On Thursday we learned the somewhat surprising news that eldest Jonas brother Kevin got engaged to his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa and today we learn that the happy couple celebrated their engagement with Kevin’s brothers and bandmates at a special dinner in NYC last night. Here are a few pics of Kevin & Danielle along with Joe and Nick Jonas making their way out of their fave pizza place together:

I mean, what better way to celebrate ones upcoming nuptials than with a pizza party! I mean … it’s not like they chose to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese or anything … it was, like, a serious grown-up place and everything. I understand that Danielle and the JoBros partied with 30 of their closest friends. Sounds like fun, don’t it?

The brothers known as Jonas are featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Try as I might to ignore them, these young men have fully infiltrated pop culture (as evident from their latest magazine cover) and have even started mingling into the goss world (by way of youngest brother Nick’s rekindled romance with Miley Cyrus, essentially making them the Justin and Britney of this new generation) and therefore are finally worth talking about … or at least mentioning. Whether or not they remain worthy of talking about on a daily basis for months and years to come remains to be seen. But, since they are the coverstory band on the new issue of Rolling Stone … well, here we go. If the Jonas Brothers‘ first moment on the cover of Rolling Stone found them reaching the height of teen pop stardom, their latest — on stands this week — finds them pushing for an even loftier goal: musical credibility. “I think we are working to make that trade without having to give anything up,” Kevin Jonas tells Rolling Stone in our cover story. “But I think it will take time, because of where we came from. I would honestly say to anybody, if you were in a band like us, you would take advantage of those platforms too. It’s easy for people to say, ‘No, I’m a real rock & roller,’ but I think you do what you’ve got to do.” Our Jenny Eliscu spent time with the brothers in Los Angeles as they prepared to hit the road in support of their most ambitious album yet, Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The album, the tour and much of what the band does these days seems designed to help facilitate the leap from teen pop to contemporary rock. It’s a challenging feat that few have pulled off. But the brothers are working hard on what they know will be a long, slow march to credibility. Eliscu found Nick on point as the band’s creative lead, putting their touring band through their paces (his brothers have started calling him “Mr. President”), while Kevin helps to steer the Jonas business and image (he even built a foam 3-D scale model of the band’s new stage set, which now takes 180 people to assemble at each show). “We have an operation around us that we run,” Kevin tells Rolling Stone. “It’s not run for us, or dictated to us. Everything that we do, we sign off on.” But even with a strong operation and a lot of hard work, the band knows that teen idols rarely make the leap to “serious artist.” “Personally, I’m not in the band to say, ‘Hey, you need to respect us, take us seriously,’ because that’s kind of stupid,” Joe tells RS. “We’re doing it because we love it, and we don’t care what age group we attract. If they like our music, they like our music, and if they don’t, fine. We don’t need you like our music.”

In the end, I really respect that these young guys have as much control over their careers as they do. They seem pretty grounded and are talented … whether you appreciate their music or not (which I don’t) you have to give them props for doing their thing to the best of their ability and enjoying much success from all of their hard work. Gone are the days when popstars are completely controlled and exploited by larger entities (for example, like Tiffany in the 1980’s who was a huge popstar that had no say about anything and ended up with NOTHING after her career was all said and done). Miley Cyrus took some time away from her bizzy filming schedule in Savannah, GA this weekend to fly off to Dallas, TX for a surprise performance at the Jonas Brothers concert there last night. Miley shocked the audience when she emerged on stage with her (once again) boyfriend Nick Jonas as the pair dueted on the song Before the Storm which they wrote together for the new Jonas album:

If there was any lingering doubt that Niley are back together together then this should erase all notion of that. In what can only be described as the latest blow to poor ex-manfriend Justin Gaston, this impromptu duet seems proof positive that the young lovers are back in lurve. Congratulations are in order for the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers as wee Nick Jonas has finally graduated home school. As you may recall, Nick has been bizzy lately breaking up Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston but he hasn’t let any of that come in the way of his studies. Nick alerted the Twitterverse last Friday that he had finally gotten his sheepskin … he’s a graduate, y’all!

At the ripe old age of 16, Nick Jonas has become a pop superstar, picked up a Grammy nomination and won the affections of teenage girls throughout the world. Now he can add graduating high school to his list of accomplishments. Late last Friday, the teen star took to his Twitter (is there any other way to make these kinds of announcements?) to announce to the world (and his fellow members of the Class of ‘09) that he is officially done with high school.

“I’m happy to announce I have graduated! Class of ‘09!” he wrote. “Congrats to everyone else who has also graduated this year! -Mr. President (Nick)”

When MTV News caught up with the JoBros last week in Dallas, Kevin and Joe shared how they each celebrated their high school graduations (all three brothers were home schooled) with absurd requests like angel food cake! Kevin told us at the time that Nick was about to finish his home-schooling, though Nick still hadn’t decided what he’d be doing for his big celebration. But we’re sure an album release and a sold-out summer tour (as well as the possibility that he’s once again dating Miley Cyrus) is not a bad way of going about it.

Aww … well congrats again. Won’t you join me in raising a glass of milk in honor of Nick’s latest scholastic accomplishment! It appears that he has much to celebrate these days … but earning one’s diploma is a huge milestone in a young man’s life. I wonder if he’ll be celebrating with his friend Miley Cyrus anytime soon?

In a new interview with radio station 107.5 The River, Miley Cyrus admitted yesterday that she has “reconnected” with ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas in the wake of her break-up with 20-year old manfriend Justin Gaston (you may recall that Miley and Justin broke up earlier this week). It should go without saying that Miley has reconnected with Nick especially since we saw photos of the pair jetskiing together in Savannah, GA just a couple of days ago (she’s there filming a new movie called The Last Song, he flew in for a 2 day rendezvous to reconnect, apparently). Here is a portion of Miley’s interview about her new relationship with Nick:

“He’s my best friend, and we still hang out all the time,” she said Friday on 107.5 The River’s Woody and Jim morning show in Nashville. “We’ve definitely reconnected. We don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but right now we’re just kind of kicking it and hanging out as much as we can.” Cyrus split with Jonas at the end of 2007. She told Seventeen last year that she “bawled for a month straight” and dyed her hair black after calling it quits. The two — who sing a duet on the Jonas Brothers’ new song, “Before The Storm — have since patched things up. “We both just kind of saw each other and kind of decided this whole thing is kind of stupid,” Cyrus said. “We were all over the separation.” “I’m really happy to be back in their lives,” she went on. “And our families are super happy we’re hanging out again.” Jonas even took a trip to Georgia to visit Cyrus, who is now shooting the drama The Last Song. On Wednesday, they went jet-skiing near Tybee Island. “No comment,” she said when asked about the outing, though she did admit, “I am a jet ski demon!”

Oh yeah … and about that nose piercing that Miley has been showing off lately, well she’s got a thing or two to say about that as well:

“I’ll let people think what they will,” she said. “I hope no one is upset at me for doing it. I think it’s lame for it to be such a big deal because … it’s just temporary. You can take it out.” What prompted the piercing? “I am a huge Kelly Clarkson fan,” she said. “And I loved when she had her nose pierced.”

Oh Miley … you’re just being Miley. I have to say that I think it’s very sweet that she has reconnected with her more age appropriate ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas. They just seem more suited for one another … mebbe they’ll make it work this time. As for poor Justin Gaston? Well … he’s been left home alone here in SoCal where he has been bizzying himself with posting You Tube videos here he proudly opines for “a very special someone”:

Awww … poor guy. But even still … you can’t live in the past. I’m sure you’ll find the right person for you, Justin … whoever that person may be.

On Tuesday we learned the heartbreaking news that Miley Cyrus decided to dump her 20 year old manfriend Justin Gaston right before she relocated to Savannah, GA for the Summer to work on a new film. It was speculated that the break-up had more to do with Miley’s more age appropriate ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers (who she lunched with in April and collaborated on a new song with just last weekend). It would seem that the speculation may be true … Nick also made his way to Savannah, GA this week and wouldn’t you know it, was spotted enjoying a lovely jetskiing date at Tybee Island with the newly single Miley Cyrus:

The sightings have begun of the big superstars in the Miley Cyrus movie filming out on Tybee Island. Last night we told you about some of Miley’s twitter updates since landing here in Savannah. The latest one stated that she was in love with Savannah. Well maybe that’s cause she had such a fun day yesterday on Tybee Island. In the photo here she is out at Tybee Island Jet Ski rentals having a ball with her former flame Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. A quick search around the internet, in fact, showed photos of Nick flying into Savannah and landing back in New York today from Savannah. On Sunday Miley tweeted that she and Nick were in the studio working on a duet together. This picture is a little far away, but we’re working on getting more photos from the many people who are spotting stars on the island.

HMMM … could Nick just be offering his shoulder for Miley to cry on in the wake of her break-up with Gaston … or could he be offering her more? A rekindled and passionate love affair of fervent hand-holding and ravenous high-fiving? I suppose only time will tell … but it seems pretty clear that now that Jiley has been put asunder, the way is now clear for a reunification of Niley.

Try as I might, I cannot seem to avoid posting about the Jonas Brothers … well, the Jonas brother … Joe, in particular. Last month, I had to succumb and post a photo of middle Jonas brother Joe from his appearance in In Style magazine where the lad confessed that his celebrity crush is, of all people, Daniel Craig. Today, it would seem that Joe has outdone himself with his latest antics … in an effort to call attention to the fact that the Jonas Brothers are releasing a new album in a couple of weeks, Joe created a You Tube video wherein he performs a dance routine to Beyoncé’s big hit song Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It). As you can see from these screencaps, Joe really dressed the part:

First the lad confesses to have a crush on Daniel Craig, then he shows us that he is a Beyoncé fan of the strongest magnitude … is he trying to tell us something? I mean … dancing around to Single Ladies is funny and cute and all … but to do so in a leotard and high heels seems to be taking things a bit far. But, you know what? More power to him!!
