspect that she will be celebrating her nuptials in the very near future but for her birthday, it looks like she wanted to keep things nice, intimate and quiet. Sounds like she had a great birthday to me.

Birthday Lurve goes out to Nicole Richie today as she celebrates her 29th birthday. Nicole and a few of her closest BFFs, including superstar DJ Samantha Ronson and singer Christina Aguilera, have made their way down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for an extended celebration this week … which is where the ladies will be celebrating today:

Nicole Richie made sure to celebrate the final year of her twenties with a bang, by flying down to Mexico with her celebrity friends. As she turned 29 today, Richie partied with pals Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan’s on-off lover Samantha Ronson. But the bash in Cabo wasn’t as wild as some of her previous parties and the mother-of-two looked to be having a relaxing trip by the beach. And her own birthday came just a couple of weeks after her son Sparrow’s first birthday, which she and partner Joel Madden celebrated at home with around 50 guests. Despite having had a wild reputation in the past for her partying and arrest for possession of illegal substances, these days Richie is more likely to be found spending time with Madden, Sparrow and their daughter Harlow, two. On the beach, the style icon hid her bikini body under a sheer purple kaftan. While fellow mother Christina Aguilera was barely recognisable in purple track pants, oversized sunglasses and a low riding hat … And Sam Ronson also dressed down for the casual occasion in baggy jeans and a loose red T-shirt.

It has been suggested that this summit of Nicole‘s female BFFs is actually a secret bachelorette party for a possible upcoming wedding (which, very conveniently, could be masked under the guise of Nicole‘s 29th birthday) but there has been no official word that this is actually the case. I would be remiss if I didn’t express my personal belief that it is quite possible that this holiday in Cabo is serving more than one purpose … but, with that being said, I think it’s important to focus on Nicole‘s birthday today and worry about the other speculation for another day. Let’s send all of our Birthday Lurve to Nicole today and our very best wishes for a great celebration in Mexico … no matter what the ladies may be celebrating ;)

With her slim figure, ultra stylish outfits and chic hairstyle, Nicole Richie has always been a fashion icon. And as these new set of stunning shots show, the diminutive Simple Life star is still very much living up to her reputation as she poses in a series of lace dresses, leather trousers and high heeled strappy shoes. But despite her glossy image, the 28-year-old seems to be becoming a bit of a domestic goddess these days. In the accompanying interview for In Style magazine, Nicole discusses how she makes ‘home-cooked and very, very healthy’ food for her fiancé Joel Madden and two children – two-year-old Harlow, and Sparrow, one, which she says is ‘made with love.’ ‘I don’t have a hat and apron, but I entertain at home a lot,’ she reveals. ‘I love cooking for other people. My house is pretty eclectic. I think it represents me well. It’s fun and comfortable at the same time and it’s a place where a lot of people like to be. It has a lot of people in and out all the time.’ And Harlow already seems to be taking after her mother, who has her own jewellery range House of Harlow and clothing line Winter Kate. ‘[Harlow] picks her own clothes. It’s a 20-minute thing – it begins at 7.30 each morning – but it is what it is and it’s fine,’ she says. Despite her preened look in these photos, Nicole – who changed her hair style from long and brown to blonde and bobbed his week – claims her fashion instinct comes naturally. ‘I don’t think it’s as prepared as you’d think,’ she says. ‘I just grab whatever’s around and put it on. I’m pretty much a jeans and T-shirt type of girl and then I go from there. I collect a lot of vintage kimonos and vintage bed jackets. I’ll throw those on, and a lot of the time it will appear that I’m wearing a completely different outfit, but I’m not.’

Nicole Richie has updated the blog on her official website with a cute black & white photo that features Ms. Richie working on the Winter Kate Spring 2011 collection while she wears her “thinking cap”:

I’m not sure if this headdress is meant to hint at what inspired the coming Spring line from Winter Kate so I guess we’ll have to stay tuned to see what Nicole has got planned for the new collection.

Nicole Richie, New York Times best-selling author, has announced the release of her second book due out later this year, 5 years after the release of her debut novel The Truth About Diamonds. As you may recall (you readers who have been around since 2005), Nicole gave an amazing shout-out to Pink is the new Blog in her Diamonds novel which is one of the coolest things that has ever happened in my professional blogging career:

Joel Madden, frontman for his band Good Charlotte and avid Twitter user, is pretty fond of sharing his personal photos on his official Twitter account and this weekend some of those photos have been culled together by People magazine. Here are some of the photos that Joel has shared with us all along with commentary tweets that he wrote for each photo:

“So a few weeks ago we were in PHILLY. One place I consider a home away from home,” Waldorf, Md., native Joel Madden Tweeted about a recent trip back East with Nicole Richie. “We saw the Phillies/O’s game. The O’s won of course….Still @nicolerichie had to root for against me!”

While in Philadelphia, the couple took daughter Harlow to the city’s 135-year-old zoo, the first in America. “Harlow really enjoyed the Hippos. Nicole somehow found a way convince Harlow that I am a gorilla,” Madden lamented.

Madden’s twin Benji finds himself the subject of Richie’s teasing, like when she posted THIS photo of the Good Charlotte guitarist. “Just walked in on @benjaminmadden posing like this in front of my 2 dogs. Ummmmmmmm…..”

Aww … love these photos! Joel Madden (as well as his brothers Josh and Benji) are the realest guys you will ever meet. I love that they are all so willing to share so much of themselves with fans. Twitter is such a great way to “get to know” the celebs that you may be a fan of and I can assure you, what you see/read from the Maddens is what you get in real life. It’s very clear that these guys are so thankful and grateful for their lives and they seem happy to share that bliss with the world. If you’d like to see more personal photos like these, you should follow them on Twitter. After all, who wouldn’t want an adorable photo of Harlow Winter to pop up in their Twitter timeline from time to time?

Last night celebs and fashionistas made their way to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, NY to attend the annual Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s Costume Institute Ball which was themed American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity. This gala event is the opportunity for these famous folks to turn it out on the red carpet and show off their fanciest, most stylist looks. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals last night and some deets from the event itself:

It could have gone any way last night, considering the theme of the Costume Institute exhibition: “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity.” There could have been neo-jazz babies, flappers, debutantes, feminists, disco queens, Hollywood sirens, Nouvelle Society matrons and Playboy bunnies. And that’s just a few archetypes off the top of a stack. But most of the women attending the gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among the 725 guests, dressed elegantly, more so than in recent years, and they did their best to heed Anna Wintour’s e-mail messages to be on time. At 6:30 p.m., Ms. Wintour, the editor in chief of Vogue, was waiting at the top of the red-carpeted grand staircase, a tiny figure in a gold Chanel dress and jacket. If the gala’s other leaders, Oprah Winfrey and Patrick Robinson, the executive vice president of design for Gap, had ascended the front steps, they still had a climb before they reached Ms. Wintour and the receiving line. Asked if she felt any pressure to wear clothes by American designers, Ms. Wintour smiled and said, “Well, if you see the exhibition, they’re all wearing French clothes.” Ms. Winfrey wore a design of Oscar de la Renta, who had invited Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Barbara Walters, among others, to sit at his table. In recent years, the themes of the Costume Institute exhibits have included “Anglomania,” superheroes and models. That at least provided some direction for how to dress for the party, where this year the top table price was $250,000 and Lady Gaga sang after the dinner. But this year’s exhibition, organized by the curator Andrew Bolton, looked at styles between 1890 and the 1940s, relying on exceptional pieces from the Brooklyn Museum’s collection like Worth gowns, gray walking suits and bicycling outfits. It’s a serene view of American style, set against murals, and it was almost shocking to see how tiny the figures were, with tiny waists and tiny feet. Naturally, everyone had her own idea of what defined American style. “I think it’s confidence,” said Vera Wang, in a long white dress, as she talked to members of the Newhouse family and then Wendy Murdoch, who wore a fitted green silk dress with a long black train. Its designer, Prabal Gurung, was new to her. She said that Ms. Wintour had recommended him. A few feet away, and trying to avoid the train of Mrs. Murdoch’s dress, were Nicole Richie, in a silvery Marc Jacobs dress, and Margherita Missoni, in a long black dress that sort of left her bare on the sides. “It’s my idea of grunge,” Ms. Missoni said. “I want to bring back the ’90s.” Ms. Ritchie said she wanted to dress up more these days. “I actually wear long dresses a lot,” she said. Across the Petrie Sculpture Court, where cocktails were held, Lauren Santo Domingo was channeling the ’90s as well. “Tom Ford,” she said, mentioning a designer whose name seemed to be on a number of people’s lips. Ms. Santo Domingo’s long beige beaded dress was actually a Proenza Schouler. She was standing with Chloë Sevigny, who had on a bright turquoise Proenza dress with a short belled skirt. “I couldn’t pull off your dress,” Ms. Sevigny said to Ms. Santo Domingo, “and you couldn’t pull off mine.” They seemed agreed about that. Christopher Bailey, the Burberry designer, had his idea about American style: “It’s easy, functional, comfortable with an earthy sexiness. I still think of Lauren Hutton as the epitome of that style.” Franca Sozzani, the editor of Italian Vogue, had on a beige silk satin Valentino dress (“From way, way back,” she said, waving her hand), and she stood surveying the jam-packed, train-tripping room with Donatella Versace. “To me, American fashion is Charlie James,” Ms. Sozzani said. Ah, Charlie. Someone was summoning him, too. Dr. Lisa Airan, the Manhattan dermatologist, had wanted to wear a real James dress to the party, but her friend, the designer Gilles Mendel, had told her that wasn’t such a great idea. So she went to the Met library, did some research, and asked Mr. Mendel to make her dress in the James spirit.

Honestly, I’m not really impressed with anything that I saw on the red carpet last night. Sure, there were a lot of pretty dresses but nothing really stood out. In previous years, there were quite a few interesting and over-the-top looks that were real attention getters (remember Madonna‘s Louis Vuitton bunny ears last year?) but this year … nada.
